Hello,

Would anyone like to join a thread for TTC after ectopic/miscarriage, or when facing other challenges eg age, PCOS etc? DP and I have just decided to try again for no2, and I'm going to come off the pill. It would be nice to have some buddies to share experiences and support each other 🙂

About me:

Pregnancy 1: conceived first cycle age 35, healthy pregnancy, DS born summer 2021 (now age 2)

Pregnancy 2: conceived first cycle age 37, ectopic, surgery November 2022

My plan is to eat well, exercise, cut out alcohol, and generally look after myself.

Because I got pregnant quickly both times, I'm hoping our chances are still good...no idea how only having the one fallopian tube is going to affect things 😬

I think I'll do OPKs but not sure about temping yet.

Would love to hear from others!

@Ella31 I'm only 9dpo today. 8dpo when I tested yesterday. So still early. But I'm not really feeling like I am, other than the nausea last night.

With your tests I'd trust the easy@home. I've never had a peak test with Femometer, they don't seem to be as sensitive as easy@home.

9dpo is so early, so don't lose hope. Hard though I know.

Do you think that was peak today?

Confusedddddddd · 26/01/2024 15:04

@Ella31 yeh I'd say today is your peak, the test line might get darker but equal or darker than the control line is a peak.

Just wanted to add @Confusedddddddd I've been pregnant 3 times all losses of differing levels of trauma unfortunately, but when I tested positive on all 3, they were all different dpo days so keep holding on. I also had different symptoms so I know it's cliche but until af is here, anything can happen.

YellowZ · 26/01/2024 20:16

@Ella31 it's amazing how different the femometer and easy@home readings are. Have you done another test this evening?

Still keeping my fingers crossed for you @Confusedddddddd

Very tired today, but my booking in appointment went well. Very nice midwife. Because of the ectopic and having had a post partum haemorrhage with my son, it's actually a high-risk pregnancy this time (but from the sounds of it that just means 1 appointment with a consultant).

@YellowZ high risk care sounds good. It means they will take extra caution with you and probably scan you more. No harm in that.

@Confusedddddddd I’m doing ok, I have peed on many sticks each day for reassurance. I’m tired and my boobs hurt but I would rather the symptoms. How are you??

@Ella31 i have it came through yesterday. 27th Feb in EPU. I’m not sure how I feel about that date it’s the date It all went wrong last year, no scope to move it so I’ve just got to get over it. How are you?? I’m just trying to catch up with you all.

@Nic2908 keep telling yourself this is a new journey, new pregnancy, new baby. You will always have a special place in your heart for the one you lost.

I'm doing good. Ovulated either today or yesterday. I'm thinking it's a good sign that my cycle has returned regularly- I ovulsted the same day last month too. Considering I gave birth 3 months ago, everything seems back to normal.

Gracie1825 · 27/01/2024 20:45

@YellowZ glad your booking appointment went well
@Ella31 hope this is your cycle that you get your BFP.
@Confusedddddddd definitely not over yet. Same to you.

I was so upset when I got AF knew it wasn't happening at that stage but think it was still grief and hormones all over the shop
I had my birthday too which i just didn't wanna be another year older
42 now 😢
But trying to stay positive and have started opk again now cd 7 🤞🤞

Confusedddddddd · 27/01/2024 22:34

10 dpo today still negative. Starting to feel crampy and AF should arrive tomorrow/day after, so I think this still isn't our month.

I think I might start trying coq10 next month. I'm a bit stressed about being 38 and getting pregnant isn't happening quickly this time around. Hoping at least taking that might slow down the ageing of my ovaries. Might also try pre-seed, i dont get much EWCM and the month we conceived DD I had looooads, figure it can't hurt.
That and trying to find time for more exercise, and doing more to help me relax, I'm tempted to try acupuncture.
Has anyone done Hertility? I keep thinking I should do Hertility to get an idea of what my fertility looks like, but I don't think it'll make a difference to me, a lot of what's tested I get regularly anyway as I have a pituitary tumour that affects prolactin (and my T3 for some reason) so I know that's ok. The only thing they don't test is progesterone so I might ask my gp/consultant.
I don't really want to test amh at this stage as it won't make a difference to what we do whether it's low or high, we'll keep trying for a year. Also I read that a cystectomy will generally reduce amh for about 6 months and it's only been 7 months.

Confusedddddddd · 27/01/2024 22:41

@YellowZ does previous ectopic count toward high risk?

I was high risk for DD for a bunch of ridiculous reasons that had no impact whatsoever - even the midwife commented how textbook my pregnancy was. But I really like having frequent scans - I had them every 3 weeks and found it really reassuring, I really looked forward to them.
However I was pushed for an induction for all those stupid reasons which I wish I pushed back on (though it made taking care of the dog much easier - we don't have family nearby). I got so fed up of arguing that I let them induce me even though I was already having contractions. Labour as a result was very sudden and quick and I got no pain relief.
I was hoping next pregnancy that I wouldn't be high risk - though I might pay for extra scans.

I'm sorry. Stay positive though. It will happen. And stay on the group. We'll support you through it. I'm ok. I'm 3dpo but not holding out much hope. Doesn't feel like my month tbh

Hi All,
haven’t popped a post in for a while, I’ve just been a lurker.
I finally have my positive test after an ectopic and tube removal in May 2023.
although it’s tinged with fear as I’m so scared of another ectopic.
did anyone else have a dull ache in their hip/lower back with their subsequent pregnancy after an ectopic?
im only 14dpo but my tests are progressing really well (didn’t get that last time) and I haven’t had any sharp pain or spotting. Just looking for some reassurance I guess!
TIA 😊

YellowZ · 01/02/2024 17:45

Hey @Joonbug23 congratulations! Good progression is a great sign. I haven't had any pains with this pregnancy, but did have mild persistent pain on my left side with DS.

I'm 9wks now and have a 12wk scan booked for 3 weeks from now 🤞 not really had much in the way of nausea. Worrying about that...but hey nothing I can change either way.

Sorry to read AF came @Confusedddddddd and good luck @Ella31

Hi @Joonbug23 , crossing fingers for you and this positive news! Tests improving sounds wonderful.

Before your ectopic had you been pregnant before or tried for a length of time?
Also how many cycles did you wait to TTC after having your tube removed?
I had surgery over Christmas and have had one cycle and feel urgency to TTC due to my age (nearly 38 / no children) but can’t decide if I should heal for one more cycle internally. Also if pregnancy affects the fresh skin healing scars.

Sending lots of hugs to everyone else on their journeyed.

MrsB2019x · 01/02/2024 19:43

Congratulations @Joonbug23 !

Similar to Yellow I’m 9+1 and I haven’t had any pain at all with this pregnancy, but I did have niggles on my left side with DD (the same side I had the ectopic), enough to warrant getting a scan at 5+2 but all was fine. They said it might be the scar tissue becoming a bit irritated with everything growing and stretching

Nic2908 · 01/02/2024 19:56

@Joonbug23 congratulations!! I am almost 5 weeks pregnancy, I lost a baby at 16 weeks last year and I must say that I have had lots more niggles and aches this pregnancy then I have my other two. My boobs hurt and I intermittently feel nauseous but not been sick. Although I’m second guessing everyone. I have an early scan in epu on 27th and it cannot come soon enough.

Joonbug23 · 02/02/2024 11:24

Thanks everyone. I went to A&E last night with intensifying pains on my left side. Really feels exactly how my ectopic was last time. My hcg was 335 at 4w0d. I have repeat bloods on Sunday. No spotting (yet).
I really don’t think I can go through another ectopic. I don’t think physically or mentally I have the strength to.

@Stategigi i had MTX before my surgery so waited the 3 months before TTC. It took 6 cycles to fall pregnant (I’m 26). If personally give it at least 2 proper periods before trying again after surgery so you’re absolutely sure on dates and things as it’s really worrying getting pregnant again and not being sure.❤️

YellowZ · 02/02/2024 13:14

@Joonbug23 is your HCG is in the normal range for 4+3? Fingers crossed for your next test. How's the pain now? Don't panic, it's more likely to be ok than not.

OP posts:
MrsB2019x · 02/02/2024 14:09

@Joonbug23 Your HCG looks promising, mine was 163 at around 4+4 with my ectopic. Got everything crossed for double on Sunday 🤞

Joonbug23 · 02/02/2024 14:11

@YellowZ
Yes HCG is looking good for my gestation apparently. Although they need to see a repeat blood draw to be able to get a clearer picture. Last ectopic I had really low hcg and faint tests for ages! This time im getting strong tests that are progressing daily. But the pain is also getting worse daily I don’t think it can possible be scar tissue or a cyst or anything like that. Trying to be positive but I feel like when it’s ectopic, if you know you know!😣
