Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

Hello! πŸ–Can I join in? On attempt #7 (since counting) and have some blood tests lined up this month too but hoping to not need them........ CD9 (but don't normally ovulate until 17/18) .. Going for a more relaxed approach this month as last month was a bit intense and more disappointing than usual as a result!

Alpacabag22 · 01/09/2022 17:21

Very true,at least I can enjoy a G&T this weekend, guilt free! And yes, I'm sure ( I hope) one day I'm looking back on these months thinking I should've enjoyed it while it lasted! Hope you get your BFP soon 🀞

LavenderWillow · 01/09/2022 18:45

It’s definitely good to have things planned and look at it as a positive if you don’t get your bfp!
this month we have 30th parties and a holiday away to Portugal so when I was in the TWW we were coming up with plans (everyone would be all over me if I wasn’t drinking! πŸ˜‚) and it was going to be a logistical nightmare on holiday with friends, so when AF came it felt good to know we can enjoy the next month stress free!

Summerbreeze111 · 01/09/2022 20:47

To those that asked I use the amazon, easy at home opks and then use the premom app to Interpret the results!

Currently at 0.53 so definately getting nearer to a peak reading woohoo! (For those that don't know 1.00+ is usually peak!)

@Summerbreeze111 I use the one step OPK’s (along with the dual hormone CB ones) and also the pre mom app, I find it really good πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

Mummyme87 · 01/09/2022 21:19

CD5 and AF now finished. Will start OPK on Saturday (CD7) as I Ov between CD11-15.

Sparklythings1 · 01/09/2022 21:47

Happy September 😊 here’s hoping this is the month for lots of us!

Its so mad when you think about it and see how long people have been trying, you think how can it just work one month and not others? There is sooo much to it but you just have to hope it’s your month. I remember being terrified of getting all excited then realising it was a chemical the last time.. maybe I’ll try not to test so quickly this time πŸ™ˆ we’ll see if I can stop myself! Even if it’s positive, the later you find out the better it is too as it’s less time to hide it from people at work etc. Last time I found out in the morning before work and just wanted to shout it at anyone who spoke to me that day πŸ˜‚

Sparklythings1 · 01/09/2022 22:26

Also.. totally noticed since even thinking about trying again… how many times people mention stuff about being pregnant/ trying to get pregnant/ other people being pregnant/ asking will you have another one? / when you have another baby etc etc. I remember it kept happening last time and I felt like my face gave it away every time πŸ™ˆ since returning to work after maternity leave I’ve been outright asked by quite a few people if I’m planning to have another. It doesn’t bother me as nothing bad has happened to me so I have no reason to feel awkward but they have no way of knowing I’ve not just had a miscarriage or something, can’t imagine how uncomfortable that would make you feel πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Having one definitely just opens the flood gates to these comments

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 01:38

Hey everyone!!

Jumping back on to the thread. I had a horrible AF which stopped and started and was so bizarre I thought I may be getting a BFP. Then the AF from hell hit full blown on holiday and I had a leak for the first time in years despite wearing 2 pads! Sorry for the TMI but it was so scary and awful. I cried my eyes out after having to dash from the lunch venue it happened in. So embarrassing and I had really got my hopes up.

wishing baby dust for all xx

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 01:41

@Sparklythings1 I agree with you.

A friend asked me outright recently and I felt accosted honestly. I try not to ask anyone any questions like that, even people I know really well. It’s none of my business and rarely impacts my life if someone else has a baby and it has such potential to be a devastating question. I wish it wasn’t normalized to just ask people!

Tophy124 · 02/09/2022 01:47

I’m officially on cycle #2 but I have a strong feeling I ovulate late and my DH is going away for a week right when I expect to ovulate. Not hopeful for this month.

anyone else have a partner that works away often? It makes BD very hard to organize!

Mummyme87 · 02/09/2022 06:37

We talk a lot about having babies at work, but we are midwives so comes with the territory. And most of us are very open about it all, with majority knowing how sensitive a subject it is. We also often tell each other super early about pregnancy 😬

FieldView · 02/09/2022 07:32

@Tophy124 yep, I actually work away a lot which definitely makes TTC a bit trickier! Sorry to hear you had an awful AF experience. Have you recently come off the pill or anything? I think it can take a while for things to level out

afinethingindeed · 02/09/2022 07:33

Thanks for the tips on the OPKs and apps. I've been using the Flo app which i don't really like tbh - you have to interpret the OPK result on a sliding scale and you only get negative or positive results. Rubbish. Definitely using Premom next month and ordering some new OPKs.

I couldn't resist testing this morning. BFN. I'm not actually due on until Tuesday so it's ridiculously early I know! Wish I knew either way so I knew if I could have a glass of wine tonight lol

FieldView · 02/09/2022 07:48

@afinethingindeed I use Flo too and I don't think it's particularly useful. It's better now my cycle length has settled down, but I think it's predicted ovulation at the wrong time in the past. I pay less attention to it now and am just planning on dtd more regularly throughout my cycle this time and using the clearblue opks. Lots of people still have the odd drink during the tww if you fancied one today!

I agree with you! People are way way too invasive and think they can ask questions like 'are you trying?' and expect an answer. I even had my brother in law accost me and ask 'when are you giving us a baby' a few months ago and this was after my husband took him to the side and told him these types of comments are unacceptable. I had to stop myself from crying at the dinner table. It's so hurtful.

FieldView · 02/09/2022 09:18

@Sparklythings1 definitely agree with you! People don't seem to appreciate that's it's not an appropriate topic of conversation! I was getting badgered by my mum left right and centre until I had a miscarriage - she doesn't mention it now (every cloud has a silver lining!)

Summerbreeze111 · 02/09/2022 10:32

@FieldView @WannabeMum22 @Sparklythings1

I had this recently, I went for a walk and a coffee with a friend, and she asked me outright 'so when will you try for a baby, must be soon then now you've just bought your house?' I managed to avoid the question as there was some noise that distracted us so I pretended I hadn't heard, but then she went on to ask the same question again about 10 mins later..again, I made excuses about being with the house, and you wouldn't believe it she asked me again but more probing.. 'so when do you think you still start trying?, by the end of the year? Does partners name* want to have a baby this year? I ended up admitting that we did want to start trying by the end of the year but I was kicking myself after, I really felt pushed into a corner and ended up spilling more than I wanted to really. Do you think that's normal behaviour? It's really baffled me to this day and it was quite a few months ago now!

MrsF111 · 02/09/2022 11:54

People asking infuriates me! I just want to shout at them β€œactually I’ve had 2 misscarraiges and spent the last 2 years battling with my mental health as a result but thanks for the reminder” but instead you just end up smiling and changing the subject, if only I was braver!

FieldView · 02/09/2022 12:15

@MrsF111 totally!! My stock answer is laughing it off with a "we're working on it" and then changing the subject!

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 12:33

@MrsF111 oh no, that must be tough to deal with!

@Summerbreeze111 it’s so weird! We recently got married, more just so we can all have the same name than anything, but I feel like that’s another reason people are like β€˜oh when’s the next one then?’ πŸ™„ I remember being in the midst of trying last time (after only a few months of negatives but feels horrendous at the time as you assume the worst) and someone at work was talking about the flu vaccine and how you can’t get them anywhere. I was agreeing. Another girl who had just had a baby piped up that I should just get pregnant and then you get given it automatically. I so nearly snapped πŸ˜‚

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 12:34

@FieldView oh no 😞 the fact it’s happened to multiple people on this thread though and everyone now knows how sadly common miscarriages are, why do people still think it’s any of their business to ask?!

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 12:36

@WannabeMum22 ☹️ It’s when you’re out on the spot like that you need to come up with something but just feel like crying and it can be so obvious. Even when I’ve held peoples newborns I’ve literally been asked every time, β€˜oh does that make you want another one?’.. so what is it to you if it does? πŸ˜‚

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 12:38

@Tophy124 totally! Same with the thing of people not drinking and people making a comment on that. If they were pregnant and wanted to tell you, they would tell you! My MIL is really bad for these questions, I am due to start just saying a very blunt answer, I’m always far too soft

FieldView · 02/09/2022 13:03

Hopefully there will be lots of bfps on this thread and that'll shut half the busy bodies up!
