Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

@AnaReis omg keeping everything crossed for you!!

I'm in the same camp for early testing, testing multiple times etc 🥴 also on and off with positive/negative thoughts about whether #3 will actually happen. It's a whirlwind for sure.
I get full on spotting (thinking it's AF) with my pregnancies 🙃 it's a head fuck for sure! And my leutal phases could be longer! 10/11/12 days.

I have spotting again, cramping heavily... It's AF coming.... I'm on 12DPO so if I was pregnant I should have seen at least some sort of VFP. Oh well, onto next cycle 🙄

@AnaReis I don't know whether it's a change in One Steps or just a symptom of serious line eye, but I've so often seen the dye catch at the edge of the test line (teasingly making the snowy white test line even more obvious).

I'm just fed up of this whole sorry game now. I think I'll give it a couple of more cycles (my personal deadline is not really wanting to be 42 when I give birth) then I'm out for good!

Ohhbaby · 23/08/2023 10:02

@Maybebaby54321 ahh such a lovely story to here.
I'm one of 5 and loved it! It was great fun when we were young but almost even more so now we're mostly adults!
I'd love to have a large family myself. My husband says we have to have 6 to beta my parents (said light heartedly of course)

I’ll keep everything crossed for you @AnaReis - you’re not out yet!

CD12 today - OPKs still very negative. We had DH’s SA results back yesterday - low morphology which was a bit of a surprise as we’ve never had issues conceiving before. I wonder if there are a number of ‘not perfect’ things with us, fertility-wise, and maybe it’ll just take a while this time.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 23/08/2023 11:09

@Maybebaby54321 5! That would be brilliant! We’re TTC number 4, but if it happens then that will definitely be the last baby for us (I’m secretly hoping for twins but DH is most definitely not!)

Maybebaby54321 · 23/08/2023 11:44

@AnaReis and @curliegirlie My heart breaks because I know the feeling so well. Ttc has never been easy for us and I've been in the position so many many many months. Don't give up hope. If I'd given up hope after a year with each of my girls, they wouldn't be here as they each took longer than a year. It know its so difficult but I have everything crossed for you both I really do xxxx

HappyValleyFan1 · 23/08/2023 11:46

10dpo and spotting here so think I'm out 🙁

@Clettercletterthatsbetter we had similar with our fertility investigations pre #2. Results weren't ideal and I think probably a contributing factor to our MCs. I think everything has to line up perfectly at the perfect time of the month so don't be too disheartened

Maybebaby54321 · 23/08/2023 11:47

@Clettercletterthatsbetter
I am the oldest of 5 and I have to agree its awesome. But my parents had all 5 of us with ease and yet both me and my sister who also has 4 children, had/have such struggles with conceiving. My mum says it's because stress plays such a big factor and life in general was much less stressful 35 years ago then it is now. I'm inclined to agree to a certain point

curliegirlie · 23/08/2023 11:54

@Maybebaby54321 I'm well over a year here (have been TTC since a surprise pregnancy and MC last March), DD1 took 16 months (10 cycles) and DD2 took 12 months (from the return of my periods when DD1 hit 12 months, I'd actually been off contraception since she was 4 months). So I am very familiar with being in this for the long haul!

I suppose I'd just hoped over optimistically, because the last pregnancy was a random surprise (a couple of weeks or so being a bit lax with the pill) that this time round might be slightly easier, but it's been as hard as ever and not a sniff of anything in these 18 cycles 😢

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 23/08/2023 11:57

I think I went into it this time being a bit naive - DC1 was a happy accident and DC2 and DC3 both took a month or two of trying - we were very lucky. So it’s been a surprise this time that it isn’t happening as easily - we’re both getting on a bit so I guess it was bound to be more difficult.

Maybebaby54321 · 23/08/2023 12:00

@curliegirlie I'm so sorry to hear this and I really really hope it happens for you. Its the most difficult thing to go through. I don't think there's a feeling like it and you can't explain it to someone who's not been through it ❤️ I am thankful for these forums as a safe space to talk about everything and I really do have everything crossed for you xx

Ohhbaby · 23/08/2023 14:42

I so agree on the stress thing. And maybe environmental factors too, more plastic etc.
I'm on CD 16, not really sure how and where, but reckon we'll just crack on and DTD every day or two and see what happens.
Might do OPT next cycle because whatever we're doing now clearly isn't working 😀

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 23/08/2023 15:10

@HappyValleyFan1 sorry to hear about the spotting but you’re still not out!

@Clettercletterthatsbetter this is my fear as well. I’ve always conceived really quickly in the past - 2 of my mcs were accidental pregnancies, DC1 and 2 other mcs were first cycle, and DC2 was the longest - took 3 cycles. (For me the issue has been staying pregnant not getting pregnant!!). But I feel like it is going to take longer this time as I’m older.

Feel sad to be wishing my holiday away but wish I was at home and could test with abandon!

AnaReis · 23/08/2023 18:06

I'm still spotting with no cramps or anything and feel like 💩 I think I ate something that didn't agree with me 🤢

I took another test (because why not 😅🤦🏻‍♀️) just to tell me the same as the others.... Nothing lol (I know, I know, I'm insane, IC exist for people like me 🤣).

AF will almost certainly show up tomorrow, so this will be a 27 day cycle. At least my luteal phase isn't that short, it appears.

As to being naive in TTC well with my 1st at 32 we were NTNP for 6 months and nothing, but the 1st month I decided to do it frequently during my fertile window I got pregnant immediately. With my second at 36 we DTD twice and thought "ah it won't happen right away!" famous last words 😅 we got pregnant at the 1st try. Now at almost 41 I thought it would be the same... Silly me 🙄

Hi everyone! Reading through this thread and thought I'd say good luck to everyone and absolutely love sociality levels of us women and able to chat about the good and the bad. Hoping to join a thread for abit of support and distraction! Mum of 2 laat pregnancy was 8 years ago and if i conceive this will be first baby for my partner. Going to start trying when my period finishes!

Wishing the best for everyone ! X

Maybebaby54321 · 23/08/2023 19:17

Because we've always taken a long time to conceive I feel like I'm going into this with no hope.
I know 35 isn't old in the grand scheme of things but I feel older. I had 3 of my 4 babies in my 20s and it was still a struggle so I feel like this time around who knows.
My husband is a legend for keeping the faith and I'd love to have the same positivity!

WhatTheEll · 23/08/2023 19:36

I feel like I've been told so many different things as well over the years of TTC. Apparently my uterus can be Retroverted and also not! Sounds odd I know. I was having an internal scan once and she said it started Retroverted and ended up inverted which she'd never seen before 🙃
I had two early losses in 2021 and my first born has a very rare chromosome disorder so I feel like we have a lot stacked against us!

However.......I am a glass half full person (full to the top please 🍷) so it's not over until it's definitely over 😬

We will see BFP girls, I can feel it 😘

Oh I hope I can absorb some of my husbands positivity too @Scotmum256 he's that person that is happy with anything, either we have a third or have only 2 kiddos. I was so bummed by my spotting and negative tests today that he and my eldest bought ingredients to make a chocolate mousse, which is one of my favourite desserts (I have a problem with chocolate!) 😅❤

@Maybebaby54321 I hope you get your BFP!!! I don't remember if you told us, did you get any explanation for why it takes a while for you to get pregnant?

@WhatTheEll YES! It would make me so happy to see everyone's BFP (me included) in this thread! 😍I also have a retroverted uterus and been told I have a septum in one ultrasound but none of the other ultrasounds mentioned that. It's really weird.

We were told our tests were normal (weve had many over the years) and we just take longer than 'average'. Because even tho its taken a long time every time and I've never had any losses, I've always gotten pregnant in the end. It's just an exhausting process. But being down about it isn't going to help so I'm going to jump on board the hopeful train my husband is on and just put everything into it.
I'm ovulating today and we've given it all we've got this month so far so you never know!!!

Maybebaby54321 · 23/08/2023 20:11

@AnaReis that's so lovely of them 💕 I love little things like that!!!!

Scotmum256 · 23/08/2023 20:19

Thanks! Looks like a lovely bunch of people and great for the 2 bfp!

Thats lovely @AnaReis sounds like a very caring partner u have there.

I'm unsure how my journey will go but we will see! Last pregnancy I was 25 I'm now nearly 33 . Also never had chin hair then so hormones are clearly different with age 🙃 my cycle can either be like clockwork every 28 days or be like the last 2 months with 42 day cycles. Bought ovulation tests so will be my first time using them. Going to try not stress and what will be will be!

Welcome! If I'm lucky enough to conceive again, this will be a first for me and DP. I have 2DD already from a previous relationship and he has 1 DS... so it's a third for me but jointly it'd be our 4th (& his second) 😅

My DDs are soo excited at the prospect of a baby. The other day they noticed my BBT at the side of my bed and thought it was a pregnancy test 😂 My eldest told her friends and so I had to explain that I'm not! Pretty sure there's now a rumour around the school that I am though 🫣
