Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

Hi Ladies!

Hope it's not too late to join! You are all so inspirational and supportive that rather than continue to just read, would love to jump in properly!

I'm TTC #1 and have been off the pill 3 months but this is my first cycle actively trying. Used OPKs, DTD 3 days before and 2 days on and after ovulation as well as using conceive plus lube. I think ill be in the June group as AF is due in 2 days but tested BFN on 12DPO using FRER.

Despite it being the first cycle, I was very disappointed as my nipples have never been this painful (can't wear a bra) but as only recently off the pill after 10 years, am still getting to know my body i guess!

Baby dust to everyone in this thread!

NSx · 03/09/2022 16:29

Ladies - I feel everything you are all saying .. my OH told me today I'm making things stressful over analysing things 😩
he said when we fell pregnant in feb we didn't do half the nonsense we are doing now (I've recently started looking into foods that mess with fertility πŸ˜…)
he said it happened before and it will happen again, but I Honestly feel like time isn’t on our side and I’m itching to be pregnant again. It’s horrendous 😩

LavenderWillow · 03/09/2022 16:50

Hello ladies! Currently cd5 waiting for AF to stop.
thinking about trying to BD every other day after AF stops but not sure if we might be a bit worn out by the time I ovulated. I ovulated last month CD 18 so not sure when to start BD. Also want to try and do it for fun so it’s not just baby making!

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 03/09/2022 17:05

It's very hard to relax though! I'm taking the advice from this group and trying to treat myself to something nice when AF comes as fully expecting it in 2 days and then will try start the new cycle fresh.

Saying that, I bought another frer but will either do it tomorrow or Monday when AF is due if it hasn't come already

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 03/09/2022 17:30

@LavenderWillow do you use the Clear Blue OPKs? I find the flashing smileys a good indicator to start BD so we're not wrecked by Ovulation time!

LavenderWillow · 03/09/2022 17:40

@ExcitedandNervousC1 ive only tracked one cycle and used the easy@home opk strips. Do you think it’s worth doing the clear blue?

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 03/09/2022 18:08

I find them really easy to understand given all the information overload out there!! I was blank for 2 days this cycle then flashing for 5 (increasing fertility) and then peaked on the 20th August with a static smiley so DTD every second day during the flashing and both days on 20th and 21st however I wish I had done it the 23rd just to be sure as static smiley means you will ovulate in 12-48 hrs

Cm078 · 03/09/2022 20:36

How long are your guys cycles usually and when do you ovulate? I'm determined not to track this time, but just a rough idea of the days i need to BD πŸ˜‚

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 03/09/2022 21:01

Hey @Cm078 currently I'm averaging 32 days according to the flo app and ovulate on day 16 or 17 according to clear blue opk!

Cm078 · 03/09/2022 21:05

@ExcitedandNervousC1 thank you! My last cycle was 30 days and the one before that was 36 so hard to predict for myself πŸ™ˆ

NSx · 03/09/2022 21:26

@Cm078 im usually 28/29 days and ovulate day 14 if that helps x

Cm078 · 03/09/2022 21:32

@NSx thank you! 😊

Sparklythings1 · 03/09/2022 22:02

Last time I was all over the place. I just looked back and we did start pretty much straight after stopping the pill which will be why but I had cycles ranging from 24-33 days. I remember waiting 40 days for the first one but according to my app it was 33 πŸ€” that’s good news for me now though as it’s less time I might have to wait on my first proper period! I ovulated on days ranging from 15-18 according to the cheap opks, I was also doing the clearblue ones and I think they pretty much agreed or were accurate within 12 hours of each other. It was such an expense for the clearblues but I did like them, I think the main thing that makes you think they’re β€˜working’ is the fact it feels like you’re getting somewhere with the smiley faces, as if that means you’re pregnant or something just because it flashes. It’s all a mind game but people (me) totally buy into it! I’m going to try just with the cheapies this time to see how we go.

Last time I used pre-seed as well. We have a little boy but since hearing a lot more about β€˜gender swaying’ (whether you believe in any of that or not) ive realised we basically did what people do if they want a boy. So I’m going to leave it up to fate a bit more this time, not use the pre-seed (unless we’re getting nowhere) and try to be a lot less full on with β€˜trying’ every day and twice a day etc, it was way too much!

NSx · 03/09/2022 22:11

@Sparklythings1 what do u do for a boy? x

Bluejeanbaby91 · 03/09/2022 22:18

Mine changes month to month, or ovary to ovary I suppose! One month Ill ovulate CD14, the next CD18 and then back to 14 and so on!
My left side seems to be the quicker one!
I track use OPK (easy@home) and BBT on Natural Cycles.
I started tracking and TTC in March as that's when my cycles regulated from coming off the pill in December

Sparklythings1 · 03/09/2022 22:34

@NSx according to the shettles and baby dust method which claims to have a certain success rate but a lot of people say it’s been proven as just being 50/50 anyway… the main difference is the male sperm are faster and live less time whereas the sperm to make a baby girl are slower to reach the egg but can live inside you for longer. So it’s basically a case of, if you have sex bang on ovulation day and use something like pre-seed which helps sperm motility, the boy sperm have the best chance of winning the race as it were πŸ˜‚ For girls, you’d stop before ovulation and the male sperm would have died out by the time the egg is released so the female ones would be there waiting. As a theory it does sound like it could be right enough but obviously massively relies on knowing when you’ll actually ovulate and people have a lot of conflicting views on it. I’m just going to be more casual about it this time hopefully and see what we get!

Tophy124 · 03/09/2022 22:35

@Sparklythings1 Interesting!!

We used preseed last time too and also have a boy. What do they say for gender swaying?

I won’t find out gender next time to avoid feeling any certain way if we have another boy vs girl as it would be amazing to have one of each. Just hoping they are healthy x

Tophy124 · 03/09/2022 22:36

sorry just cross posted with you sparkly! Very very interesting!! I’ve heard certain positions are more likely to result in boys due to the sperm being faster.

Would you like a girl next? Or don’t mind? Xx

Tophy124 · 03/09/2022 22:41

Just realised I’ve been tracking my AF wrong as I was counting spotting as cd1. Updated my app and ovulation has moved back a few days so I will start with OPKs tonight to take guesswork out.

Ovulation will now be 100% once partner has gone but I’m hoping a day after he goes, so maybe some luck may be on our side vs if it happens whilst he has been gone for a few days.

Trying Premom OPKs this month and will get clear blue next month. I did try clear blue last month and the main part stopped working and I got too frustrated 🀣 Just had a book symbol over and over!

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 04/09/2022 08:42

Tested this morning at 14DPO and BFN (hence why I'm in this group to try and get excited that it'll happen next month but can't hide my disappointment that it didn't happen first cycle proper trying although I know that's rare)

AF due tomorrow according to flo so then should have more data to keep refining my dates

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 09:01

@Tophy124 I think we will (hopefully) have three, I just don’t feel like I want this to be my last time. That might change when we have two though! So I’d like to have either two boys and a girl or two girls and a boy. So this one doesn’t really matter, the only thing I think is if it was a boy it would maybe then make me feel pressure next time. Also can’t be bothered with everyone else’s comments if it was another boy. I almost felt them this time having him when it was only one child! As if girls are somehow better πŸ™„ I would definitely have to find out again though, couldn’t sleep at night not knowing πŸ˜‚ ive always said if we had one of each I wouldn’t find out if we had a third!

afinethingindeed · 04/09/2022 09:04

@ExcitedandNervousC1 that's exactly how I feel! I'm sorry it didn't happen for you this cycle.

I'm 13 DPO according to dates, AF due Tuesday. There's still a minute chance I guess but I think it's unlikely. I'm going to buy some new OPKs as recommended above and then use the premom app from now on.
On the plus side, I did decide to enjoy that glass of Prosecco last night Smile (it might have been more than one!!)
And another plus is that we've now avoided being due on my daughter's birthday.. trying to look at the positives here.

Who else is due to test in the next few days? Fingers crossed for you all xx

Aardbeien · 04/09/2022 09:09

I'm due to test in the next few days but I don't feel confident that it'll be a bfp this time somehow, too much stress this month. Still, fingers crossed

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 10:04

Feel for everyone getting their hopes up only for AF to then arrive. I can’t β€˜try’ until after my next period and that’s frustrating as I watch my fertile window come and go πŸ™ˆ but it’s actually so much easier than the hope of a pregnancy test being positive and it’s not. I so want to try not to test early this time, I’d go to work disappointed nearly every day for about a week at one point

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 11:18

@Sparklythings1 i understand the whole boy thing. We have a boy and people keep saying oh so you want a girl? And they're shocked when I actually reply with "no I'd quite like another boy!"
My sister has 3 girls and my brother has 2 girls so my boy is quite special at parties etc which is nice! As long as the next baby is healthy I'm happy either way luckily. It's a shame we can't choose but could you imagine what the girl to boy ratio would be!
