I am now 37 and have one beautiful 10yrs old boy, my partner has 2 boys 9 & 13yrs.

I bought the Hertility kit online, not yet opened it… I was going to give this cycle my last attempt before investigating 🙃

We got pregnant a year ago but due to personal circumstances we both decided to not go ahead, this I carry so much guilt over 🪃

Now we are both ready and settled in our careers and home but now it has taken nearly 6/7cycles.

today I got my 1st + ovulation test, so beginning our January TWW.

what is everyone else’s story 🌟

Yes, the day after the positive OPK would be assumed to be ovulation day.

You have however, got things slightly the wrong way round. A "day 21" test is designed to capture progesterone levels when you're half way through your LP to establish whether you have actually ovulated or not. But the important thing is that it's around 7DPO, not that it's necessarily Day 21. If you ovulated on CD14 (as a lot of people do), then a Day 21 test on CD21 will work. If you ovulated on CD24, however, it would be pointless to do the test on actual Day 21 (as you wouldn't even have ovulated by that point) So you would try and book it in for CD 31.

So, if you guess from OPKs that you ovulated 25th Jan (based on a +OPK the day before), your "Day 21" test needed to be on 2nd Feb (or, as that was a weekend, 3rd Feb probably wouldn't have been too out of whack). But booking on in for 14DPO - when AF is about to pounce (or not! 🤞) - will tell the doctors precisely nothing useful.

Thanks for this, I have queried this with my GP and they have assured me that CD21 is right.
My cycles are short 21-24
fetrtile week 25-31 peak was 25th.
i am on CD 18 today.

How strange! 😂
are you using the kits?
Im trying not to test again just yet as it was a bfn yesterday AF isn’t due till 14th 💌
I feel we didn’t really 🐰 enough this month but we did use the conceive lube and 2/3 over the fertile week so fingers crossed!
& for you too!!! ☺️✨

I do use kits for the fun of it but it's just because I'm a gimp not because I have to 😂😂 I feel my ovulation every month (bloody painful) but I just like peeing on sticks obviously 🥴😆😂.

Tough isn't it trying to DTD every other day until peak. Hopefully you've done enough, I'm sure you have. Way too early for you to be testing 😂 Fingers crossed for you! I got my last positive 10DPO but everyone is different 😀

SCK2024 · 06/02/2025 19:31

Got a new symptom this evening, not sure how I feel about it although AF is 7/8days away.

Feeling crampy/achey low abdomen, not had this so soon before AF due but feels like it’s on its way kind of thing? 🫠

Not sure what to make of it

SCK2024 · 06/02/2025 19:56

I swear my Flo app changes!
I even copied it into my own calendar at the time… so …
it now says AF due around the10th but could get a bfp on 14th 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
curliegirlie · 06/02/2025 20:13

Well, if you really are 12dpo you may well be due on in the next couple of days, as the luteal phase lasts between around 10-14 days depending on the individual (although will be consistent to you)...

However, if your AF/BFP prediction of Valentines Day is correct you'll have most likely ovulated later than you thought (which might mean your Day21 test will be around the correct day after all).

Only time will tell.....

I definitely ovulated on the 25th I did the tests, but we will see

Good luck with the bloods today (but be prepared for them to come back with questionable results, as I'm with Flo in when AF would be due!). I think some Apps might deliberately put testing day as a few days after you're due on, so that might be causing the discrepancy.

I'm CD10, the "thumb twiddling" part of my cycle, as I probably won't ovulate until CD16, so a few days yet until fertile period....I'm trying not to think too hard about the weeks after that as this really does have to be my final cycle. Next month marks the 3 year mark since finding out about my pregnancy, the MC under a week after that, and, if this cycle goes the way all previous ones go, finally giving the loft a sort out and getting rid of stuff. It will break me 😭😩

DPO14 BFN
AF still hasn’t arrived … no symptoms.

Progesterone blood results came back 20

if anyone can enlighten me before my GP appt this Friday 🙂✨✨✨

Ahh boo, from memory you'd want to be looking at levels of at least 40-50. But not sure what you'd expect them to look like at 12dpo rather than the usual 7DPO. Does progesterone nosedive again just before AF?

If they were taken on the correct day, you are looking for over 30 to confirm
Ovulation.

4/5 DP(hopefully)O here.

Trying not to symptom spot but boobs sore on and off and cramping, twinges low in abdomen. But I've had all these symptoms before and BFN so not sure it means anything.

@carolinep3 Do the 'Day 21' bloods have to be on 7DPO exactly then, to be most accurate?
For me my cycles are variable, but this month was my first using OPKs and I got an LH surge on Day 21, then the next morning was down a bit, then another / the same surge on the evening of Day 22. No other surges this month before or since. Not sure which was correct, but I'm counting ovulation as Day 22/23, so I have booked in for progesterone bloods on 7/8DPO - would the one day matter do you think?
I just hope I'm ovulating, cause I have PCOS and my cycles vary.
I can totally see why the timing of the so called 'day 21' test makes sense if you look at the cycle graphs, like this - I'm guessing we are trying to find that progesterone level at 'peak', where the red arrow is which for me this standard 28 day cycle would be far too early.

I'm learning lots of new things!

Welcome @Hailz1979 are you trying to conceive your first? Have you had any investigations? I am 40 next month and hoping this will be our year! Smile

curliegirlie · 11/02/2025 08:21

Yep, "Day 21" tests should be on 7DPO to be at all meaningful. Thus, when I was TTC my second I think I had one on CD32 as I had a silly long cycle - which, yes, confirmed I had indeed ovulated and ironically it was the one where I got my BFP!
