Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I've heard good things about boots early detection at being close to frers.

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 13:35

@Twocatstwodogs theyre 11, 8, 5 and 2. Almost exactly 3 years between each, although that's down to tcc as we wanted much smaller age gaps but took a long time to conceive each of them.

Twocatstwodogs · 24/08/2023 14:16

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow yes I found Boots early detection similar to FRER. Fingers crossed.

@Maybebaby54321 incredible, what a gang! Fingers crossed it's not a long wait for you and it happens soon

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 24/08/2023 14:34

Ok will see what I can do 🤞🏻. Really annoying as now I have (almost certainly false) hope. Feeling really crampy as well which could mean anything.

I had a look on old mn threads and there are so many about unreliable CB results - I don’t know why they sell them!

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 14:47

I agree @Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I don't know why theu sell them. So many hearts broken thinking they have their bfp.
I really really really hope it's not the case for you and you see a beautiful line!!!

@AnaReis I take magnesium, zinc, iodine, vit d and c, omega 3 as advised by my gp when I went in to tell him we were going to try again.

I found going from 1 child to 2 much harder than when 3 or 4 came along. So for those of you panicking, if you've done 2, you will do 3 easy!!!!!! 💕

Ah I'm going to ask my GP for pointers on supplements as well. Good idea!

And thank you for easing our minds lol I really did find it hard to adjust from 1 to 2 kids, especially emotionally.

So I’ve just gone back to the test I did this morning and there is a definite faint blue line. Didn’t show up within the window that I could see. It’s just an evap isn’t it? I’ve tried to take a pic and can’t really capture it but it is there IRL.

Oooh I don't know, that sort of looks like a line 🤔But last time I used a CB (the ones that give you a plus sign if positive) it did have a horrible evap that really looked like a positive 🙄
I think you'll have to try again tomorrow, but I can definitely see a line. If you have one you can always try with a CB digital. Those don't have evaps xD

I'll never forget, our 2nd was about 2 weeks old and my husband came home and I was crying my eyes out over the spaghetti bolognase because if she woke for a feed, how would I keep cooking for our then 3 year old.
Now I meal prep, multi task and sometimes they just have to wait!! And we are all still alive and happy 😊😊😊

AnaReis · 24/08/2023 15:29

Twocatstwodogs · 24/08/2023 12:41

@Maybebaby54321 Oh wow! That is so so reassuring but also making me ask, are you thinking about a 5th? Sounds like you're a professional to be honest and go for it if you are!

I didn't find going from 1-2 that difficult tbh which sounds mad, what I'm worrying is the logistics of things like, will they fit in the bath, how do I do the playground with a baby not walking a toddler who's wild and a 3-4 yr old and things.... brain in overdrive🤔

For me what worked really good was babywearing! I basically took my 2nd everywhere in the caboo, then wrap or full buckle carrier. We home ed so he was always with me going to playdates and activities for my eldest :) I intend to do the same if we get pregnant again.

On a completely separate note I'm shocked to see this in my local tesco!!! The kids aren't even back to school!!!!

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 15:31

@AnaReis I am a vote for baby wearing which I discovered after the bolognase disaster🤣🤣🤣 amusingly, she didn't even wake for a feed

HappyValleyFan1 · 24/08/2023 15:57

Thanks ladies 💕 AF fatigue has got me too meh but we go again 💪

@AnaReis ooh CD1 buddies. We'll be on a similar timescale this month

@Maybebaby54321 that's reassuring on the 2-3 change. I found 1-2 bonkers 😝 just being pulled in different directions but I can see why 2-3 would be easier as you already can't split yourself in 2. You're amazing juggling 4!

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow hmm that's really annoying. Are you on holiday out of the UK? I'd just try and buy and other test without blue dye if you can

@HappyValleyFan1 Yes! CD1! Let's go!

I'm not sure how it will go this month though. DH just booked an one way flight to Portugal for tomorrow as his grandmother is terminally ill and we don't know how many days she'll survive 😔

So this means that I'll be alone with both kiddos, on my period, no nursery 😩

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow to confuse you further this is by CB next to other tests as I had to check if I was losing my mind. This is cd30 and cd31 (the FRER) so you can see. It happened to me

@AnaReis @Maybebaby54321 - totally on the baby wearing, all about wearing them, just trying to picture wearing baby plus dealing with second born toddler climbing everything and falling from everything in sight, luckily first born is much more sensible and not as wild now but he was. Maybe by the time baby comes second born will be different.... I guess I did it with 2 under 2 so maybe it'll be ok. Often also a dog in the mix howling outside the playground, it'll be a very calm affair......... DH very supportive but not around in the mornings pretty much

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 16:29

@Twocatstwodogs oh I miss that chaos!!! I can't wait to have it again!!! I'm so much better when there's chaos so I can plan and work out how to make everything work together. Now all 4 are easy and I have too much time in the mornings as apart from my little one, they get dressed themselves etc.

Twocatstwodogs · 24/08/2023 16:36

@Maybebaby54321 Ha, amazing! I know what you mean though, I can't sit down, the weirdest feeling sitting down if neither of them need me....feels very weird, and to think when they're older you can't use them as an excuse to leave a social gathering early 😆because you want to go.......

CoffeePlease89 · 24/08/2023 16:44

@Twocatstwodogs I'll start testing around 31st as I'll be around 9 or 10dpo then. Bit behind you guys here I think.

@Maybebaby54321 omg I miss that too! I cry so much at my youngest now just turnt 5, and the fact he doesn't need me as much anymore, I miss having a toddler on my hip, I miss having a pram to hang stuff on, I miss loads of it.

I need some opinions, if I don't have a BFP this month, it will mean if I try next cycle my baby would be due in June 24, and my youngest turns 6 on June 1st. Would that be stupid, should I just quit if it doesn't work this time? Is the age gap too big? Am I selfish on my youngest if he had a brother or sister born 2-3 weeks after his 6th birthday? I don't know what to and I'm feeling confused and torn. What would you do??

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 16:45

@Twocatstwodogs yes I've definitely done that myself!!!! We are an up early and early to bed family which drives my in laws a bit mad!!!

Rightnow1245 · 24/08/2023 16:59

@Twocatstwodogs I can defo see a line, how many dpo are you?

My youngest will be 7 (or almost 7) if/when the next baby arrives and my 2 DDs are already both June babies...as am I and my sister! It's not a problem at all... just makes for a very busy June 😂

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 17:43

@CoffeePlease89
m
My girls birthdays are
Oct 2nd - 11yr old
Jan 3rd - 8yr old
Jan 14th - 5yr old
Feb 9th - 2yr old

With Christmas stuck in there too!!!!!

Then both me and my husband are april!!!!!

None of them have ever had a single complaint about how close their birthday is to their sister. Apart from my Jan 3rd as she doesn't like it being in the Christmas holidays because its harder to organise a party with her school friends!!!!!

Maybebaby54321 · 24/08/2023 17:45

@CoffeePlease89 also the pram thing is funny because each of mine are 3 years apart, 1 comes out the pram and the next goes straight in, so I've been pushing a pram for almost 12 years straight and I legit don't know how I will ever survive with out one!!!!!! I actually feel like I'm walking weird if I go somewhere without the kids 🤣

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 24/08/2023 19:54

@Twocatstwodogs wait so that was your line and now you are pregnant?

I couldn’t get any further than the local spar which didn’t have any tests in stock so I’m going to have to do my remaining CB in the morning and see what happens. We are home late on Saturday night and AF is due on Sunday so I’ll either get a test or AF will get me first!

@Maybebaby54321 Agree about the pram! My youngest is 2.5 so still in it, though she is a much better Walker than DC1 was at this age. I’m clinging on! Find it so handy for carrying stuff!

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 24/08/2023 20:03

@CoffeePlease89 if you’re worried about potentially having birthdays close together, don’t!

My sister and I have birthdays on consecutive days and so do my oldest two children (totally outs self)! It’s great!
