Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

@Scotmum256 if you have any questions about opks, please ask away. I'm sure a few of us here have been using them for a while!!!
Really hope this is your month!!! X

Scotmum256 · 29/08/2023 10:56

Thank you so much @Maybebaby54321 I am actually totally confused by them. I got the easy@home tests . My cycles can be allover the place . Last 6 months I've had 4 periods at 28 days like a Swiss watch then 2 42 day cycles . I'm thinking if it takes me ages at least I will (maybe) have more of an understanding of my cycle! I've attached a pic of my chart and tests not sure if yoi can advise ? I didn't think it would be progressing up this early into cycle. Any advice is so appreciated !

Hey all, hope everyone is ok. Not getting pregnant at the 6 month mark last cycle really hit me so I took a bit of a break from obsessing over it. I think I’m now 4/5 DPO and we DTD every day over my fertile period so keeping everything crossed as we move into cycle 7 💪🏻

Maybebaby54321 · 29/08/2023 11:44

@Scotmum256 the best thing would be to have a couple of months of data. That way if you always ovulate this early on in your cycle, you can show your gp. It definitely looks like early ovulation but it's hard to know until you've been testing a few months, if it's a one off or not...

Maybebaby54321 · 29/08/2023 11:45

@AFeastForCrows I am so so sorry. Its incredibly difficult and I have everything crossed for a bfp for you this month. Hoe are yoy feeling now???

MacNut · 29/08/2023 11:49

@Scotmum256 your OPKs are still reading quite low so I'd keep testing and see when your peak comes. I've attached a pic of mine so you can see I was getting similar readings to yours a few days before I got a peak on CD 12.

As I was doing BBT as well, I know the peak on my OPKs is broadly in line with what my temps did. Total aside but I don't know if it's just me but I find the premom charts so difficult to read 😵‍💫

@AFeastForCrows fingers crossed for you this month 🤞 We also DTD every day in the fertile window 😅

AFeastForCrows · 29/08/2023 12:33

Thank you. I’m feeling better and more ‘what will be will be’

I think because my DS1 was a surprise and DS2 literally took one time to conceive I convinced myself it would be an easy run but I’m 6 years older now and with a new partner. I chatted to DH about testing for him but he’s happy to just see what happens and if we don’t have a DC of our own he still has 2 wonderful DSS

Scotmum256 · 29/08/2023 12:59

@AFeastForCrows I'm in same position as you. Dd1 surprise dd2 1 weeks after trying conceived. Youngest is nearly 7 and new partner so is all unknown mixed with a dodgy cycle! It's such a hard one when it's out of our control and the unknown . I'm sure it will happen for yous xx

N8B · 29/08/2023 13:00

Everything crossed for you! I am also 6 years older now ☺️ I found out around this time 6 years ago that I was pregnant with DC1, brings back memories and also adds unwanted anxiety…

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 29/08/2023 19:47

@MacNut sorry really basic question but are you using an app or something to evaluate your OPKs (what is that a pic of)? I used CB digital last month to try make it easier for myself. Tbh I think it worked as I did get a static smiley (=peak) but wondering if the cheapies are more accurate, or at least allow you to test more often!

Yeah it's the premom app 😊 I am using easy@home OPKs and you take a pic and the app gives you a reading. This is the first cycle I've done this. I was also using CB digi but it died on me this cycle so I was glad I had the ICs as a backup. And also liked being able to test multiple times a day and see the line darken (because I'm a weirdo) 😅

I'm ridiculous and have 3 apps on the go at the moment (premom, fertility friend & clue) 😅

AnaReis · 29/08/2023 19:55

Good luck to everyone on their TWW or near it! I'm definitely going to buy OPK IC just for the fun of it!

I'm almost sure DH won't be in the UK when I get to my fertile window, so I think this cycle won't stand a chance..... And I was enjoying all the DTD!.......

@AnaReis I'm so sorry it looks like he won't be there for your fertile window! Look at it as a month to look after yourself and be even more ready for your bfp next cycle!!!!
Xx

N8B · 30/08/2023 11:35

AF starting to show appearance this morning . Disheartened and getting my act together to get ready for the next cycle. 😓

satellitesunshine · 30/08/2023 12:27

could i join please? trying for our third - i have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old so i’m clearly insane. i got a faint positive yesterday (9dpo) but it looks the same today so i have a bad gut feeling about it tbh

Tessa83 · 30/08/2023 13:09

Thought I would join the thread….

I have two DDs (age 6 and 4). My partner and I (not their dad) have always talked about having a baby together but he was always a no, but recently he says he’s more for it, probs more than me. 🤣 We are not really in the right place right now, but if it happened I would be excited.

We don’t usually use protection. I just really track my cycle and tell him when’s not a good time. We have been doing this for the last few years and so far haven't had a slip up! However….we had sex the other day on day 9, but I think I ovulated day 14….secretly hoping that I could be pregnant, but I know realistically that there’s probably not a chance…. 😔 I don’t actually don’t know when I ovulated but I think it’s then as started having the signs of mucus day 13 and tummy pain day 14.

I hope it’s okay I join? Good luck everyone. xx

Maybebaby54321 · 30/08/2023 13:19

@N8B I'm so so sorry. I have everything crossed that next month is your month xx

Maybebaby54321 · 30/08/2023 13:20

@satellitesunshine welcome!!!! I don't think you're mad, I would have loved small age gaps, it just wasn't meant to be for us!!
I really hope your lines progress!!!

Maybebaby54321 · 30/08/2023 13:22

Welcome @Tessa83 I hope you get your bfp!!!! Sperm can live for 5 days so you're in with a chance!!

Tessa83 · 30/08/2023 13:31

Thanks. We weren’t initially trying as we wanted to wait for a bit longer as we have so much other stressful things going on, but this has made me realise how much I really want one…so really hoping I am. If i’m not, Im pretty sure he’ll want to wait again…..

On day 17 now… I’ll probs go back to symptom spotting soon.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 30/08/2023 15:51

Not a great day here. Went for a scan and
was told I have a polyp that’s likely preventing implantation. So now have to decide whether to wait until the NHS can remove it, which will probably be at least a year, or pay privately (which we can’t afford). The problem with the NHS wait is that by the time it’s done, even if we conceived straight away (unlikely) we’d have a pretty big gap between children, and we’d be quite a bit older, and that’s not something either of us is keen on.

Maybebaby54321 · 30/08/2023 17:46

Oh my gosh @Clettercletterthatsbetter I am so sorry to hear this. Completely caught between a rock and a hard place. Is there any chance of natural implantation??

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 30/08/2023 17:49

@Maybebaby54321 I guess it not impossible? The consultant just said it was probably why we weren’t getting pregnant. A quick google suggests polyps can also increase the chance of miscarriage 😔
DH and I need to have a chat but my feeling from his initial reaction is that he doesn’t want to have a big gap, or to pay for private treatment, so this may well be the end of our TTC journey if we don’t conceive naturally soon.
I fee rubbish and am drowning my sorrows in wine!

Maybebaby54321 · 30/08/2023 17:55

I wish there was something I could say. I know that babies have implanted and thrived in many a difficult circumstance and been born happy and healthy 9 months later. I'm sorry your DH seems to be saying there's no other way😪 thinking you hugs xxx
