@Wise0wl sending good vibes your way. As @Oxalis00 said not surprising you’re up and down, this is a massive thing to have happened. Hope you are being gentle with yourself and that your GP call goes well

HerbaceousPerennial · 19/12/2023 20:03

@GeorgeR28 @Vic231 I’d be interested to know too. I’d assume if you’re otherwise in decent health that a bad cold/flu shouldn’t make a difference if it’s relatively short term. I am going to tell myself that anyway as I feel I’m just moving from one bug to the next at the moment!

GeorgeR28 · 19/12/2023 20:07

@HerbaceousPerennial I’ve been reading online and a recurring thing that people seem to say is that sometimes being ill works in their favour as their immune system doesn’t fight the embryo implanting? & just in general a lot of people saying they’ve been really and and still got a positive! So if anything I’ve only read good things. I mean it is just forums and google so take it with a pinch of salt but I didn’t actually read anywhere saying that it would affect it. Only thing I read was keeping your fever down so for example if your temp was 39 that’s the only cause for concern! Hope you feel better soon!

Wise0wl · 20/12/2023 10:55

Thank you @Ladyinpink1, and I’ll definitely ask about progesterone (which I was prescribed for my most recent pregnancy due to spotting)

ThelastRolo20 · 20/12/2023 13:01

@GeorgeR28 I had a 24 hour flu type thing just before ovulating and a cold after and I conceived so there may be something in it. I imagine only serious illness/ prolonged fever would stop anything

GeorgeR28 · 20/12/2023 14:27

@ThelastRolo20 i thought I remembered you saying you hadn’t been very well! Big congratulations to you!
I’ve been feeling so so sick today and it’s only 5dpo but my toxic trait is thinking it’s down to pregnancy 😂 but I’ve got the worst sore throat and body aches so I know I’m being stupid

ThelastRolo20 · 20/12/2023 18:15

@GeorgeR28 haha we're all guilty of symptom spotting! It may not be because of pregnancy but a bit of cold can aid conception by distracting the immune system so fingers crossed.

I'm sat here with zero symptoms but trying not to get anxious about it as there's nothing I can do in any case. Just need to wait 5 more weeks until my early scan.

GeorgeR28 · 20/12/2023 18:42

@ThelastRolo20 honestly I’m so bad for it, I’m worried it just hinders my chances every month because it’s on my mind all the time! I really hope this cold has been worth it!
It must be so hard I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now, but just try to take one day at a time and tell yourself you are pregnant, and you are safe, your body is doing everything to keep you safe.
I know it sounds silly but everytime you start to worry try to tell yourself that. Easier said than done I know but our brains go to the worst case scenario everytime to try and protect us, which isn’t very helpful but sometimes even just recognising what our brain is doing helps! I

Oxalis00 · 20/12/2023 18:55

Wise words there from @GeorgeR28 - I’ll take it!

@SnookyPook is it your scan tomorrow? Thinking of you and hoping all goes well x

13lucy · 20/12/2023 20:01

@ThelastRolo20 if it helps, my friend recently carried to term with no issues and also had no symptoms whatsoever. I can imagine it must be hard not to overthink it all though!

I'm feeling grateful today as out of nowhere OPK was high yesterday and peaked today on CD23! Hopefully a temp rise tomorrow and then I'll be in the 2WW again. Feeling a lot more positive as I've been feeling so low.

I'm not sure whether DTD so frequently will hamper our chances this time round. Every other day since CD 10 and then yesterday, today and tomorrow! Will be a well earned rest that's for sure 😂

@Wise0wl hope you're doing ok and good to hear that you've got a good GP to talk to. I'm sure you'll be in good hands.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today.

ThelastRolo20 · 20/12/2023 20:05

@GeorgeR28 @13lucy thanks both - I'm weirdly calm about the whole thing thankfully. My first pregnancy with my daughter was very uneventful, as was the one I lost, so I know it means nothing...but I do catch myself wishing for a bit of nausea still 😂

Great news @13lucy about the OPK! Wishing you all the luck 🤞🏻

graceinc22 · 20/12/2023 22:02

@13lucy good luck!! I don’t think frequent dad harms chances at all - except if your partner has a low sperm count. My fertility friend app says that the more days you try during the fertile window, the better :)

HerbaceousPerennial · 21/12/2023 08:18

@GeorgeR28 that’s really interesting. Anecdotal I know but I wonder if there’s something in it. If there is that bodes well for us all anyway! Hope you feel better soon… but maybe keep a little bit of low level illness if it increases your chances 😂

@13lucy glad to hear you’re feeling more positive. Sounds like you’ve definitely put the work in this month.

@ThelastRolo20 good to hear you’re feeling relatively calm. The stats are on your side - I love a statistic and I find it helps keep me on an even keel.

I was pretty grumpy yesterday - spotting again and fed up. We’ll keep trying but I can’t see I’ll get anywhere until that settles down. Keep reminding myself I just need to be patient and my time will come (hopefully)

Ladyinpink1 · 21/12/2023 11:37

@Vic231 So will the consultant appointment give you the results of all of the tests next week? Well I am a serial early tester anyway, but yes I worry about getting the progesterone in time too as it's to be taken as early as possible. I think if it's coming up for a weekend, I would definitely early test to get the progesterone instead of waiting until the Monday. Maybe early testing is safer for that reason but then it's the emotional effects if it's a bfn are so tough 🤷‍♀️ Where are you in your cycle now? x

Is it smep you are doing? @13lucy and I think dtd lots is OK too, we always dtd lots, I would be too nervous of missing my window. Ysy for ovulation! You have done well to dtd so often with ovulation being a bit later too, I'm sure you are tired out, hopefully be worth it all soon? x

Sorry you are feeling fed up @HerbaceousPerennial it can all drag on and so many ups and downs, can't it, i'm hoping things change for you very soon x

13lucy · 21/12/2023 12:48

Thanks all. My BBT didn't increase as much as I was hoping today, but still an increase on the past few days. My chart is a bit all over the place this cycle compared to previous ones ad my follicular phase temps have fluctuated quite a bit and have been generally lower than usual. Not sure if it's an issue or not. Hoping for a bigger increase tomorrow and joining the 2WW. There's always something to worry about!

@Ladyinpink1 yes we followed SMEP and it goes on forever with a long cycle! I looked back to when I conceived and we DTD a lot in the fertile window so must have worked!

13lucy · 21/12/2023 12:55

@HerbaceousPerennial sorry that you're feeling down. It's easier said than done with being patient as it really feels like forever when you're in it. Hope things get better for you soon.

@ThelastRolo20 that's good! Glad you're doing ok. It was my first pregnancy so have nothing to compare it to. Having a successful pregnancy seems impossible to be because of the experience I had! Hoping we get another chance soon.

ThelastRolo20 · 21/12/2023 16:50

@HerbaceousPerennial waiting for our bodies to go back to normal is so difficult. I think when you're TTC you're constantly wishing for time to hurry up, it's really draining. @13lucy fingers crossed your temp continues to go up confirming ovulation, seems like it's going that way! Then into the dreaded TWW 😂

I hope everyone has nice Christmas plans to distract them. I was going to attempt to attend the local carols this evening but the weather is really putting me off 🙃

HerbaceousPerennial · 21/12/2023 18:05

Thanks @13lucy @Ladyinpink1. Helps to have a moan on here - much appreciated. DH and I had a good chat and I think I’m just going to focus on enjoying not being pregnant over Christmas. If I’m still spotting on and off in the new year I’ll give the PSU a call and see what they say. Probably just wait! But helps to have a plan I think.

I had to google SMEP! Putting it on the list to try for the new year.

HerbaceousPerennial · 21/12/2023 18:09

@ThelastRolo20 definitely! Wish I knew what on earth is going on in there… I intend to go to a Carol service every year but never make it 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve got my in laws here for Christmas which will be a good distraction. Hope you have nice plans too

SnookyPook · 21/12/2023 18:25

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok.

Pregnancy update below

I was so nervous before the scan I almost fainted... but, there is a little Baby in there with a strong heartbeat ❤️ I burst into tears when they told me!

Measuring a week behind what I thought (6+2 instead of 7+2) but they didn't seem worried. Also, I am pretty sure I ovulated later than usual (wasn't tracking) because we only dtd CD17 and 19 and usually my peak opk is CD13/14. So hopefully that's not too much of a worry. Really trying to enjoy this positive moment. Still a long way from feeling safe as my MMC stopped developing at 7+5... But one day at a time. Right now, in this moment it's all as good as can be. Not ectopic. Not nothing there.... and already made it further than two of my pregnancies this year... so, a bit of breathing space for Christmas 😊

Big hugs to all xx

Vic231 · 21/12/2023 18:27

@Ladyinpink1 I wrong next week 🤦🏻‍♀️ I meant next month! Well I followed up with the EPU on the results and they've all come back as in the normal range so we've decided to carry on trying in the meantime. I'm hoping that the appointment next month might mean that they will try me on some medication that won't hurt, to see if that helps! Prior to that though I have another consultant and a bereavement midwife that will be with me throughout (as they were both to do with our loss) who let me ask lots of questions - one being about the progesterone which they've said would be as soon as I've got a BFP. So my husband and I have said with the bank hols I will test between Christmas and new year as otherwise there would be no hope of getting a prescription and I'll worry! I'll be roughly 11DPO then, I'm around 5DPO now.

Where are you at the moment?

Vic231 · 21/12/2023 19:25

@SnookyPook oh this is such lovely news ♥️

HerbaceousPerennial · 21/12/2023 19:48

@SnookyPook that’s wonderful news! So pleased for you and will keep everything crossed

samilicious · 21/12/2023 19:49

@HerbaceousPerennial @ThelastRolo20 I'm always the same with a carol service! Always want to go but ends of being the same time as something else

@Wise0wl my optimism in the fewer dtd = likely conception hopes are dwindling this month 😬 but thank you!

Looks like I'm out this month. Was not trying and avoiding thinking about ttc but now I'm a few days before AF due and got obvious PMT symptoms 🙄 and it's made me feel really crappy. Tetchy, bloating, increased appetite.

I feel like we need to bring the spicy TTC talk for those due around Xmas time when it's ovulation time again to balance out the TWW rubbishness 🤪 🌶️

13lucy · 21/12/2023 20:26

@ThelastRolo20 exhausting isn't it! I can't remember what life without TTC or worrying about TTC/pregnancy/miscarriage was like. It's all consuming!

@SnookyPook that's great news and definitely a good idea to take it one day at a time. Wishing you all the luck!
