That’s really good to hear @Downtherabbithole83

EMcG3 · 11/09/2024 17:54

@Downtherabbithole83 - I did the same. It took us forever of talking about the results to look at the rest of it and realise we were having a boy.

I hope you have a similar experience to me and the rest of your pregnancy is just a bit more lighthearted now that you are more clear of the long shadow of TFMR.

MrsScotland · 11/09/2024 21:09

Oh this is good news! It took a while for
good news to sink in for me, I felt
shell shocked a lot of the time!

FairyPools89 · 14/09/2024 05:42

I just wanted to share an update after having received some lovely support and hope on this thread before. I had a tfmr at 23 weeks last August (2023) when we discovered our baby’s brain hadn’t developed at our 20 week scan. After deciding to try again, getting pregnant and going through a mentally gruelling pregnancy with so many scans, I gave birth to our baby boy at the end of July this year - he’s now 7 weeks old. We had a bit of a bumpy start but things have settled now so I just wanted to share on here, as when I first joined this thread I found it so reassuring to know that others had made it through a subsequent pregnancy and got a baby at the end of it. Sending everyone who is still waiting and trying so much love and hope, and thank you again for the support and care you showed to me - it helped to get me through xxx

Mummysparrow · 14/09/2024 09:58

Hi, I want to rejoin the chat after being absent for ages. Currently on my second month of TTC after my TFMR in May. Currently 8dpo going stir crazy 🤣
Congratulations @FairyPools89 its great to see such positive outcomes and gives me the motivation to keep going. I hope you are doing well x

EMcG3 · 14/09/2024 13:51

@FairyPools89 - thanks so much for sharing. I really hope that your next 7 weeks are smooth, as you get your feet under you.

erinnn0420 · 27/10/2024 15:58

Hi all, not been on here in a while but wanted to pop on to say after TFMR in Dec 2023 with first pregnancy (having fell pregnant first try), and month 10 TTC again, I have just gotten a very strong positive HCG pregnancy test!! I don’t think it’s completely hut me yet, but I am very very scared right now!

Rumbleinthecrumble · 27/10/2024 16:52

@MrsScotland was thinking of you today as I think you’re due imminently. Hope it all goes well x

MrsScotland · 27/10/2024 17:12

Gentle congratulations @erinnn0420 - I know it’s daunting but also so special and I really hope it all goes well for you.

thanks @Rumbleinthecrumble I am indeed, due on Saturday. After having a v smooth pregnancy I have been to triage twice in 24 hours, I am developing pre-eclampsia so have agreed to extra monitoring and an induction booked too. In the meantime I’m hoping baby comes of his own accord!

Downtherabbithole83 · 27/10/2024 21:10

A gentle congrats from me too @erinnn0420 xx

@MrsScotland your due date seems to have come round quickly! Sorry to hear it’s not been the smoothest of sailing recently - hope baby comes soon for you!

AMothersLove123 · 27/10/2024 21:43

Congratulations @erinnn0420, I got my positive 4 days ago and I could not believe my eyes. I literally had zero symptoms. Feeling incredibly anxious every day, just hoping and praying things continue positively. Nice to have each other at the same stage.

@MrsScotland wishing you all the best for the coming days and a safe arrival of your beautiful baby.

Gingerk1tty · 28/10/2024 07:01

An update from me too, we welcome our little girl into the world by planned C-section last week. She's doing brilliantly and I'm recovering well.

Best of luck to @MrsScotland and all of you who are trying or pregnant.

Rumbleinthecrumble · 28/10/2024 07:36

Congratulations @Gingerk1tty and fingers crossed for a smooth arrival for you @MrsScotland.

I wanted to say to all those who have recently got a positive test that the anxiety does diminish a bit. The wait between scans can be a challenge but I’ve been lucky enough to be able to feel lots of movement which has helped me feel reassured.

Not much longer to go for me. Sending love to everyone on the TTC journey too, in many ways the hardest part of all x

Downtherabbithole83 · 28/10/2024 21:26

Congrats @Gingerk1tty.

This thread is full of lovely news this week ❤️

Thank you so much everyone! Spoke with midwife today and I’ve been given extra folic acid (already taking the nhs ones that have vit C and D in them too.), so the dose is a bit higher. She reckons I’m around 4 weeks + 3 days and I have first appointment with her 2 weeks tomorrow. I’m an anxious person as it is, so this will definitely heighten those feelings but also feeling a strength coming through as well. Trying to not think too deeply and just take each day and appointment as they come. 🤞🏼

@AMothersLove123 congratualtions!! It is so nice to have someone else around the same stage. My fingers are crossed for us, and to everyone else pregnant or still TTC!

Massive congrats @Gingerk1tty on the arrival of your baby! So lovely to hear ❤️

@MrsScotland @Rumbleinthecrumble wishing you both all the best and lots of love for the coming days/weeks! I hope all goes well ❤️

Pickled24 · 31/10/2024 10:33

Congratulations @Gingerk1tty lovely news hope you are all doing well!
How are you feeling @erinnn0420 a gentle congratulations to you also ❤️
I hope this is ok to ask here and not insensitive to anyone still on the journey, I am nearly 23 weeks now and being scanned regularly and all looks well so far but even though a bit away I’m getting so anxious about the birth, with my daughter I laboured at 26 weeks and delivered her but I am so afraid of labour again and it going wrong that I’m leaning towards a c section but my team are trying to get me to go “natural” did anyone else feel this way that a c section felt like a better idea? I go round and round and round!!

There are risks with any method of childbirth. I think a C-section can be seen as an easier option - it is quicker and the delivery date is planned - some people recover really quickly, other people really struggle. You’d need more help directly after birth and for at least a couple of weeks afterwards with regards movement and lifting baby. You’re also not allowed to drive afterwards for at least 8 weeks I think. There are some risks about wound infection, scarring and pelvic floor issues although the latter would apply for vaginal delivery. Finally some possible risks to baby - I think travelling through the vaginal canal helps with clearing their lungs and skeletal alignment.

If you’ve delivered vaginally before your body will know what to do so to speak, and I’ve been told that a second birth is easier because of this. There are obviously risks to this method too, need for an episiotomy, possible tearing, possible need for assisted (instrument) delivery which has other risks to mum - these are again lower for a second baby.

It can be overwhelming trying to weigh it all up. I would maybe ask the midwives what they think the benefits to a ‘natural birth’ are. Ultimately you can take the path of a natural birth and end up needing a c-section anyway. It must be something you feel comfortable with.

I’ve had two c sections and have already discussed a third with my consultant which has been agreed. This was never my planned route - I laboured for 36 hours with my first and even with every possible intervention I only got to 6cm (it took over 12 hours to go from 4 to 6cm even with them breaking my waters and inducing). I ended up with an emergency section because my daughter was getting distressed and kept pulling up (apparently). My second daughter was an elective section.

I am one of the ‘lucky’ ones who had no infection and a straightforward recovery - I believe some of this was down to being relatively fit before hand, some was because of following the strict rest instructions and the rest was luck. However, I was still ‘out of action’ for a good couple of weeks and wasn’t able to drive until around 4 weeks (you have to be able to do an emergency stop and check with your insurer). I also couldn’t push the buggy, do basic jobs around the house and to start with getting myself out of bed was a challenge!

It’s also important to note that I have still wet myself when vomiting a number of times with this pregnancy and also lost a little urine when I sneezed hard earlier today 😂🤦‍♀️ so there is no guarantee that a c section will save your pelvic floor 😂😂😂

I will be having an elective again: I am very petite and seem to make massive babies plus a section is what I know and pushing now could risk rupture because of the previous two sections. If you have any specific questions about an elective section, feel free to ask.

Whatever you do, make sure you make the decision for you and baby. You’ll get loads of advice from loads of people but at the end of the day, you have to do what you feel is right.

@Pickled24 thank you very much. All going well here thank you and feeling very lucky to have completed our family.

I had an elective section because I had a 3rd degree tear with my son and big post-partum haemorrhage so c-section was considered the safest choice for me. I'm now 16 days pp and have been off painkillers for a couple of days and generally feeling pretty good, certainly much better than I did after my tear. The first 5 days were really quite painful though and it was very difficult getting out of bed and changing nappies etc. I'm also needing to be very vigilant with wound care as my wound has been quite red and seems to be threatening infection, but so far have avoided needing antibiotics.

The section itself was lovely, very calm and wonderful meeting our little girl without having laboured.

If a repeat tear and PPH wasn't such a risk, I would have opted for a vaginal delivery, mostly because I can't lift my toddler and although I'm no longer in pain, I am quite limited in terms of what I can do.

Best of luck making your decision, it's not easy! But ultimately it is your birth and your choice so stand firm whatever you decide.

Hi all, hope everyone is well!

Quick update from me, currently 11+5 weeks. I had an early scan at around 6 weeks, and got booked in for NIPT bloods for around the 10 week mark. This was last Wednesdsy and they scanned me again then too at which point I was measuring exactly 11 weeks that day. We received our results today, and feeling so lucky to have low risk come back for the 3 syndromes! I am back in for my NHS 12 week scan this Thursday. It’s all feeling a lot more real now, although my anxiety is still pretty high and assume it may remain throughout the rest of my pregnancy. Eek! Taking each day as it comes and being/feeling grateful in the moment!

Yesterday marked 1 year since my medical misscarriage of my first pregnancy. It was a tough one!

Sooo good to hear! Congrats! We TFMR may 3rd this year and had our next positive October 7th. So four months TTC (I tried every trick in the book but I believe acupuncture is what did it)

we also got low risk NIPT at 11 weeks and I think only now at 14 weeks I’m starting to let my anxiety ease. But after the results the anxiety didn’t just disappear like I imagined. I was still pretty up a height for five days.

im starting to feel excited now. I just keep saying im now in the same position as any other pregnancy at this stage right now.

Thank you so much! We fell pregnant again after 8 months TTC.

So pleased to hear of your low risk NIPT aswell, that’s great! Yeah think I’m the same, I expected to feel massive relief when we heard yesterday but I suppose it will take a few days to sink in.

That is such a good mindset to have!! I will stick to that as well, your so right. ❤️

I was thinking about you yesterday @erinnn0420. I have my 12 week scan on Thursday too. We’ve had a few scans in the EPU so far. Had a scare at 6 weeks where they thought I maybe had one fertilised egg in my uterus but another ectopic at the same time. It was a stressful day but thank goodness it was a false alarm. Brilliant news about your NIPT. Where I live we don’t have the NIPT through NHS, only a quad test at 16 weeks so we will need to wait a little longer. Feeling incredibly anxious for Thursday and currently in bed with the flu, hope it doesn’t affect this little baby 🙏🏻🙏🏻 best of luck for Thursday!

MrsScotland · 17/12/2024 13:06

Hi ladies

lots of positive updates on here, so pleased for you all.

I’ve realised I haven’t updated, our healthy baby boy arrived on 1st November at 39+6. I was booked for induction but went into labour naturally 12 hours before my appt! I didn’t progress from 5cm in about 12 hours, I was in so much pain until I got an epidural. A section was suggested, but someone else had to go first and by the time the Consultant came back 2 hours later, baby had moved position and I was 10cm! It was such a rollercoaster but he arrived safely, 36 hours after the first contractions.

Recovery was so tough, I was readmitted for IV antibiotics days 5-7 due to an infection in my episiotomy wound. I then got a further infection weeks later and I have been pretty immobile due to sciatic problems.

But I’d take all of this all over again as baby is here, healthy and thriving. He’s such a big boy, so long! We look at him and just can’t believe after infertility and losing a baby girl to T18, here we are, parents to the cutest wee thing.

I truly wish for this for all of you on here ❤️
