@Bellabubble thank you, so true your mind just goes to the negative. Stories like this always help!

Bellabubble · 19/12/2024 18:27

Can I get some eyes on these ovulation sticks for a second opinion? I have always had a very clear test line that comes up darker..which hasn’t happened this month. I saw Tuesday’s (17th) and thought it would continue to get darker, and did one that eve that was pretty much the same, then dis one yesterday that to me looked a little more feint, and today’s is lighter still. Do we think I missed the boat this month? DH was recovering from a sick bug so dtd would not have been an option on Tuesday, and I was at a funeral late yesterday afternoon so wasn’t really in the right head space.

my only other thought is that my body attempted to ovulate but didn’t quite manage and will try again - I’m exactly 9weeks post MVA and this is the darkest set of lines I have had so far!

Hello, just catching up as I haven’t posted in a good few months or checked these forums.
Will post again properly later x

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/12/2024 08:42

I’m so sorry to hear that you have had another loss @Superscientist I remember you from when I was posting before and your words were so insightful and kind.

@Figtree11 you poor thing with flu. I think it can really mess things up cycle wise. I think we had MCs at the same time earlier this year and I remember us posting together. I’m so sorry to hear you’re still here as well.

Bit of background on me - 38.5, DH 47, we have a nearly 11 yo. We started TTC in May 23 and had MMCs with surgical management in Jan 24 and Apr 24. Decided to stop trying. Now I am starting to think about it again but haven’t even discussed with DH yet as he said back in August when I asked that he was at 90% no. Just following the thread for the ride at the moment as if I decide I want to keep TTC I will discuss with him, and of course if he’s still not keen then that will certainly be it for us.

Figtree11 · 20/12/2024 17:42

@Superscientist my second blood test to confirm APS has come back as negative 🤦🏼‍♀️ the consultant seemed convinced before that I have it, but my most recent blood test came back as super low, so now been told I don’t have it! Did find out I have PCOS though. Starting on metformin next week

@CurlyWurly1991 nice to hear from you, yes we chatted earlier this year when I had my loss end of April. I hope you are doing as well as can be & that you and DH decide how you want to proceed. Its so hard

OP posts:
CurlyWurly1991 · 20/12/2024 18:35

@Figtree11 that must be confusing for you that you expected APS and were told PCOS… I wonder if that might be a less concerning diagnosis? Great to hear that you are being offered treatment right away. May I ask is this via an NHS or private fertility doctor?

Yeah so hard. I had put the idea to sleep but it does keep popping up (typically around ovulation time lol). Having a child already means I am not completely focused on TTC - I know I would be OK to let go of the idea of another if I had to. I think if I didn’t have her then I would go to the ends of the earth to try… it is all consuming.

Hope everyone has some peace and rest over the Christmas break xx

I’m interested in how to managed to get metformin? NHS or private?
i have PCOS but have been refused metformin up to now.
You must be relieved im sure to not have the APS diagnosis?

Nosejug · 20/12/2024 20:56

Oh wow congrats @Blueskies4 . All the very best on this journey. I long so much for a positive again, but I can only imagine the feelings it opens up. Sending positivity your way :) @Superscientist I'd actually given up running for fear that it was impacting my chances. I've miss it a lot though, and was kind of thinking I might do little runs to help my mind. I just get carried away when a good tune comes on (lol...sunchyme actually makes me sprint) so maybe I'll jog to audiobooks.

Figtree11 · 20/12/2024 22:43

@CurlyWurly1991 yeah it really threw me, as I was expecting them to call & say the APS has now been officially diagnosed. But obviously not! Yes I believe it’s not as serious as APS, as that would be daily injections to thin the blood. And I guess even with PCOS I have got pregnant before, so hopefully the metformin helps me ovulate more often & help prevent miscarriage. This is through nhs, I was referred to a Tommys miscarriage clinic after my second loss, waited 6 months for my first appt

I can totally see where you are coming from - I don’t have any children so I feel like it’s fully all consuming, and I know I want to be a mum. So I feel like I need to keep battling through even though it’s hard

@Ncl31 oh really that’s very frustrating. Who has refused you metformin & have they said why?
Mine is thru nhs - Tommys recurrent miscarriage clinic. The consultant rang me today & said my lh levels are high which indicates PCOS, and I’ve not had a period in like 8 weeks. So she there & then prescribed metformin to take, and if I get pregnant to continue taking it then too. I pick up the prescription next week.
Yeah I’m relieved I don’t have APS, but a part of me did feel like it would have explained the miscarriages more than PCOS does, and so I’m more nervous about another loss now

OP posts:
Ncl31 · 21/12/2024 07:43

@Figtree11 theyve told me it’s not licensed so they don’t have to prescribe it. Apparently it’s entirely up to the doctor but the clinic I attend doesn’t agree with it apparently. Very frustrating. Although I’m now on letrozole so ovulating on cd14-18 each cycle now. Just taken my third course with 3 more to go.
they do say 75% of people conceive within 6 months so keeping fingers crossed

Figtree11 · 21/12/2024 08:13

@Ncl31 thats really annoying, I wonder why they don’t agree with it. I’m glad the letrozole is working for you though. I’m really hoping the metformin helps me, and I start ovulating on similar days to what you now are

Blueskies4 · 21/12/2024 09:22

@Bellabubble i find these ones really tricky and never had any lines this dark, so I'm not much help sorry!

@Nosejug thanks lovely.. I know it’s ultimately the aim, but straight into worry mode!

Ahh @Figtree11 - i was sure u had pcos from posts on a different thread in the past

Im on metformin for my pcos

Have u asked for slow release metformin? ( easier on the bowels / body )

@Figtree11 - have u had your tubes checked recently ?

I highly recommend private hyfosy if not

( just to rule it out )

I have pcos
Have miscarriage history
Was put on metformin

Also letrozole ( to super ovulate - even tho i ovulate alone )
.then
Had a private hyfosy

( now blocked tubes )

So ivf pending

After 3 cycles of letrozole
.
My nhs consultant recommended hyfosy

NHS wait was 5 months

So we got private hyfosy very fast for 500 gbp

Sending luck

worldwidetravel2017 · 21/12/2024 18:16

We have a hosp appt

Re recurrent miscarriage pending

( agreed to be seen by recurrent miscarriage clinic)

But we already know my blood clots too fast

And ivf soon.

Those of you with pcos - ask NHS to test your urate

High urate = common in pcos patients

DonnaWhat · 21/12/2024 19:58

Just checking in with you all, I Hope you're all doing ok?

@Blueskies4 Congratulations to you. I have everything crossed for a sticky bean. I had spotting with this pregnancy too and obviously jumped to worst as I have also had 2 miscarraiges this year but all is well at 22 weeks. I would ask your epu if they offer reassurance scans. Mine fobbed me off when I had a chemical pregnancy in june and when pregnant with this baby I went for a private reassurance scan and all was well. Then when I went for my 12 week scan they said "oh we would have done a reassurance scan" 🤐🙄 please keep us all posted on your journey and the very best of luck x

@Superscientist I used premom for tracking and got pregnant quite quickly each time. I also took pregnacare prenatals. All the very best for TTC next year ❣️

@Figtree11 it's good to see you have finally got a diagnosis and that they can start helping you. Hopefully the metformin does wonders for you and helps to start getting you on your journey. Other than the diagnosis how have you been? Xxxx

Blueskies4 · 21/12/2024 20:10

@DonnaWhat thank you xx I think I missed your announcement on here (I was MIA on the chat for a few months this year!), congratulations!! Hope you’re doing well?

I phoned the bereavement midwife on Friday and she got back to me today with an early scan next week. Really glad they’ve got me in (I’ve been fobbed off before too previously), as I’ve been spotting and cramps so at least I’ll know where I’m at asap xx

DonnaWhat · 21/12/2024 20:30

@Blueskies4 I'm doing OK now. I'm not going to lie I have been a nervous wreck getting to where I am today. There's one day difference between me and ella31. I'm sure me and the private scan place are on first name terms 😆 you question every single niggle, it's not nice on your mental health being pregnant after miscarriage as many of us know but make sure you keep looking after you. You know your body best and if you feel you need more reassurance make sure you reach out because it's just as scary being pregnant again. Thinking it will happen again etc. You'll have to keep us posted. Make sure plenty of rest 💓

Joining because I feel lonely and I like reading these threads.

Pregnancy loss was at the beginning of last month, just finished my first period since which ended up being a 40 day cycle but it was an odd one that ended up only being about 3 days long with the first day being the only day of proper period.

Tested my ovulation this cycle starting two days ago at the very end of my period and yesterday my LH was 4.11 and today it's back down to 0.08, confusing. Does anyone here know anything about surges and how they work?

I really want a positive soon. I want my rainbow baby so badly!!!!

Wishing everyone TTC luck and cheering on those who have already had BFP. I really really hope my time comes soon.

Have u been assessed for potentially having pcos ?
.multiple lh surges are common in pcos patients

So sorry to hear of your loss
Weve been there

I do regret leaving months and months between our miscarriage and private tube flush test

I do recommend potentially getting a tube flush in 4 - 6 months

Even tho we conceived last yr
( early miscarriage)
And then did 3 x letrozole cycles this summer

We eventually did tube flush privately
And both tubes were then blocked

( even tho they werent last yr )

Have u had your vit d tested? And shbg ? And have they tested on nhs how fast your blood clots ?

@worldwidetravel2017

Thank you for your reply <3 no tests for anything yet, my pregnancy loss was medically induced so I don't think I'm on the books for anything test-wise until we've been trying for longer. I won't go into the reasons why because it's really painful for me to talk about.

Last time we conceived it took 4 months, so I'm hoping I should see something positive in the new year. I've only been pregnant the one time so am quite know for what to expect.

Before the loss my periods were incredibly regular and reliable so I always knew what to expect, but I didn't test ovulation at that point cause we were just "not trying but not preventing" because I had inner fears I was infertile. Thankfully that wasn't the case, but it's really hard knowing what to expect now! I'm hoping things will settle down soon.

marmiteontoastx · 22/12/2024 13:39

@worldwidetravel2017 sorry, I forgot to say my vitamin D levels are fine and nothing else has popped up that I'm concerned about as far as I know!

You can have pcos even with regular cycles
Theres 4 types of pcos

My advice would be to be assed for pcos

I also really recommend hertility health - ive used them twice - money very well spent

Sending all the luck for the future
