Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

@MrsB2019x that must have been really worrying for you. Hope you're doing ok. Have your spoken to midwife/epu about it?

Yeah I called EPU and they told me I might as well just wait until my scan on Thursday as they are full all week 🙃
I did consider a private scan tonight but it’s less than 48 hours away, not much will change between now and then and I won’t be £75 poorer 😅

How are you getting on @Bumblesbee84 ? Assume AF didn’t show today?

@MrsB2019x 48 hours is a long time to wait with intrusive thoughts though isn’t it. Are you having any pains? X

It is 🙁 luckily my working days are Tues/Weds/Thurs so hopefully my mind will be kept busy. I’m having mild cramps, nothing bad just a bit uncomfortable

@MrsB2019x nearly wednesday, then you’ll be saying the scan will be tomorrow! Fingers crossed you get some comforting news.

@SunshineAndRainbows6 welcome and sorry for your very difficult moments. You’ve had a rough time of it haven’t you? I had an ectopic and surgery over Christmas but can’t imagine what a ruptured/emergency one would have been like. But you sound resilient and positive. Well done for looking forward to hopefully brighter days ahead!

I agree about waiting for the nhs scan. I personally wouldn’t get another private scan after what was a pretty traumatic experience when I found out about my MMC. The sonographer just wasn’t clear and the signposting me on to the nhs service was terrible.

I’m on to the 9th month of TTC, thought I had a faint positive at 11dpo but AF arrived bang on time. First period since the surgical management in Jan and it feels like a normal period so far - hopefully won’t get much worse.

@CurlyWurly1991 so sorry to hear AF turned up after the faint positive, that's tough. Hope you're doing ok? I spoke to the fertility clinic about whether or not they'd do private scans as a stand alone thing and they said they don't, they signposted me to the place I went before that nhs wouldn't accept! I think DH is keen to get an early private one to get an idea of where we stand, I'm just not sure I want to put myself through it. But will see how i feel and how things progress.
@MrsB2019x hopefully the spotting is just one of those random spotting events that can happen in pregnancy. Sending you so many good wishes for your scan tomorrow. AF didn't turn up and I'm stopping testing now, just going to wait it out and see what happens.
@Nic2908 how far along are you now? Hope you're doing ok.

It's amazing how brave woman are getting back up and trying again after going through such trauma!

@Bumblesbee84 sounds like a good idea to play it by ear. It should be easy to book in a private scan if you need to at any point? Or the EPAU if you have any symptoms of concern.

yeah feeling a bit crap with heavy period. Feeling bit sad. Anyone seen kin on bbc ? Spoiler and trigger warning - MMC in ep1 of s2, quite realistic and similar to my experience 😬

How's everyone else doing this evening!? This first period after my surgery is a killer... heavier and more painful than normal but was expecting it 😫

@Stategigi I'm sorry for your loss 🙏🏼 Was the surgery to remove a tube or just the pregnancy? Yes mine was a bit crazy, went in for an early scan as I had a little spotting and some light cramps which disappeared as quick as they came, to be told I had internal bleeding in my abdomen and pelvis and needed to go to surgery because it had ruptured 😫 It all happened so fast 😞 The doctors couldn't believe how I wasn't in pain etc... but to be honest I've got arthritis and have quite a high pain threshold, so wrote it down to that! How are you doing now!? 🙏🏼

@SunshineAndRainbows6 urgh what a shock for you. I had internal bleeding too with my ectopic. I didn't have much pain either. They kept asking me about that and seemed surprised... The main thing was a mild burning sensation in my groin?

@YellowZ Us women are fighters ayyyee 💪🏼 Yes I can relate to that, leading up to the horrid day I kept saying to my hubby that I felt like I had a bit of a UTI, it felt similar to that, like my stomach felt sore inside 🤔 Plus I had a bit of shoulder pain on that side but thought it was due to my arthritis.... now I can put the puzzle pieces together and spot the signs/symptoms 😞

Just read that your 12 week scan is tomorrow 😍 how exciting! Sending loads of love your way, I know how bloody nervous you must be feeling 😮‍💨 How long did it take you to fall with this pregnancy after your ectopic? I'm trying to look back through comments but as I said I'm useless on this thing 🥴😂

@SunshineAndRainbows6 we had a break TTC of about a year, as we moved for DP's work, I got a new job too - so needed to be there long enough to qualify for maternity pay etc. But then conceived 2nd cycle off the pill. I'll be 39 in a couple of weeks so I think this is good going - having 1 tube didn't seem to have an impact.

Definitely feeling the nerves now. I haven't had much nausea etc so and that's playing on my mind. Logically, I know I've had a good scan at 6wk so it's likely the 12wk will be OK too, but there's that awful 'what if'. Less than 24hrs to go though! 😬

@Bumblesbee84 I’m super early at 7+4. First nhs scan is on Tuesday and I am on major count down but at the same time absolutely dreading it.

Still bleeding on and off throughout the day, I’m starting to lose hope tbh. Had a couple of tiny clots when I just went to the loo. Scan is at 3:40 so I’ll know either way this time tomorrow.

I am also on my first period post surgery (but for a 8 week MMC rather than ectopic). It’s quite a bit heavier and not super painful thankfully but more and different cramps to usual.

indeed we women are fighters - I am amazed by the stories I hear of what women go through and yet keep going (although stopping is fine too, of course). The resilience and strength to remain hopeful is inspiring.

@MrsB2019x sorry I meant to say I hope your scan goes well today too.

carried it correctly and read correct time frame but it’s thin

Also strangely my LH is more than last few days yet ovulation was while back. So not sure what means as I never really test this after I get the surge earlier on

@Panda101x hmm not sure. Can you try another brand? The LH test is encouraging.

@MrsB2019x hope today goes well, there are lots of things the bleeding could be x
