TTC #1 no previous pregnancies cycle #6 - looking for others in the same boat!

MocktailMe · 10/06/2024 11:59

Hi all.

As per the title, TTC first baby, I've never had a confirmed pregnancy before. I'm 31, bf is 27.

Been trying to conceive 9 months, but due to PCOS only 6 cycles.

This year I've lost weight, and my cycles since January have varied from 28 days to 38 days. Had PCOS confirmed, and currently waiting for an appointment with gynaecologist to see if I need further assistance. Appointment is taking its sweet time so for now doing it the old fashioned way still with plenty of hope (at least some days, not so much others!!!).

I'm currently on cycle day number 28, negative tests, no signs of a period in sight, CM up to my eyeballs and a whole heap of doubt over when ovulation occured!!

If you are :

TTC #1
A woman who has never been pregnant
Pissing on sticks at an ALARMING rate
Potentially with PCOS but healthy ovaries welcome 😁

Then PLEASE join my thread, so in need of buddies in a similar boat! ⛵

No offence to those TTC #2 or more, genuinley ❤️ just hoping to speak to people who also have no idea what pregnancy would feel like, and who also maybe have the fear they CANNOT ever get pregnant ❤️

@SRH I actually did it right at the beginning of trying because I wanted to know if there was anything wrong, but I was 32 (I’m not sure how old you are) so I was a bit more concerned that things could be starting to decline. I’ve had lots of blood tests since and my thyroid levels are now where they need to be for TTC thanks to the medication. It did help me get pregnant once but sadly it didn’t work out, I’m hoping it will help me again but we are also dealing with male factor issues so things aren’t so easy. Otherwise my hertility test showed that things were as they should be for my age which was a relief!

I’m 30, which I presumed was a great age to start trying, but apparently fertility starts to decline from 30 onwards so I’m really trying not to spiral. Maybe I’ll have a test done but if the results are not great, I know I’ll be on the edge

Waitingformiracle · 12/09/2024 11:17

@SRH you're still very young and have only just started so if it was me (for what it’s worth) I would try yourselves for a while without looking into anything, you don’t need to look for problems that aren’t there if you get me! Hopefully it all happens quickly for you and you don’t need to concern yourself with any of this. Try and keep it as enjoyable and spontaneous as you can for a while, because it can all get very depressing if there are issues! For me I kind of sensed my hormones were out of whack so that’s why I took the test but if you don’t think there’s anything up just see how you get on for a few cycles 😊

MocktailMe · 12/09/2024 12:17

@TiredBoredGay of course, lots of us here potentially will be moving to IVF in the future so we may end in the same boat.

Did you try any at home insemination first and find that didn't work? Several of us have given that a go with our male partners to boost our chances (although no luck yet!).

Four rounds sounds gruelling, I'm sorry you're having to keep trying. I hope you get some good results today, so that you can have your egg retrieval. Have you been on medication yourself ahead of the egg retrieval? Not sure exactly the process for reciprocal IVF. Can I ask how old you both are?

I hope you've had positive news!

I agree youre both at fantastic ages for TTC but the finance situation is very hard.

An update from me is that the brownish discharge has now turned to very definite pink blood when wiping, and then checking with fingers, and cramping. If this is a period it's the shortest cycle I've ever had - this is only cycle day 23. The shortest I have ever had is 28 days.

We haven't had sex since Monday so it's not post sex bleeding which I have experienced after rough sex on very rare occasion.

I feel like i’m in the same boat. AF due on 14th..
tues 10th had pink and DC when wiping, now its turned to brown for 2 days. No other symptoms.. cant understand it. If it was pre AF old blood why did I get the bright pink with DC? I took a photo of it thinking it could be implantation bleeding but I guess I won’t know until Saturday - if AF arrives, i’m out, it it doesn’t - i’ll be even more confused than I already am 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️🤞🏽 xx

Also only notice it when wiping nothing going onto towel. Weird!!

@MocktailMe @JW24M I really hope this is the famous implantation bleeding for you both 🙏🙏🙏

I am still waiting for my period, I’m now 16DPO and nothing! I just want it to start to get going on my next cycle it’s starting to worry me a bit as my luteal phase is never longer than 14 days.

@TiredBoredGay Hi 👋 wishing you the best of
luck with your IVF journey! As MocktailMe said many of us might need to go down that route at some stage. It’s exciting that you are moving along in the process now and could get your BFP very soon all going well!

@JW24M I feel we have totally opposite problems right now! You wondering where the hell your period is, me wondering why I'm bleeding so so so early in my cycle!!

Not for the first time I'm finding myself wishing I had a little window into my body to find out what the hell is going on!!!

If this does turn into my period I'm going to be really concerned - 23 days is too short for a cycle surely, particularly when my usual ones are 30+

If it ends up being my period I'll have to speak to my doctor - I took Metformin to regulate my cycle and this is even more irregular than before I started it.

I’m so sorry - I replied to your comment in a but of a rush before as i’ve been following along for a while. I hope this isn’t a cycle for you & is the famous implantation bleeding! My AF is due on Saturday so it’s just confusing why I have this DC now since tues.xx

CosmoMango · 12/09/2024 19:50

I’m 25 and on cycle 4. On CD10 today, hoping to ovulate during more holiday next week. I have a highly stressful job and just not sure I even ovulate :(

lavafield · 12/09/2024 22:53

Hi ladies,
Really hope it is implantation bleeding for @MocktailMe and @JW24M - please keep us updated! Fingers crossed.
Good luck to those on the IVF route - indeed a likely option for many here!

I have been extremely busy over the last couple of months, which helped take my mind off TTC but also meant scheduling and timing issues again so this cycle we only DTD about 3.5-4 days before ovulation, which probably means a very low chance of conceiving. it is so hard to plan when ovulation day shifts between CD14-20, so relying on calendar is pretty useless, and I only get EWCM on the LH peak day and the next day when I can actually feel ovulation. That means DP has to jump to action with a very short notice, which is not always realistic 🤷‍♀️

It is so hard to manage the peak times - still crossing fingers for you xx

MocktailMe · 13/09/2024 02:18

Thanks ladies, but I doubt it is. I feel certain the bleeding will increase and it will be my period.

Makes sense now why I never got a positive ovulation test! I must have ovulated on day 10 on my cycle - I'd have needed to start OPK back on the 8th day, by the time I started using them I'd already ovulated. I'm honestly in shock, I've never ever had a 22 day cycle in my life, and I don't think this is a positive sign. Can you even get pregnant on such a short cycle? How could the womb lining possibly be thick enough for an egg to implant in only 6 days post period?

I think I'll have to speak to my doctor about this when I next have an appointment.

As for this new cycle, I'll have to start OPKs much earlier, in case this is a new trend for me.

I honestly feel like I can't win. For the best part of a year I've been struggling to get my cycle down from 37-42 days, and now I've just gone completely the opposite way.

Has anyone ever had a 22 day cycle?

AF arrived this morning :( onto the next cycle! xx

lavafield · 13/09/2024 08:34

@MocktailMe I had a weird 21-day cycle back in 2016, unexplained. I got 26 days a few times, which is also short for me as my usual is 30-32 days; occasionally 34-36 days.

Try not to worry and do talk to your doctor, maybe it is your body adjusting to the medicine, and next month would be better?

@JW24M sorry your AF arrived. Sounds like another unlucky months for most of us 🥲

Waitingformiracle · 13/09/2024 08:42

@JW24M AF arrived for me too this morning 😔 my cycle is just all over the place!

@MocktailMe I’m sorry you think it might be your period. I have ovulated on day 12 a few times but I think that was my earliest. Hopefully your doctor can give you some insights but try not to worry, some women have short cycles every month. FWIW I usually start testing on CD8 because of those CD 12 ovulations. Last month I got my first positive OPK on CD9.

MocktailMe · 13/09/2024 09:12

Tested and got a really faint positive (on two different strips). First I've ever had. But I'm still bleeding again now and much heavier. I think I'm having a chemical pregnancy.

Owww :(!! I’m sorry. I feel we’re all experiencing weird things this month!

Waitingformiracle · 13/09/2024 10:10

@MocktailMe I'm so sorry!! Bleeding can be normal in pregnancy but if it is heavy or you are passing tissue it does sound like maybe a chemical.

@JW24M definitely all experiencing a weird month. Just realised it's Friday the 13th
