Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

Hello everyone :-)

Would you mind if I joined in on this thread? I came here to make a post asking for some advice and instead I've read through this thread and it's funny how much better/positive I feel already.

I'm 34 and husband is 41. I've been off contraception for over 5 years and we just decided 'if it happens, it happens' as children were never a priority for me. Our sex life is very inconsistent and we certainly have had nowhere near what is reccomended in order to concieve, so I'm not too concerned that nothing has happened during the five years. However, it feels like my biological clock has kicked me hard in the face during the past few months and I am finding myself feeling quite emotional at seeing baby clothes(!?) and my friends babies. I said to my husband just last month that I'm finally ready to try and make it happen (to his delight as he's desperate to become a Dad!)

If it's not too much trouble, would anyone have any recommendations for which ovulation kits or thermometers to use? So many come up on google searches but I'd much rather go with reccommendations.

Up until 5 minutes ago, I also thought I was abnormal for having periods that ranged from 31 - 35 days! I had no idea that 28 - 35 days was 'normal'. It doesn't help with the planning but I feel some instant relief!

Good luck to everyone here, I've really enjoyed reading all the posts so far :-)

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 04/09/2022 12:55

@LittleOne04 welcome to the chat! I personally used the clear blue OPK test which shows high fertility days as well as your 2 peak days which I found really helpful!

FieldView · 04/09/2022 13:19

Welcome @LittleOne04! Another vote for the clearblue digital opks from me. I haven't used them since last year, but I'm back in the game now so giving to give them another go this cycle, if only to see whether the Flo app correctly estimates my ovulation date!

Also 35, TTC #1 and my DH is 43. We've definitely got time, but it does feel as though it's running out a bit. Never wanted to be a parent until a couple of years ago and now I'm full on broody πŸ˜‚

Hello! If it helps, actively trying just means having unproductive sex - you don’t have to be doing it every other day or anything like that, so you could definitely get some blood tests and things for free at the gp. (Not saying you definitely need to, more like you might as well if you can!!)

It’s a bit of a minefield but there are positives on these groups every month so we all have a chance :)

The people I know who’ve got pregnant lately it always happened on non fertile weeks or when they barely BD do who knows.

Hi everyone I’m coming over from the May thread! I’m officially out and AF arrived! This is cycle ttc baby no 2! Took us 6 months with baby no1. I’m just thinking my LP is only 10 days long and I ovulate late so is this even enough time for implantation to be able to take place? Sending lots of positive vibes for this month to us all ❀️

NatGee · 04/09/2022 14:43

Hello everyone πŸ‘‹πŸ½ moving from the may ttc thread, mind if I join?
This will be cycle #4 TTC 1. Bbt took a massive plunge this morning even though it had steadily been declining since 8 dpo. I am 37 and DH is 39 so wanting to get this done sooner rather than later
Wishing everyone lots of baby dust and luck for a June 23 baby xx

Mummyme87 · 04/09/2022 15:33

On the gender front, I have two boys and of course would love a little girl, but you don’t have a baby for a certain gender. As long as they’re healthy.

CD8 today, started getting mucus today, the start of EWCM. I’ve had my second empty circle on digi CB OPK. Haven’t done any OPK cheapies yet. I’m going to make a conscious effort to have more sex this cycle!!

LavenderWillow · 04/09/2022 17:10

@LittleOne04 hello! I use the easy@home opks and thermometer! I find them really easy to use and much cheaper than the cLear blue digital - although I might get them for this month for an extra insight.
the bbt thermometer takes about a minute or two which feels like ages in the morning lying in bed but I’ve been getting good readings and find it easy to track.

hi @NatGee and @CRLan welcome over! Also from May thread here!

thinking we’ll just BD every other day this month and hope for the best!

im away on holiday to Portugal on my predicted O day - but hoping enough BD before will keep us in with a chance.

do you think I’ll be fine to drink on holiday? I’ll only be 1-3 DPO so not implanted but not sure on the rules! πŸ˜‚

FieldView · 04/09/2022 17:49

@LavenderWillow based on what I've read, I think it's ok to drink in the tww. I think the saying is "drink till it's pink"! I probably wouldn't go wild, but I don't think a few drinks is any harm before implantation as it's not connected to you. Official guidelines are probably not to drink at all whilst ttc, but I've definitely got more relaxed about it as the months have gone on

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 18:01

@Cm078 totally! I really like that my first has been a boy 😊 I would love either for him to have a brother and grow up best friends or for us to experience one of each by having a girl but as you say, when it comes to the scans etc you couldn’t care less what it is as long as there’s a heartbeat and all is okay! Just seems like there’s this kind of attitude among some people that you must be so disappointed if you have a boy

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 18:11

@LittleOne04 welcome! I used the clearblue ovulation tests last time I conceived but they were so expensive. I used them alongside the easy at home tests and they were pretty much both the same. The good thing about the easy at home cheap ones is you can do multiple per day and sometimes your peak doesn’t happen til later in the day so it would be the next morning before you’d know on the clearblue. They do the same job pretty much. I use the premom app with the easy at home tests so you take a picture of them with your phone and the app tells you your reading, if it’s over 1 it’s high/maybe your peak.

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 18:13

@Mummyme87 totally, you get a baby rather than a boy or a girl. Sounds like a good plan πŸ˜‚

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 19:24

@Sparklythings1 yes me too. One of each is everyones ideal but i honestly don't mind either way, i do feel sorry for all the unwanted boys, but we can't help how we feel i suppose! Healthy is all that matters.
Lots of baby dust for everyone this month. CD 10 now, so best start dtd πŸ˜‚

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 20:17

@Cm078 good luck πŸ˜‚ CD 13 for me but we aren’t β€˜trying’ til next cycle due to having too much on this month that I can’t be pregnant at πŸ™ˆ Using this as a trial cycle though to do opks and they’re still showing 0.2 or lower so nowhere near peak yet. I did look back at old ones though and it seems to have gone from that to over 1 in the space of 24 hours so I should probably just keep testing!

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 20:26

@Sparklythings1 oh wow! Our bodies are amazing aren't they? I haven't got any opks, swore to myself i would be do that this time but i have had a bit of cm today, although its probably a bit too early to be ovulating!
Fingers crossed for you next month then😊

Sparklythings1 · 04/09/2022 20:36

@Cm078 hoping this cycle isn’t more than 28 days so it will still be a June baby if we get lucky first try 🀞🏼 It’s like watching the ice cream van come and go or something, not being able to go out and get a cone this month.. need to wait on him coming back againπŸ˜‚

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 20:49

@Sparklythings1 that is so true!!πŸ˜‚ or its a bit like payday, you're excited to see and spend that money in your bank then bam, 2 weeks later its all gone, and have to wait another 2 weeks for the next payday!
A june baby would be nice. My boy is 1st April. Was due 20th March but kept me waiting until april fools! Lol. July & august babies would be good too. I always loved having my birthday in the summer holidays!

Tophy124 · 04/09/2022 21:10

@Sparklythings1 @Cm078

Its not just me that fields constant weird comments about my son then! My darling boy is amazing to me in every single way and I get genuinely puzzled by comments about do I want a girl and will I be disappointed with another boy. I’ve even had someone ask me will I be upset if he gets married and isn’t close with me anymore (he’s not even 2 quite yet!)

In my social circles it seems like girls are definitely more β€˜sought after’ (I feel awful saying it like that but not sure how else to put it).

I’d take my precious son over any other child, health issues and all. He’s brought so much joy and love into our home. I no longer even say as long as baby is completely healthy healthy as my son has a serious health issue, just as long as baby can have a good life.

Also as a side note. My husband and his brother are VERY close to their mum, as is my brother. We live away from our families and so the grandparents see the grandchildren from the boys a lot more! I’m not worried about my son not being close with me.

Tophy124 · 04/09/2022 21:19

Good luck to everyone this month and hi to anyone coming over from the May thread.

Hopefully lots of Autumn babies headed our way. It took 5 cycles for me to conceive baby #1 and so I’m trying to relax a little.

Still getting to grips with the OPKs and thought a test I did last night looked nice and pink but it came up on the Premom app as β€˜low’ so will keep testing.

Also for anyone reading the comments about gender. It’s completely ok if you have a preference for a certain gender. Gender disappointment can be hard to deal with. I was sure I would have a girl as both sides of the families are all girls, but having a boy has turned into the best surprise we ever got! (But at the time I definitely needed time to process it)

Baby dust to all xx

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 21:28

@Tophy124 I absolutely agree. I love my son more than anything and would have another him any day!
I'm closer with my in laws than my own family so its not always the case. Me and my mum are not close. If ever I need help or advice with my son I phoned my MIL. I don't worry about my son drifting, I just hope he marries a nice girl who I can get on well with, like I.do my MIL. But as you say, they're only 2. No need to worry just yet!

Any pregnancy is a blessing really. Gender disappointment is absolutely real, I just can't help but feel annoyed its always boys that get the stickπŸ™ˆ well i guess not always, i have a friend who really wanted a boy, but got a girl. It's just as dis heartening people keep saying "i bet you'd love a girl next" no, not necessarily, happy with either!

My DP really doesn't want a girl. I don't know why, I think he's secretly worried on how to bring up a girl and being too protective etc but we shall see.

Good luck to every body. You never know, some one here may have twins! Boy & girl 😊

Noggiepie92 · 04/09/2022 21:47

@LittleOne04 your story sounds the same as me, have been unprotected for 5 years and nothings happened yet.
We've had bouts of proper trying in the past but stopped for various reasons and now we're actively trying again.
Can 100% recommend the Clearblue digital OPKs (lilac coloured ones) as there's a lot less guesswork!
Baby dust to all πŸ’•

Tophy124 · 04/09/2022 21:56

@Cm078 Twins!! I used to really wish for twins and now I’d be in a total panic if I found out I was having them. I really wanted a boy/girl pair and then having one taught me that one baby at a time is probably my limit 🀣

Cm078 · 04/09/2022 22:05

@Tophy124 me tooπŸ˜‚ I was 2.5 when my siblings came along... twins!! I don't know how my parents managed. My DM was gutted apparently but they got through it and we all turned out ok πŸ™ˆ

Mummyme87 · 04/09/2022 22:19

no multiples for me please!! I mean I wouldn’t cope well at all but the pregnancy and births risks, just no thank you!

Tophy124 · 04/09/2022 22:27

@Cm078 oh my gosh!! So glad it all worked out. We live away from any family so even one is hard going sometimes, let alone 3 :0

@Mummyme87 That would be my concern too, as well as the extra money involved with having 2 needing things at the exact same time
