@SarahShorty so sorry to hear AF has arrived! And your shoes, that is also very sad!

Question for those of you who use ovulation strips. I have finally got some, I am still waiting for AF to rear her ugly head, but thought I would practice using them. There is a faint line on it, but I'm CD30, is this normal? Is there always some LH in the urine even this late in the cycle??

SarahShorty · 12/10/2022 20:47

@Bananatoast123 thanks lovely xx In their defence, I know Royal Mail can be hit and miss and there was another courier I could have chosen, so that's on me, to be honest. I don't really fancy anything at the moment and I can't stand the taste of alcohol (no offence to anyone here who likes it). I'm sleepy and just want to curl up under the duvet. I'm a tearful mess, probably from all the hormones and just want to sleep. Hopefully no.7 is the one for us.

SarahShorty · 12/10/2022 20:50

@missmoosh I'm so sorry, I didn't even see your post! Everything is a bit of a muddle tonight.

For LH strips, there is always some LH in your system, so it's normal to have a faint line on the strip at CD30. It'll register at something like 0.20 on an app. All normal.

PinkButtercups · 12/10/2022 21:05

Sorry to hear AF has arrived for some of you.

Good luck to those still in the TWW and hope you all get your BFP's soon!

I went into MAU last night. At this rate thinking I should get a loyalty card. I had really bad pains and they wanted to assess me to check me over incase it was early labour.

Got hooked up to the machine and my tightenings wee reaching 36 on the toco machine. Then they went down to about 25. Active labour on the toco machine is 40 so I knew I wasn't being dramatic I just had very painful BH!! My belly felt like a rock when it was happening. So painful 🤣. Anyway they gave me stronger pain relief and thankfully managed to get some sleep and haven't had them as bad today (touch wood). Just glad it was BH!

@SarahShorty Hey lovely, so sorry AF showed up. Think you've got the right idea treating yourself, but a pain about Royal Mail! Really hope cycle 7 is the one for you. Good news that the sperm analysis didn't show up any concerns, and great that you have a plan re. timing laid out now. (By the way your comment about the dwarfs made me chuckle, you have a great way of putting things!)

@LucyLoopyLu That sounds very productive, and not too long to wait until you have some answers.

@Cheesecake93 Welcome! I also have endometriosis but not had a hycosy.

Good luck @HeathenPlayingHouse - prioritising self care is definitely the way to go. I hadn't heard about spearmint tea, is that linked to fertility?

@Dreamingof3 Ouch! Sounds painful, I haven't been stung in years. Hope you're all better now.

@Anna531 So hard not to symptom spot isn't it! Distraction is a great idea

@PinkButtercups Glad all is ok! Those babies are putting you through it!

I'm in my fertile window so DTD every other day. OPKs are showing really low so wondering if I might ovulate late this month, or not at all. Work is very stressful so trying to do my best to relax, and got some issues trying to sort out the last bits for the wedding (Royal Mail strike not helping, guests suddenly not coming even though we've paid etc.) so it's probably all counterproductive to ttc.

unluckyforsam · 13/10/2022 09:42

Hi, I hope it's okay to join?

Me and my partner are both late twenties and looking to start TTC. The week we made the decision and started actually trying, I was told I have PCOS (which had shown up in a scan I was previously told was clear.

It makes sense with having very long, very irregular periods but it was still a bit of a blow to find out it's likely going to take longer than we thought.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 13/10/2022 10:07

@DesertSnow It's been shown to reduce testosterone in women with PCOS- if nothing else, it might help clear the spots and slow the chin hair growth! 😂

Dreamingof3 · 13/10/2022 13:11

@PinkButtercups ohh these babies! I hope you're feeling a bit better now

Houseelf90 · 13/10/2022 13:13

13dpo today and feeling very tired!! Though that’s nothing new! Had lower backache and a weird pain/heavy feeling in my lower abdomen yesterday evening. I think AF due to arrive anytime between tomorrow and Sunday based on previous cycles, and I will test on Monday if AF doesn’t show!
Luckily I have a distraction if AF does show as we got a kitten this week so he will keep me occupied/entertained!

Bananatoast123 · 13/10/2022 16:29

8/9dpo today and I feel pants! Wiped out, headaches and twingey. It’s probably because I had a massage today but maybe could be a good sign! Not testing until I’m late!

missmoosh · 13/10/2022 21:11

Well AF arrived at last, on to cycle 3 I go 😔 going to treat myself to a glass of wine tomorrow now though...

BethSuz27 · 14/10/2022 14:28

Random but is there such thing as conception pain? I had ovulation pains in the right side and then 3 days later had some strange twinges and pulling sensations further over but in my uterus area still … has anyone had this ??

Jennifer89 · 14/10/2022 18:40

Are any of you ladies avoiding ttc for August baby? Tbh it wouldn't be my favoured month but not going to put off ttc purely for that reason.
I wouldn't want to miss out on potential month of getting pregnant. Even if I waited to ttc in December they would be due early September and could be born early anyway..

DesertSnow · 14/10/2022 19:18

@unluckyforsam Welcome! Sorry to hear about the PCOS. I only discovered when I started tracking that I have a short LP, so understand about finding out it may not be a smooth process. But this group is really supportive, so I hope you find it helpful. Hope your journey is smoother than anticipated :)

@HeathenPlayingHouse ah thanks! I hadn't heard that one.

@Houseelf90 oh a kitten, how lovely! And a great distraction. Fingers crossed for you.

@Bananatoast123 I would say sorry you feel pants, but I'm hoping it's a good sign for you!

@missmoosh really sorry to hear AF arrived. Enjoy that glass of wine and be kind to yourself. The good news is you're already onto the next cycle!

@BethSuz27 lots of people say they feel twinges, I think some are down to raised progesterone in the luteal phase, but you never know! Fingers crossed it's a good sign for you.

@Jennifer89 We waited to ttc because of timing around our wedding, but from now on don't think we'll be skipping any cycles (although OH has a long trip planned in April). I don't want to miss any chances!

Houseelf90 · 14/10/2022 19:35

@DesertSnow thank you! No sign of AF yet but not holding my breath!

Jennifer89 · 14/10/2022 21:08

@missmoosh I have been using ovulation strips in past month. I found looking at youtube videos on ovulation test progression useful for understanding what the lines mean.
I think what I am seeing as positive test seems correct as the couple times I used the tests my period arrived 2 weeks after predicted ovulation.
Got LH surge on varied days from cycle day 11, cycle day 13 and another month cycle day 16, so seems my ovulation days are a bit unpreditable but I think that is normal, which is why they do recommend just regular sex every couple days is good.
Me and dh haven't quite managed that though, don't have the energy to dtd that often. Due to dh being unwell we also missed the best days this month.
So on to next month..

Bananatoast123 · 15/10/2022 07:50

I’m feeling so frustrated with my OH I’m going to have to rant (sorry!)

It’s been 8 months and 4 weeks ago he got proper down how it wasn’t happening for us, and I’d had my tests and know I’m all healthy etc! We’d spoken about him and how we’d get him tested once we had more money for it but I’d said how the doctor said lifestyle changes makes the difference! My OH doesn’t drink during the week but does every other weekend on average but he drinks heavy, gets carried away! We’d spoken about this and he seemed to have his mindset that he would work on it.

The last 3 Fridays he’s drunk so much getting carried away with his mates and I just feel hopeless that this could be our downfall? I see how much he drinks and just think how can that be any good? I know he wants a baby more than anything but I just don’t think he like thinks at the time he’s socialising and getting carried away on the impact!

I’m angry at him this morning. Can’t help thinking how he’s going to cost us those tests to be told and I just feel I’m the one who has to go through IVF not him so having him focus now would be really helpful eurgh!!

missmoosh · 15/10/2022 10:11

Hi girls, I am going to take a little break, I got some bad health news yesterday and have to go through more testing etc, but it looks like my chances of getting pregnant are quite low, at least until a treatment plan is underway. So I am going to take some time to process it all, and get all the other tests done. Sending my best wishes to everyone trying and I hope you all got your BFPs soon!

Welshgal85 · 15/10/2022 11:49

Sorry to hear that @missmoosh take care of yourself. Thinking of you x

Welshgal85 · 15/10/2022 11:53

I’ve had a bit of a stressful month and had to step away from the thread for a bit. Hope everyone else is doing okay.

2 friends have both announced they are expecting. I’m so happy for them but keep thinking I hope it happens for us soon!

does everyone else get annoyed with people telling you to just relax and then it will happen? I know they are trying to be helpful but it can be easier said than done. I’m ovulating atm so fingers crossed for this cycle!

lj2022 · 15/10/2022 12:29

@Jennifer89 I thought this when I got to cycle 8 for an April baby as I am finishing uni and my partner had a trip away booked and that's the month we got pregnant 😂 it's a difficult one trying to decide wether to avoid ttc or not!

DesertSnow · 15/10/2022 16:15

@Bananatoast123 I'm sorry, that sounds really irritating of your OH and no wonder you're cross! I think guys just don't get it because their bodies aren't so physically involved throughout the cycle. I guess all you can do is talk to him about it... if it is what's hindering you (though of course it isn't necessarily that), then it would be better for him to hold off until you conceive, then he can have the mad weekends after that... How infuriating of him, I hope you're feeling ok.

@missmoosh Really sorry to hear that, I hope you're ok and you get some answers and a definite way forward soon.

@Welshgal85 Sorry to hear you've had a stressful month. I know what you mean about being happy for others but wishing it was happening for you. Yes, the relaxation thing is annoying! My OH is saying it.

No sign of ovulation yet this month, CD21 :( Nothing on the OPKs, not even a remotely high reading. I really hope it isn't an anovulatory cycle. I've had a cold and just had my Covid booster yesterday so wondering if one of those threw it off? (I usually ovulate CD20 though have at CD22 before, a few months ago). Slightly annoyingly I have a high temperature as a side effect of the vaccine so makes temping a bit pointless in the crucial days! Or else I'm wondering if the B6 could be delaying it. Really hope it happens. My OH's friend (they used to be friends with benefits for quite a while) has just had a baby and I just wished it was me. I know I have a lot to be grateful for, but it's just this yearning that I can't control.

LucyLoopyLu · 15/10/2022 16:18

Just wanted to check in and say hi. I dropped off for a few days just to take a break. Trying to relax a bit more and not get too wound up about the testing we've booked.

@missmoosh sorry to hear you've had some bad news. Sending you lots of good thoughts

@HeathenPlayingHouse never heard that about spearmint tea. I take it that it is spearmint specifically, not peppermint?

@Dreamingof3 bee stings sound horrible! I would have felt v sorry for myself too. Hope you're ok now

@PinkButtercups wow some strong BH! No wonder you were concerned about the pains! Hope you're ok now

Bananatoast123 · 15/10/2022 16:43

@DesertSnow i know it’s so frustrating! I was in such a bad mood I started a bit of a tiff this morning after it which he tried to defend himself. He then came back a few mins later and gave me a big hug and apologised and agreed we were a team. I know I can’t blame him and it may not even have an impact but the problem is you never know! This month coming he had a good few weeks before ovulation but then he like went back to old ways! I’ve said this to him about conceiving but we go month by month with nothing! I’ve got all my normal pms symptoms now so think Af is coming so it’s onto cycle 9! I know it might be down to chance but hate that it feels like it’s not achievable! We’ve agreed January for tests which I think is because he’s planning to propose first!

I’m sorry your ovulation is taking its time this month! When I had covid booster my period stopped instantly and I ovulated later too if that helps?? I know what you mean by hearing about other peoples success and just having no control on your own! I’m the same!
