MocktailMe · 10/06/2024 11:59

Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

Hi ladies! ☀️
@MocktailMe how is your TWW going? Are you keeping a positive mindset?!

So I did get an LH surge Friday night, a peak early Saturday morning (hello testing 4 (!) times a day). But due to timing/tiredness issues only managed DTD Saturday night. That was around the time when I started feeling cramping on my right side, which I think was ovulation. I really hope we still caught it just in time, as we didn't DTD before the peak either. The peak did come a couple days earlier than I expected. At least it doesn't mean a long cycle, and I am happy even with the fact that ovulation happened . lol. Baby steps, pun not intended! 😂

MocktailMe · 11/08/2024 16:08

I think a peak in the AM and sex PM is basically perfect...peak means you will be ovulating somewhere between 12-24 hours in the future...so sounds to me like u hit the timing just right!

You're ever so slightly behind me, but we will be POS at the same time!

I'm feeling okay and positive, unlike last month when I was absolutely certain it hadn't happened. I am worried though that after all this positivity and hope that if it doesn't work the crash is going to hit me hard. But I suppose I'll worry about that when I get there!!!

@MocktailMe good evening all 🙂

All ok over here. I am CD17 and had a positive OPK today (2nd time I’ve had a peak on CD 17) cervical mucus consistent with ovulation so I’m being positive! Still no actual period since stopping the pill in Feb only been having withdrawal type bleeds, a bit similar to implantation bleeding. These are every month like clockwork so my body is trying to do something lol. Finished my first box of inofolic alpha so let’s see what this peak brings! Holiday tomorrow so hoping this will be a relaxing time.

Another scan with the NHS 16th Sep so will see what comes from that!

Hope you are all ok!

MocktailMe · 12/08/2024 10:08

Hopefully your scan brings good news!

It's great that you're ovulating, despite the periods being a little patchy it certainly seems a sign of things going in the right direction. As I understand it the pill prevents the uterine lining from getting too thick as well as ovulation, so possible it is just working it's way back from there. Once it's thicker you'll get a proper bleed.

Have a brilliant holiday, great timing for ovulation!

Hello! Fingers crossed for @MocktailMe @CharLdn and any one else currently in TWW!

That miracare thing looks really interesting, thanks so much for sharing @CharLdn I had no idea such a thing existed so I'm going to look into getting it.

I'm also currently in TWW, 11dpo, period due on Saturday. I'm not hopeful at all for this month. I had a glimmer of hope last week around 6/7dpo when I had lots of cramps, I thought maybe it could be implantation but it was probably just something I ate... I've developed such an unhelpful habit of symptom spotting!

Today is 4 days before period due and I've woken up feeling really blue, and got the usual PMS-y heaviness so I don't think this is my month.

I'm trying to get my fibroids taken seriously but GP and gynaecologist are both minimising so not sure how to move forward - has anyone else had similar issues with fibroids?

Good luck to everyone heading into an ovulation window soon!!!

MocktailMe · 13/08/2024 10:51

@LuckyFinch have you tested yet? I'm impressed if not! I don't think I'll last til 11DPO (I never do!!!).

I've never had an issue with fibroids personally but generally with the NHS I find persistence is the only way to get anything done. Also you have the right to request a different doctor at your surgery, if you feel one is robbing you off you can ask to see a different one for a new opinion! I think personally I would try that. But I'd be testing first as you never know. Fingers crossed for you xxx

OP posts:
LuckyFinch · 13/08/2024 11:33

Haven't tested. .. I used to but would get so sad seeing a negative test and then so sad again when period showed up so it was a bit of a double whammy! So I now don't even buy tests to avoid the temptation and just wait to come on.

I swear managing the mental side of this is most of the battle 😆

Think you're spot on with persistence for the NHS - and I've just arranged a follow up call for early September with the gynaecologist to try again.. thanks for the encouragement...! Will get my demanding hat on for the appointment.

Tater05 · 13/08/2024 14:29

Hi, I hope it's ok to join! The title of this thread is me now, I'm 30 DH is 31 and we're going into cycle 6 ttc #1.

I've been pretty chilled out about it so far but there's something about hitting the 6 month mark that's made me realise this really could take a while. I wasn't expecting it to happen straight away but was kinda hoping it would be about 3 or 4 months, which is silly as we have no control over it.

I started tracking ovulation after cycle 3 and it showed that I only had a 9 day luteal phase, so I did some research and started taking some vitamins (B6, B complex and C as well as multi vitamins) and thankfully my LP lengthened to 13 days the next cycle. I usually have regular cycles of around 28 days but ovulate quite late. Looks like I'm getting 32 day cycles now but that's fine if it means it gives more time for implantation to happen!

I was quite hopeful for the last cycle as we were on holiday for the week leading up to ovulation so we were both fully relaxed, I'd started taking my vitamins, we dtd on all the right days and if I could choose the birth month it would be April haha. But it clearly wasn't to be! It's also been a month of friends having pregnancy announcements, one friend in particular I'm thrilled for as it's taken her years but the announcements always come just as I've convinced myself it's fine and we're in no rush. Always the way isn't it!

Anyway I'm on CD 11, I usually ovulate around CD 19 but I don't know if the vitamins will have changed that. It's also going to be my first month tracking BBT consistently.

I've held off joining any of these threads because I try not to think about TTC too much or I'll obsess over it and stress myself out, but maybe this way I can get all my thoughts down here and support others in the same boat 😊

So glad I found this. I’m 31 too! We were going to starf TTC this month, having had regular periods, however haven’t had a period this month at all and am 12 days late. Spent an obscene amount of money on tests and cant tell if evap or positive but then i’m do a test and nothing shows up. I’m feeling borderline crazy as I cant stop doing tests its like a niggley feeling. I am hoping for us both. Feel like something is going on - have bloods and a scan at the end of the month due to stomach lump but eeeek just feels stressful in the unknown limbo period. Xx

MocktailMe · 14/08/2024 00:51

@LuckyFinch great news for the appointment! As much as I hate the medical intervention it gets me through each cycle in a way as I can tell myself if it doesn't work at least I've got an appointment waiting so it's not wasted time trying!!!

Good for you for not testing. I completely understand and don't think I do myself any favours by obsessively testing but it gives me a false sense of control I think that's hard to give up.

Welcome @Tater05! I agree it is silly isn't it but I too had an 'acceptable' wait period in my mind of 3-4 months where I figured I would be okay with it not happening. Back to the control issue again...sadly it's just not up to us! Try not to worry about the shorter luteal phase, I've read plenty of threads where women conceive with similar lengths.

Welcome @JW24M ! What I will say from personal experience and these boards is, if your period is truly 12 days late and you are pregnant it will almost certainly show on a test. It's extremely hard and I've wanted to believe otherwise but generally 12DPO is the cut off point for a test to show up - anyone testing positive later is likely to have actually ovulated later. And another thing I've learned is that unless you track ovulation you can't know how late you are or not...it's amazed me to discover how late I sometimes ovulate! You may think you are 12 days late, but you possibly only ovulated 7 or 8 days ago so it wouldn't show on a test yet, if you see what I mean! Get on Amazon and order a nice big pack of ovulation strips, they'll soon be your best friend 😅 good luck for the bloods and scan, hoping that niggling feeling is right and you have recently caught!!!

I'm so excited for the first BFP among us. I know it will be on the way soon for one of us lucky ladies!

You are so right! TMIIII but I’ve had some cramping and brown stuff last eve, barely anything today, so i’m super unsure if that is implantation or start of late period. It’s barely there today which for my period is very unusual. Not going to get hopes up until I test on Friday.

hoping for us all 🤞🏽🤞🏽❤️❤️

lavafield · 14/08/2024 08:48

Good luck @JW24M when you test on Friday! I will be away this weekend so it will be a good distraction, and will test Monday morning which will be 9DPO for me (which is likely still early too!)
@MocktailMe when are you testing?
I so hope this will be a month of many BFPs for us!

Hi all! Hoping to join the 'not so' fun - been a long time lurker 😂

My husband and I are on cycle 11 of trying, just a bit short of that months wise due to me having quite short cycles (25 days). No children, never been pregnant. Sort of resigned myself to it not happening naturally for us at this point. We have had tests done which have all come back fine but haven't even had the slightest hint of a BFP at all. I have very regular cycles and have always managed to work out when I have ovulated through tests / BBT so I know we are dtd on the right days but still nada.

Looking for a safe space to rant / share in the misery given all my friends seem to have been blessed with super fertility. X

Tater05 · 14/08/2024 11:05

Thanks @MocktailMe , I've read plenty of those threads too so fingers crossed it will happen, might just take a little bit longer!

Hi @ToomanyBFNs! It must be so frustrating having the tests come back fine and still nothing, but remember it's normal for it to take a year for a completely healthy couple to conceive. Did you do at home fertility tests? I'm thinking of doing some in the next couple of months if nothing happens. I've seen quite a few people on these threads conceive after a year when their tests had all come back fine so there's still hope. A lot of it seems to be down to luck each month!

JW24M · 14/08/2024 11:23

Can I ask @MocktailMe or anyone really, what time of day do you do ovulation tests? I keep going them at 7pm at night and getting random colours.. wondering if I should do it earlier in the day? xx

I usually do them around half 10/11am then closer to the peak I test again in the afternoon, if I think it's the peak day I test again in the evening. I wfh so it's easy enough for me to do it whenever, not sure how you'd do it if you go into work.

I also only dip the test for about 15 seconds and leave it for 8 minutes before checking the result. I used to dip it for longer and wait less time and my results were all over the place so this has helped.

Thank you so much! I think i’m going to do them earlier and then follow suit on the additional ones when there’s a peak. I do my temp when I wake up too. Do you see a huge spike in temp? I’ve ranged from 36.4 to 36.9.. xx

Tater05 · 14/08/2024 11:41

@JW24M I had 35.9 on my LH peak day then it jumped up to 36.4, that was the first month I tried testing BBT though and I don't think I was doing it properly!

It's still ranging from 36.1 to 36.6 this week and I'm not in the fertile window yet so I'm not sure what that's about, I don't understand temp as much!

It is so super confusing! I predict my ovulation to be around 12-16th however this is all over the shop! I am super late this month though so no clue & I did change brands. Hmm!! Xx

I see what you mean! Hopefully testing earlier will give you clearer results. I'd also recommend using the premom app, it tells you the number for lh levels which is handy for seeing your peak. You have to pay a bit for it but it's so worth it for keeping track of everything xx
