Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@Hyppyb Just returned to work after the scan, currently measuring at 8.55mm at 12 days. She said this was great as they look for anything over 7mm. Can you remember what yours was at 10/14 days? I never normally have an issue with the lining thickness but you never know what each scan/attempt will bring so when I thought I wouldn't be nervous I was wrong, I was shaking and a little teary on the drive down.
They will call me later today with a day to start the Cyclogest and Lubion and also advise the transfer date.
My clinic didn't book me in until 8 weeks 1 day for a scan, I thought that was late compared to others that do a 6 weeks scan. Saying that I'm now glad they did as if I had went for the 6 week scan everything might have shown normal as the baby didn't stop growing until 7 weeks 3 days so I might not have been none the wiser until far later down the line.
How are you feeling this morning, still in a little bubble I bet :) I'm glad they will be keeping a close eye on you, that might ease your worry a little.

Hyppyb · 06/07/2023 11:13

@SH998 im happy to hear your scan went well. ☺️ I can understand feeling anxious about the whole thing as you never know what they may see or say. But you have some really good lining thickness there. Day 10 mine was 6.7mm and day 13 was 8.8mm. So yours is really good. It will get thicker until you take the progesterone which stops it getting thicker and creates a receptive environment for baby. My womb lining thickened 0.75mm a day! Bet yours is a thicker rate. One woman on YouTube had a lining that was 12mm on day 12 and she got pregnant that time. Great so you will find out your transfer date soon then.

I feel less in denial, I feel like yes I’m pregnant but being pregnant doesn’t mean a baby at the end of it, so it’s getting through things step by step. Talking of which I have my appointment with the EPU on the 18th July, 5 and a half weeks I will be, they said we like to look at 6 weeks but when I said the ectopic ic pain started at 5 weeks she changed it, she said call us if you start getting any pain. I know exactly what the etopic pain vs just a bit of aches and pain so that’s something. Plus during the pain all of a sudden there was a surge of blood down there. I guess each ectopic experience could be different. I’m just treading on egg shells mentally for the next few weeks scared of at any moment pain could start. That’s trauma for you.

So maybe next Thursday your transfer…

SH998 · 06/07/2023 17:51

@Hyppyb The clinic called, my transfer is booked for next Thursday. I start the cyclogest and lubion injections Saturday. I’m to continue taking the progynova up until transfer. Is this normal? I can’t remember on my last FET.

Hyppyb · 06/07/2023 19:11

@SH998 That's exactly how my clinic is, you start the cyclogest for 5 days and on the 6th day is your transfer, day 19 like myself. Progynova as in the eostrogen pills? Yes with a frozen transfer you have to take eostrogen pills from day 2 of your cycle all the way to 8 to 12 weeks of a pregnancy until the placenta takes over.

Fresh transfer you dont take eostrogen pills as your body has enough eostrogen from all your stimulated eggs. I'm taking 6mg a day still. Lubion they were talking about me having it and then I didn't, that's the progesterone in injection form, that should put you at ease knowing you have loads of progesterone in you.

Sounds like everything is going well. 😊 remember they wouldn't allow you to go forward with a FET this cycle if they didn't believe your body was receptive. When I was going through it I had all this faith in my body but I was more like come on embryo be normal and healthy as that's the one thing we don't know at the time.

Today I've been pretty tired and had a lot of wind in the same area under my ribs top of my tummy. I caught myself moaning from the discomfort luckily I'm working from home today. 😂 got to control that in the office. I read that's the progesterone creating wind. Then twinges in my hips hopefully it's just the meds.

Hyppyb · 06/07/2023 19:14

@SH998 wait a sec you said the clinic said take the eostrogen up until transfer? Then the clinic said you would stop on transfer day? No my clinic has told me to take until a negative or 8 to 12 weeks if pregnant.

OP posts:
SH998 · 06/07/2023 20:01

@Hyppyb no they said take it until I’m sure they said the 10th week of pregnancy but I’m not looking that far ahead. I really couldn’t remember if I done that the last FET so I thought maybe I’d heard wrong. I wrote it down as soon as I was off the phone but always good to double check lol
They haven’t said a time but they will call Thursday morning to tell me how the thawing went (they said they will use the others should one fail) then advise a time, it’s normally afternoon so looking at at 1ish. On both fresh it was an early morning appointment, I don’t like these late afternoon ones.
I felt my body was ready on both fresh so was confident going in, the last FET I just knew it wasn’t right as i was convinced my period was trying to come as I was spotting already (I sometimes spot for up to a week before my period). The last FET I bleed from the day of the procedure until period. It wasn’t heavy, nowhere near as I have light periods anyway but I just knew it hadn’t worked. Hopefully the experience will be better this time.
The week leading up to transfer, did you do anything different this time around, drank extra water/ate something differently etc? I’m clutching at straws now hoping these minor things will help.
Wind I’ve read is a sign of pregnancy, how amazing is it now to be talking about ‘the actual pregnancy’ rather than the what if. The 18th July be here before you know it :)

Hyppyb · 06/07/2023 20:45

@SH998 Well that's good they've said to take the eostrogen until 10 weeks. My clinic they give you a time one or two days prior. On the day you come in, they don't usually call ahead of time on the day about the embryo. My consent forms says about them thawing another embryo if the prior one fails. Yeah most times my transfers are mid day. This time it was 10.45am.

Sounds like the spotting is a part of your period, like the start of it. A couple times I've had spotting a day before. Once for 2 days before. Have they said why you bleed after the transfer? Is it the speculum or the catheter? Both FETs near my period my body was busting with needing to start my period like tension.

I've been a lot healthier the month leading to my transfer, just eating what is good for pregnancy like oats, veg, nuts, 100% juice no added sugar. I didn't drink more water or anything. I did watch a video that said not to drastically change your diet near your transfer. I agree. You don't want your body focusing on new food rather than the embryo. I've attached a snippet of a instruction list my clinic gave me post transfer. I think womb and body wise your fine and receptive to a pregnancy. It's putting faith that your embryo is not abnormal as that's the main reason it wouldn't survive implantation. Before you know it you will have had your transfer.

Yeah feels strange. I'm still in some denial but I know it will sink in when or if they say everything's fine. My clinic's meant to call in the next few days to ask about the test. I definitely feel like it's a second pregnancy not a first one, my first loss is still very much in my heart. I feel very different to last time. Just more guarded I guess. Believe me i am happy that it's happened again, just my mind and heart protecting itself.

What IVF dose and how many eggs did you get?
OP posts:
SH998 · 07/07/2023 06:14

@Hyppyb ive spoken to them many times about the spotting as this could play a part in why I cant naturally conceive but they have never seen it as an issue. I can spot every day in the 7 days in the lead up to my period, not really enough to use anything but enough to notice then the day my period is due or sometimes day before I bleed and within that day it stops and that’s the end of my monthly cycle. The consultant told me there’s nothing to worry about as I wouldn’t be producing the eggs I do if there was an issue but this is why I’m adamant it’s more to do with me than the quality of the eggs. I’ve had all my hormones etc checked and all ok. Years ago I had hugely increased prolactin which affected my periods but I’m on medication for this now and all is showing fine now.
On the last FET I don’t think anything was disturbed to cause the bleeding I just think it was a sign of my period. I haven’t bleed much at all on either collection or transfer apart from that one so that’s why I’m putting that down to period related issues hence why it didn’t work. I hope this time isn’t the same.
Like you I’ll be far more cautious about any future pregnancy, a loss is difficult as it is but an IVF loss I feel is much harder as youve fought tooth and nail to get that far.

Hyppyb · 07/07/2023 09:30

@SH998 Sometimes there can be nothing physically or even mentally wrong and a person doesn’t get pregnant naturally. I know people in my day to day life it took them 3, 7 and even 10 years to naturally get pregnant. So there easily may be nothing wrong with your body. It’s a case that the people I know had time on their side so could keep trying as opposed to try IVF get pregnant that way and write themselves off as naturally infertile which would be incorrect.

I have fibroids, didn’t know until I went for my fertility MOT. It explained my heavy periods in my mid 30s. There’s like at least 6. The ivf doctor made it into such a big deal. I had to wait 6 months until I saw the NHS hospital they put a camera inside, a Hysteroscopy, was like it’s so not a big deal, women get pregnant with them all the time as long as they’re not obstructing your tubes. There was one inside my womb very tiny, so I was worrying myself what if a embryo tries to implant on it and that cause it to fail as it was not receptive womb lining. Then the clinic made me do a Hycosy where they see if liquid could get to my ovaries, as I was doing IUI that was fine. So sometimes what we think is a big deal isn’t.

As you say you are ovulating, producing a decent amount of eggs, your hormone levers are good, no clotting issues, your womb lining is amazing, I mean vaginal bleeding is often from the womb and it’s not affecting your lining. You have been pregnant before so your body is capable. One doctor on YouTube said getting naturally pregnant is like the mechanics of a watch, so many pieces to it and had to be at the precise right time. Start taking your progesterone tomorrow that’s good.

i was looking at my strips, day 4DPT the lines were really light but visible and the day 5DPT it was darker, but I was in denial and didn’t want to say yes for sure, so at least your pregnancy testing will be clearer for you. When will you start testing? I would say 5DPT is the absolute earliest you could see something.

SH998 · 07/07/2023 15:44

@Hyppyb I do feel that unexplained infertility is the worse you can have, constantly being told that everything’s looking great and is exactly how it should be when there is clearly an underlying issue somewhere which can’t be found or potentially fixed.
We will see how this cycle goes with the changes that have been made and maybe look into changing it again next time around.
Im aware it’s trial and error and every attempt/person is different but that doesn’t make me feel any better when my 40th birthday is less than 2 months away!
Oh knowing me … I’ll probably be testing by the second day lol 😂. The first and only positive I held off until day 7, not for a second thinking I’d see anything. The other times I think I started testing at day 4 maybe even 3, I just can’t control myself.
Ill try to hold out until at least day 7 but then I think if it’s failed I’d rather know sooner rather than later so I can start to deal with the upset again and move on.
How are you feeling?

Hyppyb · 07/07/2023 18:51

@SH998 I can understand that unexplained fertility is annoying and frustrating. If they could say this one specific this is wrong then they can fix it. Did the IVF clinic take a explorative look at your womb like hysteroscopy and hycosy. Like the hycosy they push water through your cervix to your ovaries they see on a screen if water can't get there ie an obstruction the sperm can't get there. Often then just can't find anything that's pretty normal for them and IVF does the hard part of conception.

They made me do all that for the IUIs. My first attempt at pregnancy ever was the IUIs, so never tried to get pregnant naturally. They say 3 to 6 trys is best with IUIs. The women I watched online got pregnant on their 3rd try they were 39. I was so disappointed. I did 4 tries.

Hopefully this attempt will be it for you. I hope the embryo is all good. My last egg collection and pregnancy was 2 months before my 40th so hope that coincidence gives you good luck.

The pregnancy symptoms are really kicking in. The wind in the top of my stomach is a lot, lot of discomfort. I'm relieved it's position is so high as my ectopic what was mimicking wind pain was really ectopic pain but it was much lower down in my hip and lower womb. Last few days been very tired. I fell asleep on Saturday and again today during the day. Tired during the days. So hoping that's all the symptoms I have until my hospital app.

I saw ultrasounds at 5 weeks online so hoping the transvaginal scan picks up my pregnancy that early. If I get the same nhs doc as last time she was very thorough with scanning. The sac would be 6mm so that's not microscopic. Hope my fibroids don't block anything.

OP posts:
SH998 · 09/07/2023 07:04

@Hyppyb Thats my thinking, if they could pinpoint an issue then it might be resolved but when everything is showing OK where do you start. I’ve had the HyCosy, all was fine with that. I was offered the hysterscopy in February after the third fail but the waiting list was 6/7 months and they wouldn’t proceed with treatment until tests had been undertaken so I declined. If we go private then this is something I’ll probably need to pay for although I’ve read it’s now quite expensive.
I’ve had pretty much every investigation I can that is offered via the NHS I think.
I’ve purchased an online progesterone test which I’ll do tomorrow, my hospital don’t do bloods for these so thought I’d check myself. I think it needs to be over 30 or so I’ve read.
This weekend I’ve added the Lubion and suppositories into the plan, feeling ok, had some stomach cramps yesterday for an hour but nothing untoward.

Great to see the symptoms are kicking in, I was stupidly tired on mine, I was spending my 30 minute lunch break sleeping in the car most days lol 😂 thankfully nobody seen. Has it now started to kick in that your pregnant?

Hyppyb · 09/07/2023 10:57

@SH998 I would say if you go private later, they won’t force you to do anything but they do put a lot of pressure on you, although it depends on the clinic. Like after my first Fertility MOT i was pressured to have the Hysteroscopy, they told me to have it with the nhs and that was 6 months waiting. So annoying! The idea was in the clinic’s transvaginal scans they could see something inside my womb, they knew it was a fibroid but they couldn’t tell from their scans if it was blocking the Fallopian tubes. Maybe if I jumped to ivf first where Fallopian tubes aren’t important they wouldn’t have encouraged me so much to have the Hysteroscopy. I feel the clinic would only ask you to do one if they believed there was something with your womb lining they want to visually see. I doubt it as your body has achieved a pregnancy.

Thats good you’ve started the progesterone. The cramping must be the Lubion. Does it mention those side effects in the instructions? Good it’s not severe. Is the progesterone test a finger prick test or urine test? Hope it’s the right level. I can’t imagine it not being as you are on 2 progesterone meds. Do you eat chips after your transfers? You know the famous have McDonald fries after a FET? I’ve never done it but I do have chips that day, I did last FET. Just something funny to do after, part of the IVF community, like a good luck thing.

Yeah it has. I am going to keep testing, todays is darker, I’m 11dpt, that’s a good thing as I’m mindful of it fading, chemical pregnancies. I will continue to test, the only test that can give you an idea of your HCG count is the Clearblue weeks indicator. For eg 1-2 weeks is 10 to 152hcg. Next time mine should be over that.

I’m still having bad trapped gas near my chest top of my stomach, have to catch my breath, it’s quite loud as it moves. I’m in the office tomorrow so I need to control myself not groaning, 😂 I have had wind feeling in my left hip, not severe but it’s where my ectopic was which has makes me a little worried, as last time it was like bad trapped wind there and it turned out to be ectopic. It doesn’t feel exactly the same, last time was like someone pinching between your tummy and thigh which is how trapped wind was for me as a child. This time it’s no where near that intense. But it’s so early.

Saying that the positives are my ectopic symptoms started later, 5 weeks, not 4 weeks last time, I have felt a little of the same feeling in my right side so could just be wind. I’m clearly full of gas. In my failed FETs I’ve had the hormones cause twinges in my hips, so could be that. Have to wait and see but I don’t feel like it’s 100% I’m going to stay pregnant, or 100% not it really is a wait and see.

@Hyppyb you can see a progression line on the above tests so that's a great sign :) It wouldn't be long and your scan date will be here, hopefully that will put your mind at ease a little and you can start to enjoy.
Did you go ahead with the hysteroscopy via the NHS? If so, how long was the actual wait. As I'm unexplained I would probably have additional tests that they push for, we have tried naturally for 7 years so it will never happen alone, any test, regardless of the price would be a help.
I've been fine since that first injection of Lubion so maybe as it was new to my body it was reacting in a certain way. I've read the side effects and that wasn't mentioned but I'm not too bothered by it. Done my finger prick for the progesterone this morning, that was a fun experience! How they expect you to get any blood in that tube is beyond me. I've sent it away but they wouldn't be able to test on the small amount provided, I even jabbed 3 fingers and still not much lol. Yes I've heard about the McDonalds fries, I didn't do this last time so its a must this time :)
How are you feeling today? I hope you manage to control the wind being back in ten office lol :)

SH998 · 10/07/2023 10:09

@Hyppyb these injections are far more painful than the stims, not quite sure why as they are the same size and I couldn't feel them going in but afterwards the area is really sore. I can only assume its the contents rather than the injection itself.

Hyppyb · 10/07/2023 15:09

@SH998 yes, over covid I had a Hysteroscopy with the NHS waited 6 months, they did it without the speculum, I think I waited that long because of covid. If you go private it’s £2k that’s what my clinic charges. There are conditions where the womb lining isn’t ok, due to disease, infection or a condition that’s best seen via a Hysteroscopy but I doubt this is the case with you. The clinic would have said something if they believed it to be the case and once you achieved a pregnancy that would make it unlikely.

A colleague couldn’t conceive for 7 years, moved home, did all sorts to get pregnant, but then a hypnotherapist was at her workplace, she saw him and got pregnant straight away. She believes it was to do with her father dying like repressed. But then I know many people who naturally get pregnant after many years. I get why you are going this route I’d be the same for sure.

I suck at finger pricks. I won’t be doing it for the at home gender reveal test. Regarding the Lubion the only thing that got me though ivf injections were the numbing creams. Definitely buy them. Don’t need to get actual McDonald’s one, could just have oven chips that’s what I did. Only a few more days for your transfer.

Im ok. The wind was ok today, it felt like it was going to bust through my ribs at the weekend. The small ache in my left hip is kind of concerning me but I feel like it really could be wind. I rubbed near it and could hear wind after. Last time I guessed the shooting pains were wind, it wasn’t, this time I know my torso has a lot of wind for sure as I can actually hear it, so I am being balanced, just obviously don’t want to go through 4 months of being ill again, then trying again end of the year. I’m only 4 weeks 4 days but this pregnancy is different so far like I feel like I’m have pregnancy symptoms, tired, gas, last time I only had the what I thought was gas but wasn’t even though my HCG back then was 7900.

So found out my clinic the 6 week viability scan is 2 to over 3 weeks and they barely have appointments. I’m going when I’m 6 weeks and 7 days…part of me is like hello I’m at risk of ectopic pregnancies, obviously I have the nhs but then a later appointment is better because of my fibroids, baby will be bigger so better view. By then I’m hoping I will know more with the nhs.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 10/07/2023 15:34

*6 weeks and 6 days for my clinics viability scan. I guess the idea with clinics is if there’s something wrong there will be symptoms and the person can deal with them as is. I guess the average person doesn’t see their baby until 12 weeks. So the healthcare system is very nonchalant about early pregnancy. In my head I’m like wow imagine if I don’t have the bad symptoms or bleeding the next few weeks that would be good.

@Hyppyb thank you for the above your always so helpful :). Lets hope it wouldn't come to that. However, I feel if I've gone through 2 collections and 6 transfers (that's what it will be once all embryos from this cycle are done) then I either give up or throw everything at it and have every test they can offer me. That is still a way off so ill decide which route to take nearer the time.
How are you feeling today? Anymore symptoms?

Hyppyb · 11/07/2023 12:49

@SH998 the psychological aspect of trying to conceive is tricky like we both know we want to have a baby end of but you hear about people saying stress and emotional mentality can contribute to not conceiving. So it's important that you 100% believe this next FET will be your baby but also being like well if it fails you have two other embryos so it's not all or nothing. Kind of a laid back approach.

Even if you did have to go private remember there is Finance where you can pay it off in a year interest free or longer over years with interest. So I know its hard but definitely try to be as relaxed as you can. You said you want to try everything and being all nonchalant to the best of your ability is one of those things. Just take the positives as you get them, like you have a lovely thick lining, your on loads of progesterone and you have your embryo transfer in a couple days. No reason it can't be this embryo, it only takes one, B grade is 50/50. 50 Women in a room of 100 will get pregnant. Could be you.

I'm OK. I ran out of strip tests, got more but it was the wrong one, this new strip the pregnancy line is very faint like the test doesn't transfer a lot of dye only until 3000hcg will it be 2 strong lines whilst the prior test I had got to 11dpt with 2 kind of strong lines. Was looking for a dye stealer. That won't happen now. As long as the test gets darker it should be OK.

I'm still full of gas in my chest or rib area. I still have light aches every now and then in my left hip, but have felt something in my right one. Stitch pain from gas is possible. As I said I never had real gas in my last pregnancy maybe because the placenta was in the wrong place. So might be a good sign this time. 7 days until my nhs appointment.

But yeah really hoping your FET goes well. Would be lovely if it happened now.

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 11/07/2023 14:03

Also those 50 women out if 100, majority of them will be women like you who haven't conceived naturally for years with a partner now having IVF. Only a minority will be women like myself, single or lesbian or a surrogate. So we are going to think positive. 😊

OP posts:
Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 06:28

Update - I think I'm having a chemical pregnancy or ectopic. I switched to the other hcg pregnancy strips that are lighter than the prior strips, so I thought as long as the strips gets slightly dark every couple days its fine, it's fine, so today to me it's looks lighter. So I took another Clearblue and it came up 1 to 2 weeks from conception, so I'm 152 hcg or under still, I should be over that by now if I'm doubling every 2 days.

I looked online and a woman had the same results and she was told it was either a chemical or ectopic pregnancy, she lost her pregnancy. So nothing much I can do. I've ordered the old tests strips see how they tests won't get them for a couple days now.

I'm trying to stay realistic about everything.

OP posts:
SH998 · 12/07/2023 10:04

@Hyppyb Nooo! Don't say this. When should the test say 2-3 weeks, what day are you now? I've checked back on my notes and I was showing 2-3 weeks on the Clearblue 14 days after the transfer date so was 19dp5dt . Maybe your not quite there yet? Are the feelings similar to your last ectopic? Your scan is next Tuesday isn't it? Can you get in any sooner or do you have to be so far along so they have something to look at?

Hyppyb · 12/07/2023 10:38

@SH998 I'm 19dpt today. Clearblue said 1 to 2 weeks today. I've worked out if my first positive was 5dpt ( not sure as the trigger) so a minimum of 10 hcg if you double every 2 days it should be a minimum of 240hcg. If the first positive was 7dpt when I tested my clearblue originally it would be 120hcg minimum now that's best case scenario.

The problem is the test strips aren't getting darker over a day and a half. They are new strips not the same brand as old strips different material but they should darken.

Early pregnancy there's nothing you can do. Especially if your not in pain even then they can't save the pregnancy.

My symptoms are as I said before I'm having pregnancy symptoms like gas and tired and light ache in my side. But only like 3 mins a day. Last time it was 5 weeks when I started having signs of an ectopic. Moderate pain in my side and then bleeding.

I've ordered the old strips. Maybe hcg isn't doubling but it can be 75% every 2 to 3 days that's ok. But it's not looking great. I don't think its chemical because you don't have pregnancy symptoms usually.

OP posts:
SH998 · 12/07/2023 13:38

@Hyppyb I don't know a lot about chemical pregnancies so ill be no help on that front. So your test should show 2-3 weeks as you would be 3 weeks today? I know they add a few weeks etc but on the pregnancy test it indicates the actual weeks doesn't it? Could you try another Clearblue in case there was an issue with the one you used.
As for the other strips, any chance you can order next day delivery?
As its still early I get there's nothing they can do or maybe not even see at this point, this doesn't help you though :(
Is there an at home HCG test you can carry out?
