Planning for TTC & waiting for 1st period 🩸

Wondered if anyone else is stopping their pill and fancies a thread for planning TTC and keeping eachother company while waiting for ovulation/1st period?

DP & I have decided to TTC baby 2. Our DS is 14m. He was conceived 1st cycle, within 2 weeks of stopping the pill, v lucky.

I'm still breastfeeding (3-4 times during the day, no overnight feeds now) and just come off cerelle. With BF in the mix no idea how long it's going to take for my cycles to return... I'm 37 so I'm hoping it's going to be fast!

First timers welcome too 🙂 when I got my BFP it was really handy and reassuring being on a thread with people who'd already had a baby.

Thankyou @Sparklythings1 so I stopped the pill on August 16th so it was cycle 1 for us- I know we are super lucky and we are eternally grateful! That was 11dpo. Going to test again in a day or two when period is due just to see another line and check 🙈

Sparklythings1 · 10/10/2022 20:28

@Mayfield87 aw wow, that’s great! I stopped mine on 22nd august! I ended up trying the first cycle even though I was planning just to let it pass. This is now the second but really wasn’t expecting anything last month anyway. Hope all goes well for you 🥰

So thought I would update you guys- only been on the thread a little while but I got my BFP yesterday. Wanted to wish you all the luck in the world for your ttc journeys! 🍀❤️

Amazing news, congrats!

Skyla01 · 11/10/2022 15:20

@Mayfield87 congratulations! That's great news.

@Charlotte1256 at least your cycle is back. Hope af isn't too bad. I'm still waiting for mine.

@Sparklythings1 don't worry! Sounds like your cycle is still settling down. Hope you've made up with DP now.

Sparklythings1 · 11/10/2022 20:17

@Skyla01 we made up tonight, I would never usually forgive so easily but my ovulation tests are nearing peak and there isn’t time for arguing 😂 I am not missing the boat here!! I will argue with him tomorrow 😂

Skyla01 · 12/10/2022 12:44

@Sparklythings1 lol, the things TTC bring out in us...! Good news about ovulation, hopefully you'll catch this time.

How is everyone else getting on?

Charlotte1256 · 12/10/2022 13:22

My period has stopped now, was light-medium and only lasted 3 days so that’s not bad at all. Just waiting for my fertile window now! I don’t think I’m going to use ovulation tests this month as we are going on holiday, just going to try and BD every other day from the end of this week and see what happens 🤞🏼

FivePotatoesHigh · 12/10/2022 15:28

My period came back, OPK said I ovulated… and we TOTALLY missed the window as DH wasn’t well. Argh!!

I would have liked to avoid an August or September birthday but don’t want to put TTC on hold!

HoppingTiger · 12/10/2022 18:34

I have had no period and it is 4 weeks since I stopped the pill, 3 weeks since withdrawal bleed.

Today I have had very sticky, egg white clear discharge, unlike any discharge I have ever had from memory (been on the pill for 11 years since I was 18). Google tells me this may be ovulation. So I am hopeful!

Not going to TTC until January. Using condoms for now which is not as bad as I thought it would be. But still hopeful to see my cycle getting regular to be in the best position possible.

Sparklythings1 · 12/10/2022 20:05

@FivePotatoesHigh I’m in Scotland but I’m guessing you’re in England for the birthday/school year thing? Our cut off is end of Feb and I would rather avoid a Christmas baby if I could so I’m just really hoping I’m lucky in the next few months

Sparklythings1 · 12/10/2022 20:08

Peak opk last night, pretty sure I’m ovulating right now.. I’ve been able to feel something happening the last 2 hours or so! I’m not trying again tonight, I originally planned to do the baby dust method just to give us a slight advantage of having a girl rather than a boy (as we have a boy). Would be happy with either though so knew last night wasn’t following the plan but feel like I don’t have the patience to go from one month to the next trying days before ovulation and hoping for the best. We’ll hopefully have three children anyway so there will be more pressure (on myself) next time if I already have two boys I think 😂

Yep! Partly school year issues, partly not wanting them to have a birthday in the middle of the holidays when nobody’s about. But hey, whatever happens is whatever happens.

Skyla01 · 12/10/2022 20:45

@Charlotte1256 that's a good plan. DTD every few days is failsafe, and hopefully less stressful than using opks.
@FivePotatoesHigh how annoying! It's so hard to predict things. Agree with not bothering too much about timing t

Skyla01 · 12/10/2022 20:48

Oops, posted too soon.
@HoppingTiger is exactly same position as you! We were kinda not going to try until new year either but I've just noticed fertile cm today too so... Not sure whether to abstain or not 😉but good to know our bodies are doing something.
@Sparklythings1 what is the baby dust method?

Sparklythings1 · 12/10/2022 21:15

@Skyla01 it’s a book and a Facebook group, you can supposedly ‘sway’ your chances of conceiving a girl or boy based on timing and a few other things. The basic idea to conceive a boy is exactly what we did to conceive our little boy (didn’t know about it at the time). For a boy you should dtd on the day of ovulation and day after I’m sure it is. For a girl you should dtd 2-4 days before ovulation and only have one attempt. The idea is that girl sperm are slower swimmers but live longer so if you do it 2-4 days before the egg is there, the boy sperm will have all died off while the girl sperm will reach the egg at the right time. It does make sense and a lot of research seems to support it (some doesn’t obviously) but I thought it was worth just baring in mind when we were trying this time. After getting a negative last month though I would just be delighted to get a positive at all!

Sparklythings1 · 12/10/2022 21:16

@FivePotatoesHigh yeah totally! I don’t think I could hold off for a few months if it came to it anyway, it feels like once you’ve started you can only get deeper into ttc 🙈

TinkRose · 23/10/2022 15:16

I had my withdrawal bleed after coming off my pill four weeks ago and honestly I don’t feel a hint of AF coming anytime soon!
I’m also not sure I’ve ovulated yet; I used to get very obvious ovulation pains and I haven’t at all. My plan is to wait for my period to start and then order some ovulation tests so I can track what’s going on.

Sparklythings1 · 23/10/2022 21:45

I’m onto cycle #3 now, if you count the first one as an actual cycle when my first proper period hadnt been yet. AF keeps arriving 7/8 days after ovulation so it means I haven’t even got as far as to using any of my tests yet. I mean it’s saved me money on that front but I’m starting to worry a bit now as I’ve looked into it all and if progesterone isn’t high enough to sustain a pregnancy, AF will just arrive. That means I could have technically got pregnant the last two cycles and I’ll never know because my body was too busy clearing it away. This month I’m going all out. I’ve started taking vitamin c, it’s meant to help with it. Started ashwagandha which is meant to chill you out a bit, stress can block the progesterone. Going to take Agnus castus only for the two weeks after ovulation and see if that stops AF coming so early. So frustrating but hopefully the last two months have just been the pill messing it up

TobySpaniel · 24/10/2022 00:47

Please may I join! Just found this thread. I'm waiting to come off Desogestrel, as we are planning on starting TTC 1st December.
Hoping to avoid an August baby just in case it happens very quickly like DD1..
Feeling incredibly impatient! To be honest I'm really tempted to come off the pill right now to give my body time to reset but don't know if I'm rushing into it for the sake of it!

I'm exactly the same other than some more egg white CM a week and a bit ago so maybe AF will come in a few days. But zero signs!

Nearly two months since I stopped the pill now. Glad I stopped it with a few months before we are hoping to start ttc. I think I'd have found it frustrating if I was wanting to be trying. Hoping to avoid august baby ideally but not the end of the world- healthy baby is all we want at the end of the day.

TinkRose · 24/10/2022 07:36

We said we would try after Christmas so if it happened before that it would be a bonus but of course now I want it to happen straightaway!

TI2411 · 24/10/2022 07:44

I’d like to join too! 😊
I took my last Cerazette pill on the 12/10. No withdrawal bleed yet! Started taking folic acid a couple of days ago.
TTC number 3 🙂

My first AF arrived (since coming off the pill) approx two weeks after I ovulated. I got impatient earlier in the week so took an EPT which was negative. Hoping to get lucky next cycle :)

MilkyAndFluffy · 24/10/2022 09:20

I came off the mini pill 20th September, and still haven’t had a period yet - argh! I was using ovulations sticks from a few days after I stopped and got a positive result on 3rd/4th October which is exactly 2 weeks after I stopped taking the pill! I thought I was gonna be lucky and have a normal cycle straight away but I still haven’t had a period (I should have had one 2 weeks after ovulation around 18th October) but still nothing :( I’ve done 4 pregnancy tests and all BFN so it must just be my cycles messed up! Trying to decide whether to do ovulation tests again because in theory I’d be ovulating again in the next week but I haven’t had the period so don’t know if I will. It’s torturing me I don’t have a cycle sorted yet - wish id have done my research and came off the pill earlier to give my body change to readjust! Read all sorts of horror stories about potentially having PCOS or because I’m overweight so my mission is to lose some weight!!! Whyyyy is this process so awful on us girls 😭

reading all these is keeping me going… sending you all so much baby dust 💓x x x
