Thanks for the new thread @VixFromThe6ix

@Muriel84 maybe we will be cycle twins? I am 11dpo according to my ovusense and have started spotting so guess it will be CD1 tomorrow. This process is so soul destroying. Onwards and upwards I guess.

Poppy708 · 20/04/2023 17:00

Thank you for the add to the new thread @VixFromThe6ix

does anyone have advice on when the right time is to go to the doctors for tests etc… part of me wants to just to be sure everything is ok but the other part is frightened of what the results could be too.

AF arrived for me today despite us stopping halfway through my cycle last month I still hoped it could have been possible.

@39starstartry I might have to give that a go!

@Poppy708 will this be your first or second and have you been trying for long?

Poppy708 · 20/04/2023 17:18

this will be our first @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 we’ve been trying on and off for 2 years but not long enough or consistently to be at 6 months of trying. I was wondering if it’s something worth going private for just to know either way but so scared too.

Eirlys1986 · 20/04/2023 17:51

Right, I’ve got the grapefruit squash from the shops tonight on way home! 😂 I’m going to just use cheap OPK sticks this cycle as I can’t afford to keep haemorrhaging money on the flashy smiley tests. What app do people use to help read surge results and also what time of day do you test? Do you test twice daily on some days so as not to miss surge? Any tips would be most welcome

Eirlys1986 · 20/04/2023 17:53

@Poppy708 consistent trying for 6 months plus if over 35 or have known PCOS or trying over 1 year if less than 35 is the local guidance in referring to fertility specialists where I work.

Poppy708 · 20/04/2023 18:42

Thanks @Eirlys1986 thats the same criteria where I am too.
it’ll be interesting to read the responses to your earlier post. I brought some cheaper opks too as the clear blue ones were just too expensive and I got fed up of the static smile!

Mirla · 20/04/2023 19:17

@Eirlys1986 I've been using Premom ovulation tests and their app, and it has actually been fine. I had three months of everything being absolutely exactly the same timings so in my last cycle I only tested twice, once on the day I expected peak and once the day after. Then AF was late so I regretted not being more thorough.

Eirlys1986 · 20/04/2023 19:39

@Mirla ive just got boots own OPK as they were only a couple of pounds at present as on offer. Perhaps I can’t use those with any form of app and will have to wing it and cross my fingers. I read that with smep you should just start testing on day 10 so guess I’ll do that and see what occurs. I think ovulation so far has varied from day 14 through to closer to day 16/17

Mirla · 20/04/2023 20:05

@Eirlys1986 It looks like they're the kind that do the analysis for you, yeah. My first cycle I used Clearblue digital (and it cost me 40 euros because I was in a tourist town in France... but I had to know, apparently). But I reckon I prefer the ones where you are photographing the lines and can see the change over time. I'll be ordering more Premom cos I'm perfectly happy with them and they're super cheap.

Bumblebee413 · 20/04/2023 20:07

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 he is working abroad for a year, 6 weeks at a time then 2 weeks off. He started in November so we’re heading towards the halfway point. There’s definite bonuses to us conceiving later in the year, in that he’ll be around for more of the pregnancy which will make a huge difference to toddler wrangling, just aware of my age and the odds of getting pregnant in general, never mind every six weeks 😂 adds a bit of interest to the challenge though!

Muriel84 · 20/04/2023 20:26

@TheFanciestPants hey cycle twin 👋 I’m 13dpo but have been spotting since 10pm. Af due Saturday. It is so soul destroying and I’ve only just begun. trying to muster some enthusiasm for smep take two…

@Eirlys1986 I buy ovulation sticks in savers and Poundland. And I can fuel my cheap pregnancy test stick hoarding at the same time. Win win. I poas twice a day this cycle just gone but I usually only do it once after work cos I don’t fancy doing it at work and you’re meant to wait till after 10am. Must get some grapefruit juice! Maybe the revolting taste will wake me up and I can skip my coffee! 🙈

No advice but just to say I have the same fear. I'd like to know where my fertility is at but also scared for the results.
This is only cycle 1 for us so just need to see how it goes for now but later in the year I'll think more about seeing someone if we've not got anywhere.
Wishinv you lots of luck on your journey x

BB2023 · 20/04/2023 21:00

CD19 for me today. I'm not sure when I ovulated as I screwed up a bit with testing. I got a peak reading on clearblue on CD9 but I thought that seemed early and because I'd not used them before I assumed I'd maybe done something wrong. Then I tested again a few days later and got another peak on CD16. I know now not to do that with the digital tests again. 🫣
So I guess I could potentially be 9DPO but I could also be only 5DPO. All a bit of a mess!

The last few days I've had really sore/sensitive nipples - not the whole boob, specifically nips! I don't want to read too much into it because I know tender breasts can just be a regular part of our cycles so maybe nothing. Just in a bit of a limbo now as I don't really know when my next AF would be due or when I should test. Just hanging around as the days tick by! x

Muriel84 · 21/04/2023 07:55

@LeopardLover it just clicked you’re going to Glastonbury! Are you taking your little one? I’ve been many times in the past and would love to go when DS is a bit older! I’m very jealous! Xx

Muriel84 · 21/04/2023 08:20

Discussed situation with OH last night and have decided to just try everything possible as soon as possible so probably going to stop BF next week and hit the grapefruit juice. Also considering proceive plus. Is there really much difference between the one for women under 35? Other than £20?! Really cashing in on the other 35 fertility anxiety there… x

Eirlys1986 · 21/04/2023 09:45

@Muriel84 good luck with everything! I’ve just drunk my first grapefruit juice of the day 😂 For all my waxing lyrical about proceive max I must shamefully admit I don’t know the difference but I am a bit of a marketer’s dream so I just thought to myself if I’m spending a fair amount on the proceive why not go for the full hog, it evidently seemed to work for us but no one can ever know whether that was just a fluke. Both myself and my partner took the proceive max for one cycle and I just continued to use it in early pregnancy as my vitamins till it ran out. This time around I’m just taking the female one but OH will use the male one if no joy in 3 months we’ve decided.

TheBirdintheCave · 21/04/2023 10:44

I'm out. BFN today at 10dpo 😭 Husband is calling the IVF clinic to order our meds this morning and we'll start the pointless saga that is IVF on CD2 which will be next Wednesday.

TheFanciestPants · 21/04/2023 10:48

Oh @TheBirdintheCave I am so sorry. I know how much it hurts. Got everything crossed for you.

TheBirdintheCave · 21/04/2023 10:50

@TheFanciestPants I really thought we'd have an easier ride of it this time. I remember saying to my husband at the start that surely it couldn't take as long as it did to have our son yet here we are, sixteen months and two miscarriages later.

Poppy708 · 21/04/2023 10:51

Sorry to hear that @TheBirdintheCave fingers crossed for you xx

TheFanciestPants · 21/04/2023 10:54

@TheBirdintheCave I don't really have any words. I have experienced half of both your stats and every month I am gutted. I wish you all the best.

Eirlys1986 · 21/04/2023 11:20

@TheBirdintheCave so sorry to hear about the situation you are in. I can’t imagine how absolutely gutting it must feel. Wishing you all the best with it xxx
