I am now 37 and have one beautiful 10yrs old boy, my partner has 2 boys 9 & 13yrs.

I bought the Hertility kit online, not yet opened it… I was going to give this cycle my last attempt before investigating 🙃

We got pregnant a year ago but due to personal circumstances we both decided to not go ahead, this I carry so much guilt over 🪃

Now we are both ready and settled in our careers and home but now it has taken nearly 6/7cycles.

today I got my 1st + ovulation test, so beginning our January TWW.

what is everyone else’s story 🌟

@carolinep3 I got the blood test via superdrug nurse clinic, because my GP is so slow at everything, wait and see, come back etc, and I'm 37.5. In Scotland and we don't have that app, although I they really should roll it out I've read about it before and it sounds great.
So the microbiome test will tell you about the lining then? It's really interesting how everything is connected to the microbiome. I've had urine and vaginal microbiome testing before for chronic UTIs, but not endometrial. One probiotic I'd recommend is Optibac Intimate women one, because the exact strains in it actually showed up on my vaginal microbiome test weeks after I took some, so it must have actually got where it needs to go. Same with one Canesten used to do vaginal pessary form, but they discontinued that one. I'm sure I read we also want Lactobacilli in the uterus as well as vagina.
Do you find the iron helps then? GP said a while back that I am mildly deficient, but I struggle to tolerate any iron pills they upset my stomach and bladder.

@BabyBorn I'm 37.5 and I'm not totally sure how long my periods have been like that, at least a year maybe two years. I am concerned it means I could have bad lining or be in peri.

I started taken the iron tablet because I had my ferritin levels checked and they were quite low - they haven't made me feel any different (been taken for a month) but my fertility mentor told me to for optimum fertility health, apparently a low ferritin store can affect egg quality eventually.

The vaginal microbiome test should tell
Me if I have an inflamed lining or any Infection, I should say I don't have any symptoms of this at all, but the fertility expert I see asked me 505050000 questions and this was her verdict. It is due to spotting from cd22 onwards and I've had two 'small babies' plus my membranes went early with the second. This could apparently show I've always had an infection 🤷🏻‍♀️ seems crazy, but I have to test and see. Will be interesting to get the results.

More research is showing so
Much is tied to our microbiome! So much is also linked to the gut apparently!

BabyBorn · 14/02/2025 20:55

@carolinep3 interesting. I am also taking 2 different probiotics a day so hopefully it's the same kinda thing as yours! Ones from Natures Best and the other from Advanced Nutrition. I don't drink caffeinated drinks anyway and I'm gluten free too. Literally only eating whole foods and bone broth so it's not so dry!

laidir · 14/02/2025 21:00

@carolinep3 My progesterone level came back 45.2 nmol/L. It was CD30 for me though, 7/8 days after I think I ovulated (24-48 hours after peak on OPK). So I think that is some good news anyway and I'm happy!

@BabyBorn Where do you get the bone broth please? Do you make it?

BabyBorn · 14/02/2025 21:03

@laidir that's brilliant news!! Must be a small relief for you.

I buy mine from Freja. Holland and Barrett have just started selling it, or you can get it from a the Freja website. I used to make my own but no time for it these days and I go through quite a lot of the stuff so I can't keep up with the demand making it myself.

laidir · 14/02/2025 21:20

@BabyBorn Yeah I'm happy that I have at least ovulated on my own, even with PCOS. I am going to start tracking BBT next cycle though because the test was expensive privately and my GP will only do one progesterone test and one day 2-5 test.
Thanks that's great about the broth, I have holland and barrett nearby so will try it. I sometimes make my own chicken broth with wings and veg (not sure if bone broth specifically) but like you say, it's really time consuming and doesn't make a lot at a time.

curliegirlie · 14/02/2025 22:17

Great news @laidir! Always a relief to get those figures. And yes, a good idea to track BBT if you can, as it's reassuring if it can confirm the OPK.

How is everyone doing? We've been to the see the GP today to get the ball rolling with some investigations into our fertility as we're on cycle 11 now and I'm 36 this year. Feels like a big scary step but I literally felt a weight lift off me when he said that we could get the ball rolling with some tests, starting with my blood test on Friday x

BabyBorn · 18/02/2025 06:59

Hey @ByJollyZebra Welcome! Do you currently have any children? That's great your GP has agreed to blood tests. I had my little girl at 37, got pregnant at 36. I am now trying again, I will be 40 in March x

Hi 👋
Just popping back on - I’m having some bleeding (should be around 6 - 7 weeks now) I’m not feeling hopeful, although sickness has ramped up considerably so maybe that’s a good sign.

I have a scan on Thursday so depending what we see, I might be rejoining you all in ttc soon.

Hope things are going well for everyone.

xx

BabyBorn · 18/02/2025 12:46

Aawwww @FenellaFurchester I hope everything will be ok! Good luck and let us know when you've had your scan on Thursday. 🍀🍀 xx

Thank you. It’s been a dreadful week of waiting, symptom spotting, crying, and suddenly become very superstitious.
At least I’ll know early if it’s a blighted ovum and we’ll be able to try again.

I’ll update on Thursday xx

Squibblypanda90 · 18/02/2025 19:22

I'm 35 worrying I can't get pregnant again, sons 7 years old and my partner's said he would like to try for another child. Been using ovulation tests and using procieve vitamins. Ive got the flo app and the clearblue app. Can anyone give anymore advice on what else I could do?

BabyBorn · 18/02/2025 19:43

@FenellaFurchester I know exactly what you mean, I've been there a few times too 😢 Hope its a positive outcome for you as not all pregnancies end in miscarriage with bleeding xx

BabyBorn · 18/02/2025 19:45

Forgot to ask, what makes you think it could be a blighted ovum? @FenellaFurchester x

I had a bleed and GP sent me for a scan, only gestational sac was visible so I was heartbroken when they said ectopic (now ruled out by blood tests), blighted ovum, or just too early. Then when I looked more closely at my dates, I’ve realised I probably ovulated closer to CD17 or 18 so at the scan I’d have been 5 weeks and 3 or 4 days rather than the 6 weeks they were looking for. It made me feel much more hopeful that it was just too early. I’ve had some spotting since so I’m readying myself for bad news.
Strange feeling to still have that “I just want to be pregnant” feeling even after my bfp 😢

BabyBorn · 19/02/2025 02:03

Right, I understand now. Well obviously let's hope it was just too early to tell! 🤞 xx

BabyBorn · 20/02/2025 09:03

Good Luck today @FenellaFurchester xx

Good Luck today @FenellaFurchester xx

Just had the scan.
Measuring 6w1d - everything is where it should be and a heartbeat ❤️

I have a subchorionic hematoma so that’s where the bleeding has come from.

I can’t quite believe it’s real, I was convinced it would be bad news.

Thank you so much for thinking of me ❤️

xx

Aawww @FenellaFurchester that's such amazing news! Congratulations! Exciting times ahead! Xx

FenellaFurchester · 20/02/2025 14:31

I can’t stop crying with relief 😂 I know it’s early days but it’s as good as it can be for this stage.

I’m really glad to have a reason for the bleed, it feels far more reassuring than it being okay but not knowing why I bled.

xx

BabyBorn · 20/02/2025 19:05

I bet you are! Such relief! So pleased for you! Looking forward to seeing you on the pregnancy boards and hoping I follow you really soon!! lol x

Hey @SCK2024 how are things with you? Isn’t it time to BD for you now? I’ve just started my period 3 days earlier than usual! It’s got to be the acupuncture?! so hoping this will put me back to a 28 day cycle like it was for years up until I had my daughter 2years 7 months ago. The only changes I’ve made is clean eating, acupuncture and taking Chinese herbs x

😂😂😂 It is! Got my peak yday, didn’t BD leading up to it, taking it easy this month and next.
BD last night, probably again all weekend too, trying not to get all excited with early testing and OTT symptom spotting.

your the second person today who has mentioned acupuncture! Never know of this before? Can it bring on early spotting and AF? What are the benefits with this, sounds good ✨

CD 10 today 1dpo
