Finally got my first period after the miscarriage yesterday which thankfully has relieved the super severe PMS. Have a bit of energy back which is helpful! Back on clomid this evening - here we go again!

Superscientist · 10/01/2025 09:52

I'm glad you are feeling better and can restart your meds @TrulyMiss
How long post miscarriage are you? I'm day 30 and no sign of my period

TrulyMiss · 10/01/2025 10:21

I'm not sure how I feel about the meds to be honest but I guess the only way out of the situation now is to keep going! It was day 40, but my cycles are a bit irregular due to PCOS. The last time it took 35 days to come back. This time I knew when I ovulated so I was able to count down. Have you had any sign of anything happening?

Superscientist · 10/01/2025 16:04

Feelings about these things are complicated aren't they! That's ok.

Not really, I haven't tracked much though either. Last time I had some clear egg white discharge after 2 weeks and then my period 2 weeks later, with Christmas I wasn't paying much attention.

TrulyMiss · 10/01/2025 19:26

Thanks @Superscientist, you've been so kind! Hopefully your period comes back soon so you know where you are. It's the uncertainty about all this stuff that kills me!!

Babydust99 · 13/01/2025 23:17

Heading to an appointment tomorrow with a private gynae who specialises in endo, fibroids, recurrent miscarriages etc to see if there's anything else we can try before starting IVF 🤞

Superscientist · 14/01/2025 07:55

Fingers crossed the appointment is helpful @Babydust99

Babydust99 · 14/01/2025 17:43

Thanks @Superscientist 🤞 will update later

Babydust99 · 14/01/2025 22:41

I've been prescribed progesterone and clexane from ovulation rather than from a bfp as he believes implantation is where our issue is. He also told me aspirin can affect ovulation just incase anyone else is taking aspirin. I've to take it from ovulation onwards instead of all the time

Superscientist · 15/01/2025 08:57

Hopefully that makes the difference @Babydust99 🤞

TrulyMiss · 15/01/2025 10:30

That sounds positive @Babydust99! Out of interest what does the Clexane do? I'm on progesterone from ovulation too so just wondering if it's something I should ask for. Adding aspirin from BFP this time hopefully to see if it helps

Babydust99 · 15/01/2025 10:57

Thank you @Superscientist

@TrulyMiss it's an anticoagulant injection. I have APS (sticky blood)

Fullofconfusion · 15/01/2025 17:54

@Babydust99 glad you had a positive appointment. Everything crossed it’s helpful.

AF is here for me. This one has hit me badly and I just feel so sad that I’ve not fallen pregnant again yet. Having a couple of days of feeling sad and eating chocolate by the bucketload before I get ready for the next window to try again

Babydust99 · 16/01/2025 23:30

@Fullofconfusion thank you. I'm hoping this is the key for us. I'm cd6 now so at a similar point to you. Fingers crossed for both of us for this cycle 🤞

Superscientist · 17/01/2025 12:32

I'm 37 days post miscarriage and still no sign of my period. When I had my first loss my period returned at 4 weeks. I know 4-8 weeks is normal. Those that have had multiple losses did you period return at a similar time afterwards?

No pregnancy symptoms either yet, assuming a regular cycle for me I would be 10 days later and it was around now that the nausea and tender boobs started. I'm not sure what to do, I'm leaning towards living in denial and not testing until symptomatic so there's less time to fret about visibility and waiting for loss but I don't know.

Figtree11 · 17/01/2025 15:14

@Superscientist it took 8 weeks for AF after my first MC, and 10 weeks after my second.
I felt very worried as most threads on Mumsnet I read, their periods returned after 3 or 4 weeks. But longer is normal too

OP posts:
Superscientist · 17/01/2025 15:18

Thanks! Interesting that the second was longer the second time. I was kinda hoping my body would react the same both times! More fool me!
I'll keep (semi)patiently waiting!

Figtree11 · 17/01/2025 15:34

@Superscientist hope you’re not waiting too much longer. I’d never been so relieved to have my period arrive when it came!

OP posts:
TrulyMiss · 17/01/2025 15:38

@Superscientist it took slightly longer for me the second time too. I also have a pal on her third and again it's taken longer this time. I think it may also depend how ll g it takes for the hormone levels to come down. I found this time worse in pretty much every way as I did have an embryo in there, even if it wasn't viable. The previous time was a blighted ovum so less hormones and everything was easier... I'm sorry I know the waiting is tough!

Superscientist · 17/01/2025 15:53

Thanks both of you x. I got a negative pregnancy test at 3 weeks after bleeding started both times. Both times the bleeding was at 9-10 weeks. I know the second didn't make it past 6 weeks and was very similar to the first so I expect that it was lost at a similar gestation.

I guess that's the other question, when do you date from? I've been counting from when I physically lost the pregnancy although the pregnancy had ended prior to that.

Bellabubble · 17/01/2025 15:53

@Superscientist It took me 10.5 weeks to get AF post MVA - I had that Oct 17th and didn’t get my period until after Christmas. This was my 3rd loss (I had 2 before my daughter was born)
I was doing opk’s as much as possible and didn’t ovulate until 2 weeks before AF (due to sickness in the household we never got to dtd) so my body just must have taken a while to recover. I won’t lie - I briefly considered that my body had just decided to start menopause lol!

Superscientist · 17/01/2025 16:19

@Bellabubble thanks our bodies do like to keep us in our toes don't they!

The optimist in me is saying it will give the dietary changes I'm trying to make a chance to make a difference and also that my body needs time to recover from two from the sickness, it was harder on me the second time even though the sickness was worse with the first pregnancy.

I just wish it was easier!

TrulyMiss · 17/01/2025 19:12

I had medical management so I counted from the second tablet which brought on the bleeding. To be honest it'd nearly have been better if mine took longer to come back. Still feel mentally and physically knackered but don't want to delay any more. I took an 18 month break a few months after the first loss as I couldn't cope and now I just feel like I'm running out of time as my son is 4...

Superscientist · 18/01/2025 14:37

My daughter is 4 too. I'm now looking at a 5 year gap and the new year means there's going to be another school year between them.
I am trying not to think about it too much. There's 4 and 7 years between me and my sisters I'm in the middle so there's 11 years between them. We have always been really close, closer my partner and his brother and they have 3 years between them. Temperament of the children is key age gap can't predict that!

It's hard giving yourself emotional space to recover but at the same time feeling the tick of time. I have had my birthday recently and although I know I'm only a few months older than when we were TTC last the change in age feels huge. I flip flop between omg I'm 37 I'm so old it's never going to happen and I'm only 37 there's time

PeachPombear · 18/01/2025 16:57

Hi everyone,

Joining this thread as I had a second trimester miscarriage in November 23 and have had nothing since.

I think we might have to start testing as I can’t understand why we aren’t pregnant again.

Hoping for some success this year!
