Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

@MocktailMe Sorry af arrived😢 but at least you’re in a fresh new cycle now. I’m 8dpo today… when I wiped yesterday I had a tiny bit of blood on the tissue, along with fairly intense cramps all day. In 8 cycles I’ve never had anything like this before and never spot in the middle of my cycle. I’ve had no blood or symptoms since so no idea what’s going on?! I’m obviously trying to convince myself not to get to excited but I feel like potentially it’s a good sign, who knows?!

lavafield · 25/07/2024 07:57

Morning!
@Familyfirst12 it could be implantation bleeding! Fingers crossed! Are you going to be an early test addict or wait till AF time? Exciting!!
@MocktailMe Hope this cycle is your month! You never know, right? So at the very least we should all remain optimistic!

I am still testing negative at 13DPO so I am out this month but I will write July off as I was travelling with quite a few longish flights, ill with a virus, little sleep and felt right away somehow it didn't help.

On to August surprises! 💫

MocktailMe · 25/07/2024 10:15

Thanks @lavafield youre right new cycle onwards and upwards!!

I have some swabs to have taken on the 27th August, and then this is essentially my last cycle to try without some further assistance, and my Hysterosalpingogram will be on cycle day 10 next cycle (expecting to be having that done around first week of September should all go to plan).

I'm hopeful that the Metformin will start doing something in time for this ovulation to give me a helping hand.

Everything crossed for this month to be the month. My partner will be having his sperm test August too hopefully.

@lavafield I’m going to wait until Saturday morning to test - I’ll be 10dpo then. It’s all I can think about though so god knows if I’ll make it to Saturday?! Sorry to hear you’re BFN, how long are your cycles, when will your next fertile period be?

lavafield · 25/07/2024 11:31

My cycles are about 30-32 days long, very occasionally can be 35-37, so quite a long time to wait! The next fertile period is second week of August 🤞

Familyfirst12 · 25/07/2024 11:50

I've had bit more coloured discharge this morning on a liner. Wouldn't even call it blood really it's just browny cm. No idea what's going on but I'm just scared that the Metformin I was prescribed this month for my PCOS has messed up my cycles and I'm now having a very short luteal phase and this is the start of af. Wish I knew what was going on

LuckyFinch · 25/07/2024 20:52

Hi 👋🏼 hope it's OK to join.. I've been looking for a thread for some support as I don't really know anyone IRL who is going through the same thing.. in fact it feels like everyone I know conceived pretty much immediately!

I'm 32, been TTC with my husband for around 8-9 months now for our first and it's starting to really affect me (I wasn't exactly chill from the get go.. 🙄). Had some hormonal blood tests done at the start of this year which showed prolactin at crazy levels so got a referral through my work PMI to an endocrinologist and ruled out any pituitary tumour.. she didn't really know why it was so high and it gradually tracked back down to normal level so that was that. My cycles have always been pretty regular around 28 days +/-1-2.

In the spring I did the hertility fertility MOT, blood tests otherwise normal but again showed high prolactin so back to endocrinologist, repeat blood tests, which were all normal again... did the transvaginal ultrasound with hertility and it showed I have some fibroids but apparently nothing that should really impact fertility.

FF to last month where I had a hycosy in record time on the NHS which showed things as normal but did note the fibroid as well which seems to have grown by 1cm since spring and also noted a small submucosal fibroid which sounded new... was hoping we'd have a success the month after hycosy as I've heard it can increase fertility for 1-2 months after but unfortunately no luck.

In the background, we sometimes use at home insemination to increase our attempts during ovulation window as (surprisingly).. me barking that it's time for sex is not always the sexiest and creates a lot of pressure!

Sorry for the super long first post - just wanted to set the scene a little in case anyone has any similar experience to share!

Glad to have & give a bit of support as I'm starting to lose my mind with the 1 year mark approaching rapidly!

CharLdn · 28/07/2024 17:39

@LuckyFinch hello and welcome sounds like you’re also on the rollercoaster 🎢 too!

@Familyfirst12 everything crossed for you ❤️

@lavafield onto a new month for us 🤞

I had my trans vag ultrasound today no cysts everything looked normal so I’m focussing on pin pointing ovulating.

im going to get an oura ring and also Mira care fertility app so I can definitely know when I’m ovulating as it seems to vary every month.

Then got sperm tests in late Aug - my husband really needs to start exercising but he’s started doing 16:8 fasting to try and lose weight so that’s good. I think in the best case scenario we probably could do with losing about 10kg each…

my Accupuncturist has been so supportive I’m so happy with her mostly for the mental support. Also after my pathalogical levels of exercise I’m actually feeling fitter! Which is nice!

KTB34 · 28/07/2024 18:30

Hi count me in! I am in the same boat!

Came off the pill in Feb after 10 years. No period at all!

Been for blood tests and a private scan, and been told I have mildly polycystic ovaries. Currently taking inofolic alpha and doing ovulation tests every cycle but still no pregnancy yet 😥

CharLdn · 29/07/2024 10:51

Welcome @KTB34 to the party!

@MocktailMe everything crossed for this month ❤️

MocktailMe · 30/07/2024 02:04

Thanks guys.

This is month 11, albeit cycle 9. All the statistics about how most couples conceive within a year are really banging home how if it doesn't happen this month it probably won't ever happen (naturally at least, if it all).

It's just so unfair how we are all stuck waiting. I'm beginning to feel completely depressed about it all. I have never felt so stuck in my life. With anything else I've always been able to make my decision and make it happen - things like changing jobs, buying a new house etc etc. You decide you're ready, then you make the steps to make it happen and then it happens! Except for this; there's nothing I can do to make it happen and wanting it and being ready doesn't mean a thing.

I really don't think this month will be any different, I actually feel completely resigned to the fact my period will be back in 30 days.

Familyfirst12 · 30/07/2024 10:16

BFN for me at 13dpo so af will be along shortly... I feel so awful about this whole thing, there are a lot of tears in my house at the moment. I actually said to DH yesterday I just don't know how long I can go on feeling like this. I couldn't agree more @MocktailMe that I'm quite used to making things happen... if I want something, I work my arse off until it's possible. this is so different though isn't it. I can't trust my body at all.. I was sure that the bleeding I had at 7/8dpo was implantation and finally had a bit of hope. I just can't trust any 'symptom'. Feeling incredibly down and now got to wait another 3 weeks for ovulation because of my long cycles... just so so shit. Sorry feel like I'm really doubling down on my own negativity and not really checking in on anyone else on this thread - sometimes it's just so consuming isn't it. Hope everyone is okay Xx

CharLdn · 30/07/2024 10:25

@MocktailMe I feel that so deeply - ‘making things happen’ has always been me and it’s so deeply frustrating when we’re doing everything right.

I’ve found therapy and Accupuncture really helpful for emotional support. My Accupuncturist said she sees most people take a few years and it’s a myth it’s a year for so many people it’s not.

I’m trying to view it more as an ongoing process and trying to increase the probability but it’s a bloody long slog!!!!

LuckyFinch · 30/07/2024 18:51

It's so difficult to feel so powerless about it and not actually be able to just make it happen. I've recently started counselling and really recommend it to try and help navigate all the emotions.

I think my ovulation window is going to start shortly, and part of me just doesn't want to try this month cause if we don't try then I can't be hopeful to just get disappointed.. but I know if we don't try I'll be kicking myself for a wasted cycle.

It's soul destroying especially when you feel you're veering into the 1yr+ territory but think we're all proof that it does take some people longer so just got to try and keep the faith 😟

MocktailMe · 30/07/2024 20:15

Thanks guys - it is nice to hear in a weird way that we all feel the same way. I get the feeling we are all quite similar characters here - a bit micromanagy and the sort of women who tend to go full steam into what we want!

I've always been this way, and have generally got a good track record in planning things and executing them very well. So I'm struggling with this being so different.

@LuckyFinch I often feel similarly before ovulation, like can I actually bear to try this cycle??? It feels like it would be easier not to some months and spare the pain, but the voice in my head always says....what if this month is the only decent egg!!! You can't miss it!!! It's hell.

OP posts:
CharLdn · 31/07/2024 11:19

@MocktailMe and @LuckyFinch I had a month off in July and it actually was really nice so if you can mentally I’d recommend it.

we actually ended up having sex anyway during the fertile time because we wanted to!! Which was fab.

Anyway I wanted to share I’ve started tracking using a miracare device miracare.com which tracks lh, fsh and e3g and progesterone. It was expensive it was about 250 + 150 for tests but I’m going to see how I get on.

It gives you much more data than just LH levels because my body goes on its own random schedule of ovulation (despite not having pcos) maybe it’s my ADHD lol.

So I’m hoping to actually pin point ovulation - along with testing bbt and tracking body signs and discharge.

it’s making me feel better because it’s less guesswork. Still waiting on husband to do sperm tests (I’m convinced his sperm are doing the back stroke).

but anyway I’ll see how I go with it and let you know if it’s worth the money. I figure it’s cheaper than ivf..

MocktailMe · 03/08/2024 18:26

Hey @CharLdn that sounds really interesting please let us know how you get on! Deffo expensive but will be one hundred percent worth it if it works!! Does it test urine?

I'm back at it this month trying to have renewed faith. My partners sperm test is booked for two weeks time, and I've had my Metformin increased to a 1000mg dose from 500. Hoping it will help.

I'm also using ovulation sticks again this month. If I identify a peak what I'll do is keep testing after anyway as I know now I can have multiple ones and aim to hit them all no matter how many.

Going to give this everything I've got for august 🥰

OP posts:
CharLdn · 03/08/2024 22:15

@MocktailMe yes it tests urine but checks LH progesterone and e3g and fsh so tells you when your LH is rising not just peak.

I’m also tracking bbt too plus discharge etc so I can build a picture.

My partners sperm tests in a few weeks too hopefully it will give us a clearer picture.

I’m a bit more patient at the moment as my ultrasound last week said I had no cysts and 18-19 follicles which apparently is good…

im using conceive plus lube, wild nutrition supplements plus Accupuncture so also throwing the kitchen sink at it!

MocktailMe · 07/08/2024 19:17

CD17 I got a peak on OPK test this morning and had REAAALLY stretchy egg white CM have had sex this evening and im just aboslutely praying ill have caught this time!!!

OP posts:
lavafield · 08/08/2024 13:05

@MocktailMe this is great news! It does feel good knowing we timed it right, it's the least we can do. Fingers crossed for you this month! 🌟

MocktailMe · 08/08/2024 18:09

Thank you! Such a silly thing to be pleased about really but I'm just so glad I caught it. More EWCM this evening and I'm hoping we will DTD again for luck but I also had cramps over lunch so I do think I have now ovulated, and I think the sex last night should have done the trick (if this month is to be my month at least). But if we can tonight, we will!

OP posts:
CharLdn · 09/08/2024 16:09

@MocktailMe everything crossed 🤞

CharLdn · 09/08/2024 16:12

For anyone interested this is the Mira data I managed to DTD the Friday/Saturday before LH peak on Monday plus Monday and Tuesday so definitely timed things right this month 🤞

TTC #1 no previous pregnancies cycle #6 - looking for others in the same boat!
MocktailMe · 09/08/2024 23:14

Hey @CharLdn that's amazing timing!!!

I'm now 1dpo and looks like you are 3dpo? So we are going into the 2WW together. Everything crossed for us both!!
