Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

@MocktailMe you know I said to my Husband I spent most of my 20’s trying not to get pregnant and now look!

I don’t know if any of you have been on birth control but coming off it and my periods disappearing I wish I never went on it! I don’t think enough information is given

100% - imagine if we was educated that we could only get pregnant 5/6 days of the month and that you could naturally track that using temp ect to avoid instead of filling our bodies with hormones.

I’m 30, came off of birth control a year ago. Was on it since being 16. My periods have returned regularly, but definitely not as they were. I’m lucky to bleed for 2 days. This is probably why I’m slightly concerned there is something wrong, as it is almost like not having a period. I did raise this with a dr who said I was completely fine as obviously ovulating if I have a regular cycle.. and wouldn’t check anything.

In school you was almost made to believe looking at a boy would impregnate you.. yet I’m having to pee on sticks, have sex daily and pray with still no luck 🤣

KTB34 · 11/10/2024 21:18

@KT199 that reminds me of the coach from Mean Girls 🤣

But no I agree. I just always assumed growing up you could get pregnant whenever, how wrong was we!

I was on the pill from 24 till 34, stopped in Feb to TTC and my periods never came back. Every month I’d have what I can only describe as an implantation bleeding but it was the same day each month. So I think my body was trying to do something, then was told my ovaries were mildly polycystic, I think the pill masked this.

We need to recruit a Dr on this thread lol

HAHAH do not have sex, because you will get pregnant and die 🤣🤣. IF ONLY the first half was correct !!!!

I have used a variety of forms but always been covered (mini pill, pill, injection and then 2 implants). My periods did return straight away, but it’s the lack of flow and no one taking it seriously. How did you find out about your ovaries, if you don’t mind me asking of course.

KTB34 · 11/10/2024 21:31

@KT199 I don’t mind you asking at all might help someone else!

I went to my GP who sent me for loads of blood tests and referred me for scans (but the wait was too long) so I found a private clinic. The specialist found it via an abdominal/ transvaginal scan. She gave me photos and a detailed report. She explained she wasn’t sure if I was even ovulating and that explained the absent periods.

Fair enough!! Can they find a treatment plan to help?

Have you ever temped before? I only ask as I use NC / FF and they do confirm ovulation. Just wasn’t sure if you’ve ever tried it, and if so whether it had/hadnt confirmed it for you.

KTB34 · 11/10/2024 21:51

She recommended some supplements to me and said to go back in 6 months if nothing happened and they could start me on meds with follicle tracking but then we got pregnant. So I will hopefully be going back we will see what happens.

I’ve not done temp tracking yet, I was going the Clear Blue tests (the pink ones). But as my cycle wasn’t regular as soon as my ‘fake’ periods stopped I started using the sticks as didn’t know when my ovulation was, turned out for 2 cycles I ovulated on CD 17.

There’s a lot of stuff out there, hard to know which products are good or not

Hi ladies.

I've just taken another test this is evening of 12DPO with a hold of around 4 hours - I'm pretty dehydrated right now.

This photo was taken before it dried, as you can see the colour is still running through the test. You can barely barely see this line, only in very good lighting.

I've been stung before with some fairly realistic looking indents and evaps on this sort of test, but this is the first that you can actually see on a photo.

Honest opinions please. Is this an indent that I'm simply fooling myself over? Seems very late at 12DPO for a first glimpse of anything, if it's real it would surely be properly dark by now?

I can definitely see a line, I’m no expert but typically thought indents wouldn’t show colour and I can absolutely see pink! I don’t want to get your hopes up, but 12 DPO would be normal to first see a line if implantation was 10DPO and it would be very faint! Do you have any other brands of tests you could try with the same sample?! If not you will have to wait until tomorrow morning however I’m sure that will be a sleepless night!

Fingers crossed for you!! Keep us updated

MocktailMe · 12/10/2024 22:15

No, I only have the internet cheapies, all the same batch.

The photo was taken after probably only 3 minutes or so, after the test dried it got so faint, now an hour later I genuinely can barely even see it - I wouldn't even notice it as it is now. Surely that's not a good sign.

I think it was probably a dodgy indent but I will keep testing.

houwseevryweekend · 12/10/2024 23:03

It looks like a pink line to me in that first photo! The darkness of the line is dependent on the amount of HCG, and at 12 DPO it's common to not have a lot - depending on when it caught. Maybe test with a clear blue tomorrow for peace of mind. Keeping fingers crossed for you!

lavafield · 13/10/2024 06:38

It does look like a faint line to me, an indent I once had showed an uneven thin line, I think a barely there shadow could be the right kind of line! What does it show today?

@MocktailMe how are you?

I would probably advise getting maybe like a clear blue test they’re very accurate. Might help to put your mind at rest?

MocktailMe · 13/10/2024 10:27

Hey. I can't see anything really on this morning's test. Maybe the tiniest faintest shadow ever - similar to how last night's dried, fainter really. Probably kidding myself.

I don't think I'll be buying any different tests, I'm just going to wait for my period. If what I saw yesterday was real then eventually this brand will turn stronger. Or in a week or so I'll get a fancy test if still nothing either way.

@MocktailMe

I’m so sorry, I know it can be disappointing 💔

Maybe wait a week? If you are pregnant your missed period will be a sign ❤️

MocktailMe · 13/10/2024 16:20

Thanks, it's okay, I really did in my heart expect it to be an indent or dodgy test or something. They never bring good news for me!

Period is due tomorrow based on LH testing, so I'm sure I'll have my answer soon enough.

MocktailMe · 13/10/2024 16:22

The worst thing is that I showed my boyfriend. He's never seen an evap or an indent or anything - to him a faint line is a positive and he's now clearly convinced I am pregnant. He says it's early days and the tests are cheap and probably crap etc and actually believes if I simply wait a day or two we will have our blazing BFP. That's hard to be around frankly.

Waitingformiracle · 13/10/2024 16:40

@MocktailMe I'm so sorry that happened to you! I had a really believable indent on one of those before and it's heart breaking

Sorry to read this. It can’t be easy to have your hopes up and then them fall. I’m sure your partner will understand if you have a conversation with him and explain some tests are dodgey.

I guess the clear decider will be if AF shows up tomorrow for you, if she’s due. If she hasn’t shown in a few days maybe buy a clear blue 🤞

KTB34 · 13/10/2024 20:24

I agree with @KT199 testing each month can be so disheartening because the disappointment is raw. But if AF doesn’t arrive when it’s supposed to do another test! If it’s early days your HGC may not be strong enough yet

MocktailMe · 14/10/2024 10:45

@Waitingformiracle it is just so cruel isn't it. We pray to see these lines and then to see one and it not mean anything just feels unnecessarily hard.

Period due today based on the OPKs I took but no sign and I don't feel like it's coming either. I stopped OPKs at CD 25 after they faded away and I think that was a mistake as I'm guessing I didn't actually ovulate on first peak (despite it being the darkest dye-stealer LH test I've ever seen!) so must have actually ovulated later in the cycle.

In fairness we didn't stop having sex so there's a chance I could still be in this month, but who knows, I didn't keep testing LH so no idea when the second peak would have come and the sex we had may not have lined up.

Anyway, enough of me 😂 has anyone got any news for us? How are you all doing x

OP posts:
Waitingformiracle · 14/10/2024 10:53

@MocktailMe It is so so cruel. I'm so sorry it happened to you too. It has happened to me on a few different brands of tests too. It doesn't help that when I did get a bfp it started as the faintest line that could have been an indent so that always keeps me hopeful when I think I see something. I suppose this is why waiting until our period is due to test is probably the better approach, but I can never wait. I'm on CD5 so just waiting patiently for my fertile window which should begin on the weekend. My husband has his varicocele procedure in two weeks so that is exciting. I couldn't get the hycosy this month as there were no cancellations but I have a spot for November so at least if I don't get a bfp this month I'll have that to look forward to. Otherwise I'm just enjoying this time between AF and my fertile window where I don't have to constantly think about TTC.

MocktailMe · 14/10/2024 10:58

Oh I'm so pleased you both have your procedures booked! I've honestly got everything crossed for you for a Christmas BFP you deserve it so much!

@MocktailMe Thank you so much ❤️ it would be such a miracle to have some good news by Christmas, my due date was November so it's going to be a difficult time of year. I would really love that for all of us 🤞

KTB34 · 14/10/2024 13:11

@Waitingformiracle me too ❤️❤️❤️

All seems so distant 😔
