Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

I thought the line had to be dark as the control line? For it to be positive.
that is the only way I can tell I’m ovulating.
I actually thought I ovulated very early in my cycle, line was nearly as dark as the control line, had ovary pain - basically all the symptoms. So presumed that was it. But then I used a opk three days later out of curiosity- very very dark line. So I was really confused. I was ovulating later than expected, with very little symptoms. Weird.
so I’ve learnt we don’t always ovulate when we get the symptoms. Could be days later. Xx

SarahShorty · 30/05/2023 06:35

@Butterfly2000 are you BBTing aswell?

No I haven't been. I just bought a thermometer yesterday so this morning is my first day of temping. I know I probably should have started at the beginning of this cycle

Butterfly2000 · 30/05/2023 06:52

@40andtrying1 From what I understand some women will have a lower peak but still ovulate. It's all very confusing!

Downtherabbithole83 · 30/05/2023 07:04

Hi @Butterfly2000 , I’m going to agree with @40andtrying1 - I believe the line needs to be at least as dark as the control line to indicate an actual peak. Although it varies from person to person (mine have varied between a 0.9 reading and 1.9 as my highest recorded peak) I think the line still needs to be significantly darker than yours looks.

Admittedly I’m coming at this with all of my knowledge gained mostly from Google over the past year so not exactly an expert 😂 I’ve included a picture of my peak (which was lower this month) as an example of how dark the lines can go. Hope it’s useful - if I were you I’d definitely keep testing as the peak can appear from nowhere and disappear just as quickly which is why they say to test at least twice a day when you think it’s due/coming.

@suz2285 @Stillwinston @Downtherabbithole83 @cornflakes86 thank you. Getting my head around my 'new future' so to speak! It's wank if I'm honest! Probably going to turn the 'nursery room' into a lovely home office. Wanted the new defender 90 when I swapped my car recently but the boot was tiny so didn't go for it, I was thinking prams and stuff then, so eyeing those back up.... seems so shallow but I've got to find the plus's to our decision (if that's what you can call them 😔) If anyone needs a babysitter in the Derbyshire area any time ever, hit me up! I promise not to steal your little bubbas 😂 wishing you lots and lots of luck veterans of the thread and all new ladies xxx 💕

Butterfly2000 · 30/05/2023 07:48

@Downtherabbithole83 Thanks for your thoughts. Nothing I can do but keep testing and waiting. What would would we do without Google haha!

Stillwinston · 30/05/2023 12:12

So ladies....as per my usual poas obsession each month I decided to do a clearblue early test this morning and I swear I can see a very feint line 😬 can you calm me down and tell me I've got line eyes please?!!! I don't trust the CV tests tbh (I can find a FRER anywhere at the moment though) so taking this with a proper pinch of salt (also fully expecting it to be an EVAP)

I can see a line but it doesn’t seem central - did it come up with if the time frame? If it was outside of the time I wouldn’t trust it… 🤔

if inside the time frame, defo pee on something else tomorrow!

Stillwinston · 30/05/2023 12:21

@Downtherabbithole83 yep it came up in the timeframe but I agree it looks a bit dodgy 😩

OP posts:
Downtherabbithole83 · 30/05/2023 12:49

Defo a possible if in the time frame - I’ve had an evap like this before but it was only when it dried outside of the time frame.

Have you got another one? Hold and try again?

Jaystarlight · 30/05/2023 12:51

@Downtherabbithole83 I could not get hold of any FR in shops so ordered online but I recommend Boots early test. Cheaper than FR and showed up early for me. Good luck x

suz2285 · 30/05/2023 13:22

@Stillwinston honestly if I hadn't looked at a million tests on here over the last year i'd say that was most certainly positive! But totally understand wanting to test again with another brand.... what DPO are you!? Everything crossed for you! I'd say to try and get another brand and test again tomorrow....

Stillwinston · 30/05/2023 13:27

@suz2285 I'm 12dpo - hoping beyond hope it's real but also trying to keep realistic right now 😬 decided to check the other boots by my office and see if I can get a FRER or similar to test this afternoon as I'm too impatient to wait 😂

40andtrying1 · 30/05/2023 14:08

Aww I really do hope you get pregnant soon. 💓
I am 3dpo now - and the odd twinge (usual hormonal changes I guess)
today I feel incredibly low! In mood and physically exhausted.
Could this be low progesterone? Will this affect my chances of getting pregnant. If so are there tablets available.
cm dry! As usual after ovulation.
I feel I may be out this cycle.

MK85 · 30/05/2023 14:40

Hi to all the new ladies 👋

I've been MIA as its been an eventful few days. OHs mother was taken into hospital (she's doing fine) and our pet passed away over the weekend. We had her 18 years and were both quite bummed about it which has really killed the baby making mood.

The only positive to take away from this weekend is that I'm feeling alot more relaxed with regards to ttc and not obsessing over it all day long

CAJIE · 30/05/2023 14:48

It is not light hearted to call yourself that and also many docs do not use that term anymore.Why are you colluding in misogyny and sexism and ageism by calling yourself geriatric? You aee more than the age of your womb.

MK85 · 30/05/2023 14:48

@Infinitebows I'm so sorry to hear that. Its understandable how you feel about drawing a line and saying enough is enough, but still can't be an easy thing to do . Wishing you all the best and I hope to hear from you time to time

suz2285 · 30/05/2023 14:53

@MK85 sorry to hear about your pet, i'm dreading the day one of our two cats goes.... glad you're feeling a bit more relaxed though

@Stillwinston keep us updated!!

@40andtrying1 honestly it could be anything, i always feel totally rubbish on the lead up to AF. I did a progesterone test last cycle but then I just over analysed the results tbh! There are no tablets as such you'd have to contact the GP to get tests and any treatment. Though there are things that can help to produce progesterone and lift mood, such as making sure you have enough Vit C, Vit D and B12/B6

Stillwinston · 30/05/2023 15:39

@CAJIE you commented the exact same thing when the thread started. If you don't like it then you don't need to be part of it - lots of us have found this thread to be helpful, supportive and - shock horror (!) - light hearted at times.

Hi all,

I have been silently following this thread since I joined. It's a very active thread is great, but I feel a bit bad I am not as good at replying as some of you and therefore not contributing to it being active.

@Infinitebows so sorry to hear of your decision, it really doesn't seem fair. I wish you all the best, and hope you really enjoy a new office and car, not that it ms any consultation for how it has come about, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

Ladies could I borrow some wisdom please? We are only 3 cycles in, and I am currently day 21 of my cycle, does that make me about 7 dpo?

We did have sex several times around the ovulation time and the Dot app said pregnancy chance high. But to be honest I don't have any slight feeling or symptoms of being pregnant.

Where do I start with tracking ovulation, does anyone have any thing worth reading as a start? I am clueless as have spent most of my life preventing pregnancy (and still managed to conceive in my early 20s) but I just have a premonition it is going to take more work this time.

I generally have a slightly shorter cycle than average at around 25/26 days.

Thanks for any pointers in advance.

Infinitebows · 30/05/2023 16:22

@MK85 thank you 💕 wishing you all the best too! I so want to pop on and see some positives soon. Feel like I've made friends with you girls even through a screen and keypad!

@Stillwinston oh my days Mrs!! Please let this be your turn, I'm definitely following just to make sure that IS a BFP!! 🤞🏼 I have my fingers crossed for you xx

@Rusticanella thank you for your good wishes. It's been the most difficult decision I've ever made in all honesty and nothing will take the want of a baby away ever. Feeling rather low at the present....I have a sneaky feeling this will haunt me forever. Wishing you all the best with your TTC journey. 💕

@CAJIE
"Why are you colluding in misogyny and sexism and ageism by calling yourself geriatric?"

Why are you a twat??

These woman are going through enough without this bullshit so crawl back into your little troll cave and fuck off.

@Infinitebows well said!

Ladies… is it real? I’m 8 or 9 dpo. Is it my eyes? I need to sit down
