Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@suz2285 oh those hcg levels are clearly rising . Don't worry yourself too much. Find time to enjoy this moment.
I often get extremely envious when another person announces a pregnancy but I'm honestly very happy for you.
i think what makes this group so special is the fact we know we have all really struggled in our journey. Were all deserving of getting our BFP

Stillwinston · 08/05/2023 14:44

@MK85 absolutely. Everyone on here has had a tough ride of it so I think we can all fully understand the happiness/jealousy conflict that arises when someone else gets a BFP. I have faith that we'll each get there 🤞🏻💕 x

suz2285 · 08/05/2023 15:19

Thanks @MK85 I know it's annoying when someone announces, I just feel like even getting that bfp doesn't mean you're bringing home a baby... right?

Husband is 'wait and see what happens' so not much excitement going on over here! Feel a bit sad it's tinged with uncertainty

Completely understand the conflict though

I am absolutely wiped out the last 2 days, got a headache today, and a really stressful busy week this week so that'll be fun when I'm back in the office tomorrow! Meant to be off today but had to log in and do a couple of hours work to make sure I'm not behind tomorrow

SarahShorty · 08/05/2023 15:29

@suz2285 I've had three positives and lost them all very early. BFPs are nice, especially the ones that actually say 'Pregnant', but they mean absolutely nothing to me these days. It's the sad reality of TTC.

On a positive note, I'm very happy for you and I wish you and your little one well xx

suz2285 · 08/05/2023 15:43

Thanks @SarahShorty my MC was 8 weeks so long enough to assume all was ok.... until it wasn't!

I just really hope it's not a recurring issue 🤞

Infinitebows · 08/05/2023 17:04

@suz2285 please try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done (as I would feel so anxious too) but I hope you can enjoy every single second of happiness that comes with seeing that positive line, it's the best feeling ever and a huge positive step forward in this TTC business. No amount of worrying will change anything so enjoy the moment and I'm hoping it sticks for you and we can follow your positive story from here on in 💞

suz2285 · 08/05/2023 17:20

Thanks @Infinitebows I'm just trying to take each day as it comes 🤞

You guys are all so lovely ❤️

cornflakes86 · 08/05/2023 18:56

@MK85thanks for that information. I knew there had to be some sort of catch !

suz2285 · 09/05/2023 18:25

Does anyone have experience of low progesterone?

I got my 21 day progesterone test back and it's low... which is really not good since I'm currently pregnant! I've sent a note to the doctor tonight asking if I need tests/supplementation

Just thought I'd ask in here, my level came back 12.4nmol/l and the doctors note with the test says this is in the grey area for them and they'd like to see it 30 + to confirm ovulation, now I obviously know I'm ovulating but now I'm worried it's not Enough to sustain the pregnancy and that this is maybe a reason for my last MC as well, not that I can know that but yeah

Google isn't massively helpful about the amount of progesterone needed to sustain it, and obviously it could be higher now that I'm pregnant!

MK85 · 09/05/2023 18:44

@suz2285 try not to worry yourself. There's every possibility that your progesterone has since increased , especially since your pregnant, you ramp up production. Have you had any symptoms prior to the blood test ?
I asked my consultant in the letter about progesterone pecessies as I feel I've had symptoms of low progesterone. The scanty and short periods aswell as the odd short luteal phase. I also question if my last loss could have been due to that.
I'd ask the doctor to take a current progesterone test to see if its in normal range now and if not pester them to prescribe it. For what I've read online , nhs are really reluctant to prescribe it unless you've had 3 loses. Apparently it's really easy to obtain privately

ttcat37 · 09/05/2023 18:49

Sorry I’ve been absent guys, feel like I’m sitting under a cloud a bit this time. But it made my day to hear of your bfp @suz2285 so wanted to pop on and say congrats! 💐
I’m sure your prog levels will have lifted now and if the doc thinks you need it they’ll put you on some progesterone. Don’t forget the EPU too if you want to make sure about what the doc says, especially if you’ve previously had a MC they might be more assertive!

suz2285 · 09/05/2023 19:22

Thanks @MK85 hopefully they'll call tomorrow and I can ask them, I'm hoping they can take new bloods and tell me it's risen! And least it'll start some sort of testing for me! I really do not want to have another MC! see what they say tomorrow i guess

Thanks @ttcat37 hopefully the docs will be helpful, the EPU were amazing last time but I don't think they'll even see you until 6 weeks and only if you're having issues though I could prob phone them for advice which I imagine would be to go see the GP!

MK85 · 09/05/2023 19:48

I had the same issue with epu last time, they wouldn't see me before 6 weeks. Unless you've had recurrent mcs , I don't think anyone is interested . They don't seem to care and it's unfair someone should have to go through a pregnancy loss multiple times before they take notice

cornflakes86 · 09/05/2023 21:57

@suz2285 sorry I have no experience but just thinking, that test is to detect ovulation , not pregnancy so i would imagine as you have conceived this may change the results. Clearly you have ovulated. I wouldn’t read it into it too much until you have spoken with your doctor pregnancy can send hormones all over the place. Try not to worry.

niknaks37 · 10/05/2023 18:47

Ladies! My head is in a spin, I've not been on the last few days as I had been busy. Took a while to catch up from my last post, thanks to the ladies who replied to my post sounds like you had similar experiences to me with pregnacare.
Also @suz2285 congratulations HCG test colour looks strong, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

So I'm having a dilemma! I am 13 dpo, my predicted AF is due today and I thought i would take a HCG test put my mind at rest, really wish I didnt because I saw the faintest of lines! It's not even worth posting a picture, my DH could see it too. Only thing is I get the odd tummy twinge as well so half thinking, is this my AF arriving. My breasts are also not as sore which is usually a sign of period coming. My head is in a total spin!

SarahShorty · 10/05/2023 18:52

@niknaks37 twinges at 13DPO could be implantation. Implantation can take a few days to complete. Fingers crossed for you xx

niknaks37 · 10/05/2023 19:20

@SarahShorty I really hope so, this is the first time since ttc that I have ever seen a very faint line. I dont want to get my hope's up encase it's not bfp.

Maizie83 · 10/05/2023 21:25

This is promising @niknaks37! fingers crossed for a darker line in a few days!

i’m trying not to obsess this month during the TWW, but I had pinky brown spotting with a tiny bit of red last Friday which then stopped. This was about 5DPO (I never did see a LH surge but had EWCM and a high libido around 5 days previous).

We DTD every other day last week (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday), so I would have thought this was way too early for IB.

In any case I caved tonight and POAS. BFN of course, which means it mustn’t have been IB, otherwise I’d have been positive by now. Determined not to test again until AF is late, until I get that far. It’s all driving me a bit mad.

SarahShorty · 10/05/2023 21:56

@Maizie83 that could be ovulation spotting. It can take a few days to make it's way out, just like it can with implantation. I can see there being ovulation spotting at 5DPO.

MK85 · 10/05/2023 21:59

@niknaks37 sounds promising. I'd wait a few days and test again since hcg should double every 2 to 3 days. 🤞.
I reckon we're going to see a string of BFPs on this thread

Maizie83 · 10/05/2023 22:00

@SarahShorty interesting! I have never heard of this, and have never experienced it. Maybe that's what it was! First time for everything. Fingers crossed that Thursdays swimmers stuck around if that is the case!

Stillwinston · 10/05/2023 22:47

@niknaks37 ooh sounds promising! I know you say it's not worth posting a pic but it might be more obvious a line than you think, especially if you OH can see it too 😀🤞🏻

@Maizie83 keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻💕

Infinitebows · 11/05/2023 08:10

Morning all! Sounds like there's a few more BFP's on their way soon. Fingers crossed for you🤞🏼
I know it's all a long crappy waiting game and that we're all in different stages in our cycles but anyone else actually hate this bit in between finishing AF and ovulation. I'm constantly thinking what can be tried differently to make it happen (more sex I know!) speaking of sex we actually had a good session last night as there was zero pressure (far too early for ovulation) sorry if tmi but Im sure I can't be the only one that has it way better when not around ovulation. Back to pissing on sticks in a day or two and the whole stressful situation starts again....wish Mother Nature would just give us a little break and bless us all with a little one.

Maizie83 · 11/05/2023 08:35

@Infinitebows very glad to hear that it's still fun, and has managed to be pressure free for you. I initiate it in such a clinical way these days, it's likely going to take its toll. 😄

It's very draining pissing on sticks, I agree! And the novelty has very much worn off now. Hoping too for a little kindness from Mother Nature! So nice to see some BFPs here, it's giving me hope. ❤️
