Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

The reason I ask how many DPO you are because I’m 8dpo and haven’t tested yet, was going to hold out until Sunday which makes be 12dpo but it’s my sons party so not sure I want to over shadow that so might wait until Monday at 13dpo 🤷🏼‍♀️

@SchofeTee well last month I DtD every other day after AF showed but never managed to DtD on ovulation day as husband was away but DtD when I got a positive on opk… didn’t happened that cycle… When I feel pregnant with both my boys we just DtD whenever before getting a peak on opk and DtD on peak day and two days after.. I’ll let you know if it worked hahahaha 😉

I've been resting since 7/8DPO 🤣 I'm a nightmare.

Honestly for 11DPO I feel like shite. Never had the tiredness and cramping so early on with my other two. Waves of nausea too. Even before I got my positive this week I was feeling lots of cramping and twinges. It's crazy this time!

I mean I did get a BFP at 9/10 dpo with both boys but I think Monday will be good because then if we are pregnant then it will be a strong line 😅

oh no poor you, do you had a feeling you might be? I had a few cramps yesterday which could fit with implantation and my boobs are sore but this is common for the ttw… not sure why I just don’t think it’s going to be easy journey this time around 🥹

I'd say from yesterday I was more hopeful and then today it's hit me like a tonne of bricks! I thought I was out too and thought it would take ages like last time so this is a complete shock.

I had two great pregnancies! Love being pregnant. I'm a twin and I'm 37 so now I've convinced myself that feeling this rough this early could mean something..... 🤣🤣

I’m pretty sure that an egg can only be fertilised within 24 hours of ovulation, so 2 days after (and possibly 1 day after depending on time) would be too late?

But whatever you did obviouslh worked @WhatTheEll - huge congratulations to you!

My siblings are fraternal twins and there are several sets in my mum’s family, plus she was 35 when she had them. Tbh I totally expected my dc2 to be twins, purely because that’s what happened to my mum - I was surprised when she was a singleton! I’d love to have twins but would also be an insane handful!

Oh I wanted twins.... Before I had kids!!! 😅after the 1st I was like, 1 baby at a time pleeeaase!!! Of course I'd be super happy (and terrified) if I got pregnant with twins.

I'm on CD22, time passing sloooowly... Coming to terms with having AF on my hols!... 😫

@AnaReis I think I would poop my pants if I had twins 🤣 also it's just quite a risky pregnancy. Having two first off would be a shock but manageable but going from 2 to 4..... well we'd probably have to move house 🙃

The SMEP plan includes DTD day of peak OPK and the 2 days after. I think it's just to cover all bases especially as EXACTLY when you ovulate is hard to pinpoint

I am 8dpo and have mild cramps this afternoon and evening I never get cramps around this time so hope I get a BFP soon x

I think it's more likely with twins if it skips a generation..so my children are more likely to have twins. I could be wrong though!

On the twin thing, identical twins are totally random.

Non-identical twins happen when you release two eggs in one cycle. This happens more often as you get older, and you can also inherit the propensity to release 2 (or more eggs!). If you have the hyperovulation gene you can in theory pass it to kids of both sexes, but obviously it will only become apparent that you’ve passed it to your son if he goes on to have a daughter who hyperovulates, which is why It can seem to skip generations.

l’ve done a fair bit of research on this as was interested to know my own chances!

my period is now about 2-3 days late but I have all the symptoms of AF being on her way so I haven’t tested 🙊 this happened to me a few cycles ago where my period was 6 days late in the end, I was testing every day and DH got himself all excited to then have that crushing disappointment when AF did come. I’d rather live in the ‘maybe’ for a few days than know it’s a definite no again if that makes sense? 🥺 I don’t have any tests at home and we’re super busy with work and DC but I might try to get one over the weekend if she still hasn’t appeared

I think twins would just about finish me off 😂

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow that is so interesting!! Thanks for sharing. Funnily enough, me and my twin were told from day one by our parents that we were non-identical. Anyway fast forward to about 4 years ago and we decided to get a DNA test because everyone used to say we were identical growing up. The test said we were identical!! So my mum was told wrong. Although the tech 37 years ago wasn't anywhere near what it is now!

@MacNut I've worked out in about 3.5 weeks based on ovulation, which makes more sense actually seeing I ovulated so late. So EDD is 26th May ♥️🥳

We're still very close though!!

I think I’m about 2dpo but not exactly sure. Went out for work drinks last night and had a G&T or 2 too many so hope that hasn’t affected anything!

Also we were mirror images when we were younger but now we don't at all and it's all to do with environment, diet, lifestyle etc that makes identical adult twins look non-identical. I do find it fascinating. My sister has no kids, is single and works a very high profile job so complete opposite to me! Haha
