Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@suz2285 I 100% see those lines, I'm going to tentatively congratulate you 🎉🥂🍾 you could be our first BFP!!! Have you got a FRER? So excited for you ❤️

@MK85 so sorry it's rough for you right now, sending love & virtual hugs 💕

@Stillwinston I don't, weirdly I almost went in by Asda on the way home today to get one! But I never test this early, so I thought I wouldn't need it 🙈

I might save the FMU in a cup tomorrow and nip down to Tesco and grab one! I'm still kinda expecting AF to arrive tho, see what happens... 🤞🤞🤞

Stillwinston · 06/05/2023 23:12

@suz2285 just looked again at your photos and the line on the easy @ home test is super clear - considering they're less sensitive than the FRERs I reckon you'd have a super strong line on one of them!!! Please keep us posted 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Or whichever internet cheapie brand you used 😂

suz2285 · 06/05/2023 23:15

@Stillwinston one was a Tesco 2 for 99p and one was a easy @ home 😂 both meant to be >25 so a lot more than the FRER .... tempted to nip and get an FRER at the 24 hour Asda I'm not asleep anyway 😂😂😂

Feliciacat · 06/05/2023 23:21

@suz2285 the 24 hour stores usually are not open from midnight on Saturday until 11am on Sunday. Then they’re also closed 5pm on Sunday until 6am on Monday. It’s to do with Sunday trading I think. I used to work in retail and I’d work all night on a Saturday and Sunday. The shops just can’t open longer than 11-5 on Sunday even if they’re 24 hour stores.

suz2285 · 06/05/2023 23:23

@Feliciacat yeah I just checked it closes at 12 and opens at 6am 😂 and I'm cosy in bed anyway! I might get one tomorrow I'll save FMU and test with that later in the day... that seems more reasonable! Hahah

Stillwinston · 06/05/2023 23:23

@suz2285 Do it!!! 😂 I'd 100% be out getting a FRER if I had anywhere near as clear a line as you've got. Rooting for you x🤞🏻💕

MK85 · 06/05/2023 23:32

Ahhh I miss the feeling of doing one .. or six tests just to confirm 😆

suz2285 · 06/05/2023 23:39

Lol @MK85 last time I did 2 on the day I tested and 1 a week later to make sure it stuck 😂 I only did 2 the first day cos DH didn't believe the cheap one and made me go get a clear blue!

It is exciting but I think as you know with loss and difficulty it's never 100% till you have a live baby at the end, everything is tinged with caution and not wanting to hope too much

But for now I shall hope a little bit 🤞

MK85 · 07/05/2023 00:09

@suz2285 I truly think if i was to see a positive, the joy would be shrouded with anxiety that somethings going to go wrong again.
I've tortured myself over and over the past few months wondering what could I have done wrong, yet , I've known people with horrendous diets / people that have drank lots of alcohol throughout their entire pregnancy and still carried a baby to full term . Life is cruel and unfair sometimes

suz2285 · 07/05/2023 05:51

@MK85 100% it's so very sad that loads of us just trying to do our best have such a hard time, I'm constantly beating myself up about being a bit overweight and being stressed and googling constantly and then there's other people who are like oops I'm pregnant again not even trying... so irritating... hugs

Downtherabbithole83 · 07/05/2023 12:01

@suz2285 did you get another test? The easy@home ones really aren’t that sensitive so if you have a line on there it’s looking good. I have everything crossed for you 🤞

Downtherabbithole83 · 07/05/2023 12:11

@MK85 I’m so sorry that you are torturing yourself over this all. I know there will be nothing I can say to help but just wanted to reassure you that you’re not alone in your thoughts.

One thing that my tfmr has shown me is that sometimes shit just happens - I’ve been so careful since with when and how much I exercise, I don’t drink anyway, I’ve been using ovulation tests and taking my vitamins regularly… all I have to show for it is a chemical pregnancy and a decrease in ewcm!

I am fortunate to have had two
successful pregnancies previously where I was able to conceive relatively quickly and had few complications (I mean I couldn’t get them out… but that’s another story!) and I know how lucky I am, especially listening to many stories on here, but they were both with my ex-husband and now myself and my current partner just want one together to complete the family… I was over-analysing everything about why we aren’t catching now (as we managing to conceive relatively quickly - 5 months - with our tfmr pregnancy) and why when we did, it didn’t stick…

So this month I am going to try having a month ‘off’ - though that’s easier said than done when you know time is maybe working against you 🤷‍♀️ If I hear one more ‘my friend conceived really quickly and she’s 44’ story, I might explode 😂😂😂

suz2285 · 07/05/2023 12:19

@Downtherabbithole83 not yet but I did another easy @ home and it's def positive! So prob not much point getting an FRER now!

It's quite a dark line for 10DPO! Still waiting my 21 day progesterone test and obv it's been taken when I was pregnant now! So it'll be interesting to see what it says....

Let's just hope it sticks, found out so early it's just more weeks of anxiety, just trying to remind myself at least I'm getting pregnant so 🤞🤞

Gentle congratulations @suz2285 - that’s a really clear positive on those tests! Remember we are all hear to listen if you need to share your thoughts and worries.

About time we had some good news in this group ❤️

Stillwinston · 07/05/2023 12:57

That's amazing @suz2285 😍 definitely no doubting that result! Hope you're letting yourself enjoy it a little bit even if it's nerve-wracking right now.

Massive congratulations and I'm so happy we've had our first BFP - hopefully there'll be many more in the coming weeks and months 🤞🏻 x

suz2285 · 07/05/2023 13:32

Thank you @Downtherabbithole83 and @Stillwinston! Lucky I didn't rush out to buy a FRER as Asda didn't have any! They had the clear blue early but I didn't bother, I've got regular clear blues and digitals in the cupboard I'll do one of those next week likely 😂 if all still ok

Thanks! I am excited, but nervous! But I know there's nothing I can do to stop whatever may or may not happen so I'm just going to try and enjoy it for now ❤️

Husband comes home from his golf trip tonight, sent him the test, bless he was like wow great news, then 10 mins later 'does that mean the egg is fertilised' 😂 honestly it's a wonder after months of listening to me bang on about the whole thing and how it all works he's still a bit clueless

cornflakes86 · 07/05/2023 15:06

@suz2285 congratulations!!

Maizie83 · 07/05/2023 15:07

@suz2285 this is great news! Congratulations! I know it opens up a whole other chest of worry but this is such a huge, positive step. 🎉

SarahShorty · 07/05/2023 15:33

@suz2285 congratulations! xx

Infinitebows · 07/05/2023 15:50

@suz2285 congratulations 🎉 so envious but wishing you all the best and hope it's a lovely smooth blossoming pregnancy! Brilliant news 💚🩷🩵💛

Mountainview8 · 07/05/2023 20:09

Congratulations @suz2285 , it's lovely to hear some positive news!

MK85 · 08/05/2023 14:28

@cornflakes86 I think the clinic your referring to that offers the refund programme is TFP. We had previously looked into it . If under 38 its unlimited cycles for 2 years but you have to pay a hefty chunk up front. As much as 20k. God knows, could be up since everything has gone up in costs. We didn't proceed as the vast majority of our savings were depleted during covid lockdowns as OH wasn't receiving any business for over 2 years. Things have picked up but they have never fully recovered to that pre covid. We've still considered pursuing the next tier, if 38 and over I think is 3 discounted cycles and still a refund but of a lower percentage. They only thing that would put me off using those refund programmes are are the fact I've spoken to several people who used them and you can wait several months before getting your next cycle going so technically is it really unlimited in that case as that feels quite restricted. OH was telling me this morning he has a few friends who used ivf and all 3 of them had twins as a result. I told him he needs to get the name of that clinic cause I'm definitely going there 😆
