Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

@allgoodthings84 I have a similar issue to you:spotting before AF (for about 3 years now). I also for past year have had extremely heavy periods (huge amount of big clots-TMI). I actually went to emergency lately as my Gyno was on holiday and I was so worried. However they couldn't find anything abnormal in scans and smears but told me it sounds like I could have endometriosis and that I would need to have surgery to check (which I need to go to my gyno for). So I have appointment with gyno in October. I will keep you posted and would be lovely if you would do the same. The spotting is extremely frustrating as it is around the same time as implantation bleeding would be, which I think makes the TWW even more of a rollercoaster. :(

LucyFraser1981 · 31/08/2022 20:47

@LavenderWillow I'm CD2 as well, how long are your cycles usually? πŸ™‚

allgoodthings84 · 31/08/2022 21:01

@SpringTulips22 I will definitely keep you updated. I don’t have extra heavy periods, I don’t think so anyway. I have 1.5-2 heavier days which have a few small clots then 2 lighter days no clots and 1 barely there day. The spotting is so light and not every time I wipe but as soon as I hit 10dpo I know it’s coming. It was 9dpo but I started taking daily vit c and b12 complex with added vit d and it went to 10dpo for last 2 cycles. I want them to take my bloods and see if I need to go back into b12 injections. I used to have to have them years ago as my levels were barely existent. It’s probably not that but would like it checked. I’m fairly certain I’m ovulating as I get positive OPK then next day some ovulation pains and my resting heart rate goes up and starts to slightly fall again 2 days before AF (just like temps when doing bbt) then it’s back to lower levels half way through AF.

I’m only on cycle 4 but I just keep thinking it must be a problem surely? Surely it can’t implant properly if the lining is coming away even if it’s only a little bit?

anotherpotoftea · 31/08/2022 21:05

Sorry for my mis-tagging there!

We are off on holiday tomorrow and hoping a bit of relaxation helps us.

Allgoodthings1 · 31/08/2022 21:05

@Mayfield87 πŸ˜‚ sooo annoying! I think you’re technically meant to wait on the first proper period after that, I didn’t last time but I’m going to this time as I have a race (running) at the end of September. Just hoping it’s not 40 days like it was when we tried for number 1! I decided just to do the opks from this month (it gives me something to do πŸ˜‚) then next cycle I should know exactly when to start β€˜trying’

allgoodthings84 · 31/08/2022 21:06

@anotherpotoftea have an amazing holiday! That should definitely help take your mind off things

@anotherpotoftea hello! Good to see another "geriatric" in here TTC! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜…
That's good your GP will start investigations if needed, mine have said no help at all as I'm over 40 and already have my son. The only blood test they'll do is to check ovulation on day 22 (29 day cycle), so I've accepted that even though I'm fairly sure I'm ovulating okay as I do my BBT charts. I've actually arranged to talk to a fertility clinic next week to see about getting a few other blood tests to check egg levels etc. My grandmother had my Dad when she was 45 in 1951 (he was a massive surprise!), so hoping I've inherited her robust eggs πŸ˜…πŸ€ž

Sorry to hear your GP isn’t so helpful, it really does seem to be pot luck. Hope it goes well with the clinic and what an amazing story about your grandma and your dad!

anotherpotoftea · 31/08/2022 21:07

Mayfield87 · 31/08/2022 20:37

@Allgoodthings1 I'm exactly the same, just finished my bleed from the pill withdrawal. I've bought OPKs and have the apps but also wanted to play it cool and just see how it goes- I'm such a control freak though πŸ˜‚ I was the same when I was trying for DS1 πŸ™ˆ

Also starting after the withdrawal bleed - theoretically this is now CD15 but no idea what to expect from my cycles any more

Allgoodthings1 · 31/08/2022 21:07

@SpringTulips22 ahh that’s annoying, so do you need to wait until after the appointment to start trying or are you just trying anyway?

Allgoodthings1 · 31/08/2022 21:09

@anotherpotoftea are you just going for it this cycle or holding off until the proper period? I tried this cycle last time (didn’t work 🀣) although I don’t think I started the opks until cycle 2 or cycle 3 (the one we conceived our son on)

anotherpotoftea · 31/08/2022 21:23

We are just going for it! I know we should wait but am not getting any younger

Allgoodthings1 · 31/08/2022 21:27

@anotherpotoftea I don’t see any harm in trying! If I didn’t need to be not pregnant at the end of the month I’d be joining you πŸ˜‚ as soon as this first period is over I will be ready to go! It’s the two week wait that goes by sooo slowly and I’m dreading having to go through that all again, possibly multiple times πŸ™„ but it’s so exciting on these threads when you see people getting their BFP every day 😊

LavenderWillow · 31/08/2022 21:41

@LucyFraser1981 my cycles vary - they are usually around 30 days, although I’ve had two cycles this year be 36 days when I travelled to the US - must have delayed ovulation!
ovulated cd18 last month which was first month tracking, so will see if I can see a pattern appearing!

im sorry your GP is no help, must be hard!

Lexlum · 31/08/2022 21:52

Hi,

Can I please join in too? I'm in cycle #1 TTC #1. I'm currently in the TWW.

Ive been using OPK this month and taking Pregnacare.

There is only 10-11 days between my ovulation and AF. Is this normal? It doesn't seem like a lot of time!

Sending lots of baby dust to everyone!

LucyFraser1981 · 31/08/2022 21:54

@LavenderWillow ah ok, so we'll be very close then as mine are 29. It's definitely interesting to track things, I love data, so it really appeals to me. I usually ovulate bang in the middle I think, around 13/14/15, but I've not had any international long haul flights to confuse things!

Yes, not great really. Seems a postcode lottery as the NHS website suggested we'd get a little help, but apparently not πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜•

Noggiepie92 · 31/08/2022 23:05

@Lexlum welcome! I noticed my cycle was shorter when taking pregnacare and i think it's a pretty common issue- did you have a shorter cycle before taking the tablets? That could be the issue maybe?

Lexlum · 01/09/2022 06:20

@Noggiepie92 that's good to know thanks! I am usually 28 days although I haven't really kept a close eye on dates before TTC so could be slightly out!

SpringTulips22 · 01/09/2022 06:35

@allgoodthings84 i totally know what you mean re shedding, I've had the exact same thought! Ah, that is interesting about the B12. I've never heard of that before. FX for you! Keep us posted.

And @Allgoodthings1 yes, I'm just trying anyway. I know some people with endometriosis can get pregnant naturally, and I figure whether I do or don't fall pregnant before then, at least I will have something to share with the gyno RE TTC. I also don't want to wait longer and potentially jeopardize chances further. I have made some diet and lifestyle changes which have helped make periods slightly better, and hope that they will also help with TTC.

Allgoodthings1 · 01/09/2022 09:59

I’m going to do a name change.. only just noticed the huge similarity between my name and another poster πŸ˜‚ will be back with a new name

Alpacabag22 · 01/09/2022 10:18

Hello,
Long term lurker, furst time poster here. My partner & I have been trying for 3 cycles so far which I know is not long. Had a chemical pregnancy in first month which was a bit of a knock after the initial excitement.

AF arrived today and feeling rather blue after getting my hopes up due to what felt like balloon boobs for 2 weeks!

I don't really have a question, just finding the emotional ups and downs of TTC way tougher than I'd expected. Especially the week before my period is due, I find myself obsessively googling, staring at my Flo app like it's going to suddenly flash up to announce I'm pregnant. I have endless internal monologue of whether to test or just wait for period. I feel like I'm driving myself crazy!

Anyone found good ways to stays level during TCC? I'm not great at yoga, meditation etc! Or even if no tips perhaps good to know others feeling the same.

Thanks folks 😊

Pepilachat · 01/09/2022 11:21

Hi @Alpacabag22

I am in a very similar situation, cycle 3 with a chemical last week and feel like I could have written that post myself! Feel like TTC has now taken over my life and I struggle to think of much else.

My only advice (which my husband is trying and failing to give me!) is to find a fun project (I am taking on some extra interesting things at work) or jump right into seeing lots of friends who are a way off TTC. I am thinking of starting an art course, but we are also trying to save money so considering whether this is worth it.

But outside of advice, I am more replying to let you know that I am definitely with you on the difficulties, and hope we can all get through this without driving ourselves mad!

Alpacabag22 · 01/09/2022 11:56

Aw thanks for writing back. Sorry to hear about your chemical, that's rough ❀

I think your idea to try distracting yourself is a good one. I recently picked up some cheap art supplies, just thought I'd give painting ago since I'm not coordinated enough for crafts like knitting! Have found it quite relaxing. I'm also trying to always have something lined up for weekend after my period is due so I don't just sit and ruminate.

I really hope you get your BFP soon and in the meantime manage to enjoy life as much as possible 😊

Mays12 · 01/09/2022 12:01

@Alpacabag22 I can totally relate to this and it actually took me be surprise how hard I would find everything! It's like all logic just goes out of the window!

I'm onto cycle 7 and I find that having some plans in the diary for the week or so after my period is due (usually involving drinking or things you cant do when pregnant) seems to help. It means that when AF does arrive I think well at least I can enjoy my plans fully now and if I did end up pregnant I would be too happy to be bothered I have to stay sober or cancel plans.

Its probably less realistic for people who already have children but I just try and remember that it will happen one day and I will probably be glad I had those last few months to just live my child free life hahah!

Cm078 · 01/09/2022 12:01

Hi everyone. Can I join? I'm new here so still learning how to use MN

Taking the plunge and ttc #2. DS is 2.5, didn't take us too long to convince him. In fact, the month I said let's chill out this month because we were due to go on holiday the following month was the month we conceived.

Currently on CD7. NOT

Cm078 · 01/09/2022 12:02

Sorry posted too quickly! Not going to track ovulation this time, as found once we'd stopped tracking was the month it happened. Fingers crossed for everybody!
