Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I was going to mention that thread too as I thought seeing all the responses really shows how much it really does vary. I'm also 36!

HopefullMumto4 · 18/08/2023 07:38

I'm 10dpo 😍

One step has a faint but clear pink line
easy@home has squinter that kinda looks grey
FRER rapid has a clear line

But this is the one I trust....

Massive congratulations on the BFP. Please be sprinkling all the baby dust on the thread for us.

HopefullMumto4 · 18/08/2023 09:33

I'm actually only 32 😂 but I feel so much older because I had my last baby when I was 26 🤦

Although I was convinced my weight will have affected it because I'm a good 3st heavier than when I last had a baby 🤮

Oh definitely! Baby dust to all goes without saying!

Is anyone close to testing?

Rightnow1245 · 18/08/2023 10:06

@HopefullMumto4 Thats also my worry I’m much bigger than before and 4.5 yeas older so worries me lots… also I’m worried my OH will change his mind if it doesn’t happen soon 😅

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 18/08/2023 10:26

I’ve never fully got back to my pre baby weight - the last stubborn half stone will not shift! I always gain loads in early pregnancy though as it is a side effect of the steroids I have to take, along with what is accurately described as “moon face”!!!

I feel like I am less fertile now than last time I tried, mainly because I think I have less EWCM than I used to.

Though my mum had her last children (twins!) when she was 38, and both my grandmothers had kids well into their forties (big Catholic families) so hopefully my genes will help me out! My dad was born when his mum was 46, 5 years after what she thought was her last baby. Came as a bit of a shock I think!

Rightnow1245 · 18/08/2023 10:33

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow thats reassuring 😊

I couldn’t image how nervous I would be if I was starting my family now I would worry so much more.. I mean I would love another bubba but if it wasn’t to be I have my 2 beautiful boys ❤️

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 18/08/2023 11:12

Congratulations @HopefullMumto4 !

AnaReis · 18/08/2023 13:11

I'm really not feeling pregnant at all... and my BBT dropped a lot today.... I really feel... normal, albeit bloated...... Oh well... I'd better start convincing myself to try again next month. I really fear that I'm not very fertile, my cycles are really short with 25 days most of the time, I don't have a lot of EWCM and I think my luteal phase is quite short too...

HappyValleyFan1 · 19/08/2023 07:29

Super pleased for you @HopefullMumto4 🙌🏼 always nice to see it on a digi

@Rightnow1245 that's my fear too that DH will change his mine if it doesn't happen imminently

Sorry you're feeling deflated @AnaReis it can be easy to get too drawn into charting though so I wouldn't worry massively about the BBT drop 🫂

6dpo here which is CD28. I feel a bit nauseous and haven't been able to finish my cuppa this morning but I sometimes feel sick towards AF anyway along with a bit crampy so not holding out loads of hope

AnaReis · 19/08/2023 15:25

You know what's annoying? Is that the symptoms of pregnancy ate the same as when AF is about to show up 😅 such as acne, nausea, tiredness...
Just wanted to rant a bit 🤷🏻‍♀️

Congratulations @HopefullMumto4!!!
It seems to have happened quicker for us each time we've TTC, which isn't what I expected at all but definitely feeling very lucky ❤️ will it be an April due date or early May?

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 20/08/2023 07:43

So I came down with a horrendous vomiting bug (or poss food poisoning?) on Friday evening. Was sick all through the night and then couldn’t keep anything down yesterday including my medication (🤦‍♀️). Thankfully feeling a lot better today and also having what feel like cramps at 6dpo. Really hoping the day of missed meds doesn’t impact anything.

How is everyone else?

Posted the other one too quickly as my toddler decided to fall on top of me 😬 ignore that one...

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow that sounds horrendous, sickness like that is so debilitating. Hope you're feeling much better now?

Just a side topic to the TTC#3 which party was one of the reasons we were hesitant, wondered if other were in the same position. How much support from family do you get childcare wise?

I only have my dad and he has the kids every Thursday whilst we work (one at school) but in laws (separated with their own partners) have never provided any help in 6 years. They do live an hour away but still, never so much as changed a nappy 😅 it doesn't bother me but I just find it frustrating that me and DH have never had a night together with the exception of the night I had DC2 and my husband and his brother were always dumped on their grandparents. I think it's just a generational thing to be honest and we never had children expecting everyone else to look after them it just makes me nervous for bringing another baby into the mix in terms of staying sane!

Clarity16 · 20/08/2023 08:22

Hi,

I think I may as well join this thread. My other children are just turned 5 and about to be 3. I've just gone through the cruelty of an ectopic pregnancy, down a fallopian tube and now waiting to be healed up enough to start trying again...
In retrospect I think I'd have liked a closer age gap then what we are going to end up with, but equally trying to embrace the positives of how it'll be easier having a bit more of a big gap.

HopefullMumto4 · 20/08/2023 08:24

How are you feeling @Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow? Hopefully it was only a short bout of sickness

@HappyValleyFan1 absolutely none what so ever! Last night was the first time any one has EVER had all three of my children overnight in 5.5 years. Ialso live nowhere near family to help with the odd hours babysitting here and there 🙄🙄 but thankfully I am a SAHM and my husband works from home so we make it work.

ah thanks @GinAndBearIt90! Based on Ovulation it will be April 30th but even when I've tracked ovulation it's still changed come the dating scan! One of my babies jumped ahead a whole week! Will yours be late April too?

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 20/08/2023 10:39

@Clarity16 my kids are pretty much the same age - DC1 was 5 in May and DC2 will be 3 in November. They have a 2.5 year age gap and I also wanted similar again too but think there are definite pros to the 3.5 year gap. Sorry to hear about your loss - when will you be able to try again?

thank you @HopefullMumto4 - yes feeling better today thank you. Really hope the day of missed meds doesn’t affect anything.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 20/08/2023 10:52

Oh and we have no family help either. We live in London and family live in Scotland and Ireland so we actually rarely see them.

PILs have had the kids overnight once so far, so we could go to a wedding. They live near BIL and SIL and have their kids all the time - I do wish we were closer sometimes! We have a nanny atm and have accepted that we need to pay through the nose to get a similar level of support.

Welcome @Clarity16

Sorry to hear about the ectopic, hope you're doing ok 💐

Clarity16 · 20/08/2023 12:19

Thank you all. I think I'm going to try again as soon as possible. I feel like I wasted a lot of time umming and ahhing over whether to go for #3 and if nothing else then this experience has shown me not to take my fertility for granted. I would love another child, but I'm also trying to be grateful for what I have and trying not to fixate in case it doesn't happen for us now.

GinAndBearIt90 · 20/08/2023 14:25

@HopefullMumto4 mine is a bit confusing because last period date will put me earlier in April, but if I go off when we DTD and also when I got 3+ on a digital then I think it will be roughly 13th April. Will see at the dating scan I suppose! I'm suspecting will be an end of April baby either way as my last 2 were 10 and 12 days 'overdue' 😅

AnaReis · 20/08/2023 21:20

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow Oh no!! 😥I hope you're feeling better now! How long can you be off the meds before it affects your TTC?

@HappyValleyFan1 none... zero... nothing! It's about how much help we have. Our family is all in Portugal... My in-laws used to visit frequently but haven't visited in a long time (we spent a massive amount of time in Portugal due to covid lockdowns and the death of my mum so I think they might be fed up with us lol). Even when we're in Portugal we have close to zero help... It's quite exhausting... I just came home from a weekend away with the kiddos (my husband needed to work so I took the kids on a weekend trip) and I'm absolutely knackered!... My husband fed and bathed the kids while I was putting everything away and unpacking. It's relentless!... We've never had a night together just the 2 of us either, not even when my 2nd was born because he was born at home lol I don't mind the nights, I'd love to have like an afternoon during the weekend every now and then..... We had a bit during Mondays thanks to a drop-off for my eldest and nursery for my youngest! I'm eagerly waiting for September now loool

@Clarity16 I'm so sorry you had an ectopic pregnancy and lost a tube 😔How are you feeling about that? It must have been so hard 💔if you don't mind me asking, how did you find out? How far along were you?

@HopefullMumto4 I'm also a SAHM ❤stopped working in the end of my daughters pregnancy and haven't gone back ever since. I do miss having a project of my own, but I have so little free time (and apparently want to have even less 😅) that it has been impossible!

Welcome @Clarity16 - I’m
sorry to hear about your ectopic pregnancy. I’ll keep everything crossed that you conceive again quickly and it all goes smoothly.

I’ve been a bit quiet on here as it’s been the ‘waiting to try’ part of the month. CD10 now and not really feeling it this month - I think I’m starting to give up hope!

We’re waiting on the results of DH’s SA, and I’ve had my AMH tested - it came back on the lower end of normal for my age, but still within the normal range. I have day 21 bloods and a scan next week - I just want to know if it looks like we can get pregnant; if not I can make my peace with that and move on.

Clarity16 · 21/08/2023 07:16

Thank you both. I only had very mild symptoms - a couple of days of light spotting and mild pains, but they just felt different to the usual 'growing pains' I've had in the past. I was referred to the EPU and was hoping to be reassured and sent on my way, but instead ending up in same day surgery. Just goes to show it's always worth getting checked I suppose.
