Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

@Tophy124 I'm sorry for your bnfs. I have a feeling I'll be with you! Not due on until Saturday/sunday ish. Did a cheapy today, just because but bfn. Bit early I know but it's hard to resist isn't it. No more now unless AF doesn't show.
Expensive business!
🀞 this cycle will be yours.

Wrenegade · 20/09/2022 16:54

@NSx wishing you lots of luck this cycle!
I just read up on the SMEP method, I wonder what the benefit is of every other day? We were intending to start DTD on CD7 and every day afterwards until the day after ovulation which should be CD 15. So very similar to your plan for this month!

NSx · 20/09/2022 16:59

@Wrenegade i think the plan is every other day until positive OPK so u don’t miss any opportunity - it didn’t work for me πŸ˜‚ let’s see if this method works πŸ˜‚

thanks - sending baby dust to you also ✨✨ let’s hope this is our month …

@Tophy124 sorry for your BFN - I’m 7dpo so I’ll be right behind u I’m sure πŸ₯²

ChloeN · 20/09/2022 17:27

@NSx when I fell pregnant before (ended in mmc thoπŸ˜₯) I only dtd once in the fertile window. I wasn’t well so wasn’t in the mood really so I was very shocked to be pregnant!
This cycle I’ve done it loads more so feel like I deserve to be pregnant this time 🀣 I’m 8dpo so still she’s till I test!

FieldView · 20/09/2022 17:38

Hi @Tophy124 sorry you're getting mixed results! I'm no expert, but my understanding is that if a second line appears after the recommended wait time, it can be an evap line or something? Have you got any more tests to check with fmu in a day or two? Maybe you implanted lay and the levels aren't quite there yet to give you a second line within the time? Sending baby dust!

And congrats to all the recent bfps. It's lovely seeing them all come in!

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 17:41

Hope you don’t mind me jumping in!
Me and hubby have been indecisive about ttc number 4, but only last week really decided that we’ll start trying.
I got a static smiley on Saturday nearly midnight on Sunday. Which would have been cycle day very nearly 15.
Typically DH wasn’t home until yesterday cycle day 16 so we dtd straight away.
Clearblue digi OPK was still showing the static but it was 36 hours in!
And only dtd once so I’m almost certainly sure that I can expect AF on 5th October.
I think I Od yesterday as I always get O pain when I ov from the left, strange as I never get it when Oing from the right, but I’m pretty certain it was yesterday am.
So I’m counting today as 1dpo and have plenty of frer so I can start testing at maybe 13dpo.
Sending lots of babydust to everyone

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 17:50

@Tophy124 sorry to be jumping in as a newby!
My understanding is, that being stressed will only delay your AF if you were stressed mid cycle during O.
Luteal phase is pretty much fixed and only delayed O will cause your AF to be delayed, so if it is late and you don’t get a BFF then you can be almost certain that you Od later than you think you did.
I think that’s why it’s recommended to carry on dtd after pos OPK in case you don’t actually O until a few days later.
Stress can directly impact hormones which is why stress is linked to delayed O

NSx · 20/09/2022 17:56

@ChloeN when I fell pregnant in feb - I only DTD 3 times - 2 days before and day of ovulation & it worked by second cycle - now I’m on cycle 3 and DTD a lot and nothing, but I don’t want to hardly DTD and then get a negative and feel I could have done more.. does that make any sense ?
im 7dpo so just behind you 1 day, will you test?

ChloeN · 20/09/2022 18:00

@NSx yes 100%! I know I don’t need to dtd everyday but I missed the day after ovulation and felt like total crap and blamed myself and starting thinking that was my one chance missed!
I waited for late period last time but I don’t know what to do this time… I don’t feel pregnant so might just rest early and get it over with rather than hold on to the hope for my period to come! What about you? X

NSx · 20/09/2022 18:57

@ChloeN i don’t know. I’ll wait and see if I have any signs πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ last time I had various signs - if nothing I won’t test til after AF, I have some cheap tests so will probably do one of them first and see πŸ˜‚ again I’m not holding my breath as I feel nothing even tho it’s still early I know I just can’t see it happening. πŸ₯² …
it’s always someone else and not me πŸ₯Ή

Sparklythings1 · 20/09/2022 19:32

@Londonlady22 the clearblue ovulation ones are more exciting in my opinion because you get an empty face then a flashing smiley then a static smiley on your peak day. It gets to the stage you feel like it’s a pregnancy test almost since you’re so excited that it’s eventually gone static πŸ˜‚ they’re so expensive compared to the easy at home ones so I haven’t got sucked into them this time! All they do is compare your initial reading with the reading the next day and the next day and so on. So it’s only the same as what you could do yourself by looking at a cheap opk. The other thing they can’t do is pinpoint it exactly since you’re only doing them in the morning then no more til the next day. I did them alongside the cheapies last time and they were both in agreement to about 12 hours of each other but I was able to catch the peak exactly with the cheap ones!

Tophy124 · 20/09/2022 19:40

@Mannymoomin Annoyingly my husband went away the exact day after I ovulated and left at 4am so no DTD. I suspect I do ovulate later than the appt thinks and that my peak maybe wasn’t a true peak or something. Will be tracking more carefully this month, tho we are in the middle of an awful house move where our new house has significant water damage so we can’t move in and are stuck in temp accommodation.

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 20:00

@Tophy124 it’s interesting because I bought 2 boxes of the clearblue digi and I got static smiley end of cycle day 14, I know once you pos your supposed to stop testing but I did test again a whole 24hrs later, end of cycle day 15, with the new test holder, it still showed static smiley.
I personally must have a very long LH surge.
With the first pos OPK the test line wasn’t quite as strong as control line but the second test 24hrs later the test line was significantly stronger than control line.
So I think my first test was start of the surge and second one was the absolute peak. But if I went by that then I’d have 3days of peak.
I think it may actually be easier to use cheap OPKs and continue to test so I can catch peak and then watch it go back down to confirm O.
And if I do that next cycle I’ve just wasted £££ on expensive clearblue digi tests.
all very confusing and I’ve had 5 pregnancies and 3 babies so I should be a pro πŸ˜‚

jessie92 · 20/09/2022 20:19

Hi everyone, have been a bit absent on here as been away - congrats to all the bfp! πŸŽ‰
have had a bit of a weird thing happen this cycle (sorry if tmi). Am currently on cd15 and since last night have been spotting. Have not had this before but read it could be relating to ovulation spotting- has anyone else had this? Seems a weird thing to happen at an important time of the month!

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 20:24

@jessie92 personally be never had ovulation spotting.
I have had spotting mid cycle and after dtd in the past though which after evaluation turned out to be cervical ectropian which is also a very common reason for random spotting

ChloeN · 20/09/2022 20:25

@jessie92 never had it personally but seen some ttc ladies on tiktok mention they’d had it around ovulation!

jessie92 · 20/09/2022 20:28

Thanks @Mannymoomin i hadn’t heard of that before, was that something you needed treatment for? Did you continue spotting for a few days?
interesting @ChloeN ! I haven’t had it before either so was slightly confused x

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 20:33

@jessie92 i was offered treatment but declined it.
I had it on and offer for around 7years and it eventually sorted itself out.
Its not harmful at all and doesn’t impact conception, I think they like to treat it though so any other spotting doesn’t get overlooked.
I have definitely heard of ov spotting though, just not personally experienced it.
I do get ov pain when I ovulate from the left though. Never feel it from the right. Bodies are weird, wonderful and bloody unpredictable

jessie92 · 20/09/2022 20:43

Thanks @Mannymoomin ! Glad to hear it sorted itself out for you x

TulipVictory · 20/09/2022 20:46

@Mannymoomin I'm in exactly the same boat as you! I am still not 100% certain about whether #4 is completely right for us but we are going to go for it I think. We have missed ovulation this month now though πŸ€”

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 20:50

@TulipVictory my youngest is 11 years old and It’s taken dh a long time to convince me.
We’ve spoken about it a lot over the last 6 months and I’ve considered it and then quickly changed my mind, but I’m finding myself cooing and getting broody over babies again so hopefully I don’t change my mind again next month

TulipVictory · 20/09/2022 20:55

@Mannymoomin you never know, it's a big decision isn't it. All the best 😊

Mannymoomin · 20/09/2022 21:04

@TulipVictory it really is! I always felt I had that done feeling, but that feeling isn’t there now which makes me think baby 4 is the right decision for us.
Anyhow I don’t think dtd once mid way through cycle 1 is enough so I’m not investing myself for this month, and dh will definitely be looking forward to lots of BD next month
