Hi everyone ☺️

I am a bit eager with this thread, I've just started my dreaded period (feel a little glum to be honest!) and I have been ovulating quite late, so if by a miracle I am successful this month I would be due end of may/early June. I have been dipping in and out of these threads and found them fantastic support so I hope you don't mind me carrying on the trend!

I am going into cycle 4, I am 31 and were trying for our first πŸ‘ΆπŸ»I suffered a chemical pregnancy recently and I feel SO ready to become pregnant, I want this so badly, as I am sure you all do too!

I was trawling through some old threads and found these facts that I found useful , feel free to read if you like πŸ˜™

  1. 80% of couples having regular sex (2/3 times a week) with no issues will fall pregnant in a year.
  2. 90% of couples having regular sex with no issues will fall pregnant in two years.
3.Each cycle you have approx 20% chance of falling pregnant. 4.The egg only lives for 24 hours so very small window to fertilise it 5.Decent sperm can live up to 5 days inside you so good to have sex before you think you ovulate as well as after. 6.If using ovulation testing the test picks up on Lh surge which often happens after the egg has been released. 7.Most NHS CCG will not investigate fertility problems until you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year and some places insists for two years. 8.If you track your Basel body temperature it can give you a good indication of when you ovulate to get to know your cycles.
  1. Some types of lube can damage sperm be careful what you are using. (We are using preseed but using it like normal lube, not inserting it prior!)

Wishing you all the luck in world for this cycle 🀞🀞🀞🀞🀞

@anotherpotoftea I use the easy at home from
Amazon, they've never failed me and they're quite cheap plus you get so many so they last a while!
I did have the clear blue digital too but honestly they're so expensive for what you get and if you're testing am and pm in that timeframe where you expect to ovulate you go through a whole pack!

I have a book I stick mine in to chart progression too so I find strip tests much easier!

That’s the one I was thinking of getting - think I’m going to order, thank you. Love the book idea!

Tophy124 · 08/09/2022 16:54

@anotherpotoftea I also had the easy at home OPKs along with the Premom app to help me keep it all organized. It also helps with the interpretation. I’ve posted a few pics in the thread you can hopefully see to show you how it works. X

The pictures are super helpful, thank you!

I’ve ordered the Easy @ Home ones. I figure at least then I’ll have some idea if I’m ovulating hopefully. Doing this β€˜blind’ feels increasingly pointless!

LavenderWillow · 08/09/2022 18:23

Welcome newcomers! Let’s hope we can be as successful as the May thread!

@Tophy124 just bought a colouring book to help distract me in my next TWW, last time I spent all my time scrolling on here and googling β€˜X DPO symptoms’ every day! πŸ˜‚

@anotherpotoftea i started with the opks straight away and I’m glad I did, I use the clue app to track my cycles since coming off the pill last year and it was way early for my predicted ovulation.
when I put in my cycle data into Premom it also predicted my ovulation about 3/4 days earlier than when I got my surge - so I’m glad I went off the tests and not the predictions on the app!

Tophy124 · 08/09/2022 21:08

@anotherpotoftea So according to my app I would have ovulated today and had my peak yesterday. But according to Premom I actually had my peak on Sunday or Monday. I wasn’t going to bother trying this month as my partner is away right now, but glad I did the OPKs as we tried just incase before he left. So I think they are helpful! I didn’t use them when TTC #1 and it took us 5 months! (Using apps alone)

@LavenderWillow Its hard isn’t it. I ordered my gratitude journal and there’s lots of good TV on at the moment and I’m moving house next week, so hoping this month goes quick!

I feel a bit more chill this month but I know that will probably change again as AF approaches. Already I find myself symptom spotting! Trying to remember my symptoms with my son and implantation bleeding definitely happened x

Sparklythings1 · 09/09/2022 00:03

cd17 here on first post-pill cycle so not trying but just tracking anyway out of interest.. opks still showing 0.2 or around there but no hint of anything above it. Hoping tomorrow is the day but if not I don’t think I’ve ovulated this month, done multiple tests every day and nothing πŸ™„ I use the easy at home ones with premom app too

Tophy124 · 09/09/2022 01:48

@Sparklythings1 Are you holding your wee for a few hours first?

Fingers crossed you’re going to ovulate soon and just be a later date in the cycle xx

Mummyme87 · 09/09/2022 06:46

CD13 today. I ran out of easy@home OPK and got some from boots which weren’t as good. I think I had my peak yesterday but didn’t quite catch it due to dodge OPK and being at work. I’m 48hr since a static smiley on CB digi now aswell. I suspect today is probably ovulation day (like frozen β€˜it’s coronation day!’ Or in my case β€˜it’s ovulation day’ πŸ˜‚)

my easy@home have arrived now so done one this am to see, it’s still developing but looks lighter

cavebaby · 09/09/2022 07:45

@Sparklythings1 Your first cycle/s off the pill can be very irregular so you could still be a way off ovulation. One of my post pill cycles was over 50 days which would have put ovulation at nearly 40 days in ConfusedTry not to drive yourself crazy with OPKs whilst your body is still settling back into its monthly cycle, you probably won't learn a huge amount from tracking ovulation until you're back in a regular cycle.

Firsttimetrying2022 · 09/09/2022 08:41

I'm still quite new to this so wanted to see if anyone here knows the answer to this.

Im 2/3 dpo and still waiting for BBT to confirm the exact date but had a peak CB Digital OPK on Tuesday so I reckon I ovulated on Wednesday.

I bought two FRERs yesterday and just wonder what the earliest day I should test is. I was thinking Friday next week which would be 9dpo. Is that too soon for a positive?

LavenderWillow · 09/09/2022 10:01

@Sparklythings1 keep testing, my first time I peaked CD19 so might just be taking your body to get back into the swing!

@Firsttimetrying2022 your bbt should rise sharply the day after ovulation and stay high, if you haven’t seen that yet the you may not have ovulated? Bbt can be a bit funny though and can vary so much.

I tested at 9 DPO and 10/11 and was BFN and felt really deflated - period came the next day. I’m going to try to hold out till 12 DPO this cycle I think!

Firsttimetrying2022 · 09/09/2022 10:08

@LavenderWillow I use NC to track my cycle and I have seen a rise in temperature but it takes the algorithm a few days to confirm so just waiting for that. I'm quite regular with ovulation normally CD15+/- 1 day so I'm pretty confident I ovulated either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanks for the recommendation I will try to hold out a bit before I test, maybe even try to wait until AF is due although I'm quite impatient πŸ˜…

Sparklythings1 · 09/09/2022 10:20

@Tophy124 yes not drinking too much and just doing the same as I did last time I used them. There was a hint of it going up when it was 0.37 the other day, have done multiple a day but no other ones have been higher than 0.2 at all πŸ€”

Sparklythings1 · 09/09/2022 10:22

@cavebaby yeah I did think that. I think it was the same last time, from memory I thought it was 40 days I waited but I checked back in my app and it says 32 days so I was kind of hoping it might be no longer than that πŸ™ˆ can’t try this month anyway as I have things on at the end of the month I can’t be pregnant at but hoping my period comes and I can get on with the next cycle

Sparklythings1 · 09/09/2022 10:26

I’m in a really stressful job that I hate so even though I’d be doing myself out of maternity pay, I think I’m going to quit this month. There’s no guarantee il be pregnant next month or the next month etc anyway but I feel like part of my desperation for it to happen asap is because I want to go off work on mat leave. Hopefully by quitting and doing other things I will relax and take the pressure off myself. Life’s too short to dread your work this much πŸ˜”

TulipVictory · 09/09/2022 13:08

@Sparklythings1 can you afford to be off of work? I'm very tempted with my job and doing bank work but would lose mat leave 😏

WannabeMum22 · 09/09/2022 14:11

Hi everyone, just caught up with the thread. I've been a bit absent as my cousin is getting married this week (great ttc distraction!) and it's been so busy. She's one of my best friends as well so so much to do! I finally got my peak late last night and I think I'm ovulating today (lots of pelvic cramping). So my first TWW commences. I'm going to try and test on day before period is due so that's the 22nd I believe. Thinking of planning something fun for the weeknd of testing day so even if I get a BFN (which is more likely) I'll have something nice to look forward to.

FieldView · 09/09/2022 15:15

@Sparklythings1 I feel your pain! I hated my job and was hoping to go off on maternity leave and then deal with a job change afterwards, but once I'd realised that TTC was going to be a much longer process than I first though, I decided to leave anyway. I'm now much less stressed and have not got quite so much pressure to get pregnant just to go on mat leave. I'm still not pregnant (obviously), but I'm definitely much happier and in a job I don't hate. Would you need to find something else to go to, or just take a break from work?

Got my third flashing smiley on the cb digi today, so might start testing twice a day. I don't want to miss the peak!

FieldView · 09/09/2022 15:16

@WannabeMum22 a treat sounds like a great idea! What are you thinking? I'm notoriously bad at distracting myself in the tww 😬

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 15:30

@Sparklythings1 that’s such a hard position to be in, I’m sorry - it really sucks that your job is getting you down like this when you’re TTC.

Also interested in people’s ideas for nice treats.

Personally I’m very confused as I’ve just done my first OPK just to see if anything is going on and there’s a faint line. My normal cycle is 25 days. If I count the first day of my post-pill withdrawal bleed as CD1 (though I realise it’s not a real period/cycle) I’m currently on CD24 so wasn’t expecting any sign of ovulation but does this faint line mean I might have?

I have no actual idea if I am or have ever been fertile! I’ve been on the pill for decades and this is my first time ever TTC. Am I wrong to find this vaguely encouraging, have I misunderstood? Or is some presence of LH a good thing?

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 15:33

Actually I can’t remember if my period used to start 25 days after the first or last day of my period, I was on the pill for so long.

I definitely wasn’t expecting anything on the OPK and am hoping this is a sign that I’m not over the TTC hill yet.

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 15:55

I must sound so thick but I just don’t understand any of it yet

NatalieSF · 09/09/2022 16:06

@anoanotherpotoftea opks always show a line. The test line needs to be stronger or as strong as the control line. I usually start testing at CD7 until its positive to say ovulation will occur in the next 12-48 hours..I think that's right anyway 🀣

How is everyone? Officially on AF Day but haven't tested yet. Tested 2 days ago but bfn..my cycle is only 25 days so today will be 12dpo.

anotherpotoftea · 09/09/2022 16:11

Ah I see, thanks! I just couldn’t seem to figure out if there would generally always be a line so appreciate you explaining.

Crossing everything for you when you do come to test.

Sparklythings1 · 09/09/2022 16:11

@TulipVictory yes, I’m being vague but I do something else self employed and have done for a while so I would just do that properly! It’s purely the lack of a permanent contract and no maternity pay (or maybe just smp if I was able to qualify for that) that would be the issue but I would far rather that than live my life as anxiously as I have been
