Ugh, sorry @AgeGapBbe , that’s really tough.

Thanks @Muriel84 and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 . She is currently really struggling with her Daddy being gone again, so it has been a week of tantrums and many tears. Should probably focus on being grateful I don’t have to throw morning sickness into that mix 🤣

On a separate note, given that this is a thread of wise women… our house is mid renovation and we have some brutal floorboards. I twisted on the spot earlier and have got a splinter deep in my big toe (through a sock!!) but it’s pretty much parallel to the skin surface. How on earth are you meant to get that out?? I came across a really cool tip for using calpol syringes on splinters, which I’ve tested on others, but I feel like this one has settled itself in for the season.

LeopardLover · 22/04/2023 21:24

@Eirlys1986 Thank you! The pumping life wasn't one I wanted but had to roll with it. Hoping things are different next time round!

@muriel84 Aw, thank you! We aren't taking our little one to Glasto. I think we'll start taking him when he's a bit older! We went last year and left him with my parents, so hoping it goes as smoothly this time. I can't wait!

Go easy on yourself if you do wean, my emotions were everywhere and I felt really rough!

@TheBirdintheCave So sorry to hear about your BFN. Hoping you get that BFP with IVF and it's a sticky little bean. You've really been through it!

@Bumblebee413 I'm so sorry you're feeling so deflated. Bless your toddler and it must be tough for you doing it solo for long periods of time! We have wild tantrums over here. Sorry I can't help re the splinter (I push my little ones then use tweezers) but it sounds really uncomfortable!

We've decided to start TTC casually before using OPKs etc from June! I like the thought of being chill. If I can... 😅

39starstartry · 23/04/2023 00:24

Really got info the grapefruit juice and now I'm awake with heartburn Confused

Eirlys1986 · 23/04/2023 02:27

@39starstartry 😂 This has given me a little chuckle after being up soothing a very grumpy teething toddler at 2am. Hope it’s stopped now and you feel better on a lower dose grapefruit regime tomorrow 👍🏻

TrudyProud · 23/04/2023 08:47

@39starstartry TTC has so many side effects 🤣. How are you feeling now? Have you lowered your grapefruit juice dose?

Think I'm 6DPO over here. Currently sat in the kitchen breastfeeding my 1yo drinking a coffee and looking back at my symptoms at this stage with her (granted I used OPKs then so knew for definite when I ovulated. This time I've not tracked) and not noticed anything this time.

BB2023 · 23/04/2023 11:05

CD22 for me today. Sore nipples the last 6 days! Tested yesterday but it was negative so just hanging on in there for a bit longer x

Bumblebee413 · 23/04/2023 11:20

@BB2023 I don’t think I’ve ever been excited that an effective strangers’ nipples are sore before… 😆 good luck!

BB2023 · 23/04/2023 11:45

Bumblebee413 · 23/04/2023 11:20

@BB2023 I don’t think I’ve ever been excited that an effective strangers’ nipples are sore before… 😆 good luck!

Haha thank you! My nipples were the thing that made me test when I was pregnant woth my daughter but... that was 11 yrs ago so I'm sure a lot had changed with my body & hormones since then. Trying hard not to read too much into it, especially with coming off the pill as it could just be my body gearing up for AF. x

Muriel84 · 23/04/2023 11:48

@Bumblebee413 hows the splinter? Is it out? Sounds horribly painful!

@LeopardLover ooh this sounds so fun. Any chance your FW is over glasto?! I’ve only ever left LO with my mum once over night and I don’t think anyone got much sleep 😬 I think it’s really good to have fun things to look forward to distract from the ttc obsession!

@BB2023 @39starstartry good luck ladies in your tww 🤞🤞🤞 x x x

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 14:05

Hey! Could I please join in? I’m 38 and about to start trying for our second baby after wearing my husband down 🙈 Feel very excited but a bit nervous because of my age.
I was part of another group when I was trying for my little boy (who is now 13 months) and found it really helpful so would be great to chat with you all 😊

Eirlys1986 · 23/04/2023 14:20

@BB2023 here’s hoping the sore nips are a sign of wonderful things to come! 😂
@Mrsspoon3 Hello! It is really nice to be able to speak to everyone on here. Especially when the tww obsessive period takes over!
@AgeGapBbe sorry about the neighbour, sometimes it seems like everyone and his dog are pregnant once you are trying 🙄, it will be your turn one day xx
@Muriel84 has the wean begun? Let us know how you get on.
In other news, I am now CD 7 and about to start smep (partner knows as I have discussed this but I don’t think he knows the starter pistol is about to fire on him over next couple of days! 😂). I am also beginning to love grapefruit juice.

Freya8 · 23/04/2023 15:26

@Eirlys1986 hey on cd 10 today and started smep cd 6 (2days early probs gonna regret that by end of this!! Lol) .. so we are 3 days down and god knows how many to go heres frickin hopin this works!!!! Xx

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 17:16

Oh yes I remember the 2 week wait and all those emotions very well @Eirlys1986 haha, I spent a fortune on tests last time as I’m an obsessive tester 😂
Whats smep? I saw it mentioned a few times but wasn’t sure what it was!

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 17:28

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 22/04/2023 09:26

@TheBirdintheCave I'm so sorry. Really hoping the ivf is a quick journey for you. Sending hugs.

@Muriel84 seconding what @vitahelp said, the ending of breastfeeding was very easy on my baby. And I went mostly cold turkey from 12+ feeds a day to just cows milk. It was harder on me tbh, he was fine with it after about a day. Just mentioning in case you were dreading it like I was

Is anyone trying ubiquinol? Last time I did the It Starts With The Egg vitamin and lifestyle plan, and took masses of stuff! I did just get some ubiquinol and take it for the last month but it is expensive!

I’m taking ubiquinol @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7
Last time we were trying I had 2 chemical pregnancies and I read that these are often due to chromosome problems which ubiquinol can help with. It’s probably a massive coincidence as I think you probably have to take it a lot longer for it to make a difference, but the first cycle after I started taking it I got pregnant with my son, so I’m keen to try it this time. As I say probably a massive coincidence but I thought worth a go! It is super expensive though!

Muriel84 · 23/04/2023 18:07

@Eirlys1986 no not yet! Currently away from my OH for the weekend so didn’t feel like the best time to stop. Maybe this week tho… (maybe!). I cannot commend my OH enough for the effort and dedication he put into SMEP 😂 it would definitely have not happened without his enthusiasm. I shall have to warn him it’s a week till we go again 🙈

I’m quite confused by coq 10 / ubiquinol etc. just took folic acid during my last pregnancy. X

Bumblebee413 · 23/04/2023 18:27

Welcome @Mrsspoon3 !

@Muriel84 nope. It was either decide to go digging or accept that we are now one. I have cowardly gone for the latter…

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 18:36

Thank you @Bumblebee413 😊

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 19:47

Haha, thanks @Eirlys1986! That’s interesting. I was planning to do what we did last time (using Clearblue digital ovulation sticks with the flashing smiley faces) but might try this if it doesn’t work!
Im a bit apprehensive about how we’re going to manage it to be honest as my little boy sleeps in my bed as he won’t sleep anywhere else and my husband and I are in separate bedrooms! 🙈

Eirlys1986 · 23/04/2023 19:56

@Mrsspoon3 I also used the flashy smilies first time round with baby numero uno, used them for one cycle this time but only managed to bother having sex once on fixed smiley day so that was a long shot 😂 then I just had a cycle off as decided I didn’t want a Xmas day baby by my calculations and now we are on cycle 3 but officially 2 of trying.
Ive decided to try cheap OPK boots sticks this month as the flashy smilies are eye watering expensive and I’m already spending all my pennies on proceive max

Eirlys1986 · 23/04/2023 19:58

@Mrsspoon3 the bedroom antics will be difficult with your sleeping arrangements I agree! Does your son go to sleep in your bed before you join him or does he fall asleep with you there? Perhaps either fitting in time with husband before you join him or sneaking out too quickly dtd will have to be tried(stressful!)
Our son is in his own room which is great but he will predictably wake and cry at the worse of times when trying to get amorous 😂

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 21:23

@Eirlys1986 Yeah the Clearblue ones are ridiculously expensive 🙈 I’m hoping to only use them for a cycle or two so I can get used to my cycle as I’m doing the BBT method as well, but my cycles are really irregular.
He goes to sleep with me holding him then I put him on the bed and go back downstairs for a bit, so we could use that time, it’s just a bit off putting thinking he could wake up at any point, which you obviously understand haha 😂
How old’s your son?
Ttc second time round is definitely more complicated isn’t it? 😂

Eirlys1986 · 23/04/2023 21:38

@Mrsspoon3 he’s 18 months now, to be honest I love him to pieces but he is a strong willed active chappy who knows his mind 😂 at present we are getting lots of little mini tantrums in response to pretty much anything (made worse by his teething!). So if I were younger I would prefer to wait a little more for him to at least begin to move out of this stage which I’m sure will only become more challenging over next few years! Plus we are still breastfeeding and up for feeds on average a couple of times overnight too. I am 37 now though and would rather have a few years of toddler hell with two younger ones and just get into the thick of it and accept it than regret leaving it too late. I do however catch myself thinking how the hell am I going to manage a baby on top of current situation multiple times a day 😂
How old is your son?

TrudyProud · 23/04/2023 21:39

@Mrsspoon3 definitely agree it's not as easy with DC (my DD is 12 months old). Thankfully she sleeps in her own room but as you say it's off putting thinking they'll wake at any moment. We wfh a few days a week so had some daytime DTD when she was at nursery .

This is cycle 1 for us. Hopefully we get our BFP

Mrsspoon3 · 23/04/2023 23:13

@Eirlys1986 He sounds like mine haha. It’s good in a way when they have strong personalities, but also definitely a challenge 😂 Hope you all get through this teething episode Ok and this phase starts to get a little easier. Maybe the next one will be super laid back and easy!! 😊

I know what you mean about wondering how you’ll manage both. Mine is 13 months and he’s not the easiest. He’s always been so active, wants my constant aTrenton and he hates any sort of container (car seat, buggy, carrier or just being held) and makes his feelings known very clearly haha. He’s also got some health issues going on (he’s got a hiatus hernia which causes severe reflux so he has loads of hospital appointments and we’re awaiting an appointment with surgeons) so my husband was completely put off having another but I really, really wanted a second and kept telling him it’s now or never given I’m 38 now. He’s eventually given in but definitely isn’t thrilled about it, which is hard! Was your partner keen to have another one now?

@TrudyProud Ah that’s good you both wfh some days! That must be much better than listening out for crying from the other room haha.
Ooh good luck! It’s cycle 1 for us too. Where are you up to this cycle? I’m only on day 2 so getting impatient haha.
