@Lialii I feel like the tests have changed themselves. They definitely don't seem the same now as when I was using them in 2020.

bunnykins123 · 21/11/2022 12:29

@MrsCristianoX basd FRERs 😂 @TheBirdintheCaveyoure @Lialii absolutely right, I never used to get ghost lines. They must have made them even more sensitive. With my mmc it detected down to 6 so they were sensitive even before they tweaked them!

bunnykins123 · 21/11/2022 12:30

@MrsCristianoX lol my profanity at FRER had removed a couple of *'s so it now looks like I was saying 'based FRER' - doesn't quite have the same impact!

MrsCristianoX · 21/11/2022 12:37

@bunnykins123 😂😂 I just don't like them at all. I'll nearly go out of my way not to use one. You just end up staring at a random line or 3 now (I left it sitting and another line appeared from nowhere) it's heading for the bin now😆

Matildahoney · 21/11/2022 13:20

Hi all, new to this thread, had an MC in September. Do you all abstain from alcohol, caffeine, uncooked meats etc as if you were pregnant when TTC and you're post ovulation so potentially pregnant?

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2022 14:07

@Matildahoney Hi Matilda :) Nah I never bothered doing any of that. It's not going to cause any harm as the embryo gets all of its nutrients from the yolk sac at the start. Transfer between the mother and baby only happens once the placenta is formed.

I drank quite a bit in the week before I found out I was pregnant with my son 😅 He was born fine with no issues.

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2022 14:09

@MrsCristianoX The speed it takes for the line to develop is a lot slower too I've noticed. With my son the line started to appear before the dye had even completely moved through the window. With this one, even though the lines ended up the same level of darkness, it took about 30 seconds to even start to show up.

MrsCristianoX · 21/11/2022 14:17

@Matildahoney hi and welcome..to the group no one wants to join but we are here if you need support. I echo @TheBirdintheCave response I tend to go off stuff anyway in the second week but don't limit myself xx

@TheBirdintheCave I know! My test line was visible before the control line with my last successful pregnancy. I did another of those wee cheapie one steps as well today and there was absolutely nothing so just waiting for AF now xx congratulations again lovely 🥰

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2022 14:26

@MrsCristianoX Thankies :) I really hope it's your turn next month! <3

Matildahoney · 21/11/2022 14:40

@TheBirdintheCave @MrsCristianoX thanks for your replies, you did make me laugh with the group no one wants to join line! It's true though, I'm itching to test,af is due weds. I'm pretty apprehensive, my dp keeps telling me I have nothing to be apprehensive about!! Easy for him to say! Men just don't seem to get it! He was so supportive after the MC, but now it's as if it didn't happen almost!

MrsCristianoX · 21/11/2022 14:56

@Matildahoney ah I know. My DH was so supportive at the time. Every scan every test he was with me and looked nearly put out when one midwife asked him to wait outside one time. But now sometimes I still get upset and I can see him looking at me like why? It doesn't leave you. So much luck for testing..there's been a lot of positive stories on this thread...good luck for testing ❤️

bunnykins123 · 21/11/2022 14:56

@Matildahoney welcome to the group, I'm sorry for your loss. I personally haven't no. With DD, we were in holiday and I ate / drank like a fish. She's absolutely fine! That being said, I'm older now and probably she be a bit more proactive in cutting down alcohol (I enjoy alcohol but im not a crazy boozer of anything 😂). I also needs lots of caffeine to function!

@MrsCristianoX @TheBirdintheCave what have they done to them?! Pah. Defo not my 'go to' test anymore. Which brand is reliable now?!

TheBirdintheCave · 21/11/2022 15:41

@bunnykins123 Easy@Home have never let me down. There are extremely faint evaps sometimes but you can tell what's a real line and what isn't.

RainbowSearching · 21/11/2022 17:37

Does anyone have any experience of being prescribed progesterone?

I had my 6 week reassurance scan today and asked about them due to previous MMC’s. The consultant said she would prescribe if I wanted them, however it’s not something they generally do. She mentioned studies which show they “might” have a long term effect on baby boys. So now I have a prescription, but don’t know if I should use it?!

Lialii · 21/11/2022 17:49

@Matildahoney I do not change anything about my diet before a positive test. I figure it could be a very long time to get pregnant again, on top of the 9 months of pregnancy. TTC is hard enough already. 😒

But I hardly ever drink alcohol anyway - if I did, I would probably limit myself to a glass of wine with dinner.

FfayeN · 21/11/2022 18:06

@RainbowSearching I have been taking it lovely. I didn't know about the potential for long term effects, but if it will save the pregnancy then I wouldn't worry that far down the road. Have you had a history of bleeding? They tend to reserve it for those that have, mine was prescribed due to numerous miscarriages of 'unknown' reason. xx

Sorry for the late replies! Just catching up now ♥️

@Matildahoney my partner has been so sweet but I get exactly what you mean about them not getting it. I think he feels like we grieved at the time I actually mc’d, but now that there’s been some time he doesn’t get it’s still very real for me. I think when it’s your own body there’s so many reminders and markers which can be triggering aren’t there!

with abstaining from stuff in tww, ive felt conflicted. I’ve tried it and not bothered and neither have made a difference so far 😂 the first two times I got pregnant I was definitely drinking though!

Sorry if I’ve missed any other bits off everyone ♥️

RainbowSearching · 21/11/2022 18:50

@FfayeN How long are you going to be taking them for?

History wise -

Miscarriage 1 the bleeding started a day before I was 6 weeks. Subsequently turned out I was already testing negative.

Miscarriage 2 I had a private scan at a
little over 7 weeks, but measured 6 weeks. A heartbeat was seen. Repeated that private scan about a week and a half later and there was no heartbeat and measuring even smaller. I hadn’t had any bleeding and took the medical management route.

Miscarriage 3 I had a NHS reassurance scan at just over 9 weeks. I was measuring 6 weeks and no heartbeat. Literally the evening before the scan I had pink when wiping. When waiting for the 2nd scan to confirm things, the miscarriage happened naturally.

ChloeN · 21/11/2022 18:57

@RainbowSearching I’ve thought about asking for progesterone too as I sometimes spot before periods, but I guessed a mmc isn’t a low progesterone issue but more the opposite as your body doesn’t want to let go?? No idea if that’s true but not sure whether I should be asking for progesterone!
anyone got any advice lol🤣

FfayeN · 21/11/2022 19:15

@RainbowSearching I should have had them upto 16 weeks, but found out today this pregnancy had stopped progressing a few days ago (I am meant to be 9w2d).

Based on your history (and @Indianna2006 is more in the know than me on this) but it doesn't sound like a progesterone issue, however, if there was even a small chance it would help I would start taking it asap 😘 xxx

@FfayeN oh no I was thinking you must be due your scan soon😔 so sorry lovely sending lots of love ❤️❤️

RainbowSearching · 21/11/2022 19:30

@FfayeN I am so so sorry 😔 Life is so cruel at times 💔

RainbowSearching · 21/11/2022 19:33

@ChloeN It is so hard to know what to do, isn’t it? On one hand I’m thinking, why not, surely it’s worth throwing everything at in order to get a good outcome, but on the other hand there’s the thought of causing harm by taking them 😩 But I know that if I don’t take them, and things go wrong, I’ll blame myself.

ChloeN · 21/11/2022 19:37

@RainbowSearching i think if I was in your shoes I’d take it, but it’s so hard if you know in the back of your mind there could be risks😔 have you done much googling about it? Xx

FfayeN · 21/11/2022 19:43

@RainbowSearching @ChloeN thanks ladies. I agree, I took it thinking if it can help, why not. It's so widely used and I'd never heard it any adverse affects. However perhaps I should have just researched more 🫣. The prism trials on it are very promising though for those that have recurrent miscarriage xx
