I am now 37 and have one beautiful 10yrs old boy, my partner has 2 boys 9 & 13yrs.

I bought the Hertility kit online, not yet opened it… I was going to give this cycle my last attempt before investigating 🙃

We got pregnant a year ago but due to personal circumstances we both decided to not go ahead, this I carry so much guilt over 🪃

Now we are both ready and settled in our careers and home but now it has taken nearly 6/7cycles.

today I got my 1st + ovulation test, so beginning our January TWW.

what is everyone else’s story 🌟

I wouldn't have thought it would matter hugely whether it's 7 or 8dpo, given that ov date is always a slight guess (as it's anywhere between12 and 24 hours after a positive OPK). Good luck! As I said, it was on an irregular cycle that I conceived last time, whereas for the past 3 years when they've been much more consistent- nothing!

Hailz1979 · 11/02/2025 16:13

Hey babyborn!! How's are you? I'm trying to conceive my 4th...my youngest is 9...all from previous relationship and there's nothing my partner and myself would like more than a baby of our own 😊

carolinep3 · 11/02/2025 16:16

@laidir yes day21 doesn't necessarily
Mean cd22, 7DPO is most important. You won't know exactly when you ovulated without bbt, opks don't confirm and can be confusing sometimes.
Progesterone is supposed to peak 7dpo, but I had 7 and 9dpo done this cycle, and 9dpo was a lot higher (but this just confirms I ovulated) not much else I believe.

GoNoSixx · 11/02/2025 18:16

Hey I'm just short of 35, 2months and I'll be reaching that age 😱

I have pcos ttc baby no6 eldest being nearly 14 and youngest being one in three weeks.

It took us 2+ years to conceive my youngest and I had the coil fitted at 6 week check up but decided to have it removed last month as oh is 41 and we think a play mate close to little ones age will be nice so here we are again. Just hope it doesn't take the 2+ years again 😫

Goodluck ladies i hope you all get your bfp sooner rather than later i know how hard it can be on the roller coaster of a journey when it feels like its never going to happen ❤️

Ahh boo, from memory you'd want to be looking at levels of at least 40-50. But not sure what you'd expect them to look like at 12dpo rather than the usual 7DPO. Does progesterone nosedive again just before AF?

Anything above 10 is a good level and shows ovulation anything above 30 suggests infertility, from what I have researched 🤷🏻‍♀️

@carolinep3 Thank you. Yeah if I did the test on CD21 I wouldn't have even ovulated yet! I ovulated (I hope) on CD 22/23 this month. Do you know what the levels should be to confirm ovulation please? I am finding conflicting levels and I'm getting the test at Superdrug so I'll likely have to interpret it myself which tbh I'd rather that, if I knew the values lol!

BabyBorn · 11/02/2025 21:48

Hi @Hailz1979 I'm trying for my 4th too! My youngest is 31 months and my eldest is 20 this week 🥴😂 Have you been trying long? I've had two miscarriages since June so hoping we get lucky soon!! X

curliegirlie · 11/02/2025 22:04

What did you read that said higher than 30 = infertility?!! If taken on the right day, the level you'd be looking for is over 30 to confirm ovulation (I was wrong that 40 is the minimum they look for - but it was 7 years ago I last had the test done).

Here's the NICE guidelines around progesterone tests. To be clear, I don't think you necessarily need to worry about not having ovulated - far more likely the bloods were taken on the wrong day. They might ask you to try again next month.

So my Day 21 was definitely correct 😊

AF arrived this morning.. rubbish but glad!
brand new cycle for me! 😊
Not going crazy this month with testing as not really wishing for a Nov/dec baby it’s expensive enough with my boy and partners bday/his sons bday and Xmas!

but would be blessed regardless the outcome 😌
How is everyone else? Xx

You come across quite fiery, you don’t need to be if you are, this is a TTC group where we are here to support one another.. some people may have been given different information and also consider everyone has different cycles/ovulation so dates can vary.

please be kind 🙂

Hey @SCK2024 sorry to hear AF arrived! How annoying! Yeah onwards and upwards! Are you giving it a break now then? I'm 2 DPO. So waiting game. Did you decide on what supplements to take in the end? I've just stripped back on mine x

curliegirlie · 12/02/2025 13:30

Sorry, I'm really not meaning to be unkind or fiery. But this stuff is important to get right - so yes, it makes a difference if the Day 21 test is taken at 7DPO or not. And it's helpful if you can interpret the results. Above 30 does not equal infertile - that's actually the kind of results you are looking for on that day. I think mine were 45 - and I went on to have 2 kids so not infertile (if not particularly fertile, as this current 3 year rodeo has demonstrated!). BUT your result of 20 is almost certainly fine and expected for later on in your cycle if the test was as 12dpo.

I honestly wish you the very best of luck. This journey is shit and heartbreaking, but do try and listen to our advice too. No one wants to have lot of experience in long term TTC but if we can use that experience to help others that's at least something. I really didn't mean to upset you and I'm so sorry if you took it that way.

I didn’t try any supplements this month just the conceive plus lubricant 😌
Still TTC just not going to symptom spot and be eager testing early this cycle and next, the stress of it all can be so triggering! 🫠

I do still have my GP appt on Friday, I am going to see what she advises on fertility medication, don’t think I will be suitable but if you don’t ask you don’t know! ☺️

2DPO! I’ll be keeping my eyes pealed for your updates and wish you all the luck!

trying anything new this cycle? X

Ag right. You are taking vitamin D and folic acid though right? I upped my vitamin d dose. Stopped taking my multivitamin. Started taking vitamin C and E and folic acid, which I upped my dose of too. I take 300mg of uniquinol too for egg quality. A few of my friends have had IVF and were told to take all of these for a better chance of conception.

Glad you aren't having a break. Better to just get on with it isn't it. I don't symptom stop but I do pee on sticks.. ALOT 😂😂 Here's hoping we all get lucky this month.

The new things I've changed is the supplements I've already mentioned and I started acupuncture too. I am still completely clean eating which is a killer for prep work and time consuming but some weight is slow dropping off, I have far more energy and I feel better now the cravings have stopped! How about you? Are you planning on changing anything this month? x

carolinep3 · 12/02/2025 17:12

@laidir as someone has said over 30 confirms ovulation for that month. If taken at the right time and under 30 ovulation may not have happened.
Higher doesn't suggest inferile at all. At 9dpo this month by progesterone was 59, I saw my fertility expert and they said that was perfect and could have indicated pregnancy (the thought is my lining couldn't sustain this unfornately).

@BabyBorn I'm on so many vitamins now I feel like a rattle when I walk!!

I'm going to be 38 next month and I was hoping I would be pregnant before then, never mind 😩

laidir · 12/02/2025 19:32

@carolinep3 Thanks very much, now I know what levels to look for. My test is tomorrow morning and if OPK are correct it should be 7/8DPO.
I'm sorry about what you are saying about your lining. I'll be 38 this year also. My periods are quite light - only 2 days of 'proper' bleeding - 1st day heavy, 2nd day normal, then they just tail off into spotting. So I'm a bit worried about lining as well. Presumably we need an ultrasound on a particular day to assess that?

If you are getting the bloods on the nhs your results should be on the app the same or the next day.

No don't need an ultrasound. I've just taken a vaginal Microbiome test, it is a test you send off with menstrual blood on cd1. It was expensive but I should get results in 3/5 weeks which tells me if there is any kind of issue.

BabyBorn · 13/02/2025 06:38

@carolinep3 I usually hate taking tablets normally. What supplements are you taking? I take 6 tablets in the morning and 3 after lunch 🥴

@laidir how long have your cycles been like that and how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

I take
Prenatal supplement
Two for microbiome women's Heath
B6 (for spotting)
Vit C
CoQ10 for egg quality
Iron tablet

BabyBorn · 13/02/2025 16:18

@carolinep3 what's the microbiome one? I take a probiotic skin biome that I've been taken for ages, is it the same kind of thing? How much vitamin d are you taking? I've upped mine to 5000 IU for a few months and taking 1000 mg of Vitamin C. My diet at the moment is crazy clean so that's why I've stopped my prenatal tablets. X

laidir · 13/02/2025 17:11

@carolinep3 I got the blood test via superdrug nurse clinic, because my GP is so slow at everything, wait and see, come back etc, and I'm 37.5. In Scotland and we don't have that app, although I they really should roll it out I've read about it before and it sounds great.
So the microbiome test will tell you about the lining then? It's really interesting how everything is connected to the microbiome. I've had urine and vaginal microbiome testing before for chronic UTIs, but not endometrial. One probiotic I'd recommend is Optibac Intimate women one, because the exact strains in it actually showed up on my vaginal microbiome test weeks after I took some, so it must have actually got where it needs to go. Same with one Canesten used to do vaginal pessary form, but they discontinued that one. I'm sure I read we also want Lactobacilli in the uterus as well as vagina.
Do you find the iron helps then? GP said a while back that I am mildly deficient, but I struggle to tolerate any iron pills they upset my stomach and bladder.

@BabyBorn I'm 37.5 and I'm not totally sure how long my periods have been like that, at least a year maybe two years. I am concerned it means I could have bad lining or be in peri.

BabyBorn · 13/02/2025 18:16

Oh really. Yes I've heard of short cycles meaning peri or Ashermans syndrome. Hopefully neither apply to you and you get pregnant soon!

They are specific probiotics for women's health and vaginal healthy bacteria etc, I've attached photos.
I don't take vitamin apart from what is in my inessa prenatal vitamins.
My diet is pretty clean too, I cut out gluten and caffeine about 5 weeks ago.
