I have slightly longer than usual cycles and they can be a bit irregular but period is due around Thursday.
No physical signs that it's on its way yet but husband has noticed I've been a bit emotional, but nothing new there!

Have you had a transvaginal scan to ' check ' as to why your cycles can be long ?

BiscuitDreams · 02/01/2024 18:42

VixFromThe6ix · 02/01/2024 17:56

@SouthwestSis fingers crossed 🤞

@BiscuitDreams never hurts to lurk around here. I found it most helpful. Support here is incredible and invaluable. Best of luck on your TTC journey!! Have you used opks in the past to track ovulation and is this your first?

Thanks! 😊 I have a 7-year-old and have had a late loss before. I'm painfully aware that should I get lucky and have a second child the age gap would be pretty big. I'm trying not to stress about it though because there's not much I can do about it. DC would be a brilliant big sibling in any case.

I have tracked my cycle for ages now. I mostly use FF and sometimes opks but I can always roughly work out when I'm ovulating so I've not really needed the opks much. We haven't really properly tried so we've almost avoided DTD during the fertile window because we weren't sure what we were doing. 🙈 I have used opks during this cycle and I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating today actually. We'll see what happens! I won't be too disappointed if nothing happens this month as we're going on holiday next month and I wouldn't want to feel sick etc, but I'm not getting any younger so fingers crossed.

VixFromThe6ix · 02/01/2024 22:40

@BiscuitDreams I get the time is ticking feeling. I gave birth at 38 with my first and currently pregnant with my second at 40. Good thing is that it's happening more and more where women over 40 get pregnant and give birth to healthy babies, and also there is so much more help available now. And don't worry about the age gap. You will have a good helper when you have your second.

@worldwidetravel2017 no my cycles are still within a normal range, they tend to vary between 27 and 31 days, with most of them being 29 or 30 days, so not too too long.

Clara202 · 02/01/2024 23:44

@VixFromThe6ix can I ask how many cycles it took you to conceive both, and if you did anything in particular that you think helped? I love seeing stories of people conceiving in their late 30s/40s, gives me hope

VixFromThe6ix · 03/01/2024 13:55

@Clara202 first pregnancy that resulted in a MC was quick, first cycle trying. Took a year break from trying cause I was mentally shocked. Second one which was also a MC took probably two or three cycles once we tried again.
At this point we went to the fertility clinic for help with recurring mcs. All tests came back good, so they put me in progesterone. I swear that this is what saved my third pregnancy as I had spotting leading up to my periods before it and what that did was not let my uterine lining to thicken enough for the embryo to stick, hence the mcs. This took I believe 3-4 cycles. So not long but about 2 yrs with the two mcs.
With the second baby we started trying again jan 2023. Nothing happened so we asked for help again at the same fertility clinic. Ran tests and again all was good with me. However my husband had low sperm motility as he was put on progesterone shots by this other doctor due to low testosterone. Big mistake. This is why we couldn't get anywhere. So fertility clinic offered to do medicated IUI for us (for a cost) which we agreed to cause we felt hopeless at that time. Two rounds of medicated IUI processes and we are pregnant again. If this wouldn't have worked out we would be starting IVF early 2024.
So I am thankful there were options. Even when it felt that everything was going wrong.

12DPO today, period due tomorrow but no sign of it coming yet.
Beginning to get my hopes up, wish I could forget about it for a week!
Promised myself I wouldn't mention to husband about when I was due on etc but have mentioned it yesterday and today, eurgh!
At least the Traitors is back on the telly tonight.

jellyfish2210 · 03/01/2024 21:24

@SouthwestSis the wait and the building hope is the worst. Every month i am going through the rollercoaster of emotions. We are all with you and rooting for you x

NMB85 · 03/01/2024 23:41

Hi, I’m 11dpo, not expecting a BFP or anything tbh, but following as I’m 38 years old. Not been actively TTC but small chance this month.

Hayl777 · 04/01/2024 01:27

Hi, sorry for cross posting, was on TTC January but as I’m 37 I’m popping on here too!
According to OPKs today was ovulation day so now starting the TWW.
If we do fall then we are going to have a v.large age gap DD1 will be 18 in Feb and DS 15…. Thought we were done then had an unplanned pregnancy that ended in miscarriage in Nov 23 that planted the seed in more ways than one!
We decided that we very much want a DC3 and I have gone from “let’s just see what happens” to rattling with vitamin and supplements and a daily POAS habit 🙈

My good friend took 5years to conceive her DC2 and i now feel like the worst friend ever as I did not appreciate what TTC can do to your mind!

Fingers crossed for us all in 2024!

RoseH36 · 04/01/2024 08:38

@SouthwestSis keeping everything crossed for you. I'm so glad Traitors is back too, best thing I watched last time it was on.

@Hayl777 welcome! 5 years for your friend is such a long time bless her. Can't imagine how hard that must have been. 15 months has felt like a lifetime.

SouthwestSis · 04/01/2024 09:30

Welcome @NMB85 , I'm D12PO today too! Now sign of my period yet so may buy a test this afternoon if it still doesn't arrive, will wait until tomorrow morning to test tho.

Welcome @Hayl777 wishing you the best of luck, do your DD and DS have any idea that you're thinking of another?

Thankyou @jellyfish2210 and @RoseH36 for your kind words. Here's hoping.

NMB85 · 04/01/2024 09:33

Keep us updated, due on in a couple of days. Still hoping for a positive 🤞🏻 hope you get one x

Thank you for the reassurance. For some reason I'm quite nervous about all this but it's probably due to the fact that our first pregnancy went so wrong. And the fact that our living child was such hard work as a newborn that the baby stage scares me. Lol. DC is so amazing now though and I would love to do this mum thing all over again!

I think I'm 1dpo or 2dpo. I half assedly did the opks and got almost a positive one night, an almost positive again the next morning after which the lines started to get faint again, so I'm guessing I had my peak that night. I get really bad ovulation pains too and I had those a few days ago, but I have no idea whether they occur before, during or after ovulation. 🙈 Managed to DTD after the peak though so there's always a small chance.

Hayl777 · 04/01/2024 11:24

@SouthwestSis No, it’s not something we have discussed with them. Our eldest is applying for universities and very independent. Our 15yo’s friends mum remarried and had a baby last summer and our son jested then how great it would be …. The reality I’m sure may be very different 😅

Teela86 · 04/01/2024 12:18

Hi,
Can I join this thread, I've just turned 37 and have a 4.5 yo from a previous relationship. My partner is 52 and has no children but desperately wants one. He has a low sperm count from trt which he is now off and his count is slowly improving.
I've been using opks and tracking bbt and I'm currently 3dpo and already hating the tww.
DC1 was a happy accident and I was on minipill and hadn't had a period for 3 months!

hope you get your BFP again soon.

So glad I found this board, look forward to sharing your journeys.

SouthwestSis · 04/01/2024 15:52

So I cracked and tested this afternoon.
There is a faint line......
But this is one of the Boots "up to 5 days early" tests, and given that my period is due today, I'd have thought the line would be darker.

I never got a strong dark line with my chemical pregnancy last month so now just stuck feeling in limbo.
I've got one test left I could do tomorrow or Saturday if I manage to wait that long.

Khanga27 · 04/01/2024 15:55

@SouthwestSis I can see a line. If it’s not FMU then it could be a little diluted. I would try to hold off until either tomorrow morning or Saturday morning if you can. Fingers crossed

Daniki · 04/01/2024 15:59

@SouthwestSis with my pregnancies I never got a really dark line until after 5 weeks so please don't let that worry you. Wishing you all the best and it sticks 😁

NMB85 · 04/01/2024 16:20

@SouthwestSis definitely a line there! If you implanted later you may not have much hcg yet, so don’t lose hope. It’s fantastic it’s positive 😊 fingers are crossed it’s sticky.
I also caved and did a test this afternoon, another BFN 😔

JC084 · 04/01/2024 17:23

After my positive test on Xmas day, im
Now 5+4, but have just come home to some light bleeding. I also have some cramps.
I know some early bleeding can be common, but im So worried I know what way this is going. Heartbroken. An early miscarriage in august and a chemical last month. My husband is away with work and I'm home on my own until tomorrow night with our toddler. Feeling very alone
