Planning for TTC & waiting for 1st period 🩸

Wondered if anyone else is stopping their pill and fancies a thread for planning TTC and keeping eachother company while waiting for ovulation/1st period?

DP & I have decided to TTC baby 2. Our DS is 14m. He was conceived 1st cycle, within 2 weeks of stopping the pill, v lucky.

I'm still breastfeeding (3-4 times during the day, no overnight feeds now) and just come off cerelle. With BF in the mix no idea how long it's going to take for my cycles to return... I'm 37 so I'm hoping it's going to be fast!

First timers welcome too 🙂 when I got my BFP it was really handy and reassuring being on a thread with people who'd already had a baby.

Hello! I’ve just started my withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill this week, getting ready to TTC baby 1.

minnymilk · 25/09/2022 19:45

Hey 🙂eek good luck! Good you've got your withdrawal bleed, I've heard of people waiting ages for anything to happen. Are you planning to track ovulation with opks/bbt or will you just see what happens?

Hello! Wanting to TTC #1. Had my withdrawal bleed in August and now waiting impatiently and anxiously for my first real period.

Thanks for starting the thread!

TinkRose · 25/09/2022 19:50

I think I’m just going to see what happens for the first couple of cycles - I’m using Flo to track but last time I had a break from the pill a few years ago I went to regular 28 day cycles pretty much instantly so hoping the same happens now!

minnymilk · 25/09/2022 19:59

Welcome @FivePotatoesHigh urgh waiting is awful isn't it. How long were you on the pill?

@TinkRose fingers crossed you get going with the 28 day cycles straight off!

Definitely good to take it easy to begin with and not get too obsessed... But much easier said than done! Can feel the obsession coming on already haha.

@minnymilk about 20 years! I’m 41 and couldn’t TTC sooner due to some health stuff (now resolved) so really hoping it’s not too late for us. Some people may recognise these details as I joined one of the TTC June threads out of sheer optimism that we’d be lucky immediately but… no.

I am kicking myself for not coming off the pill a while ago to allow things to get back to normal but I could never have predicted I’d be in a position to TTC/

FivePotatoesHigh · 25/09/2022 20:04

When my period didn’t show it got my hopes up but it’s been too long and too many negative tests - so now waiting for my cycle to return.

TinkRose · 25/09/2022 20:09

Fingers crossed that everyone’s cycles return soon!
I wanted to come off the pill earlier this summer without TTC just to make sure my cycles were in a better position but I had to wait for irregular cervical cells to be removed so I needed to be able to control my period.

minnymilk · 25/09/2022 20:10

Ohh @FivePotatoesHigh really exciting that you get a chance, I hope it works out for you! Have you been looking for ways to encourage ovulation? Diet or exercise or anything like that?

OP posts:
FivePotatoesHigh · 25/09/2022 20:17

Thank you! I think I might have ovulated because I’ve done OPKs here and there to see if anything’s happening and got a very high reading one day (annoying DH was working late) so I’m crossing my fingers that AF will show up before long.

Forgot to say I was on Cilique. Used to take Brevinor until it was discontinued

TinkRose · 25/09/2022 20:43

Fingers crossed!

Skyla01 · 25/09/2022 20:52

Hi, may I join? We are starting to think about TTC number 2. DC is coming up for 2 years old. I've just stopped taking my pill. Last time I think it was 6 weeks for a period, 6 months until my cycle was regular, and 13 months in total until BFP! Hoping it'll be a bit quicker this round but we aren't getting any younger...

@minnymilk so lucky you conceived first time, fingers crossed same again.

@FivePotatoesHigh I remember waiting for a period last time, felt like the longest wait. I had so many hormonal type symptoms as well, drove myself mad!

FivePotatoesHigh · 25/09/2022 20:53

Hoping for prompt AFs and lots of baby dust all round ✨

minnymilk · 25/09/2022 21:45

@Skyla01 I'm so thankful it worked out quickly with DS. But I was fit and got plenty of sleep...6.30am is a lie in these days! So I think my physical health isn't what it was. I have started jogging again and I'm thinking I'll see if DS can drop another breastfeed - he doesn't need it now, it's just routine. I have heard of people conceiving their 2nd right away even though the 1st took a while, happened to a couple of friends of mine, so maybe you'll get a BFP faster this time?

@FivePotatoesHigh do you know what DPO you are? x

Hi all, can I join you too.
I stopped the desogestrel pill just over 2 weeks ago now and have been impatiently waiting for withdrawal bleed Since. TTC#1. Nervous/excited to begin our journey.

Skyla01 · 26/09/2022 07:04

@minnymilk yeah I think it's a total lottery in terms of how long it can take. Makes it very hard to plan! We have a holiday booked for next year so I don't want to be heavily pregnant for that but also don't want to wait too long to start TTC in case it takes us ages again.

FivePotatoesHigh · 26/09/2022 07:30

@minnymilk If that OPK was right then about 18DPO. I’m definitely not pregnant. Really wish AF would just get here already and very worried things aren’t ok there.

RNM1 · 26/09/2022 08:39

Can I join! Trying for baby no3, only started trying this month and so impatient 😫

minnymilk · 26/09/2022 08:55

Hello @RNM1 welcome! How old are your other kids?

Had a moment of doubt at 1.40 this morning rocking DS back to sleep haha - must be nuts signing up for more of this!

@FivePotatoesHigh I guess the chances are nothing is wrong, and your body is just adjusting to coming off the pill. It can take a while. Hopefully AF will come soon.

RNM1 · 26/09/2022 09:06

Hi @minnymilk thank you! my eldest will be 11 soon and my youngest is 2.5 😅 big age gap but I have My 11 year old when I was young. Excited to try for another but I'm so impatient, periods due in 5 days . New to forums so not good with the lingo!

minnymilk · 26/09/2022 11:03

@RNM1 don't worry about the lingo, it's daft really but you get into the habit of it!

I imagine the age gap could be quite nice in some ways? If the 11yo is excited about a new brother or sister too. I helped a lot with my brother at that age.

Just trying to think of things I might need to do. Definitely need to get some folic acid. I'm wondering if iron might be helpful too, as I was borderline anemic with DS. I'm assuming my levels are more normal now, but a boost can't hurt.

OP posts:
Skyla01 · 26/09/2022 13:56

@minnymilk best to just get on with it and not worry about the sleepless nights I think- otherwise we might change our minds! Not that you mention it I should be starting back on the folic acid too. Can't hurt to top up your iron levels.

@FivePotatoesHigh I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, it can take a while for things to get back to normal. Once you have an af you'll be back in track.

FivePotatoesHigh · 26/09/2022 15:24

@minnymilk vitamin D may also be worth considering? Or you could take pregnacare?

@Skyla01 thanks, it’s just so hard not to overthink it!

👋 to everyone who has joined

FivePotatoesHigh · 26/09/2022 15:27

@minnymilk scratch that, just seen on another thread that pregnacare is known for messing up your cycle so forget I said anything!

Mayfield87 · 26/09/2022 16:56

Can I join? This is my first cycle TTC baby 2. Took 4 months first time round so 🤞🏻 I'm ovulating this week so ready for a weed of DTD 😆 stopped the pill and got a withdrawal bleed 2 weeks later and then my first period 4 weeks later so this is officially our first cycle.
