Starting IVF December 2022- looking for a tribe!

Hello fellow IVF buddies (hopefully),

My wife and I will be starting our first round of IVF in December/ January. I will be carrying.

We lost a baby this time last year with a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. So this is a charged time of year for us.
We are excited and nervous.

We have had our initial consultation- AMH and egg reserve looked good.

We have our nurses appointment this week.

I am always terrified of being weighed- I’m always sitting in the 29 category- I would love to be lower but struggle with weight loss.
How many times and when were you weighed during your cycles?

Looking for others who are going through IVF at this time to swap anxieties and stories with a keep each other going.

I confide in my wife also, but sometimes it’s nice to talk to the stranger friends you make here to keep you going!!

@mrsmw132 thats a great number to fertilise, I had 14 follicles and lost half straight away as only 7 fertilised. Good luck x

Egg collection confirmed for Monday after todays final scan.

Injections as normal tonight, tomorrow buserelin injection as normal and then trigger tomorrow at 9:45 pm for egg collection Monday.

Good luck tomorrow @Lauralozzle !!

We got a call from the embryology team this morning. Of the 8 fertilised all 8 made it to day 3 and are going really strong. He is confident in them!

Our transfer will be Tuesday!

@mrsmw132 They got 8 eggs from my left ovary!

It was okay, don’t really remember much of it! Hopefully they fertilise!

I’ve been asleep most of the afternoon.

Out of the 8 eggs, 6 were mature, but only two fertilised. I won’t know if there’s anything to transfer until Saturday.

Still waiting for the clinic to call me to arrange an appointment with the doctor to discuss next steps. Im loosing faith in this clinic by the day! Communication is shocking.

Can I ask a question? I'm on the waiting list for IVF (had 6 miscarriages and 1 ectopic 🥲 within 6 years) my doctor told me I am entitled to 3 rounds on the NHS. If I have for example 5 eggs that get fertilised and I freeze 4 , and my 1st cycle doesn't work out do I use all the other 4 eggs before I go onto a 2nd round of ivf? Sorry if that's confusing! I should have asked my doctor but I was overwhelmed with the info at the time!

I had this question too. The information that I could find was....
One cycle is stims, egg collection, fresh embryo transfer (if appropriate) and the use of any viable frozen.
I think we are entitled to 2 or 3 rounds. But so far round one has one in the oven (PUPO) and 7in the freezer.

Do you w when you are due to start your treatment?

We were put on the wait list after 6 iui. It was a seven month wait list. The appointment lady and I became besties, I phoned her so many times to check the position on the list.
We had our first consultation in Nov for transfer in Jan.
I am 36 (just) and my eggs have done well so far. We had a miscarriage Dec 21.
I'm hoping your list goes quickly. The wait is the worst.
But once you get started, it's rushed by x

So because of my OHSS the doctor has recommended I take the rest of the week off. I am so pleased because today I did nothing but sleep. I think that this treatment cycle has finally caught up with me.
Keep my little embryo warm and safe and hoping that is enough ❤️

I’m okay. Still in limbo land, transfer booked for tomorrow at 10:20. We’ll find out if we have anything to transfer Saturday morning. I’m hopeful one made it, but trying to prepare myself for the fact that they both might not have.

I’m trying to think ahead, so, the fertilisation rate was poor with ICSI at 33%. I think if nothing does make it, even with OHs ok SA we need to maybe look into DNA frag test etc. Hopefully it won’t come to that, and the news tomorrow morning will be good. I’m willing those two little embryos to make it! Hopefully they’re tough little things!

I'm also considering the genetic testing on round 2 but I'm.not sure how much it is as it won't be included in our funding. We have an appt 23rd Feb to discuss using our frostie and 2nd cycle. I've so many questions aboutwhat could be done next time to improve egg collection xxx

I'll be so hopeful tomorrow that you have me embaby there to greet you. I was so frustrated on the morning of transfer because I thought someone phoned before so that you knew everything was ok. But they didn't. So anxious wait till we were in the transfer suite before there was an embryo update.
We are 3dp5dt today.

I don't know much about this. So I will be interested to see what your clinic say. We are using donor sperm so literally know nothing about it.
