I'm about to turn 38 and have just started TTC.

I had a fertility test/MOT done last August and the results were:

AMH 7.1 pmol/l, total antral follicle 15

The doctor said this was at the lower end of average for my age - particularly singling out the AMH.

I have no context or experience in this area. Is it particularly low? Wondering if anyone else has got pregnant with this AMH level? Have I left it too late?

Hey, I had my AMH done last year when I was 37. Result was 41.95pmol/L, which is high for my age. Nonetheless, can't conceive / haven't had a single BFP yet, even though there are no known issues preventing it, apparently. I don't know what I'm saying, maybe AMH isn't everything? You still have eggs, so if everything else is fine, there's nothing stopping you conceiving I guess!

My test result says that for age range 35-39, anywhere between 1.05 and 53.5 pmol/L is normal AMH.

Thanks. That's helpful. Haven't read before that such a low AMH is ok...

Yeah, I can't claim to know what's normal or not, just that that's what my test says. Screenshot below.

@Hairydairyfair hey, I had my AMH tested last September before I turned 35 and it was 8.6, had it tested again last month before a fertility app and it was 9.8! Not sure which was the true one but sure anyway. Doctor said it was lower then he'd like(going off the 8.6 one) but not that low that I couldn't conceive. I have been taking NMN powder in the hopes to increase my fertility, I came across an interesting thread on here and then researched it! Not sure what my AMH was in 2020 but I got pregnant with my now nearly 3 year old, and I had two pregnancies in 2022 but unfortunately miscarried both. So it is possible. Try not to get too hung up on the AMH ❤️

Can I ask about testing Amh , I haven’t had it done but isn’t it a guide of remaining number of eggs? It’s not indicative of egg quality is it? It’s one test I haven’t done yet (almost 1 year TTC) but was advised against unless would do ivf. I was told it’s only really useful for ivf as with natural conception you will release an egg each cycle so in a sense it doesn’t matter how many are actually left. Does that make sense?

worldwidetravel2017 · 11/03/2024 19:55

Coq10 = good 4 over 35s & 4 egg quality - improving it

Salty, I crave mc Donald's fries and usually a galaxy bar 😂 I have been having none of my PMS symptoms, 3 days late but still testing negative. So perhaps my new supplements is balancing out my hormones which tbh I'm just as delighted with 😂

Aw that's fantastic @worldwidetravel2017 - a really good sign. Keeping everything crossed for you. Hopefully everything sorted and in place soon so you can have a lovely holiday and then start TTC asap 💕

Nice one @worldwidetravel2017 !!
I guess this reflects the impact of all the good things you’ve been doing to support your health etc?

I’m around 7dpo (give or take a few days). Feeling my usual emotional slump.

After a year TTC … does anyone have any tips for ‘self care’ around this time (hate the term but can’t think of an equivalent)
Basically - are there any things you do in the dreaded TWW to help you get through it?

mine are -
Try and get to bed earlier if I can
Baths
swimming
listening to music
adjust work pressures / expectations and take flexi time or AL where possible
get more time on my own - really need this
Avoid symptom spotting (I suck at this)

What are yours?

I love this list. Mine are.. exercise - I mostly don't feel like it but it does help; planning some nice things to look forward to in those few days just before AF is due as I find those the hardest! Things like comfort food, going to the cinema or a coffee with a friend

Keeping everything crossed for you @worldwidetravel2017. I really hope that the colonoscopy goes well and that this is your time. You’ve worked so hard for this xxx

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here. Sending you all lots of love xxx

So I got a positive pregnancy test today, a faint line. Not holding my breath as this will be my third cycle with a + test in the last 7 months (had a chemical and then an early loss). Crossing my fingers for 3rd time lucky.
Not sure I have any symptoms, never sure if I just imagine nausea after seeing a positive test.

You could privately get hcg tested

Lalaland13 · 13/03/2024 06:21

Oh I hope it’s your month @SouthwestSis - I’ve got it all crossed for you! How many days do you think past ovulation? xxx

Lalaland13 · 13/03/2024 06:33

Totally ridiculous but I feel like am getting familiar pregnancy feelings and flutters, ovulated on Monday I think and we DTD Sunday. I feel like getting my hopes up 🤦‍♀️ need to reign it in and it’s surely far to early.

Got message another one of the antenatal group pregnant! Am happy for them and feeling okay - but prob cause I found out when I feel there is hope for me this month!

SouthwestSis · 13/03/2024 08:04

Thanks @Lalaland13 I am D15PO today.
Did another test this morning but just a cheapie so less sensitive and still a faint line.
Will do another sensitive one tomorrow to look for line progression.
Think I will try and wait until I reach 6+w (if I'm lucky enough) and then book a scan for around 8w
