What IVF dose and how many eggs did you get?

Hey,

It's my second cycle if ivf, I'm on Bemfola 225 iu and it's day 4 of my cycle. Last time I was on Gonal F 150iu. Was wondering if it will produce more eggs now.

Just wanted to ask anyones dosage, the name of their ivf medication and the egg result, home many were retrieved?

@hopefulivfer I would say try not to worry. Last time I was on 150 Gonal F and it produced 6 eggs too, but only 4 were collected because I have a fibroid blocking one ovary. I'm 39 and and have a amh of 14.7. You have a good amh for your age. The clinic I'm with won't take women under 10 amh. Low doses seem to produce not many eggs but the intention is to produce good quality eggs. Fingers crossed for you.

Just had my egg collection and it was such a better experience than the one in July. So this time they could access both ovaries. They got 8 follicles I'm guessing the rest were too small. Last time I had to have a frozen transfer because the remaining eggs caused my womb to have too much hormones, was put on cetrotide for an extra 5 days to disperse them, had very bad bloating pain, this time I can have a fresh transfer if the eggs make it to 3 or 5 day. Even had the embryologist talk to me just after, last time it was over the phone. So looking like Monday.

@Hyppyb thats brilliant news, you must be over the moon, I hope the next 3/5 days fly by for you. That additional few days wait is a killer but will be worth it in the end x

@Hyppyb meds given and scan booked for 22nd Nov, providing lining is where it should be then they will schedule the transfer for 28/29th Nov 🤞🏼

I’m worried now. I’m on 75 menopur and 75 Gonal f. That feels really low in comparison to all of yours?

The intention this time (4th round) is as many eggs as possible so I’m confused as to why the doses aren’t higher than the last rounds.

@SH998 Are you on estradiol (eostrogen) and vaginal capsules (progesterone)? My first FET scan on day 7 I think the lining was 7 then my next one was 10. Some places are OK with 7 others want it higher but you've got time.

I'm a little achey in my hips I guess where the ovaries are, working from home but in the office tomorrow. The embryologist called at 9am said 6 out of 8 embryos were fertilised so Saturday will hear more. I find everyone a lot more positive than last time like she actually said "good news".

@ChChange I guess the hope is that the docs know what they're doing. My last cycle I was on 150 gonal f the equivalent of your dosage and there were 6 eggs only 4 retrieved because of a fibroid. I said this to the doc and he said next time I should have a higher dosage to get 6 to 7 eggs and got 8. If you've had prior rounds they should have a good idea what dose will produce more eggs you want.

Have you had your first scan yet to see how the eggs are doing?

Yes that’s true, I suppose they know what they’re aiming for. I’ve had this exact dose before and got 12eggs. I feel extra stressed about all of the decisions this round as it’s the last one in our package. It feels like a lot of pressure and I don’t want to get to the end and think “what if we’d done it differently.”

Haven’t started stims yet, only just had the consultation to talk through the protocol. So still early days.

@ChChange 12 eggs in the past is good. You could say the consultant can you go on an higher dose. I was on 225iu this time and there were 15 eggs but 8 retrieved. Cycle before I was on 150 gonal f and got less I asked the question and he changed it. If you start off high they're meant decrease your dosage if they think it's not progressing as it should from the scans.

Thanks. Last I had one day 3 perfect looking embryo transfered this time they won't freeze on day 3 so it's all down to day 5.

Just an update. The embryologist called this morning about the 6 embryos, 5 are grade 1 and 1 is grade 2. After my last experience where I had 4 embryos with every grade you can imagine, only 1 being grade 1 its a pleasant surprise. 5 day embryo transfer is 2pm Monday.

Yes on both estrogen until scan day then add the progesterones. Only day 3 of the 2 tabs and feeling ok, still early days though x

@ChChange they might not want to increase the dosage as your last attempt of 12 was really good, maybe they are afraid increasing it will cause you to overstimulate. If you are concerned with the low dosage could you ask them about increasing and see what they say? No harm in asking :) x

@SH998 I'm sure you will be fine on the hormones. For me I was fine up until my period was delayed by several days then it was like my body was off chemically causing all this tension and build up, foggy, flustered it was only until my period started that I could feel myself turning back to normal. Wonder if the menopause is like that for some. Would have been nice if the clinic gave me some of the symptoms prior. 2mg 3 times a day of Estradiol. I'm on vaginal pessaries for the fresh transfer only.

I will freeze my remaining embryos if they are OK. For many reasons like if i don't get pregnant, I do possibly something happens, also I don't have kids, I'm 39 single, I want only one but I don't know how I will feel having a baby I might want more.

@ChChange I would definitely ask the question about a higher dose. I was on 150iu last time 4 embryos only 1 good embryo from it that didnt implant so in the follow up i said i want a higher dose, he said that would result in more eggs, this time i got double the embryos 8, 6 all good grades. Plus all were bigger sooner resulting in a collection 2 days earlier. The nurse overseeing it said my embryos had taken much better to the higher dose. Of course there may be reasons why they don't want you to increase the dose everyone being different but they should explain it.

Another update

I had my fresh 5 day embryo transfer today. The embryologist said its a 4BB. I read that means expanded blastocyst and good. Two embryos were frozen today, the other 3 they will culture until tomorrow so see how they are. So now for the 11 day wait.

Thanks @hopefulivfer . When I work it out I've done 10 weeks worth of the tww in the space of a year from 4 IUIs and 1 3 day ivf. The first time I was all delicate and careful, analysing every symptom and now its so different. 😊 I read its a 50% chance of pregnancy this time which is the highest I've encountered.
