Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

To say we're all going through the mill with it, the trials and tribulations, the effort, disappointment and the pressure we still, as per your original post suggests @Stillwinston manage to keep it lighthearted with the juicy bits and extra details. Hope you're doing okay xx

whatnots2015 · 26/05/2023 00:46

Hello everyone!
Another geriatric here, it's such a funny word to use. I'm apparently possibly a menopausal geriatric after blood tests. I'm only in my early 40s so it's not what I was expecting.
I believe that there are some kinds of hormone replacement therapy for people who are trying to conceive. I'll have to chat with my GP about what happens next. But for now it's back to my knitting and jigsaws ...

JumpinJellyfish · 26/05/2023 09:24

@Stillwinston after a LOT of googling (including reading random scientific studies) it turns out that what they told us in J17/Mizz back in the day wasn’t true - there is no sperm in pre-cum!! (Unless I think they’ve recently ejaculated and not gone for a wee since). In my case I did get some of the good stuff but (sorry!!) it wasn’t deposited as close to my cervix as it really should have been 😳

@MK85 re sex timing - have you ever tried just relying on waiting for EWCM? I found opks and temping stressful and generally just wait until I see EWCM and then dtd every day until it stops. That usually coincides with me feeling most horny and has worked well so far. (I’ve actually been pregnant 6 times as had 4 mcs).

THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS LOTS OF SWEARING*

Fuckety fuck fuck fuck! Bastard AF showed up today in full force! 2 days early again. I'm out ladies, absolutely devastated. We'd decided last month to knock this whole cruel TTC game on the head if it didn't work this time. I can't keep going through this. I really thought we might have cracked it last time. I'm going to bow out and wish you all the very very best - I'm probably going to lurk in the background in the hope some of you get the positives you deserve soon. To add insult to injury Im meeting DB and his wife (just announced accidentally pregnant) later this evening. That will be fun, inside I'll be dying as they have no idea of our shit journey with TTC and miscarriages etc. It's all a big bag of wank! Rooting for every single lady on this thread 🤞🏼💗🤞🏼💗🤞🏼💗
*grabs the gin bottle

ttcat37 · 27/05/2023 11:39

Oh @Infinitebows 💐💐💐 so sorry to hear that your final try hasn’t worked. Devastating but I completely understand why at some point you have to say enough is enough. DH and I have said the same.
Chuck out all the piss strips, delete the apps, stop monitoring anything.
Typical of cruel mother nature to hit you with this on the day you have to see your DB.
You will always be welcome back here but if you don’t return I hope you get some peace from your decision to stop trying ❤️

Infinitebows · 27/05/2023 17:35

@ttcat37 thank you for your lovely message. Your support, and others on here has kept me sane recently and I've been so grateful for this thread and the lovely ladies on it. I wish you the best and hope you get your little family before you decide to call it a day. Big thanks and much love 💕

Jaystarlight · 27/05/2023 19:32

I've been crazy busy for a few days so haven't had a chance to check in. I'm so bloody sorry @Infinitebows, genuinely devastated for you. I can't even begin to tell you how brave you are for making this decision, please allow yourself time to grieve and process it properly as it really is the hardest decision to make ❤️ please check in from time to time and let us know how you're getting on, sending virtual hugs by the bucket load 💕 xxx

@whatnots2015 welcome! So sorry I missed your post - are you in the process of having tests?

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 28/05/2023 09:33

Hope everyone else is doing ok, I'm 10dpo today and of course my test was a BFN. I know there's obviously still a chance until AF shows but I've been doing this long enough now to know it's another unsuccessful cycle 🤦🏼‍♀️ is anyone here London based and been for private fertility tests/treatment? Just looking for recommendations as that's definitely going to be the next step for us 👎🏻

OP posts:
SarahShorty · 28/05/2023 10:31

@Stillwinston I'm not London-based, but I do travel into London to a clinic for my treatment. I'm at London Women's Clinic. They are amazing.

Stillwinston · 28/05/2023 10:49

@SarahShorty that's great, thanks so much 😊

Jaystarlight · 28/05/2023 11:33

Thank you everyone you are all so kind! I pray for you all. I am 13 dpo was 12 when took test x

ttcat37 · 28/05/2023 15:30

@Stillwinston a family member went to IVI in London. Very challenging circumstances yet they now have a beautiful toddler.

K321 · 28/05/2023 22:09

Not posted before but have just had a positive test following second FET (first one unsuccessful). I am London based and went to a clinic called the Evewell - in general had good experiences there and they are all very nice. I have also heard good things about CRGH in terms of success but apparently a bit less personal/friendly there so it depends what you are looking for. Both expensive though!

whatnots2015 · 28/05/2023 22:47

@Stillwinston I'm just at the start of having tests through my GP and apparently have increased follicle stimulating hormone though I'm not sure what's going on with other hormones at this stage. It's scary to think about deciding to stop TTC or pregnancy loss., good to be here discussing everything.

Butterfly2000 · 29/05/2023 07:09

Good morning my fellow Geri's! So glad I found this thread. Hope it's alright for me to jump on. I'm 38, DH is 42, ttc #1 cycle 4. Awaiting an NHS referral to fertility clinic and dreading my age or weight being mentioned 🙈
This is all such a roller coaster.!
Currently 2dpo. Where are you all in your cycle?
