Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

morning ladies 😁i've been quiet on here this week it's a busy stressful week at work, and next week too! another long day today but least i have less time to worry about the TTW! DPO 8 today and this is how far i made it last cycle, so i'm hoping to make it to DPO 9 tomorrow! temp is still above my coverline, but down slightly this morning so i'm hoping it's back up tomorrow!

Have been having some cramping from DPO 4-7 ish, which is not normal for me, felt like AF was coming on DPO 4! @cornflakes86 my 21 day progesterone test arrived yesterday too just in time to take it and get it back in the post box! it's on a 24 hour tracked post with Royal Mail so i'm hoping it makes it to the lab before they shut tomorrow at 3pm, as it's obv a bank holiday on Monday!!! Anyway not much I can do about that now....

So i'm just really waiting for AF to arrive or not now, anytime now! Technically i'm only late in another week, but with the short luteal phase i've no idea! might be back tomorrow with an arrival of AF, who knows! 😂

@Stillwinston sorry to hear about AF
@Infinitebows my cycle is messed up after my MC in Feb too, though it feels like it's been forever this is only my 2nd full cycle since then so i guess i can't be too harsh on my body it's probably trying to rebalance

Honestly it's such a shame that we have to overthink everything, caffeine, baths etc!

Infinitebows · 05/05/2023 08:46

@suz2285 I think a lot of women get the cramping sensation when they're early stages too (I did) but isn't it awful when you're trying to judge if it's AF on her way or early pregnancy cramps? Fingers crossed for you AF stays away and you get a BFP. Same for me with second full cycle, hopefully it's calming down now and the worst is over with. Good luck!

suz2285 · 05/05/2023 09:10

@Infinitebows yeah i certainly had cramping when I was pregnant last time but i remember it being just before i'd expected AF so maybe DPO 12 or so... but this has been from 4DPO! so i just feel like its more likely something to do with my levels being out of whack still.... but can't know anything till AF does or doesnt arrive I guess, and if it does then hopefully i'll have my 21 Day test to give me a clue!

MK85 · 05/05/2023 09:42

@suz2285 I'm currently 5dpo and yesterday I was having quite a bit of cramping. My temp dropped down but I took it inaccurately this morning as I'd had a terrible night's sleep and was laying awake before hand so I don't know weather the dip is a normal luteal dip ( last month is was on 7dpo tho) or an impending period dip as I have had another very very short luteal phase recently.
I'm trying to think positive and im not going to rule myself completely out until AF shows as when I did get pregnant I had bad cramping aswell somewhere around 5 or 6dpo onwards so with cramping I think it can go either way.

Jellyfish1956 · 05/05/2023 11:12

BFN for me this morning at 11dpo. I am so annoyed! Starting to feel like I will never get to see two lines on a test. One more shot for us in May before starting IVF in June. Come on universe send some luck to all the ladies on this thread!
Ok rant over 😅

suz2285 · 05/05/2023 12:09

Sorry @Jellyfish1956 hopefully still hope until AF arrived!

@MK85 so true! Was reading today that the 'dip' that people look for for implantation can happen regardless as it's something to do with the corpus luteum and not really to do with implantation at all... who knows! Never rule out until AF arrives for sure

Stillwinston · 05/05/2023 12:22

@Jellyfish1956 sorry to hear that, will keep fingers crossed that you're just testing too early 🤞🏻❤️

9dpo today for me and a stark white bfn. Already got upset about it. Don’t know why it’s bothered me so much, I think because I had the HSG and hoped it might be a magical treatment which obviously it’s not and I knew that but hope always lingers does it? DH has said we’ll give it 8 weeks and then get booked in with a fertility clinic and ask to start ivf.

Jellyfish1956 · 05/05/2023 12:39

Thanks @Stillwinston and @suz2285 I'm hoping it's late implantation but I think it's wishful thinking at this point!
Fingers crossed for you too @ttcat37

cornflakes86 · 05/05/2023 13:15

@ttcat37 fingers crossed 9dpo is ridiculously early. I’m seriously considering going down the ivf route myself gonna give it a couple of months too.

Stillwinston · 05/05/2023 15:31

@ttcat37 sorry to hear that but hoping that it's also too early for your test to be showing anything 🤞🏻😊

I'm also seriously thinking of just going down the IVF route but the cost is holding me back, anyone thinking of going abroad for it?

I'm out for this cycle, just started period 3 days early so it looks like I definitely need some OPKs for next cycle as I'm obviously not as regular as I thought. Any recommendations?

SarahShorty · 05/05/2023 17:01

@EdithGrantham I use easy@home test strips.

You can get a pack of 40 LH test strips from Amazon for £15 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09TD8J3B2

With that, I also recommend getting yourself a BBT thermometer. They retail for about £10:

EdithGrantham · 05/05/2023 17:22

Thanks, I'll add those to my basket!

MK85 · 05/05/2023 18:06

@ttcat37 stay positive, 9dpo is still very early. The journey can take anywhere from 6 to 12 days to implant and when it done it takes can take a few days for hcg to show up in urine which is why the dont recommended testing before 14dpo 🤞

GLC789 · 05/05/2023 18:41

Just turned 35! We will start TTC at the end of May (I take my last pill the day we come back from holidays - perfect timing) so glad I found this thread! Good luck to all of you! Xx

Downtherabbithole83 · 05/05/2023 19:20

@Jellyfish1956 bfn for me too at 13dpo - I had exactly the same thoughts as you. Just ask annoyed!!!

I’ve had cramping all the way through this time! So hard to tell what’s going on… with my chemical in Feb I had really strong cramps at 9 and 10 dpo but nothing before or after.

I couldn’t have done more to fall pregnant this month and it still didn’t work… I’ve decided to stop all my vitamins as I’ve realised my ewcm has definitely reduced since I started taking them and I’m tempted to also have a month off the ovulation strips… not sure if I’ll stick to that though. Can’t work out which would be more stressful and I want a more relaxed month! This TTC malarky is taking over and I’ve had enough!

cornflakes86 · 05/05/2023 19:21

@Stillwinston i am considering going abroad but not sure. When you look at the websites the places abroad look impressive and cheaper. I wonder with flights etc does it actually work out cheaper in the end. Hard to know. I emailed a place in Prague for an appointment over a week ago and got no reply

cornflakes86 · 05/05/2023 19:23

@Downtherabbithole83 so stressful isn’t it ? I’m taking a month off opks this month just can’t be bothered with them at the moment.

Downtherabbithole83 · 05/05/2023 19:26

@ttcat37 9dpo is so early! Earliest I’ve ever tested positive was 10dpo and even then the line was so faint…

🤞 for you!

Downtherabbithole83 · 05/05/2023 19:35

@cornflakes86 is having the month off making you more or less stressed?

Stillwinston · 05/05/2023 19:46

@Downtherabbithole83 so sorry about your BFN, hope you're doing ok ❤️

@EdithGrantham oh no, really sorry to hear that 😭 hope you're looking after yourself 💕

@GLC789 welcome! We're a good bunch so hopefully you'll find this group supportive while you're TTC 😊

@cornflakes86 that's exactly my thoughts. Plus, you'd need to take like 2 weeks off work to go to all the scans and appointments so not sure it's actually worth it in the long run 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
cornflakes86 · 05/05/2023 20:03

@Downtherabbithole83 probably about the same. I just can’t be bothered for some reason I’m fed up of them. And everything else ! Might order some easy at home ones, I’ve spent a fortune on clearblue over the last while.

Jellyfish1956 · 05/05/2023 20:05

@Downtherabbithole83 haha I was so angry!! I've calmed down a bit now - won't be testing again unless my period is late. It's just so annoying only seeing one line 😂

@Stillwinston we are going with a clinic in the UK. Going to cost a fortune as we don't qualify for funding due to my low AMH but worth a shot! I also froze my eggs when I was in my early 30's and never thought I would need them... but here we are. Have you had any tests done or anything yet?

Downtherabbithole83 · 05/05/2023 20:07

@cornflakes86 I started with clearblue and moved over to easy@home. I really like the app (I like the graphs) and that I could buy a huge box of 100 tests for not much more than a box of the clearblue tests.
