Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

Maybe the best advice for nosey people is to ask them?

β€˜Oh are you trying? Is that why you’re asking me?’ β€˜Have you been trying long?’

Ive been caught off guard and ended up oversharing and kicking myself before, so this will be my new line of defense. I like to remind people that I have severe endometriosis too so that they back off but persistent people will then start offering unsolicited advice.

I would NEVER ask someone when they are trying or offer any unsolicited advice around conception. It’s so bizarre and invasive.

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 14:31

I went to start OPK testing last night (already on day 11-13 based on my weird start to AF) but I bottled it. I’m worried I will become obsessive like I did last month.

Is it better to BD once a day or twice a day on predicted high fertility days? I got so confused when googling whether to BD every day or every other day too. Everything I’ve read says something different!

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 14:32

Just to add: fairly certain due to long cycle length that I will be out for this month and I don’t want to be too devastated if I get a peak OPK when my partner is away on his trip.

Cm078 · 02/09/2022 15:06

@Tophy124 I don't think it really matters how many times, I think it's luck of the draw really. I believe it's best to do every other day from what I've read but i don't think it would hurt every day. I'm going to stick with every other I think around fertile window, that's already pushing it. πŸ˜‚
Best of luck to you!! I'm CD 8 at the moment. No idea when I will ovulate as cycle before last was 36 days, this one was 30. No idea whats going on with my body!

FieldView · 02/09/2022 15:30

@Tophy124 there's no way we would be able to maintain twice a day for very long! We're going to aim for once every other day for the majority of the cycle, with a special effort to try once a day during the fertile window (well, most of it anyway). Got to give the little guys a chance to build their numbers back up! πŸ˜‚

MrsF111 · 02/09/2022 16:11

So hard not to symptom spot isn’t it!! Im 5dpo/6dpo possibly and have been getting really sharp cramps today and a bad headache. Praying it’s implantation but probably just noticing my normal cramps more because I’m thinking about it none stop!

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 17:38

Thank you @Cm078 and @FieldView

I think I will try once a day during the fertile window predicted on my app (will start OPKs tonight for the first time ever and hopefully haven’t already missed the peak).

otherwise will try every other day till he leaves for his trip. My partner is feeling the pressure off me already which never helps!

my app is predicting I’m in the fertile window now with predicted ovulation in 2 days so would my OPKS be looking dark already?

Bluejeanbaby91 · 02/09/2022 17:39

We've been going every day sometimes twice a day through the fertile window for the past four cycles and it's made no difference for us! I really do think it's luck of the draw!

Mummyme87 · 02/09/2022 18:03

@Tophy124 not necessarily dark, I get a quick surge generally

Cm078 · 02/09/2022 18:05

@Tophy124 Try not to let the pressure get too much for you both. With my first I found the month I didn't do opks and relaxed a little was the month it happened! I was still aware of when I'd be most fertile but i didn't check etc.
I'm going to do the same this time. 🀞
Really hope you get your BFP this cycle. Is this your first or?

OK so I researched this and from the data there wasn't much in it. Don't quote me as I can't remember the exact figures but it was something like 33% for successful cycle BD every other day in fertile period and 36% successful daily Bd in fertile period.

What’s BD?

im the same and am not doing it this much but am trying to DTD any way we can!

BiscuitLover3678 · 02/09/2022 21:15

I also hate the questions - so hard to know what to say. Thankfully most people are really sensitive and don’t ask me but I’ve had the odd one. Funnily enough with my ds I had friends ask me the day after my positive pregnancy test! Obviously that was a much more positive time for me but I was so flustered (and had such high mc anxiety) I don’t know what I even said!

Someone else asked me recently and I said oh yes it’s on the cards and then kept asking more. Ugh.

it’s weird as I would never think badly of someone TTC but when it’s you it can feel so sensitive and it’s so hard not to blame yourself

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 21:59

@BiscuitLover3678 oh god can totally imagine it! Totally, I don’t get what people gain from asking. Sometimes it’s pretty obvious people will be trying for another if they already have one of a certain age and have maybe said before that they’d want two, but I just don’t get how people can bring themselves to ask πŸ™ˆ I feel like since getting married recently I make such a big effort to have a drink everywhere we go to make the point that I’m not πŸ˜‚ I also kinda think I should make the most of it before I can’t again at some point!

@Tophy124 I think the stress of twice a day would probably outweigh the benefits for me and end up stopping me ovulating or something. We did it twice some days the last time and it became such a chore. I used to literally dread getting in my bed at night and remembering I couldn’t just go to sleep πŸ˜‚ I think it was just the fact you knew you were doing it for a reason too. I’m going to try this time and aim for every second day and not start as early as we did last time.

I’m the same with having a drink!

ohh so BD is basically sex? Oh wait it’s baby dance πŸ˜‚ I do know this!

omg we struggle every day have never managed twice! πŸ˜‚ im impressed! I’ll use the fact I have a toddler as an excuse.

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 23:46

Ignore me using acronyms as I use them and often get them wrong!

Is anyone else considering a social media break? Even my much loved hobby groups are flooded with pregnancy announcements (even tho it’s a craft group or recipe group etc).

I can be happy for people and not need to see it all the time! I’m fine talking to my besties who are heavily pregnant, but something about seeing constant birth announcements on social media is really getting to me.

Someone asked a few pages back and I’m TTC #2. I have a nearly 2yr old who is amazing! I have severe endometriosis so have the deep fear it won’t happen again for us. We also are both carriers for a serious genetic disorder so conception/pregnancy/childbirth is a stressful time for us.

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 23:47

Also we also struggle to get to once a day! Don’t want anyone thinking I’ve cracked the code haha. I frequently am way too tired, can’t be bothered, watching TV don’t disturb me etc.

Mummyme87 · 03/09/2022 06:20

I’m always so tired, sex is often a massive chore. The kids waking up at 6am every morning πŸ₯΄πŸ˜΄
CD7. I’m going to start OPKing today

Mayfield87 · 03/09/2022 12:33

@Mummyme87 this is totally me and I also have thyroid issues so most nights I'm in bed by 9! And hubby works shifts so it's trying to plan BD around all that πŸ™ˆπŸ€ͺ

Mine always comes in throughout the night so have limited time. And when we DTD I get to bed later so really need to pick and choose!

I think you got it right I just completely forgot the acronym!

I get so tired as well.

Tophy124 · 03/09/2022 15:23

I have EWCM today (yay! As I don’t think I had any last month) and my partner isn’t in the mood. Trying to back off but I could cry! I hate feeling like I’m adding pressure.

anotherpotoftea · 03/09/2022 15:27

@Tophy124 my heart went out to you reading that - I’m so sorry, sending un-mumsnetty hugs your way.

We have been struggling a bit with the pressure - trying to relax but I feel like a ticking clock with a person attached right now.

It’s been good relaxing on holiday and I keep hoping we might’ve conceived while here but I’m so unsure what is going on with my cycle.

Think I need to start OPKs. GP’s advice was just to DTD lots but it’s easier said than done as DH often works late nights. We’re trying to make the most of being on holiday but we’re also knackered!

Tophy124 · 03/09/2022 15:51

@anotherpotoftea Definitely makes it harder with a partner that works funny shifts or is away often, long hours, basically anything that gets in the way of a good routine.

I tracked my CM when TTC my first and it really helped!

Mummyme87 · 03/09/2022 16:09

@Mayfield87 yes I work shifts and I’m not DTD on those days πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
