Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@MK85 definitely complain and also phone them again. I worked before in a position where I had to coordinate appointments for people in hospitals. I know from experience unfortunately it’s often the case that you have to keep ringing them repeatedly. You shouldn’t have to and deserve better though :(

cornflakes86 · 22/04/2023 17:00

@Maizie83 keeping my fingers crossed for you nothing worse than seeing a bfn when you are late !

Maizie83 · 23/04/2023 08:21

Well I’m out. AF this morning. The good news is I had a 28 day cycle, which is the first lost-MC, but it also means no baby this year which makes me so sad. Onwards! Really going to try and obsess less this month. Baby dust to you all!

Maizie83 · 23/04/2023 08:22

Meant to say post-MC…

MK85 · 23/04/2023 11:00

@Maizie83 ❤ sending you lots of love. I know It feels like the end of the world when af arrives. Try to stay positive

Stillwinston · 23/04/2023 13:37

@Maizie83 sorry to hear that lovely, hope you're doing ok ❤️

Downtherabbithole83 · 23/04/2023 14:02

Sorry to hear that @Maizie83 - I also found my AF this time particularly difficult because it meant we hadn’t managed to conceive in time to have our rainbow the same year out tfmr baby was due… but like you I’m trying to look for positives. We already have lots of family birthdays in December so maybe January or February would be better… 🤷‍♀️

Hope you’re doing okay - sometimes I find the first day of AF to be better than the wait for it because at least it’s the start of a new cycle and new possibilities xx

Maizie83 · 23/04/2023 14:35

@Stillwinston @MK85 @Downtherabbithole83 thank you all so much. I do feel the positives and the hope of a new cycle, will try to chill out this month! And yes, my DD’s birthday is December so that would have been an insane month! 😅

Stillwinston · 23/04/2023 14:45

@Downtherabbithole83 hope you're doing ok also ❤️

I’m fine thanks @Stillwinston - definitely seem to have had a lower peak than normal and two days earlier than I expected so not sure what that was about. Just relieved we happened to have dtd as I hadn’t been doing my twice a day opks yet! I don’t have much hope for a bfp this month after such low numbers but who knows! Going to continue to focus on exercise and eating a bit healthier - for me though, not because of trying to get pregnant.

How are you doing?

SquashPenguin · 23/04/2023 14:54

37 here, five years (and a bit) trying for #1 🙋🏻‍♀️

4th ivf cycle coming in the next couple of weeks. It feels impossible x

Stillwinston · 23/04/2023 14:58

@SquashPenguin welcome 😊 so sorry to hear how difficult TTC has been for you, I can imagine that things must feel pretty disheartening at times. Hopefully this group can at least offer some moral support for your next IVF cycle. Sending positive vibes your way 💕

I'm ok thanks @Downtherabbithole83, i'm pretty sure this is another unsuccessful month of trying as I don't think we dtd close enough to my peak but we'll see 🤞 officially now in the TWW game and time is dragging 😂 x

I was cutting DH's hair this afternoon and he likes to put on episodes of Clarkson's Farm so he doesn't get bored. My apologies for any spoilers. Clarkson buys some cows and bulls, and one of the cows is infertile. The poor animal couldn't have her own babies. Infertility is a blight in the animal kingdom just as it is in the human world. It's so sad 😢

MK85 · 23/04/2023 17:56

Welcome @SquashPenguin

I'm 37 also trying for #1 . It sucks

I remember that! They tried a few times didn’t they 🥺

@MK85 sorry to hear about how you’ve been treated by your consultant. That seems really off and so frustrating when you’ve got no idea whether the clomid is the right dosage or whether you should try this month or not. Definitely got to PALS if you don’t get any further. Can you request to change consultant?

welcome @SquashPenguin , 37 and trying for #1 too.

Sorry I’ve been absent, been away with my friend to for some sea air and feel a bit more refreshed. Still battling a gross cold though. Got my diazepam ready for HSG on Tuesday 😳 I just want it over with now and am hoping I don’t ovulate until later to give me chance to recover. It will be on day 12 and I imagine I’ll be ‘out of action’ for a day or 2. I ovulate between day 12 - 15! But don’t want to miss that first month after HSG as was told there’s an increased chance of pregnancy.
Ladies who’ve had an HSG, how long was it until you felt ok to DTD?

cornflakes86 · 23/04/2023 19:29

@SarahShorty i watched that episode of Clarksons farm and I turned around to my husband and said “that reminds me of me 😢”

Infinitebows · 23/04/2023 19:44

@Weefreetiffany sounds like you're pregnant to me with those signs! I know you'll be super nervous about things going wrong again (I would be too if I ever get another BFP) actually looking forward/hoping for the achey boobs and nausea feeling so I know I'm pregnant. Fingers crossed this one is the one and you have a lovely pregnancy.
@Maizie83 sorry you're out this month. Hope you're okay, that feeling when AF arrives is just awful. Pleased you're cycle is returning to normal for you and hopefully this will help massively with your ttc journey.
@Downtherabbithole83 that's good thinking, a January/February birthday would be something to look forward to after Christmas.
@SquashPenguin good luck! You'll get there 🤞🏼 for this time x
@Stillwinston we only DTD once! 2 days after peak. Needless to say if I'm not pregnant this month I'm never speaking to DH ever ever ever again 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ I was fuming - fingers crossed for you! Every day feels like a year now again.
Wishing heaps of luck to everyone on this thread 💕

MK85 · 23/04/2023 20:36

@ttcat37 honestly, I felt ok a few hours after the procedure. I could have dtd if I wanted but we didnt because they didn't offer me any advice and I wasn't sure if you could dtd immediately or if we needed to wait a few days ect but apparently you can as soon as you feel ready. Was gutted as I think I ovulated 2 days later that cycle. I had my positive pregnancy test the following month after it. It increases your chances by 30% for upto 3 months afterwards. Think it's worn off me now then as mine was back In nov 😕

Thanks @MK85 . Am hoping the pain won’t last and it’ll just be the violation to get over 😬

did the consultant ever call you back?

MK85 · 24/04/2023 00:22

@ttcat37 i had very mild cramps afterwards but not enough to disrupt activities. I had light bleeding for few hours too. You'll be surprised how quick the whole procedure is. They say its meant to be more painful if you have any blockages . They did identify a possible issue with my left fallopian so that could have been why I found mine painful.

No, haven't heard anything. I'm going to ring them again on Wednesday if I've not heard back. We were told not to dtd until cleared just incase I produce too many follicles but I guess we're going to go for it anyway since they are unable to advise us how to proceed. I think its unlikely anyway as I don't feel a thing

Rainbowwishing · 24/04/2023 14:32

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been absent. We went on a lovely break away and I'm now sat at work with the post holiday blues.
My boobs hurt a bit today, like I have ovulated, but I am pretty certain I haven't. It would have been way too early last week, and my OPKs since Saturday have been low. Hoping it comes soon and saves me another 40+ day cycle.
I had a call from the fertility consultant today after a hysteroscopy to check fibroids etc. All absolutely fine, so he next suggests IVF but my county doesn't offer any if you are over 35 - what an actual joke?? Honestly, I just can't be doing with some of this madness.

@MK85 I am sorry about your poor experience. I really hope you get some better treatment, as I'm pretty sure by prescribing you clomid that they need to monitor you. I would do the same as @cornflakes86 suggested and just harass them on the phone until you get somewhere. Stress you don't need though, it's so unfair!

@SquashPenguin Good luck for your next round! I am also 37 TTC #1......and patience is wearing thin!

Hope everyone is doing OK xx

Irishgirl2015 · 24/04/2023 14:59

Hi all,

I'm out this month too - no luck of the Irish for us this month unfortunately!

Had day 3 bloods today to see how things are and getting myself back in a positive mindset for the month. Really going to focus on diet / exercise / sleep and trying to manage stress. Still trying keeping positive that it will happen soon.

I had a similar thing at the weekend when my period came about how this was it - no baby in 2023. Really hard isn't it. Anyways, heads up - 2024 is what it is all about now ladies.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and starting a good week all around.

polkadotpixie · 24/04/2023 17:52

Hello, please can I join? I'm 38 (39 next month) and TTC#2, I think this is cycle 22 😩 I use OPKs and chart my BBT as well as taking every vitamin under the sun!

I had an early MC @ 5+3 in August 2021 and nothing since. DS took 11 cycles so I wasn't expecting it to be easy but I didn't expect it to be this hard either!

We've had all the tests, AMH/AFC/HyCoSy and semen analysis all normal. I had a diagnostic laparoscopy last September and minor Endo treated but still no luck

I'm currently 11dpo and AF is due today (I have a 10 luteal phase which is obviously not ideal), nothing yet but I have cramps so I'm sure she's incoming

We're starting a letrozole cycle once AF arrives so fingers crossed it does the trick because IVF would cripple us financially

Maizie83 · 24/04/2023 18:31

@Irishgirl2015 I’m really sorry to hear that. It sounds like you’re in a really good headspace with it all. Hoping we can share some good news soon! And yes, I really hope 2024 is the year for all of us. Take it from me, Christmas kids birthdays are a lot amidst all the other festive mayhem!
