Starting IVF December 2022- looking for a tribe!

mrsmw132 · 20/11/2022 19:18

Hello fellow IVF buddies (hopefully),

My wife and I will be starting our first round of IVF in December/ January. I will be carrying.

We lost a baby this time last year with a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. So this is a charged time of year for us.
We are excited and nervous.

We have had our initial consultation- AMH and egg reserve looked good.

We have our nurses appointment this week.

I am always terrified of being weighed- I’m always sitting in the 29 category- I would love to be lower but struggle with weight loss.
How many times and when were you weighed during your cycles?

Looking for others who are going through IVF at this time to swap anxieties and stories with a keep each other going.

I confide in my wife also, but sometimes it’s nice to talk to the stranger friends you make here to keep you going!!

thanks
Mrs M-w

@TheBirdintheCave We’re doing our NHS round at CARE so I think we’ll probably stick with them because they do extra tests like DNA frag, which I think we might need to explore. I’ve also read about AOA which might help with fertilisation.

I don’t have many hopes for this transfer to be honest.

MRSLMF · 08/02/2023 19:44

Mrsmw Congratulations 🎊 this is fantastic news! So happy for you!
Lauralozzle hang in there! How many days since your transfer?
Does anyone know with a frozen transfer which cycle day they do it? My appointment falls on predicted day 1 of cycle which just so happens, the appointment wasn't planned specifically for day 1.
I'm just really hoping we can use our frozen embryo ASAP! Xx

Nk11 · 08/02/2023 22:32

@MRSLMF I’ve just had a frozen transfer and had to start medication on cycle day 2. Had to have a full cycle between the fresh transfer not working and starting the frozen transfer. Had the transfer yesterday on cycle day 18 after getting my lining to the best thickness then starting the progesterone for 5 days.

mrsmw132 · 09/02/2023 10:23

I have confirmed OHSS :(
Still needing to drink 3 litres of water a day 😂
More fragments injections.
But they are monitoring it.

Beta today 🤞

Oh no :( That's one of my biggest fears. I hope your betas go well!

Thank you!! Do you think I'm probably looking at end of march then before starting FET? My fresh cycle was January and started bleeding around 26th January

Nk11 · 09/02/2023 12:21

@MRSLMF You should be able to start meds when your next cycle starts if you get things in place before then, but if your appointment isn’t until your next cycle day 1 then I would imagine you will have to wait until the next cycle after that.

So for me I had to really push for a post-result consultation then get a pre-treatment appointment and pay so they would give me a prescription for the meds. I only had one frozen and I wanted to get on with it so I didn’t wonder whether it would work or not for too long. I would say if you are wanting to go ahead next cycle let them know that asap and try get an appointment sooner.

mrsmw132 · 09/02/2023 13:08

Beta 247
We're 🤰!!!!

I had a mock cycle and then started the second period I was at the clinic.

I would have started the first period but they chose not to down regulate over Christmas and just go straight for stims in January.

Woohoo, congratulations @mrsmw132 Let's hope this is a sticky bean :D

TheBirdintheCave · 09/02/2023 14:26

I'm just keen to get going with ours now that I've decided that's the route we're taking. I imagine it will be the March cycle (as AF is due tomorrow) so possibly a Christmas baby.

What more do they need to do to me before a cycle starts? I've already had a pelvic scan and AMH blood test. Any other tests?

MRSLMF · 09/02/2023 18:24

Thank you Nk11 I'm on a funded treatment cycle so my meds are included, hopefully they can just do me a prescription on the 23rd to collect that day 😀 provide AF doesn't show up before hand. That's the earliest F2F appt they had.
Birdinthecave my tests were so long ago I actually don't remember sorry, we were delayed due to hubby being deployed with the armed forces for 6 months then had to do the application for funding from armed forces which tool forever but gave us 3 funded cycles so was worth the wait :) then the clinic had an 8 week waiting list. If your self funding I'm not sure how it works hopefully it means you can start ASAP xxx

Nk11 · 09/02/2023 21:46

@TheBirdintheCave I had my thyroid level checked and then just hepatitis/hiv then we could start. I did short protocol / mild ivf and that was injections starting from cycle day 2.

@MRSLMF sounds positive then that you should be able to go ahead with your next cycle fingers crossed 🤞 I am 2 days post transfer 🤯

TheBirdintheCave · 09/02/2023 22:25

@Nk11 Ah ok great! I've already had my thyroid checked so can tick that off the list.

@Nk11 Oh I missed the end bit. How exciting! Will you test early or wait til the official day?

mrsmw132 · 14/02/2023 10:04

Quick update -

My ovaries decided to have a house party and OHSS got bad.
During the night hospital check up and am no on monitoring :(
Hopefully baby is ok and I will get to see them on the 2nd. Fingers crossed.

How is everyone else?

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2023 10:19

@mrsmw132 Oh that's awful :( I hope they manage to get it under control and that the wee one is ok in there. Are you being kept in hospital?

I'm ok. We had our 'go' consultation yesterday so they're drawing up our IVF plan with the provisional start date of when I get my next AF (so around the 13th of March). In the mean time I'm being tested for clotting disorders.

SH998 · 15/02/2023 14:02

Hi Ladies, your thoughts and advise if possible please - feel free to be honest, I can handle it lol :)
This is my second IVF attempt (last attempted ended in an 8 week miscarriage and a failed FET), today is day 9 of my cycle, day 8 of meds and also my first scan day. Results were 8 follicles measuring between 10 and 18, with a further 2 showing under 10. Measurements were:
2 at 18
1 at 15
1 at 13
1 at 12
1 at 11
2 at 10
A further 2 under 10.
At this stage on my last cycle I was showing approx. 14 follicles but I'm pretty sure they weren't as mature as they are now at this stage. I have another scan on Friday but I have that feeling the cycle will be cancelled (the nurse was lovely but didn't seem that optimistic although she didn't say as much). She did say my last count was better and that there is still time for the smaller ones to catch up.
I expected my body to react pretty much the same as last time but it hasn't so now I'm frantically googling all sorts (this is something I promised myself I wouldn't do this time around) :(
Any thoughts or experiences regarding day size/quantities?

@SH998 that is tough. Why do you think they will cancel?

I took ages to get above 18 and ended up with 14 days of stims. At collection they got 10 and 8 fertilised.

Hearing the numbers each day I found stressful. Little ones why aren't you growing fast enough.
Fingers crossed

I've been scanned a few times this week but not again until Friday.
Currently going through trying to buy a new car, different stresses!

Hopefully baby is growing safely. Trying not to think too much about my scan next week.
We found out that I had a missed miscarriage at the 7 week scan last time. Putting lots of positive thoughts into my uterus!!

Hi all,

Hope we are all doing ok and treatments progressing as they should.
We have a 6 week scan today. Baby and heart beat are there. Hoping they grow happy and healthy for next weeks scan.

Where is everyone at the moment on their treatment cycle?

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 23/02/2023 20:32

@mrsmw132 My clinic didn't get their act together re paper work so now we're looking at an April start instead 😭 Currently half way through a natural cycle.

I'm so happy your scan went well!

Lauralozzle · 24/02/2023 09:02

@mrsmw132 Congrats tests great news.

my period hasn’t finished yet from the failed cycle. I’ve been either spotting or bleeding the past 13 days! It’s dark though, just old blood now. Hoping it stops soon. We have our review on Monday.

mrsmw132 · 03/03/2023 11:01

Just a wee update.

We are now 7+1 with our rainbow baby.

I'm terrified every day, and hoping for a smooth ride.
Nausea and exhaustion are my main personality traits just now.

My fingers are crossed 🤞 for all your babies to come ❤️

OP posts:
Lauralozzle · 03/03/2023 11:08

@mrsmw132 Thats great. Hopefully the nausea eases off after 12 weeks.

We had our review. Lots of things to try next time. We’re looking May/June time for another cycle.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2023 11:54

@mrsmw132 Great update :) Take everything one day at a time. x

@Lauralozzle That's exciting! I'm glad you've got a date to look forward to now :)

I'm finally 1dpo as I had Strep A last week and my body seemed to want to wait until that was over before letting the eggy go.
