@Muriel84 I am also a bit worried about managing bf due to pain/aversion if pregnant and also logistics of doing it with a bump! How old is your little one btw? My 18 month old is constantly “talking” just not in a language anyone can understand including us so I hope he firms his words up soon!

Muriel84 · 08/05/2023 14:25

@Eirlys1986 I’ve heard so much crap about BF from hcp… it’s terrible. hope you’re ok btw and your tum is settling! Sounds grim. Poor bub too. My son gets such a sore bum from his poo. X

Eirlys1986 · 08/05/2023 14:27

I’m feeling fine thanks, son is having a mammoth nap (we are at 3 hours so far) …..I ain’t complaining

Muriel84 · 08/05/2023 14:31

@Eirlys1986 aw poor guy! I need to wake my son up or we’ll be up till god knows when. He’s 26 months. He’s obsessed with the tube map and books so likes to recite all the stops on whatever line he’s into that day or whatever Julia Donaldson book takes his fancy. While I try and stop myself from saying “you are not bloody stick man gaaaah”.

Eirlys1986 · 08/05/2023 14:48

😂 @Muriel84 I love stick man! All the little films are so cute and evocative too 😊 Jace you read The bowerbird by Julia Donaldson? Soo cute! We just got it yesterday and I’m in love, kid couldn’t care less 😂

Angelsrose · 08/05/2023 14:58

@Clairey332 good luck with #4! @emmatcc1 there's lots of support here whatever your age. I think you can get support from the NHS after 1 year of TTC whatever your age according to the guidelines.

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2023 15:16

Quick question do any of you already have a stroller picked out?

Angelsrose · 08/05/2023 15:49

@TheFanciestPants I do hope that you find the Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant useful! I haven't read any Emily Oster books yet but I will certainly investigate. Thanks :)

Clairey332 · 08/05/2023 16:21

@TrudyProud thats very interesting! Congratulations! How far along are you? Did you have a problem with short LP or was yours pretty normal? I’m only tracking my first month at the moment so I have no idea if everything will happen when it is supposed to in my cycle!

Thanks @Angelsrose i think every conception can be di

Clairey332 · 08/05/2023 16:25

Sorry posted too soon!

I think conception can be so different each time. I’ve known lots of women fall pregnant naturally after a successful IVF pregnancy! Then others take ages to conceive after if not taking very long with their first child etc. With all 3 of mine I had been drinking a lot of alcohol and was on holiday and having nights out around the time I conceived! Have never actually planned a pregnancy and taken all the vitamins and tried to be as healthy as possible before! Ha ha. First time for everything! 😂😂😂 x

Angelsrose · 08/05/2023 16:42

That's really interesting @Clairey332 thanks for sharing :)

LeopardLover · 08/05/2023 17:26

@emmatcc1 Welcome! I'm looking forward to using OPKs this cycle too! I could talk about prams for days. I've had a few - next time round I want a Babyzen YOYO2! I have a really small car and the pavements are small where I live/I get public transport. Otherwise I'd pick a Bugaboo Fox 5!

@Clairey332 Welcome to you too! How exciting you're trying for #4 and taking a different approach this time - obviously being relaxed and having fun worked for you the last times though haha.

@Angelsrose I love a good book so will check out this one, thanks!

@TheFanciestPants I'm taking 100mg of Ubiquinol - it's pretty expensive but I am tempted to double it ha ha. Or switch to the infamous Proceive Max ;) and now I want a Samsung Galaxy 5 to track BBT for me!

Muriel84 · 08/05/2023 17:33

@Eirlys1986 i haven’t heard of that one! Might have to buy it 🙈 our favourite (by which I mean my favourites…) at the mo are Tiddler, tabby mctat and paper dolls. LO is obsessed with the films. We saw the snail and the whale in the cinema. Was quite magical!

@emmatcc1 we have a yoyo too which has been great for us as we don’t have a car and have a small flat. It’s had a lot of use the last two years and has put up with some very rough surfaces, not to mention being lugged on the tube. Can be a bit annoying and juddery but my son has always napped like a dream in it x

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2023 17:38

@LeopardLover What cycle are you on? I’m also thinking about taking folic acid and vitamin b, I heard folic takes a couple weeks to build up.
I have my eyes on the nuna mixx next. I love the complete seat recline and the overall look. I feel like a bassinet would be useless with a baby so early in the year when it’s too cold for walks and it takes way too much space in the car.

Muriel84 · 08/05/2023 17:39

@TheFanciestPants @LeopardLover thats interesting there’s no data on the dose of ubiquinol. There’s 40mg in proceive max. Frustrating there such limited data in womens health.

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2023 17:46

@Muriel84 I’ll need a durable stroller but I’m not sure if I wanna move houses closer to town or more to country side where we are now I love how peaceful it is but I hate driving and doing it with a baby in the car makes me so stressed.

Mummyme87 · 08/05/2023 18:18

Yes you should take folic acid ideally for at least 3months prior to conceiving @emmatcc1

I’m a Maca root fan!! 12 days worth and it worked ♥️ TikTok was right!!

also love pram talk. I had the bugaboo chameleon 3 for my first two and lasted 3years per child. I want an uppa baby vista this time but expensive 😬😬

Eirlys1986 · 08/05/2023 18:40

@emmatcc1 ahhhh prams ❤️, we live in a town but also regularly go off piste into countryside to walk our doggy so I needed one with really good suspension. So we got an uppa baby vista which is great but large and takes up lots of car space, so have got a yo-yo2 for holidays(great as can go into cabin during flights as food very small) and when I know I’m going to shops with small aisles etc. Another benefit of vista is able to convert for 2 kids with an extra seat so will hopefully do this when we conceive baby numero 2.
agree with @Mummyme87 folic acid should ideally be taken 3 months prior to conceiving but definitely for first 3 months of pregnancy. Usual dose 400mcg a day but if you have BMI over 30 or a family history of spins bifida or similar to take 5mg higher dose daily

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2023 18:59

@Eirlys1986 Any other supplements I should take? My partner also stopped smoking so I’m feeling very positive this month.
Where is everyone in their cycle?

Hey! I'm 13dpo pretty sure I'm out with af due tomorrow. But I've spent a while convincing myself I'm pregnant. Had twinges on one side since 5dpo and boob pain like I've never had before. But BFN on 10 and 13dpo. And I think temp had started to drop this morning.... gargh

cobalt123 · 08/05/2023 19:07

I've not posted on here much but it is really helpful to hear from others going through the same stuff. It's quite a lonely journey to be on otherwise!

emmatcc1 · 08/05/2023 19:13

@cobalt123 how long have you been trying?
I feel like bbt is great at detecting ovulation but the heartbreak when it drops at the end is horrible.

TrudyProud · 08/05/2023 19:13

@Muriel84 I know what you mean. I was so confused as I EBF so expected to be free from AF at least until DD was eating solids properly.

We've pretty much weaned her off nap boob - I think starting nursery at 11 months helped with that as though she drank expressed milk she definitely has a straight from the source preference 🤣.

Thankfully I'm finding BF pregnant fine. Sometimes it hurts but that's more because my DD likes to dance/bounce around when latched (I certainly wasn't taught that position in NCT 🤣) but in general it's been the same as pre pregnancy. It's early days though so who knows how it will feel if she still wants boob once I have a bump. I was around 20 weeks before I had a noticeable bump last time so she may have weaned by then. Will let you know if that changes .

@Eirlys1986 yes, I'll never know what conditions helped get my BFP . I'm just grateful. I completely agree with medical professionals well my mum (a midwife) who keeps making side comments about how you can't get pregnant if you bf because it contracts your uterus . Can't wait to tell her when she comes round to look after DD on Thursday... for the last week I've been carrying this secret but want to tell both sets of in laws in person so telling my side on Thursday and my husbands on Saturday.

@Clairey332 I'm around 5 weeks I think (based on LMP my due date is 9th Jan). I never tracked ovulation as it was our first month not using contraception and DH and I decided to see what happened then if no BFP start tracking in the summer. That being said pre pregnancy with DD I had a 24/25 day cycle with a LP of 12days. Since having DD my cycle averages 26 days but have had one or two 31days cycles. Based on when I think I ovulated (19th April) I think my LP remained around 11days .

TrudyProud · 08/05/2023 19:18

@emmatcc1 we have two. I have a cybex gazelle which I love for longer walks as it's sturdy plus will work as a double when DC arrives etc .
Our 2nd is a yo-yo. Great for getting on the tube and can always squeeze on the bus however I wouldn't have put my newborn in it despite it having a newborn carrier as I find it quite flimsy. I constantly use the strap as I'm scared it will roll away. When my daughter turned 4 months the yo-yo was great for holidays .

VixFromThe6ix · 08/05/2023 19:28

Hi to all that just joined!!
I love this group. Very helpful and non judgemental.
We got a maxi Cosi zelia travel system for my first one cause it was half price. It's not bad but we didn't think far enough as it does not double so we will need to buy another stroller that does. I'd love an uppa baby vista 2 but it's expensive.
Currently we use a Trotter trike more than a stroller with my 15mos old. With warmer weather he loves it. I wish it folded, I'd take it everywhere
