I am now 37 and have one beautiful 10yrs old boy, my partner has 2 boys 9 & 13yrs.

I bought the Hertility kit online, not yet opened it… I was going to give this cycle my last attempt before investigating 🙃

We got pregnant a year ago but due to personal circumstances we both decided to not go ahead, this I carry so much guilt over 🪃

Now we are both ready and settled in our careers and home but now it has taken nearly 6/7cycles.

today I got my 1st + ovulation test, so beginning our January TWW.

what is everyone else’s story 🌟

Btw all, did you know you can put your bbt graph to chagpt and ask its opinion?
I didn't until 2 minutes ago haha
It said sensible stuff!

Apparently you can also show it pictures of tests but I didn't have any so couldn't test this feature.

I'm back on cycle 1 today! After a lot of tears and feeling very sorry for myself I'm now ready for the fresh cycle and a fresh start! I'm looking into all the things that could help us. I get very lost at looking at all the different supplements. Going to look at the food that were eating too, although we're not terribly unhealthy we could definitely be better.

We're onto cycle 11 now, I'm 36 this year. Not sure if I should try and get a doctors appointment now and start looking at things or if they'll not want to see us until we've been trying for a year? My third (but my youngest is 8 now), but my partners first x

Our doctor told us that if there is a problem, it’s far more likely that it’s with sperm than with eggs if you have conceived before. Eggs are more stable cells than sperm, which are more susceptible to environmental factors.

Doctor didn’t consider our ages (39 and 41) to be issues as we conceived very recently.

Last cycle I focussed on getting the right supplements into DH (ashwanganda, fenugreek, Naître sachets) and ice packs for his testicles as he has a suspected varicocele. He also drank lots of water and had one or two doses of guaifenesin (cough medicine) for sperm mobility. He doesn’t drink alcohol anyway.
For me, I’ve just used the Naitre sachets which have helped lengthen my cycle and improve EWCM.

Diet wise, we’re both pescatarian and active - I have increased my fat and calorie intake (lots of bread and proper butter) as I believe a woman’s body won’t get pregnant if it feels food/nutrients are scarce or in calorie deficit. Thats just my thoughts but it’s everywhere in nature so it makes sense to me.

Treat yourself today - it’s really hard. This time last month I couldn’t walk past the baby clothes and I was riddled with guilt over ‘leaving it too late’ to give my little boy a sibling. Now I’ve got my BFP.

Obvs now worrying about the transition for him 🙄😂 Worry worry worry, all of it, all the time 😂

Definitely worth a chat with your doctor, they can get the ball rolling with a semen analysis.

That was our next step, DH has an appointment booked to give his sample, he’s been dreading it. Not having to masturbate in random doctors office is such a relief for him 😂

Thank you! Suddenly very scared 😂
Really really faint line around 12dpo but thought it might be an evap. Then didn’t test for days while we were away. Period day came and went so decided it was time to bite the bullet. Now around 16dpo.

Fingers crossed for you 😊

Congratulations @FenellaFurchester! How long had you been TTC for?

I'm CD8 now and desperately trying not to think about things but it consumes me sometimes. I feel selfish and guilty a little because I already have 3 wonderful children. Only going to try until the summer and if no joy we will leave it.

@SCK2024 sounds very promising! Fingers crossed for you!! Xx

It has taken up so much headspace, DH and I have a business and I’ve barely been able to function with it (I do have ADHD so that makes me worse) I literally told him I can’t start a new project until I was pregnant because I didn’t have room in my head for it.

Started half heartedly ‘trying’ around October but this is the first cycle we have properly done SMEP and used OPK strips to get the timing right.

BabyBorn · 01/02/2025 21:01

@FenellaFurchester that is brilliant. Hopefully everything will be good for you from here on in. I'm just trying to stay as healthy as possible at the moment but not cutting my calories. I'm exhausted with every day life and never having a decent sleep. Our 2 year old still co sleeps with us every night and I am still breastfeeding. I have been pregnant in June and November though so I know it can happen. Just need some luck for it to be a good egg and for it to stick around xx

Why progesterone bloods at 14dpo? I thought they had to be done 6-7dpo or normally useful?

Progesterone bloods are usually done on cycle day 21 or 7 days post suggested ovulation.

@SCK2024 yes, that is why I asked you were having them 14dpo, you said you are 9dpo today 🤷🏻‍♀️

It differs in everyone.
My GP is going by Cycle day and not DPO.

I use the Flo app and didn’t really used the OPK this month so my DPO are only on estimates.

My cycles are bang on accurate

OP posts:
curliegirlie · 03/02/2025 15:04

So what's your usual cycle length? I'm confused. @carolinep3 Is correct - Day 21 tests need to be done at 7DPO otherwise they're pointless.

carolinep3 · 03/02/2025 15:19

I have a usual 28 day cycle but ovulated on cd17 this month, a bit different from usual so I had progesterone tests done this morning at 7dpo (cd 24) unless they are done 7dpo they won't tell you anything about progesterone. I would say they are pointless if you haven't tracked ovulation and are just going on an app, could create more confusion.

curliegirlie · 03/02/2025 17:38

@SCK2024 so do you think you ovulate quite late then, in that a "standard" 14dpo (i.e. CD28) actually your 7DPO? If not, you will have completely missed the boat for an accurate progesterone test, as you'll be practically due on...

SCK2024 · 04/02/2025 09:57

I’m not able to attach an image of my Flo.

cycles are regular and Flo is pretty accurate every single month, without fail.

i took 2 tests this month and the 1st one I did I was certain was my peak 25th Feb.

Do I class the next day as DPO because they say once you get your peak then it’s 24-48hrs you ovulate?

GPs here in England/NW always ask for progesterone bloods at cycle day 21 it has always been this at my practice and my practice before.

I work at the Drs and I am a nurse, they have advised blood tests still pick up an accurate result. It does not have to be 7/8DPO as everyone’s cycle is different, also the chances of everyone getting an appt on the requested day would be near impossible as they cover 80,000 patients.

.. however your points do seem to make sense.

i already have my bloods form and labels I could just get my collegiate to do them today or shall I wait?
