Congratulations @FiddleLeaf such lovely news

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 08:39

Nothing to report here. Eight days into IVF now and next scan is tomorrow when hopefully they will give me a date for egg collection. Then I will have to wait months for embryo transfer as I'm at risk of OHSS so I get all of the pain and none of the reward 😭

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/05/2023 09:49

Huge congrats @FiddleLeaf brilliant news!

@TheBirdintheCave hope you're doing okay and not in too much pain at the moment x

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 09:57

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Not as yet, I'm told it only gets bad after the trigger shot, so I'll have to wait and see if it's going to happen and how bad I'm going to get it :/ It's a bit of a dice roll and there's not a lot they can do to temper it if it's going to happen.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/05/2023 11:59

@TheBirdintheCave that is really rubbish, I'm sorry. I'm fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you

TheFanciestPants · 04/05/2023 13:06

@FiddleLeaf congratulations, that's lovely news.

@Eirlys1986 @Un7breakable I finally got my health insurer to agree my follow up gynae appointment. As you wise women of MN alluded to the private GP said a hycosy sounding procedure could be a good next step so will see what the consultant says.

@TheBirdintheCave gosh that sounds really tough, but sounds like you should get a good few eggs at least🙏. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

2DPO by both apps today so keeping up with the vitamins, strict bedtimes and trying to reduce refined sugar. A reflexologist told me that is key, not sure it makes a difference to those who "accidentally" get pregnant but at least my teeth will thank me 😁

Eirlys1986 · 04/05/2023 13:56

@TheFanciestPants great news about the insurer 👍🏻 glad it’s now got sorted for you. Good luck with the refined sugar! As you say, it’s questionable whether those who get pregnant at the drop of a hat do any of these lifestyle things we all do but c’est la vie, it will be good for our body over all 👍🏻

Eirlys1986 · 04/05/2023 13:56

@TheFanciestPants ps, I just realised I sent you that message whilst eating my 2nd shortbread biscuit of the day….. 🙄

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/05/2023 15:42

Haha I just had acupuncture and was told to eat lots of cooked warm veg and fruits, whole food and whole grains, and light on meat. I'm veggie so that's fine, but I was interested that they advised not to eat raw veg etc - everything should be warm to support and digest easily 🤷‍♀️ and lots of broths etc

Eirlys1986 · 04/05/2023 16:19

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 interesting, I have also considered going for acupuncture if we have a few more months with no joy. I’m now 2-3 dpo and already symptom spotting 🙄

VixFromThe6ix · 04/05/2023 18:29

@FiddleLeaf congratulations 🎉 that's so exciting ❤️ how did he propose???

@TheBirdintheCave I hope all goes well for you at the end so the journey is worth it. I know it's a lot to go through.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 interesting!!! Crazy how much we are told we need to adjust our lifestyle to hopefully get pregnant... Yet, some do without any preparation at all lol
I do like broths tho 🤔

@Eirlys1986 I'm going to put it to the test. Last time I did acupuncture and was pregnant the month after starting. This time I've had three sessions, who knows if it was placebo or not 🤷‍♀️ we will see.

It's relaxing anyway. Im going to a TCM place this time. Had a new practitioner today who said today nearly all of her clients (where sperm issues aren't the problem) are pregnant within 3-4 months of acupuncture.

Un7breakable · 04/05/2023 19:40

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 is this general acupuncture or something else?

Muriel84 · 04/05/2023 20:05

@FiddleLeaf that’s lovely news! Congrats 🥳 🥰

@TheFanciestPants @Eirlys1986 my working days are nearly entirely powered by biscuits… 😬

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that’s very interesting to know re: acupuncture! X

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/05/2023 20:31

@Un7breakable last time I went to a Zita West trained fertility acupuncturist, because I had imbalanced hormones, late ovulation and spotting after a miscarriage. I never really got to see if it helped those things because I got pregnant, so the spotting and my period didn't come.

This time I'm going to one two minutes from work, it's a traditional Chinese medicine place that also has fertility as one of their specialisms. They're doing extra stuff like herbs, and moxa etc that the Zita West one didn't do. I'll have to wait and see if it helps - I'm 6 dpo at the moment

LeopardLover · 04/05/2023 22:21

@FiddleLeaf Congratulations! That's so exciting! Do you know when you'd like to get married?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm sooo intrigued by acupuncture! I've also read lots about keeping warm (warm feet 😅) and eating warming foods. I did that when I conceived my son but I'm sure it was just luck ha ha.

Mummyme87 · 04/05/2023 22:22

I’ve looked at acupuncture, and something I’m happy to consider. The fertility clinic I’m looking at had reflexology/acupuncture/aromatherapy practitioners working there

7dpo. Feeling out. Just have a gut feeling it’s not my month 😣

It's nice to hear from you! Hoping tomorrow's scan is a positive one and you aren't waiting too long for that transfer. 🩷

LeopardLover · 05/05/2023 07:06

@Mummyme87 Morning! How are you feeling today? It's so disheartening isn't it. 😔 Really hoping it's your month because you definitely aren't out yet!

Mummyme87 · 05/05/2023 07:43

@LeopardLover I did a bloody cheapie test for unknown reasons, I didn’t think for a minute it would be anything for negative. I never test this early!! I’m okay though, I know really I’m not out just not feeling hopeful.

LeopardLover · 05/05/2023 08:02

@Mummyme87 Sometimes the temptation is real! I have some cheapies too and was going to use one but my toddler wanted to sit on me as I used the toliet and I forgot 😅 I also understand that gut feeling, I have it too and feel my period coming. I'm going to try much harder next month with some sneaky OPKs!

Eirlys1986 · 05/05/2023 08:25

@LeopardLover @Mummyme87 sorry you are both having that gut feeling it isn’t your month, you never know though but I know it sucks when you just have a feeling. @Mummyme87 I also do ridiculous tests when I know they will be negative, I think there’s a part of my brain that just hopes for some fairytale fluke when I do it, the prospect of seeing a positive is sometimes too big a draw to resist. I haven’t bought any tests this month yet and will leave it that way until I reach an appropriate test day. As for the tests we have at work due to bank holiday and working LTFT I just need to resist a test on Tuesday and then by the time I’m next on Thursday it would be less silly of me if I do test.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 05/05/2023 09:26

Actually what are people doing about drinking this w/e? We have a couple of parties, I'm normally drinking, I'm thinking I'll test tomorrow (8dpo) to see. But if negative, do I drink very moderately just in case? Even if it's the slimmest chance?

Muriel84 · 05/05/2023 09:49

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m working nights this weekend so don’t have this issue! I have overwhelming night shift doom rather than ttc obsession the joy 🤣 I would probably have a glass of wine or a beer. I don’t drink heavily (still BF once at night) but do like to have a drink a couple of nights a week. I think that’s the main objective reason for testing early for me! Just 2po here tho. X
