Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

@AnaReis I think the NHS offers the genetic IVF to couples trying for their first child but obviously we have two healthy children so we would have to go private, which is understandable. Thank you. It is difficult wondering if we're doing the right thing, but we have our hearts set on three. It's a gamble but it's always going to be 50/50 it's a girl or boy and then if it's a boy it's 50/50 it's got the disease so 25% chance overall it will have the disease? Idk my maths is terrible 😂

I have a friend who has 4 girls, 2 of them are twins ☺️ you never know, you might have another girl!

@AnaReis this is only cycle 2 for me so I don’t really have any right to complain 🤣.

But 5 of my previous pregnancies were conceived first cycle, including 2 accidental ones. DC2 (my last pregnancy) was on cycle 3 when I was 33. Now I’m 36 I guess could take even longer than that?

Ha ha yeah @HappyValleyFan1 i know what you mean! I think quite a few on the thread had been ttc before the thread started, but I joined just as cycle 1 began!

We had a chat over the weekend and have decided we are going to try this cycle after all. We had said we were going to skip the next couple of cycles to avoid July/aug birthdays if we conceived, but thanks to AF rocking up early, I think if we conceived this time the edd would be 29 June so just about squeaking in there 🤣

Going to throw everything at it with proper diet, exercise, supplements, opks…the full shebang, and see what happens. I slightly feel like if it doesn’t happen this month we might stop trying but I’m sure I said that last month as well!

Will keep everything crossed for you that this is the BFP cycle 🙏 @Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow

I'm feeling really anxious so have brought my early scan forward to this Saturday when I should be exactly 7w. Hoping it gives me some reassurance ❤️

I'm on CD10, waiting for ovulation to happen.

I've been drinking alcohol here and there and trying to eat healthy, but it's really hard... I'm in an all inclusive and desserts are displayed at every meal in the buffet 😅🤦🏻‍♀️there are days when I'm able to behave, but other days when not really 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️ yesterday's I ate so much sugar and a carb feast... I can feel it all travelling to my fat deposits 😅

Not sure how much this week affect my fertility but I'm going to enjoy my hols and not think too much about it...

@AnaReis sounds amazing! Does the healthy eating/not drinking as much alcohol actually make much of a difference? Definitely enjoy your holiday in my opinion!
I'm CD19 but have either not ovulated or missed my peak. Not had many symptoms either. I'm still bf but I had a peak last month and my first period pp! So I'm not sure, just going to see if my period arrives when predicted or not and go from there

I'm doing ok, thanks girls! Bleeding is tapering off. Because it was pre 5 weeks it's classed as a chemical (wasn't sure what to refer to it as). So just trying to stay positive. CD5 currently.

Like you @Suchardchoccy I was also still bf and last cycle was my first PP!

@Scotmum256 Definitely a hard situation for you, and your sister. But I think it's really unfair for her to say to you "don't get pregnant before me".
Try and do phone call or face to face when you feel comfortable telling her.
When we were TTC DC2 we were 16 months in and I'd had 2 miscarriages. My best friend fell on the first try. I was still over the moon for her. It's so difficult but she should not be projecting her shortcomings onto you. I completely sympathise with her, as I've been there but you can still be happy for other people whilst juggling your own 💩

CD4 over here. Time seems to be going backwards!

@WhatTheEll ah snap then! How many months were you/have you been breastfeeding? I'm sorry if you've already said that in a previous post! I have never been through a chemical (that I know of) but I can imagine it's very demotivating. What will be will be ❤️

I did 12 months with both DC1 and DC2 🥳 They're both not particularly clingy and picked food over boob!

think I’m CD4/5 too. Was very resigned to going with the flow but had a chat with my friend yesterday who is also thinking of trying for a 3rd and that has made me obsessed again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ah we're pretty much at the same point! I'm weighing up whether to have a break for a couple of cycles but I know how I get when I start OPK's 🤪
How long have you been TTC #3?

So it turns out I wasn’t pregnant last month….slightly gutted (because even though the timing wasn’t right) I wanted to be.

As I suspect, DH wants to wait. He says he wants one, but not right now. I’m happy with that answer as I think he is probably right. We have a lot going on at the moment.
However, i’m worried that times ticking…. I’m not worried so much about me. I’m 35 and happy to wait a few years but he’s nearly 44….

this will be cycle 8, was convinced I was pregnant last cycle because AF was about 5 days late but it was just my body playing tricks on me. I haven’t been tracking ovulation with anything because I know I would become proper obsessive and DH and I promised we would just not prevent, DTD as much as poss during fertile windows and see what happens.

I think I need a chat with him though and say that if we’re doing this then we need to be more ‘professional’ for want of a better word 😂 maybe dedicate a year to proper trying and then if nothing accept it won’t happen for us 🤷🏻‍♀️

@AFeastForCrows Yes I think you need to weigh up how long you're happy to prevent it for. I agree, and think ovulation testing can get a bit out of hand (for me definitely 🤪), but I like to know I'm definitely ovulating besides the obvious EWCM etc.

It's definitely a control thing for me. Maybe if we were TTC #1 I'd be more relaxed, but #3 and we mean business 🤣

I'm sorry 😔 well sometimes we think too much about timing, there's never a right time 🤷🏻‍♀️ (except when I got pregnant with my 1st, I could have waited 1 more month to get maternity pay instead of maternity allowance 😅).

If I don't get pregnant on this cycle I'm definitely going all in with IC OPK and all that jazz! I'm already doing BBT so it's just for the fun of watching the second line go dark, while I don't get a line on HCG ones 😅

I'm finally in my fertile window! Wohoo! Full on sex drive, EWCM! Like Marvin Gaye says "let's get it on"! 😅 The hols are definitely helping with relaxing and DTD 😁 if I don't have a BFP at the end of this cycle at least I had fun 😅

@WhatTheEll thanks for your insight! yeah its a really hard one. im thinking i'll tell her after i've had a scan and everything looks ok. i think she starts her treatment next month so ideally she will know before then. I can only imagine how it it will feel for her so i am more than aware and not expecting her to join in on any part of the pregnancy, i'll still enjoy it as it will most likely be my last. hope you are doing ok xx

DH and I had a chat last night and I told him that I think I only want to keep trying for another 6 months or so. That would take me up to potentially giving birth just before I’m 40 - I don’t think I want to keep trying after that. He was totally on board with that as he’ll be nearly 44 by that point.

So, we’re going to ramp up the trying and get serious about it.

Can anyone advise me on what I do to track ovulation please?? I am totally clueless, don’t know what to buy, where from or when to do anything 😂

@AFeastForCrows I used easy@home OPKs (you can bulk buy from Amazon) to find my peak. I started testing on day 9 (I have a 28 day cycle). As it started to show higher levels of LH, I tested multiple times a day and found my peak on CD12.

I also did SMEP to ensure we covered all the key days. I found the OPKs really good as I had a clear peak.

I was also doing BBT but that really just gave me reassurance that I did ovulate the day after the peak OPK.
