Hi all ☺️ I am now starting Cycle 6 TTC baby number one. I know some of us on January thread said it would be good to set up a Feb thread so thought i’d start it.

I should be ovulating around 17-18th so will be testing on 1st Feb!

@Sunshine924 Hahah😂 I know this sounds very funny and icky but we've figured out that the times it needs to be done quietly, he can wear boxers while BD, It's not as nice but It's soundproof 😂 hahaha

This did make me laugh, honestly the things we find out in this process 😂 . I was going to ask about the logistics of it making things quieter but I think I've probably worked it out 🙃. Although it's our bed that is quite loud so that's a bit of a challenge. Although my daughter can't open our door by herself as it's quite stiff so I suppose that's a blessing

For some reason I feel a bit nervous around this ovulation, I just want to make sure we give it the best possible chance of happening. I've not had that before

Sunshine924 · 23/01/2025 17:33

These messages have made me laugh!! 🤣 We also have a toddler so there's many an occasion I've wished a quickie were an option ... We talk often now about being 'efficient'. The romance has well and truly gone! 🤣

littlefox90 · 23/01/2025 17:43

These comments have been great 😂 I work nights and have had peak results before them so trying to get BD in before is a nightmare as both don't fancy it. I'm like it's fine we can try tomorrow when it's taken awhile due to the pressure then then DH thinks it would be a waste of the effort already put in lmao xx

BerrieSweet · 23/01/2025 17:46

@AlbatrossSociety Hahah yes!! It's like you picture in your head!😂 Try tighten the legs on your bed, maybe it will help a little 🥰 I totally get it, I feel the same way some ovulations, but we do our best and that's what counts❤️

I was lying in bed earlier after dtd (in my dp's lunch break) and he started getting up and getting ready to go back to work and he was like aren't you coming, I was like no I think I'll just marinate for a bit. He was like wtf are you talking about, I was like don't worry about it, it's a private joke. He was like with who!!!? I was like ummm obviously the ladies on mumsnet that I've literally never met but am discussing intimate lives in excruciating detail with?

Also @sunshine924 the idea of discussing how to make sex most efficient made me lol. My partner is quite into the romance and I honestly think he's not overjoyed with the idea of efficiency being a priority but it's the reality! Needs must with a toddler!!

BerrieSweet · 23/01/2025 16:08

@Kateb149 Hahahahha 😂 I realize I have it quite easy in the aspect of not having kids while TTC and BD 😅

Edited

It’s never easy to fit in BD so much! We all have busy lives that can make it difficult 😅 at least your DH is still up for doing it and trying when you need to ☺️

Haha never felt so understood! 😂 I haven’t told anyone that i’m using a fertility cup or lube or anything this month apart from you lovely ladies on here! My DH thinks that doing this thread makes me more stressed but honestly it just makes me feel more normal 😅

Hi all, looks like I'll be joining all of you this month as I'm CD2 today. Bit of a newbie to mumsnet and haven't read the full thread, but thank you so much for the hysterical conversation today about efficiency!

I can totally relate to it - both me and my husband work in schools, but then when we come home I have to sort dinner and our toddler while my husband tutors in the evenings, so we have to find ways to fit TTC in around all that. Plus, we have an incredibly needy dog who spends the whole time we're upstairs whining, which can be so off-putting...

This will be cycle 3 of TTC #2, which I've been finding quite anxiety-inducing so far. I need to find a way to relax about it all so I don't get too stressed over it!!

Sunshine924 · 23/01/2025 19:57

Welcome @squishousdelicious glad we've entertained you today!
I was newbie to Mumsnet last month, and have found it helpful to feel part of a group all going through the same stuff (and now having a good laugh whilst we do) as lets face it whatever your situation and journey so far TTC is hard.
How old is your toddler?

Welcome.
This sounds like us. Me and my husband work in schools and he tutors in the evening (I'm currently waiting for him to get home, trying not to fall asleep as I know I got a flashing smiley on my ovulation stick earlier 🙈😂) .
We have a needy dog who follows us around so, we keep having to leave the tv on downstairs for her to trick her we aren't both going to bed 🙈

Matildahoney · 23/01/2025 20:14

I guess my 13 month old isn't quite a toddler cos DH and I have no issues dtd daily!
The good news is af has finally arrived for me after 7 weeks (and typically a visit to the Dr about it this morning!) so we can get a move on with cycle 2!

Miffy1994 · 23/01/2025 20:41

Been laughing at all your comments today 🤣 12mo here so plenty of time in the evenings. However, we have needy cats, one of whom must be able to smell the pheromones or something and always appears when we’re dtd even if it’s normally a time she’d be hidden asleep somewhere!
Glad to hear you’re back on track @Matildahoney!
Period has now finished here so back to POAS again tomorrow

Irishstout · 23/01/2025 20:44

I've been lurking since the Jan thread. We've decided start TTC our first. I'm 35 and a bit overweight so I'm not expecting it to happen all that quickly. I've never worried about my fertility before, we've never been in a place that we even thought about it.

Anyway... I did some OPKs because I have zero idea if my hormones do what they're supposed to. I got a nice big LH peak on Tuesday evening. We've been DTD every night leading up to and on Tuesday but I was exhausted Wednesday. But I'd have ovulate Wednesday.

Essentially if poss is it ideal to DTD the day of the OPK peak or day after.

Just for next month!

squishousdelicious · 23/01/2025 20:49

@Sunshine924 TTC is so hard! I don't know how some people stay so calm and relaxed about it.

We have a 21 month old who is a proper little whirlwind, but he's also the sweetest little boy. He'd make an excellent older brother! He doesn't nap reliably any more, so any weekend fun still has to be in the evening (thankfully, he is sleeping well overnight atn the moment!)

@carolinep3 it's so annoying waiting for him to finish tutoring, some nights, its 8pm and I'm half asleep because already! Especially as I end up doing work jn the evenings once our son is asleep, because working with him around is impossible. The dog, sadly, doesn't seem to find the TV, her dinner, treats or toys a suitable alternative to being upstairs joining in - and she genuinely would be trying to lick our faces (or worse) if she was upstairs with us 😵 like @Miffy1994, we also have a cat who has been known to sit outside the bedroom door meowing at us too...

You are fertile upto 5 days before ovulation. Best to hit a few of them, day before ovulation (generally when you get the peak), day off and day after if possible. Obviously just get in whatever you can, it only takes the one time, but I try to hit about 5 times during fertile days.

Matildahoney · 23/01/2025 22:30

@Miffy1994 our needy cat is too old to give a monkeys about moving from her warm blanket on the sofa!
It's nice to finally have a starting point again!
@squishousdelicious that's hilarious!
DS is still a reliable twice a day napper so we tend to take advantage and DH often wakes me up when he comes to bed or if we both end up awake in the night we will often partake, and a quickie in the mornings if DS isn't awake before us.

This has me howling , this is so accurate. I work late shifts as well so its been a struggle this week tbh trying to find time and even be mildly in mood when both knackered 🤣

Could anyone help with OPKs- its only my second month using them. Might be hard to appreciate now dry but i think had peak yesterday line was way darker than control, its still the same this morning. Do you ovulate after the first time you get the darkest reading , do they take a while to fade back down?
like should i be ovulating today at some point or could it be anytime whilst line still darker than control?

sorry i have googled just get confused 🙈🙈

Ooh that looks like a lovely peak line to me! ☺️ My premom app tells me to keep testing until the LH starts to go down… and then once it decreases it says that was my peak and i’ll ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. So I guess whilst it’s still high you’re still having your peak if you know what I mean?

OP posts:
carolinep3 · 24/01/2025 09:09

Some peoples peak is only a few hours some a day or two, from your peak ovulation could be anywhere from 12-36 hrs afterwards. I would just dtd everyday for a few days if you can.

My ovulation has been a bit delayed this month, got all excited this morning at a bit of CM bit since we are oversharing here 😂 how can you tell if it is CM or just lasts nights dtd juice 🙈😬😂

thankyou @Kateb149 i didnt download the app maybe i will next month if no joy this cycle!

Yeah weve managed to dtd a good amount leading up and im hoping if we manage tomorrow as well will cover the window 🤞 dont think ive got it in me for many more days
🤣

tbh i really cant tell difference with CM until it changes just before period but tbf until this process ive really not ever thought about it 😆

hope you get ovulation soon 🤞🤞🤞

Littledot2 · 24/01/2025 09:25

@cacarolinep3 yes to this! 👆😅 I'm the same and can't decide if it's EWCM or DTD leftovers. If anyone could enlighten me 🙈

Kateb149 · 24/01/2025 10:04

@Littledot2 @carolinep3 I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s been confused by this 😂 I can confirm I have googled it in the past and not found many helpful answers… the only advice I saw was don’t DTD on the run up to ovulation so you can tell when you get EWCM. But that’s the most fertile days so that didn’t make sense to me 🤷🏼‍♀️😅

sorry another question about the ovulation tests, do you get a positive result when AF is close? Because I’m CD23 and have been feeling like AF is going to make an early arrival this month 😩 and today the ovulation test line is darker than it was yesterday so I’m very confused x

Unless the test is positive (the test line darker than the control) it doesn't really
Mean anything I believe.
They can be positive if you are pregnant I think, but the lines need to be equal colour or test line darker, I don't take much notice otherwise.

Thank you for replying, This is todays test, it’s the darkest line that ive had my whole cycle. Who knows it’s all very confusing 🙈x
