Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

I have also said we want another baby but not sure if will happen.. I said if we are lucky enough we will.

whats cycle day is everyone on?
Im on cd18 and 5 dpo
this Ttw is driving me mad!
i do feel a little nauseous today, but I think it’s in my head.

also when will if you get pregnant tell people? I told close friends and family as soon as we feel pregnant.. I don’t think I’ll tell the kids until our scan though.

MacNut · 15/08/2023 10:56

I'm 14 DPO, period due tomorrow 😬 Haven't tested again since Saturday.

My general rule is if I would tell the person if something goes wrong pre 12w then I'll tell them any time. That means most people won't find out until at least after the 12w scan but my sister & close friends (probably my mum too) will know sooner. I think I'll try to wait until after the 12w scan to tell my older kids but they also might guess! My 9yo DD doesn't miss a trick!

HappyValleyFan1 · 15/08/2023 11:06

I'm CD24 and 2 or 3 dpo. Feeling ridiculously tired, sick and dizzy but have had 2 hours sleep after getting home from the airport at 4:30am. DD has been saying a while she'd like another baby brother so I think if we're lucky to conceive it will be well received 😬

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I often get a bit of ewcm post ov for some reason 🤷‍♀️

I'd wait like last time until about 15 weeks. I'd probably tell my best friend sooner Even with my MC history it's still something I just prefer to keep to myself for as long as possible, that might be the anxiety though

@MacNut will you wait out a few days or retest?

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 15/08/2023 11:24

I actually think if we do have another we might wait ages to tell people this time. I think it would come as a huge surprise to friends and family as most will think we are done at 2.

We have one of each sex and DH has been vocal in the past about not wanting more. Our family live far away so we’d have a good chance of being able to keep it to ourselves for a while.

MacNut · 15/08/2023 11:48

@HappyValleyFan1 if no AF in the morning then I will probably test again 😬 i did that last cycle though and then AF showed up an hour later so was a waste of a test 🙄 I've totally resigned myself to being out this month so just want to get into the next cycle!

MacNut · 15/08/2023 11:56

As if she heard me, I've now got some spotting so AF is in her way 😩

Onto the next cycle then... Giving SMEPing and BBTing a go this time 🙏

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 15/08/2023 13:02

Sorry to hear that @MacNut - you can join me on the next cycle (AF arrived on Saturday so I’m CD4 today).

HopefullMumto4 · 15/08/2023 13:09

Ah @MacNut that's rubbish, I'm sorry! Fingers crossed for a September BFP! I actually enjoy doing BBT, it gives me something to focus on after a positive OPK.

I am torturing myself with the fact my cervix feels kinda lowish and I'm not even due for another week, bet she comes early 😭

KittieKath · 15/08/2023 13:41

Thank you to @AnaReis and @IfIfyouknowyouknowyouknow for your thoughtful and kind replies.

Very sage advice from you both, and I have really taken this on board.

I think you are right, I should wait a while longer. It wouldn't be fair to my youngest for a start!

Let's see how I feel in a year's time.

Wishing you all the best for big happy families Xx

Rightnow1245 · 15/08/2023 13:41

I’m so sorry @MacNut its so hard this trying ttc journey.. no one tells you about how stressful it is until you do it! Thats also the rule I go by I feel like I would need the support but also understand why people keep it to them self.
my mum is like a witch anyways l could never keep it from her she’s guessed before I’ve even known both time x

I might tell close family and friends. I didn't say anything with my 1st but I did with my 2nd. I'd rather tell them and then count on their support if something happens than not telling and then having to act normal 🤔
The same with the kiddos. Depending on their age I think its beneficial for them to know that sometimes there are problems during the pregnancy, sort of to normalise things I guess.
I just feel like as a society we keep miscarriages a secret and then this makes people who go through them a bit more lonely. Not that not telling about the pregnancy is bad, at all! Each to their own ❤️ but this is my view.

Currently I'm on CD19 and more or less 5DPO 🤔 I sometimes feel tired or a tiny bit of nausea and I think "what if??" but if I stop being obsessed about it and remember how it was with my 2 pregnancies, my only symptom was being extremely sleepy and tired and it began 2 or 3 days before finding out at the end of the TWW. The horrible nausea usually starts by week 6 🤢

Hello. Can I join please. Hoping to have a 3rd. I have a 3yo and a 21mo. I came off progesterone only pill last month and just got AF last week. Which was 37 days later. I used to be regular with 28 day cycles but that was over 4 years ago. At what day should I start to test for ovulation in everyone's opinion. Currently on cycle day 6.

Hi @Sailaway99! I would get some cheap tests and start testing any day now just in case it goes back to a 28 day cycle again :)

Hi and welcome!! 😊I'm useless with OPK but I think @HopefullMumto4's suggestion is really good. Just like HGC tests you can save a lot of money by buying the cheap ones.

Just like when I got broody before getting pregnant with my 2 kiddos I'm starting to seeing pregnant women everywhere and getting that feeling of "oooh I miss being pregnant!".... just let the 1st trimester come, if I ever get a BFP, and I'll be sure to review this statement! 😅

I'm defo out now, AF in full swing 😩 Have ordered a BBT thermometer so I'll turn my attention to that once it arrives. DP is looking forward to SMEP 😂

Welcome @Sailaway99!

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 15/08/2023 20:46

Sorry @MacNut but glad you’re already feeling positive about the next cycle! Good luck with the BBT - I’ve never really managed to get into that as not organised enough - but might do next cycle as well!

welcome @Sailaway99! I used digital opks this cycle (cycle 1 for me) as it’s been so long since I tracked ovulation (my dc 2 is 2.5) I just wanted to make it easier for myself. They are much more expensive than the cheapies but do give you a categorical peak result which I wanted. I think it suggested testing from cd 9 for a 28 day cycle so if you start no later than that you should catch your peak, unless you think you usually ovulate early?

Welcome @Sailaway99!

Ah nice that your OH is investigating too! 😊
I have a very old thermometer that I used when I started the Fertility Awareness Method from the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weshler years before even having kids. I was surprised that it still worked! 😧 I have it next to my bed so I just use it as soon as Mr 3yo wakes up ready for the day 😅 he's always asking "what are you doing mummy?" 🤣

So finally my app has managed to pinpoint my ovulation date. It says I'm on 5DPO.

Let's see what happens this month.

Welcome @Sailaway99 also think it’s a good idea to just start opk asap because then you’ll know when you ovulate.
I came off the pill back in 2017 and feel pregnant that month without ever having a bleed so worth starting soon.

@AnaReis I am glad your app is now pinpointing your ovulation.

how is everyone feeling?
Im cd20 and 6dpo and in such a bad mood

not feeling hopeful for this month tbh

Mummyme87 · 16/08/2023 12:19

Good luck ladies! I’m 18+4 with #3. I have a 9 and 5yr olds. Took 19months unfortunately which took me by surprise after no issues previously but it happened eventually!

we are definitely mad going for 3!!

HopefullMumto4 · 16/08/2023 12:29

Someone asked me recently when we were biking up and down our street (we live in a quiet village) "they aren't all yours are they..." I was only out with 4 kids!

I mean they weren't, one belonged so someone else but still! Hopefully in a few years I will have 4 kids biking up and down the street 🙄

HappyValleyFan1 · 16/08/2023 12:34

Argggh sorry @MacNut it's as if your body knows when you plan on testing 🫂

@AnaReis good to know. I got a bit obsessed with FF and charting so trying to avoid BBT for now although my watch claims to be able to track ovulation so it will be interesting when that notifies me if it's in sync with my ovulation tests as first month doing OPKs this time I've never sense checked jt

Welcome @Sailaway99 I think starting OPKs depends on your normal cycle length but if you're not sure CD9 or 10 is a good place to start

@Rightnow1245 CD25 here and 3DPO as have a short luteal phase. Feeling ok but like there's a really long wait ahead. Trying to distract myself with work and eating well which is easier said than done isn't it!

Yeah it's so unpredictable isn't it? I also conceived pretty quickly the first 2 times, but we never know what will happen 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hope we don't take long as I'm going to be 41 but hey ho... 🤷🏻‍♀️ And yes, definitely mad! I go through days when I think it's the best idea and others when I think it's the worst 😅

Hello everyone and thank you so much for the warm welcome. I feel like you guys are as nuts as me trying for #3. Haha. So I tested this morning as had some leftover boots ovulation tests and there was a line, fainter than the test line but a line nonetheless. So does this indicate I am in the run up to ovulation?
As to pp I got pregnant with my second without ever having a withdrawal bleed or AF the same as you said. I wasn't as lucky this time, hence I'm here. So my old fitbit info said I'm on a 29 day cycle which is interesting but obviously no data to calculate for nearly 3 years as I was EBF my 21 month old up till 16 months then on progesterone only pill. I'm wishing everyone luck for this cycle or next
