Just my 2 pence from what ive been through ( was in hospital again last night )

Obviously im not a medic and dont know much but hindsight is a wonderful thing - and i think/ feel its important to get your hcg levels checked early on

( i was cautious after my v early positive test but then allowed myself to get excited after a bit - then got v upset wnen it was a miscarriage/ chemical pregnancy)

All been an emotional rollercoaster

And im still bleeding
But should stop in a bit as my hcg levels are down

CurlyWurly1991 · 12/09/2023 08:09

So much news lately I’m struggling to keep up!
Im very sorry to hear about the chemicals reported on this thread. Sending strength to get through to the next opportunity to try, and sticky beans all round.
Feeling a bit frustrated here, I think I’m about CD42. Had a rollercoaster of emotions this cycle with thinking I ovulated and possibly pg to then realising I never ovulated at all… still waiting to find ouT whether I will ovulate still or if it’ll be anovulatory.
signs of ovulation approaching (CM and temp) so tried to snare DH into bed the last couple of days.
im getting a categorical no - then we got into a conversation about how he is feeling forced, etc. Clearly TTC taking its toll.
he says he wants to have another child but there’s virtually no difference in his behaviour - takes the supplements intermittently, crap diet, unwilling to do a SA as yet. So annoying as I am at the other end of the spectrum.
TTC sex is killing our love life! The age pressure doesn’t help either. I ended up just crying last night. Not something I do very often but feeling like it’ll never happen.

El1988 · 12/09/2023 08:15

Hi all - catching up a bit here, I’m not sure where I left off actually!

to those with chemical pregnancies, I’m so sorry, they are so cruel. Hope you are resting up and can take some time for yourselves over the next few days. 🤍 fingers crossed that next month will be it for you guys! 🤞

@Twdfn123 congrats!

heading into the TWW now myself, although really not feeling hopeful as I have so much stress with work that I think I’ve very little chance of getting pregnant. I also have to go to a conference for the next 2 nights, and I think it could be falling right on my ovulation so that’s also pretty crappy.

if we don’t manage it this month then I’ve booked us into a fertility clinic at least for tests. I was also so distracted right now that i went passed my stop by 2 stops on the train to work 🙈

SnookyPook · 12/09/2023 08:44

@Twdfn123 ah that's so reassuring! Congrats again - really hope this one progresses well for you! And don't feel bad - it's the nature of it isn't it that some get good news while others are struggling. At least you give us all some hope! ☺️

@CurlyWurly1991 so sorry you're struggling. It's so frustrating when you feel on different pages isn't it. For the first time ever this cycle, my DH said it wasn't feeling fun and feeling too pressured and I felt so bad... we did conceive though (albeit CP) so 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I did get a bit manic sort of feeling we 'had' to have it certain days, and I was actually feeling a bit despondent in the tww because we missed a couple of days that would have been recommended as per SMEP.. it's so easy to get bogged down in it all. Sorry you're feeling confused about your cycle too. That really doesn't help does it. Sending you big hugs and hope you get some clarity soon. X

@El1988 oh no! Hope you got to work on time! That's rubbish timing with the conference! So typical!! At least you have a plan going forwards and hopefully can get some reassurance soon with the testing etc.

Cressie2 · 12/09/2023 12:32

@Twdfn123 Wonderful news! Like they say above, positive news is what we all need on here as gives us all hope. Really happy for you. X

Twdfn123 · 12/09/2023 12:52

Thank you so much, you're all very kind 🤍 I hope you'll all get your bean very soon xxx

MixedCouple · 12/09/2023 13:32

As someone who worked in the NHS for iver a decade they have too many "Too Dogs" draining all the money. They waste so much money on functions and dos. I remember the last Hospital Manager who left the Trust I was in he got a send off pike thenKing. Using hospital money! A live band, a bucket of money, catering that your wouldnt expect in a hospital. It was disguating he was a high earner and it made me sick.

Although the system in theory is good practically it is not good. And needs changing asap. Sack all the higher ups.
I have been in clinics where they have 0 patoents becuase the booking system was faulty. It is bad. I have sooooooooo many stories. But it is all too depressing.

VixFromThe6ix · 12/09/2023 16:55

@CurlyWurly1991 gosh so sorry to hear what you're going through. It really does take a toll on your love life!!! We were in a similar situation, plus some issues with my partners testosterone levels which is why we ended up going for IUI. It takes the pressure a bit. Not sure if it's something you'd wanna try but I so sympathize with you. I'm sending you tons of virtual hugs for staying strong. You and your partner may need to have a chat about where he sees this going and how serious he is about the baby. I honestly can't wait to be done with TTC.

OP posts:
CurlyWurly1991 · 12/09/2023 18:29

@VixFromThe6ix thank you. I think he just does not cope well with pressure. There are some other issues too which means we do often use a variation of DiY IUI on a shoestring. Basically self insemination. This does help quite a bit in terms of pressure around dtd because honestly anything to seperate out the TTC from the sex is good in my book. He has assured me he is serious about the baby, I think we are both just a bit terrified too!!
I really wish you the best of luck with your IUI treatments.

BB2023 · 12/09/2023 20:15

So sorry it's difficult at the moment @CurlyWurly1991 - it really does start to take it's toll after a while. Hang in there lovely xx

Did tommys miscarriage support tool today / calculation

Just wanhed to share that i rate it - recommend it & found it helpful

If any of you have had 1 miscarriage & havent tried progesterone yet & want to - you can use that from Tommys baby charity as evidence to your gp

Its new news / new research / new rule changes that now say / recommend that after a / one miscarriage - progesterone can help

SouthwestSis · 13/09/2023 16:26

Did my first ever ovulation LH tests yesterday PM (CD9) and today AM (CD10) and its a completely negative, the faintest of lines.
My cycles are quite irregular, but should I be worried? Will test again early this evening.

If your cycles or longer or / and irregular - you could ovulate any time from period end to about cycle day 30

On my last cycle where i I concieved and had my early miscarriage - i ovulated day 21

Cycle before - ovulation was day 28

worldwidetravel2017 · 13/09/2023 16:58

Also - when i was ovulation testing and when using the cheap ovulation tests - i tested twice a day -, am and eve

Sometimes / occasionally you can miss it if your using cheap tests and only testing once a day - might as well test twice a day ...

Often your ovulation is 2 weeks after your period ended
So sometimes you bleed cycle days 1 - 7
Then ovulate day 21

But it varries
And cycle length varies. And everyone is different

FigandHoney · 13/09/2023 18:07

@CurlyWurly1991 Last time it took us 15 months. And it really affected our sex life. Even afterwards. It's so much pressure. For both parties.

@worldwidetravel2017 That's good to know about the tool. Thank you for sharing.

@SouthwestSis Deprnds when you typically ovulate. I have a 28 day cycle and udually ovulate around CD17.

I am totally confused today because my BBT dropped a lot this morning. So not entirely sure if I ovulated or not. Last time I was pregnant, I has a beautiful curve of higher temperatures.
But it's difficult to tell because I only started taking my temperatures last Thursday.
Also ut was really hot outside and in our house on the weekend. And then last night it suddenly got cold. So I am not sure if that affects BBT. I am using my Ava Bracelet.

I have had light cramping and stretching in my uterus since Monday. And was slightly getting my hopes up, although really trying to stop myself from symptom spotting. Think it's all in my head.

I now remember how much I hat what TTC does to your mind.

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/09/2023 18:07

Yes @SouthwestSis i have irregular periods too (although also sometimes go through regular phases of 27 days). I am on about cd43 and currently testing multiple times a day because I feel ovulation is near. One of the best things to monitor is CM which will give the best clues that ovulation is approaching, you can then increase OPKs to multiple times a day to try and catch the peak. You’re looking for CM that gets stretchy, slippery and clear (sorry if you already know this…)

JustTrying1 · 13/09/2023 21:18

Hi everyone! I was just about to start a thread for 35+ so glad I came across this one! Can I join please 🫶
I'm 36, 37 in May next year. This time round we've been TTC for just a few months. Previously TTC with a previous partner and nearly went for IVF - my tests were all inconclusive.
Started the ball rolling quite quickly with tests this time round, I've had the initial bloods which showed low folate levels so I have been prescribed 5mg a day folic acid. Also taking conception plus tablets. Hubby is booked in for swimmers test in November.

I think IVF is off the cards this time as my BMI is over the threshold although I am on the weight loss journey I can't see me shifting it quickly.

Currently on CD13 and peak on the OPKs so into the TWW soon!

Look forward to having some lovely people to chat to and support 😊

BB2023 · 14/09/2023 06:18

Welcome @JustTrying1 - lovely to have you here. Xx

Cressie2 · 14/09/2023 08:46

Welcome @JustTrying1 X

FigandHoney · 14/09/2023 09:46

@JustTrying1 Welcome yo your thread. Hope you get positive results from the tests.

@CurlyWurly1991 I would agree that CM is a good indicator. Although I would add that I had far less of it and it was less clear before I had my first. But the month we did conceive I did have loads of egg white CM.

I am even more confused about what is going on with my body. Can unprotected BDing mess with your cycle?
So my temperature only increased minimally today. Still hovering around the same as Thursday and Friday. Making the weekend and Monday's higher temperatures outliers. But my rhr has spiked.
And then... sorry if this is TMI... but my husband said this morning he can smell me ovulating. I have not talked to him about my cycle at all this month.
And to give some context to this he is in fact usually able to predict my ovulation and my period by smell. Even before we started to TTC. Literally days before it happens.
But then he is also hoping for more BDing. So the statement isn't completely unbiased.

So I'm 4+1 today...am I getting ahead of myself to book in for an early scan for when I hit 7/8 weeks? Has anyone booked in so early? Feel like I'm jinxing myself... x

I booked a private scan early but then had to cancel due to early miscarriage..youll probably be ok though

Chemical pregnancies tend to happen in first 5-6weeks tho

SouthwestSis · 14/09/2023 14:18

Thanks so much for the replies about ovulation testing, it's all new to me!
Tested again yesterday CD10 pm and today CD11 midday and still nothing, I will watch for CM change and keep testing twice a day in the meantime.

Welcome @JustTrying1, good to have you here. Good on you for working on weight loss, I have recently discovered high protein fat free Greek yoghurt which I add a bit of sweetener to and it keeps me full up.

@Twdfn123 I probably wouldn't book a private scan until closer to 10 weeks, and try and keep yourself distracted in the meantime! Can you focus instead on self care and nurturing yourself?

Thanks, I won't really book at 10 weeks as theres no point really being so close to the 12 weeks one. It's more a viability scan im after to let me know it's at least a viable pregnancy. With my 1st miscarriage it was already in progress with my early one and it was nice to know in the end as I knew what was going on :/ 😵

Would want the same this time xx

CurlyWurly1991 · 14/09/2023 14:59

@Twdfn123 i might be wrong but I think if you can have the scan after 6/7 weeks there is more chance of seeing a heartbeat which makes subsequent miscarriage less likely.
